Pompernikkel in Wijk 20 Valkenboskwartier

Pompernikkel is an absolute gem in the Regentessekwartier, and I find myself coming here at least once a week at this point. The moment you step inside, there’s a homey and cozy vibe. The atmosphere is grounded and warm. The bread, whether it’s the loafs, buns, or “baguettes” here are exceptional—always fresh, with a hearty flavour that shows the care and skill put into its making. Whether you're stopping by for a quick bite or spending an afternoon trying to get some work done or just want to enjoy your book and a coffee, Pompernikkel never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Excellent croissant, perfectly filled and tasteful cruffin and cappuccinos are not bad too! A bit pricey but average for The Hague; the space is quite small so you’re asked to queue outside and there’s a bit of confusion when waiting for a table. Would probably get take away next time (if the weather permits)

Have to wait outside in queque,in the cold. And its kind steeply priced... But it's worth it ,the bread is absolutely delicious and tasty

Sandwich was really delicious. Unfortunately the coffee was sour. That was a disappointment. I will still get bread there, but the free coffee at the AH, for example, is even better. Shame.

This might be a popular bakery, but the service is horrendous. We visited on a rainy Saturday morning, and all the outdoor seating was wet. We inquired with the staff but were told there is no queue system; you have to grab any empty table yourself, but you can’t wait inside the café because it is crowded. Additionally, more patrons were coming inside to wait for tables randomly. We ultimately gave up on this. The owner should review their table and queue system. I am not certain about their baked goods, but their service attitude is the worst. While the quality of food is essential in the F&B industry, service quality should be equally important.

Visited the store on a rainy Saturday. There were no clear instructions on the dine-in queuing policy, so we waited outside with the pastry line since there was a large sign on the door saying “queue outside.” When it was our turn, we asked about the system for dine-in seating, but the response was that they had no proper way to track which customers were waiting for a table. We left two people inside to hold our spot while the rest of the group waited outside. However, a staff member told us we couldn’t wait inside because the interior was cramped, which I understand (note: we were not blocking the way since we stood aside). The issue arose when I pointed out that others who arrived after us were waiting for tables inside, blocking the way entirely. The staff member said it is beyond their control and they can’t keep track of who are waiting for a table. I find this utterly ridiculous and have never encountered such poor service anywhere in the Netherlands so far. I would never recommend visiting this store, especially if you plan to dine in.

The sourdough is definitely the best I have ever had and the pastries are delicious. They have some staples and there are always a couple of new creations, which have always been very tasty imho. Get there early as the good stuff tends to sell out. Not cheap but you get what you pay for; the quality is outstanding

I always lived in the area and now that I no longer live there, I only realize that it really is one of the best bakeries in the entire Randstad. Best croissants, interesting specialities. Everything is tasty

Pumpernickel, located on a corner building on Beeklaan, immediately stands out because of its small, cozy facade terrace. Upon entering, the counter immediately attracts attention with a display case full of fresh sourdough breads, croissants and sweet treats such as cinnamon rolls and scones. In addition to the regular range, there are also specials, sandwiches and focaccias. Pumpernickel has become a popular breakfast and lunch spot, with its own bakery where everything is prepared fresh and with care. Inside you will find tables and seating areas, while upstairs, in a kind of loft, the open bakery is located. Delicious baked goods are made here every day, while a barista prepares the tastiest coffees and cappuccinos. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming; everyone who works there does so with love and attention to the product. The sign outside already warns: there is often a line out the door, and that is not without reason. Pumpernickel is without a doubt one of the best bakers in The Hague and is definitely worth the detour!

The best bakery in The Hague. Freshly baked sourdough bread is heaven itself. Croissants and sweet snack breads are delicious, but sourdough is the best!

My favorite bakery/cafe in The Hague. The breads and pastries are delicious, the pain au chocolat specifically may be the best I’ve ever had. Excellent coffee, friendly service, and lots to choose from whether you’re looking for something savory or sweet.

The perfect combination of taste, service, ambience and price. The food was fresh as it could be. Crisp but not hot. The notes of pepper and the cheese in the snack was on point. The espresso was strong and the flat white smooth. The dessert was done well with fresh fruits and the right amount of custard. Serene experience, highly recommended and will definitely revisit.

Really great foods! We tried the almond croissant, margarita pizza and the sandwich! The bread they made was amazingly so good! We also bought one sourdough to enjoy it at home

Amazing croissants, super nice bread and the cheese is so soft and flavorful! Butter is very tasty so is the homemade jam! I will come back regularly!

Cute little Bakery with a few seats inside and outside. Very good coffee and all their pastry's looks delicious. Hard to choose. I choose the kaasknaller and it was super tasty. Buttery, flacky, cheesy and the addition of sjalot and pepper made it even better. Nice and friendly staff as well. Will Def come back again to try the other pastries 😋

Amazing combo of sour cherry and cream. I enjoy the seasonal special very much. The only thing is it’s super busy in the weekend morning. But def worth it.

The pastries in this establishment are very tasty. But everything can't be good! They brought me a croissant and coffee, I just broke off this crispy piece and wanted to soak it in the foam, and then a cafe worker came up to me and said: “Are you alone? Maybe you can sit at the bar? There are also other people who came in groups.” She was polite, but this moment was still very unpleasant. I felt like I was less important than the people who came after me. Why? just because I came for breakfast alone?

I do love both the pastries and bread, I come here often and I’m never dissapointed. The only weak point is the service, it’s usually slow and chaotic.

Excellent croissants but 2.7€ is rather expensive (in comparison, in Paris 1.20€ is average and 1.75€ the highest), and 4€ I think for a chocolate bread. Prices are not always indicated.

Best cinnamon roll in town! They also offer seasonal/new choices, we enjoyed the herbal tea and fresh apple pear juice as well, chill and cozy space.

Vandaag met volle enthousiasme wezen lunchen omdat ik op instagram zag dat ze lekkere pastry’s en zuurdesem brood hadden. We bestelden lunch en het heeft een uur geduurd voordat we ons eten kregen. Voor we het kregen bestelden we toch nog drinken. Bij navraag was de bediening vergeten onze bestelling in het systeem te zetten. Erg slordig en niet oplettend. Had het idee dat de bediening met andere dingen bezig was. Chaotisch !

Wircklich tolles minimalistisch eingerichtetes Café! Die Speisen sahen mega aus und der Kaffee war auch sehr zu empfehlen!

A must-visit spot in The Hague for delightful baked goods and the perfect place to savor a coffee and pastry in the sun. It's truly one of my favorite places!

Per toeval dit heerlijke bakkertje gevonden om de hoek. Het is misschien wat aan de dure kant maar je krijgt echt meer dan waar voor je geld! De croissantjes zijn beter dan hoe je ze in Frankrijk geserveerd krijgt, maar ook de andere broodjes en gebakjes zijn van hoge kwaliteit! Ze werken met een op = op tactiek waardoor de kaart niet altijd volledig beschikbaar is maar wat er wel voor zorgt dat wat je krijg extreem vers is! In mijn ervaring hebben ze altijd wel iets naar mij wens! Zeker aan te raden om hier koffie met een croissantjes te eten op de zondag ochtend!

Best cafe in The Hague by far. Closest to a Melbourne vibe you’ll find. Lovely staff and French bread and pastries.

Geweldige bakkerij met producten van hoge kwaliteit wat zeker te proeven is. De zoete gebakjes zijn erg lekker maar bij ons is het zuurdesem bolletje met rauwe kaas van Meester affineurs toch echt de favoriet.

Very nice bakery with understated coffee as well. First the bread one of the best bakeries in Zuid Holland. I live coming here on sunny mornings. Their sourdough bread is fantastic as well as their croissants. Their coffee is also worth dropping by for. Nice temperature and texture. Finish could be a little better.

Very good viennoiseries, croissant was as good as in France. However coffees are average and sprout milk is not very good. Update: I’ve been coming for 2 years now and today, I was told one hour after they opened that they did not have any more bread… and the woman serving was really everything but nice… also prices are never indicated, sometimes I pay 10€ for 2 viennoiseries some other times 8€. Nothing is constant. It is still good but just becoming disappointing.

These past few months all the pastries are served almost burnt. See picture, please fix the oven everything is overcooked… I avoid coming because of this very reason…

Heerlijke broden en croissantjes etc. voor een degelijke prijs, die ter plekke vers gemaakt worden. En elke keer weer unieke combinaties/nieuwe broodjes om uit te proberen. Tevens geweldig dat er lokale producten gebruikt worden!

Fijne lunchplek! Heeeerlijke croissants en ik ben ook fan van de zelfgemaakte kombucha. Je moet wel op tijd komen, want anders is het meeste uitverkocht (dat zegt eigenlijk al genoeg).
