There was a very hard thing like wood in my pizza and my teeth broke. When we told him he laughed and did not took us serious. The food was also verz trashy. NO RECOMMENDATION!

We had a delicious meal at Ovieto! We'd read mixed reviews, but ours was excellent. The pizzas aren't loaded with cheese, so they're light and flavorful. Nicely seasoned. The waiter was very friendly to us.

I have never seen such terrible service in my entire life, which is why the place is always empty. I recommend Fabel Friet, where you receive excellent service and eat the best fries in Amsterdam; it's right across the street from them!

There were several flies in my salad, or whatever that was, there were literally several insects on it! He wasn't surprised by that? He took the salad away and didn't bring anything new in its place. The food was cold, awful, and we had to wait another 40 minutes for it. Next to us was a family whose children fell asleep while waiting for their food. The restaurant has a different name in front of it, which is why we didn't discover the reviews until later. The best part: he brought us our food at the end, wished us a good meal, and didn't bring any cutlery :) He didn't even notice; we had to point it out to him. I don't know what he was on, but that's just unbelievable. I really hope with all my heart that there wasn't any spit in my food #Traumatized

Very good food and a genuinely nice waiter. Very accommodating and friendly. Me and my wife had the "Fettuccine dello Chef" and "Pollo alla Griglia" respectively. We were not disappointed.

After asking nicely for a toilet, we were not kindly asked to go somewhere outside.... Not recommended, unfriendly and unacceptable

I stumbled across Orvieto quite by chance while looking for a place to have dinner. The menu offers typical Italian classics, which arrive quickly at the table after ordering, courtesy of the very friendly staff. The quality of the food is impeccable, but the taste is only average, though the prices are fair.

The owner spat on a friend of mine for absolutely nothing

Title: Unheard-of behavior and a very bad experience! I can't express my surprise and anger in words after my visit to Ten Orvieto on Nieuwendijk. What an absolute disgrace! During our dinner, we were not only confronted with unfriendly staff, but also with the most unprofessional behavior I've ever witnessed. The owner or employee literally spit on my friend when he simply asked a question about his order. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and absolutely not what you expect from a restaurant, let alone in a city like Amsterdam. Besides this shocking incident, the service was also extremely slow and impersonal. The food was far from special, and the atmosphere was anything but welcoming. How can you enjoy your meal if you feel unsafe? We certainly don't plan on returning here ever again. I hope other customers are aware of this and avoid this place until they improve their staff and service to an acceptable level.

The man at the door was rude and unpleasant. I was waiting for my husband and son outside the restaurant, on the street, and he rudely told me I couldn't be there and to move. Then a boy went to park a bicycle and he told him the same thing, that he couldn't. So rude.

The waiter at this shop was disrespectful and acted with unnecessary arrogance. As a customer, I believe basic courtesy should be a standard. I genuinely hope the business reflects on this and improves, even if it means learning the hard way. Sometimes, growth comes through sacrifice.

We were here two times and ate the best pizza here. The service was also really good. Insider tip: Burrata Pizza and Tiramisu

Great pizzas! The menu offered lots of Italian dishes, but we ended up each getting a personal pizza.

We had a deeply unpleasant and shocking experience at this restaurant. While taking a short break on the sidewalk outside, our dog – who was completely calm and quietly lying down on the pavement – needed a moment to rest. We weren’t blocking the entrance or disturbing anyone, just standing peacefully outside by the window. Out of nowhere, a staff member (I believe he was a waiter) came out and very rudely told us to move away if we weren’t planning to eat there. What was even more appalling was that he spat on the ground right next to us – an aggressive and extremely disrespectful gesture. His tone was harsh, almost hostile, and it felt as if we were being treated like an inconvenience simply for existing near their establishment. We had no intention of causing any trouble and were simply waiting for our dog to catch his breath before moving on. The lack of basic decency, compassion, and professionalism from this employee was beyond disappointing. I can’t speak for the food, because after such treatment, there is no way I would ever consider dining here. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this place – there are many restaurants that not only serve great food but also treat people (and animals) with respect and kindness. This is clearly not one of them.

Owner disgusting spits on your shoes if standing near shop

Extremely poorly treated, poor service, glasses and cutlery were very dirty, we were not allowed to stand in front of the window at the front, the food was simply not edible... a shame, a complete waste of money. And then another event that is really not normal: I was spat on by the staff, yes really, spit straight from the mouth onto my jacket.

A restaurant run by a “non-Italian” benefits from having a perfect location. The food is catastrophic + too small, the music is too loud, the toilets are unreasonable and the pizza is a frozen product.. Next time it's better to go to the MC who is 50 meters further ahead.

I have been standing in front of the restaurant, for less than a minute then a rude Egyptian waiter ran to me to tell me to move away with my little son. I refused and said no I’m fine here, then he spit just behind my back. I have never seen such a rude behaviour, I hope the owner reads the comment and take action. If you read the comments then you will see, it’s not the first time he does it. I confronted him and he denied his action, I was actually calling the police but I was in a rush. This is physical harassment and this deserves consequences!

The egyptian waiter is so rude he spit us from the back because we stood in front of his store!! And as i read from the reviews it’s not his first time doing it!! He is so rude i hope that the owner of the restaurant read this review and take his action against this rude waiter!!

What can I say… Firstly, there were two groups of us serving throughout the restaurant, that didn't stop the restaurant owner from making us wait more than 30 minutes to serve us. We say to ourselves that this may be a guarantee of quality, but the pizzas are very clearly frozen (squared dough and taste of frozen pizza). We come to the point of paying where the restaurant owner wants to add €1 commission to us because we want to pay by card, which is illegal and which we therefore naturally refuse. This refusal will then be taken very badly by the restaurateur who will become threatening (but not scary, rest assured): threatens to burst glass jars on us, grabs us with his dubious strength, spits on us. Besides, you won't miss it but they are certainly not Italian. TO RUN AWAY!!!

Vegetarian Lasagna is not available but it was on the menu outside the restaurant. We ordered Spaghetti, and pizza. It didn’t taste good. It was bad. There was no one in the restaurant, just us. Should have taken the hint.

I will speak in Italian because they told me that the owner of the restaurant is Italian Good evening, unfortunately I had a terrible experience with you. I was about to go into an Italian restaurant and I wanted to eat something that reminds me of home, but it's the fault of your waiter who is Egyptian and who spat on me from behind as I was in front of the restaurant and I went in specifically to see the owner and he stopped me. Unfortunately it may be a good restaurant but the only thing I can say is I'm sorry to see such a badly behaved and undignified waiter and by writing I'll force the owner to see the comment and try to resolve otherwise the restaurant will go badly

We had an amazing dining experience at Orvieto. The steaks were perfectly cooked to our liking—tender, juicy, and full of flavor. What truly elevated our meal was the outstanding service from the waiter, who was incredibly personable, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. He recommended the Steak in Gorgonzola Sauce and man was he right!!! If you’re looking for a place with top-notch steaks and exceptional service, this is it! Will come back to try the other items in the menu

While looking for something to eat in this part of Amsterdam, we came across this nice Italian restaurant. We were served very friendly, sat at a table in a nice spot by the window and we had a very tasty meal! The tomato soup was very fresh and truly Italian and we both ate a different one kind of spaghetti. Highly recommended for a tasty, cozy and well-priced meal!

Extremely rude man who man handled me from in front of the shop took all of my will power not to push him back. Apparently this is the only place in Amsterdam that you can't stand in front off. Owner thinks he owns the street. Maybe focus more on your food than got jealousy of other food venues that are not empty like this one

There's a waiter here that seems spends their entire time standing at the window and then rushing out and pushes people including children who would dare to stand in front of the property which is a public road. Disgusting behaviour should be in arrested for assault get a life or move to a quieter area if you don't like the busy area

Was looking for somewhere to eat and came across this place which at first looked very inviting. Was waiting for my wife to catch up to me and before I knew it some jumped up waiter practically stormed out of the restaurant and pushed me away. People aren't allowed to stand in the public street outside here apparently!!! Absolutely shocking behaviour I have visited many places around the world but have never experienced anything like this level of rudeness

We entered the restaurant and it was very comfortable. We started having drinks and appetizers, which were wonderful. Then we took the main meal. The pasta was very delicious, and the pizza was wonderful in terms of quality and method of presentation. A beautiful experience that made me love Italian cuisine.

Whilst visiting from england i came across This place as is right across the street from the ibis hotel that i was staying at. First night I had a pizza that I took back to my hotel. I cannot tell you how nice this dish was. I returned the next night to have a pasta dish a carbonara it was the best pasta dish I've ever eaten. This place deserves 100 x the praise I can give it. I will definitely be back each time I come to amsterdam that is for sure.

Bland. tasteless pizzas, arrogant yet overworked staff, not very helpful. Pepper pot not working, so contents of pepper mill tipped onto pizza.. asked for another pizza.. but he couldn't accept that the pepper mill was broke.. Check your bill when leaving...the bill was 8 Euro more than it should have been, so I asked that he add up what we had, which was less than what he tried to charge.. customer beside us complained about portion size being too small, Waiter insistent that no one else complains.

We were there twice in a row and were very satisfied both times. Super friendly and the food was also very good. We would love to come back on our next trip to Amsterdam.

Went there yesterday with my friends, because the prices seemed really good. We got a warm welcome from the waiter who was very friendly and funny. After he helped us with ordering the food looked fresh. It was so delicious!!! And the dessert was also very nice. Not only the pizza and pasta were very good, but also the steak. The chef really knows what he js doing!! I will definitely come back again!

The pasta arrabiata was delicious, but the portion is small for the price. He did refuse to give tap water, even though legally all restaurants in NL have to give tap water for free, so that was a bummer

We came here based on other reviews. Indeed great fresh pasta here! Their Spaghetti frutti di mare (Seafood spaghetti) was great! Love the tomato sauce. Highly recommended.

Service was superb. The smile was genuine. I had the classic Caprese salad and Toretellini and chicken with a pesto sauce. Tortellini done a perfect al dente while chicken was overcooked. House red wine was the way to go.

The staff are very welcoming with a great personality. I recommend the house wine 🍷 with your favorite meal. I had bolognese spaghetti, my wife had pesto with chicken. Both were excellent TY Orvieto for great relaxing meal.

A shame ! The waiter was shamefully slow, made us wait 20 minutes before cashing out and when cashing out told us that we have to pay 2€ more per person if we pay separately?? This is illegal and this establishment should be ashamed!

There are lots of pizza, pasta, steak' restaurants in Amsterdam. Chose this one for dinner as was the first one we came to and was really pleasantly surprised. The pasta dishes were good but the steak was excellent - a very lean cut and perfectly cooked. The service was really friendly and certainly no issue with paying by card. Would definitely recommend.

it was not good, pizza was soggy and didn’t taste well, owner (?) had weird vibes, didn’t look like he was enjoying it or anything either. music was mid. and the vibes overall as well. it also took a really long time for the food to arrive and the pizza somehow wasn't warm at all

We waited an hour for our pizza and lasagna, the waiter sat on our lips the entire time because we were one of the only ones in the restaurant. Once the food was served the pizza was wet? If you saw water on it and the bottom was completely wet, you couldn't even eat it properly. I don't think the people around us thought it was too good either, they left after 2 bites of pasta. I listened to Barbie commercials for 15 minutes everywhere and also a commercial about home care for a very long time, so there was no atmosphere. Not recommended

The worst restaurant I've ever tried abroad, poor food, mediocre service and very high prices, a frozen "margherita" €9, I wouldn't go back even for free.

Be careful it’s a trap. They only take cash but you’ll learn their friend next door has an atm (with big fees) . Of course they’ll say they usually take credit cards but unfortunately it’s « broken » this month. They were nice at first, the food is not bad but it’s not homemade. There are many other restaurants around, go elsewhere.

Établissement qui n'aime pas être payé en carte bancaire. Le patron italien demande du cash. Je n'en avais plus en fin de journée. Le patron me donne alors l'addition et quand je lui dis que je n'ai pas de cash il repart en cuisine et reviens après.avoir ajouté 10€ au stylo sur la facture ! Je n'avais jamais vu cela ! C'est interdit et c'est du vol Mon ami avait pris des pâtes de la mer, il avait 3 moules dans ses pâtes et des bâtonnets oranges de surimi industriels !!

Het eten was super lekker. En de bediening ging heel snel. Ik vond de aankleding van het restaurant heel aangenaam er hangt een zeer gezellige sfeer en heel vriendelijk personeel. Een klein min puntje vond ik dat de rekening al gebracht werd terwijl deze nog niet gevraagd was, maar buiten dat super lekker en aangenaam echt een aanrader

My daughter and I stopped at the Orvieto for lunch. There were a few people in at the same time. Service was quick, professional and pleasant. We had pizza and a risotto, the food was lovely and very tasty and the wine was very nice too. We chatted to the owner a little and found he is Italian and from near Bologna. I We were staying longer in Amsterdam I am sure we would have returned.

1st time coming to this place and I must it was amazing 👏 We both ordered the carbonara and a pizza between us and the food was absolutely A1 it was proper Italian cooked food. We also ordered a bottle of wine and when the man came over to us with the wine he told us all about the wine and the grapes that were used and where it was from, he was very professional at gis job, I can't wait to come back and have food here again. We'll done to you and your team for delivering top standard food 👌

Die Meeresfrüchte-Nudeln von meinem Mann waren ok, bei meinen Lachsnudeln habe ich leider keinen Lachs gefunden! Nur Nudeln mit Sahne, oben drauf waren zwar Garnelen- die nicht auf der Karte waren und ich nicht esse! Für kurz zwischendurch ok, aber zum richtig gut essen gehen nicht geeignet!

Heerlijk gegeten. De tagliatelle met pesto, kip en champignons in roomsaus is verrukkelijk. Helaas ontbreekt de Italiaanse sfeer vanwege een tv-scherm met daarop muziek van de seventies en eighties. Hoe leuk ik de Beegees of Tavares ook vind, ik krijg er geen Italiaans gevoel van. Ook kregen we de rekening zonder erom gevraagd te hebben (terwijl één van ons nog een half glas wijn leeg moest maken). Hadden geen gelegenheid meer om ons nog te bedenken omtrent een nagerecht of laatste drankje. We hadden het gevoel dat we snel weg moesten wezen. Voor ons geen herhaling meer!

Meglio di molti altri ristoranti Italiani ad Amsterdam, primi abbondanti e saporiti prezzi adeguati, ci siamo trovati benissimo

The best focaccia I have ever eaten!

No iced coffee, no mint tea. They say Italian restaurants don’t serve that. Ok. But doesn’t being a restaurant require having a tablecloth then? Very authentic, feels like you’re in Italy and not in a good way

Das Essen (wir hatten alle Pizzas) war ok. Etwas fad aber ok. Preise für Amsterdam ok. Aperol Sprizz sehr gut und für 7,50 Euro ein Schnäppchen.

Bijzonder aardige bediening. Lekker eten.

Durchschnittliches italienisches Restaurant. Das Essen ist in Ordnung. Service ist ganz nett. Tischdeko eher lieblos. Es gibt schlechtere, aber auch deutlich bessere Restaurants.

Nous sommes tombés sur ce restaurant par hasard lors d'un week-end à Amsterdam. La cuisine était de qualité, les produits frais et les prix raisonnables. Nous avons été satisfaits de notre passage. Seul bémol, il n'y a pas de menu enfant disponible.
