Amazing restaurant! We enjoyed a lovely meal here yesterday. The service is fantastic with lovely people working here. Very tasty food, and you get quite a big portion per person. Loved the guava juice and the sorbet (so refreshing!). 10/10 would recommend!

The food was truly incredibly delicious. We received excellent service from the staff. They were attentive and responsive to the needs of all customers. When the food arrived, they explained very clearly how to eat it.

Lovely restaurant, energy is quite nice. I cant eat gluten and the options include glutenfree :) very flavorful food! I cant handle spicy well & i was able to pick a dish that suited that. Would eat again!

Very helpful staff talked us through the menu and gave advice on how best to mix fish and vegan options. Nice touch with the hand washing before and after. Food was fresh and tasty. We will go again when we’re in Eindhoven.

Delicious East African food. Quality and tasteful. You have limited choices in dishes, you can compare it to tapas on 1 plate in my opinion. Different flavors that you eat with injera, a kind of pancake. You eat here with your hands. Your hands are washed before and after eating. All in all a good and tasteful experience.

I think I've been here 3 times in total and certainly not the last time. Entire experience is good. Relaxed atmosphere and super tasty spicy food. Good menu card, there is plenty of choice of food and drinks.

The food is fine, the young girl like a gentleman who is probably the cook was very friendly. The lady who works there is very grumpy, impatient and unfriendly.

What a wonderful discovery, restaurant Asmara in Eindhoven! Delicious East African dishes such as Okra and Nay Tsom Hwswas – a tasty mix of vegan and vegetarian, served on traditional injera (that light, slightly sour pancake you eat with). What makes it really special is the relaxed, warm atmosphere. Traditions such as washing hands at the table and eating with your hands give the meal something ritual and connecting - you really feel like a guest. As a bonus, I drank a surprisingly delicious non-alcoholic Ethiopian beer (Sif, I believe). Definitely a place to come back!

This is one restaurant anyone who loves food should visit.. to cut short everything about this place is AMAZING...but still my experience in bullet points! Ambience - 10/10 Presentation of the food -9/10 Taste - 10/10 Service - 10/10 (the lady here is so warm and hospitable) I have tasted ethiopian food before, but what makes this place the best for me is the taste of Injera, it has that sour flavor which comes by natural fermentation I believe. Apart from food, what drew my attention is the coffee making setup at the entrance of the restaurant, I would want to go back and have the coffee.. I would revisit this place :) Nothing like good food combined with great service!! P.S Do taste the coconut and mango beer!! Recently paid a visit...I still really enjoy it.... we even tasted desserts this time.. really love the experience

I would have liked to write a review on the food but I will write it on the organization/professionalism. We booked for 8pm with an email followed by confirmation, we arrive on time, we ring the bell and they don't open, after about 10 minutes they see us and tell us from the window that the restaurant had already closed... I have no words, never again!

The two of us ate here and would come back at any time. The food was very tasty and well seasoned. The service was very nice and attentive.

Delicious food! It's nice that you get some injera loose in a basket to start eating. We took the combination dish with meat as a main course, but the vegetarian one also looked very tasty. The coffee is good and served nicely.

I regularly come here with my boyfriend and we have never had a bad meal here. The food is really delicious, there is really nothing left on our plate ;) The service is super friendly and the owner and chef are always very nice! On my birthday I was also surprised with a dessert. Really nice people work here. A beautiful unique experience. The food is very tasty and the portions are perfect. A wide variety of fresh ingredients and flavors. If you like different and new dishes (you don't see this much in the Netherlands) this is highly recommended. The food is eaten with your hands, which makes the experience even better and authentic. Wat een prachtig restaurant, bij binnenkomst wordt je hartelijk ontvangen en kom je terecht in een warm bad van gastvrijheid. Omgeven door de prachtige authentieke aankleding wordt de specifieke manier van eten door de eigenaresse en haar personeel met zachte hand begeleid. Het eten zelf leert je bijzondere nieuwe smaken kennen waardoor je daadwerkelijk het gevoel krijgt even deel uit te mogen maken van een ander deel van de wereld. We had a delicious meal here! You eat with your hands, keep that in mind. They come to your table with water and towels, before and after eating, to wash your hands. Very friendly staff.

Gisteravond met z'n 4-en bij Asmara gegeten. Knus en gezellig ingerichte restaurant. Uiterst vriendelijke bediening. Als we hebben besteld, worden onze handen vantevoren gewassen. Als voorgerecht nemen we Bruchette. Een heerlijke friszure smaak met aromatische kruiden en knoflookolie. Als hoofdgerecht nemen we de Tibsi speciaal met rundvlees, Hwswas Asmara (combi van 3 vleesgerechten), en onze vegetarische vrienden nemen de Tibsi Asa (witvis) en de combi van vegetarische gerechten. We gaan all-in, dus nemen we Asmara bier uit Ethiopië erbij. Alle gerechten worden opgediend op injeera (soort sponsachtige pannenkoeken met een lichtzure smaak) op een grote schaal, aangevuld met linzen en een variatie van groenten. Wat een smaaksensatie: diep en rijk, met een pittige kick, aroma's van kruiden, en soms een lichtzure ondertoon van de injera. We deelden onze gerechten, wat de eetervaring ook heel sociaal en gezellig gemaakt. Als toetje natuurlijk de Ethiopische koffie genomen, dat geserveerd werd in een traditionele karaf met erbij een schaal met dadels en popcorn. Verder de honingwijn en Baklava als toetje. Wat een beleving was dit! Een absolute aanrader, mn ook vanwege de vriendelijke bediening.

High quality and tasty bits (and tibs!) We went for the trio of meats (beef, lamb, chicken) that came with a fabulous array of veg, including the best spinach I have ever tasted. Staff were kind and attentive, bringing extra injera, coming to wash hands before and after meal, etc. Fabulous and not too pricey!

We came to visit Eindhoven and looked at the restaurants nearby! Ethiopian... A first! We came and were not disappointed, a great welcome, despite the crowd the lady took the time to explain to us how to eat things etc! I eat here as regularly as I can. I find the food delicious and am slowly making my way through their menu. I have the impression the owners are working really hard to share their food and culture with everyone, and it seems to be going well considering how busy it usually is. I’d recommend making a booking if you want to get a table during the weekends. I like the atmosphere and service - really glad to have found this spot in Eindhoven!

While appreciating the excellent service provided by the attentive waitress, I must express my disappointment with the overall dining experience. Ethiopian cuisine, typically a personal favorite, failed to meet expectations in both flavour and portion size. This, coupled with high pricing, created a sense of being overcharged for a suboptimal dining experience. Regrettably, I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Extremely friendly staff and really great taste in everything you order, we regularly come to Eindhoven just for this restaurant!!!

The food is fine, but the portions are actually too small for what you get. You pay €50 for 1 egg, 1 chicken leg, 2 pieces of beef with vegetables, a little white cheese, some puree and 4 pancakes. The desert that is on the map; Tiramisu comes from the large containers at Lidl (€2.85). You pay €6 for it, but it's actually not very nice. Ultimately, you walk out hungry, almost €100 lighter. For that money you have plenty of better options in Eindhoven. It's a shame because I've had East African food before, but the portions are significantly larger. It's nice that there is a response, but no one is the wiser.

Delicious food here! Highly recommended. You have to eat with your hands which is a unique experience! They come and wash your hands at the table beforehand and do this again when you have finished eating. All in all, delicious food, nice atmosphere and unique experience!

I love the Asmara restaurant. We always order the assorted vegetarian platter for two. The food is delicious!! Make sure to ask for a side of mitmita to dip your food into. The service is great too. We go early before it gets too busy so they will come by often to chat with us and make sure everything is ok.

Very tasty food with amazing flavors! Two of us together had the vegetarian and the chicken meals. Both of the meals were served in 1 huge plate to be shared. Have to eat with your hands, no cutlery given. They also offer hand wash service to the table, so that was a surprise for us :) the only reason for not giving a 5 star rating is the super expensive bottle of water. 7.5 Euros for a bottle of still water!!!

Great family dinner, prior reservation. When we arrived the atmosphere was pleasant and we received fast and detailed service. We had the opportunity to taste several local dishes that were recommended to us and we greatly enjoyed: Derho and Tibsi speciaal. To drink Ethiopian beer (there was no Asmara) and to finish baklava with a delicious coffee that they made for us right there in the local style. I really loved that coffee. It was a great experience, which we recommend to anyone visiting Eindhoven.

Good location. Food is ok. The bin (or naan?) Is kinda sour-ish... We had big crowd ~70 people. But even though reservation was done in advance it was not very suitable for 50+ in my mind. Had to wait 1.5 hours
