Delicious dinner at Portfolio! Very tasty and refined dishes, flavors were creative and harmoniously matched. The dishes were accompanied by beautiful and interesting wines. Clear and nice explanation of both the dishes and the wines. Pleasant atmosphere. Price of the menu is completely worth it. We would love to come back again!

Perfect! We've been here twice and had different menus and both times were incredible. From start to finish it was lovely and the flavours were bold, refreshing, and also well balanced. We loved the asian influences and ingredients in the dishes, and the whole experience felt like a journey. The service was very nice and it gives us a cozy feeling in a relaxed atmosphere. We also opted for the non-alcoholic pairing, and it is insanely well made by the sommelier, mixes and flavours that compliments the chefs menu very nicely.

This was the second time in this restaurant after a long time ago. The first time, to be honest we were not impressed. But this time everything was amazing! The food, the wine, the service! One person in our group did not eat meat, so the chef had already prepared similar but also amazing dishes for her! She was very pleased.

In one word: great! Everything is just right and you really have a wonderful evening out. I immediately made a new reservation.

Hands down the best meal of my life!! The food was incredible, the staff was attentive, and the vibe was cozy, relaxed, and casual. It's a small restaurant, and you can see everything going on in the kitchen from most of the tables. The three guys working seemed to be having a great time! My only complaint (as an American) is that the meal lasted a lot longer than I'm used to (around 4 hours); we started at 7 PM, so it was way past my bedtime by the time we were done. However, there was no point during the meal when we thought it was dragging or taking too long. The courses were prompt, and I did not leave hungry. Definitely go if you're in The Hague!!

I was fortunate enough to eat at Portfolio last night and I have nothing but praise for the food, the service and the whole dining experience. We had seats at the bar which I would highly recommend. It was a joy to watch the two chefs prepare each plate so calmly and delicately. There were some dishes that I just don't think I will ever forget. The first dish (scallop) I ate in particular, was perfect. The balance of flavours took my breath away. Throughtout the meal each dish was presented by either the chefs or the sommelier. Their passion for the ingredients, their eagerness to share their knowledge and to answer questions was so appreciated. Their friendly nature made our dining experience just so special! We opted for the half wine pairing which I would highly recommend too. As you can probably tell, I just loved everything about Portfolio. Thank-you so much for the incredible food and experience.

14,5 punten bij Gault Millau, dan ben je echt een goed restaurant, daar hoeven we het niet over te hebben. Smaken verschillen, daar moet iedereen zelf over oordelen, er zaten fantastische gerechten bij, andere waren prima maar iets minder fantastisch 😉 Wat ik er uit vond springen, is de persoonlijke service. En: er wordt op een kleine ruimte gewerkt, je kijkt zo de keuken binnen, maar je ruikt niets, echt heel goed. Mooi servies hebben ze, als je daar oog voor hebt dan is dat dus óók kwaliteit, en hoe méér verschillend servieswerk je kunt inzetten, hoe meer je kunt varieren in de wijze waarop je gerechten samenstelt en aanbied. Heel bijzonder is hun aanbod van een non-alcoholisch aan de gerechten gepaard drank arrangement > allemaal op maat gemaakte drankjes, haast tovenarij, ben ik nog nergens tegengekomen dat daar zoveel werk van gemaakt wordt!

We went here for our anniversary and had the Chefs menu. The wine and non alcoholic pairings are just amazing. Every course is a treat and it’s just fabulous to see how the kitchen is in control to give you an incredible food experience. In my opinion the best restaurant in The Hague.

This is one of those restaurants where everything is just right: delicious dishes, nice timing between courses, pleasant service, relaxed, small-scale location, pleasant music. Afterwards we couldn't say which course we liked best: everything was great. If you like fine dining, you must eat here.

Pampering! Enjoyed a series of surprising, delicious dishes with ditto wines

Small business in the middle of Prinsestraat, the interior is sleek and sober, but warm. The seats are alternately low and high, you can also take a seat at the bar or by the window. The kitchen is central to the business and you have a view of it all evening long. They work with one fixed menu that changes regularly (seasonally). The dishes are of an absolute high standard, everything is correct and executed to perfection, which you can taste in all elements. Various modern/classic cooking techniques are applied, which is not only a feast for the taste but also for the eyes (dry ice). The service is personable, helpful and very hospitable. The wine list is extensive with many 'vin 'nature' and orange wines. Absolutely recommended if you really want to enjoy a wonderful evening in all facets!

Best restaurant in The Hague. Changing menu with the seasons, fresh ingredients, great flavors and beautiful plates. In one word: perfect! No à la carte, there is a unique menu. Small restaurant, a must-visit in The Hague, maybe for a special occasion. Quality justifies the price.

The food was excellent again! The balance in taste, structure and composition means that you will soon be joining Portfolio again. The non-alcoholic drinks package is recommended, a suitable juice is served with each dish. The juices are just as balanced as the dishes and reinforce each other in the right notes.

Sublime food! Star-worthy... every dish is so beautifully put together and you will be surprised with beautiful flavors. A real favorite of ours! The citrus notes, in combination with earthy spicy and sweet...totally my thing. And don't skip the espresso/tea because the Madeleines served with it are the best ever. Straight from the oven, warm and crispy...my mouth is watering...oh and very affordable for what you get...

Possibly the single best dinner experience I’ve ever had. Small restaurant, with only a few tables. Just two staff: chef and sommelier. Food was divine, as were the selection of non-alcoholic drinks. Very creative and original. We visited last March, but I’m dying to go again. Worth every penny.

This is simply the best fine dining restaurant in The Hague. It does not have a Michelin star because it does not have waiters in black tie and other stupid and useless Michelin features, but the food quality is superb and on the best Michelin level. Two guys are running it in a Swiss watch mode with perfect timing and super attentive service. We have had several dinners at this place - they are the best in town. Highly recommended.

Culinary highlight of The Hague

Visited end of August, we sat at the bar, was nice to see how just with two of them they did everything, well done! Food and service both were lovely!

Portfolio is such a special restaurant. Everything is right, the atmosphere, the dishes, the service. Have been there at least 5 times over the years and it has been so good every time! Truly the gem of The Hague :)

One of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure to visit, anywhere. Why it's not Michelin starred is a mystery, but then again it's so brilliant I would hate to see it change in any way.

Good experience. Very tasty food with plenty of time between dishes. You shouldn't eat here if you want to get away quickly. Good host who explains everything clearly. Delicious wines. If you do not drink alcoholic drinks, there are also delicious homemade drinks that resemble wine and go well with the dishes. Good ambiance. I thought it was a bit too hot, but all in all very good and definitely recommended.

Beste restaurant waar ik ooit ben geweest. Al een tijdje geleden hier gegeten en genoeg reviews te vinden over dat het eten heerlijk is. Maar wat ik juist zo indrukwekkend vond en waarom het tien sterren zou verdienen is dat ik een gerecht kreeg met koriander dat ik zowaar lekker vond. En het enige ingrediënt dat ik dus écht verschrikkelijk vind, is koriander (overigens was ik dit zelf vergeten te melden, dus eigen schuld). Ik proef het gelijk, en dan is het voor mij dus altijd al klaar. Dit is het enige gerecht by far waar ik dat niet bij heb gehad. Dan heb je pas verstand van hoe smaken elkaar aanvullen en welke combinaties goed passen. Chapeau! Overigens wilde ik hier later nog eens eten en moest ik dezelfde dag afmelden (nadat er al voor mij aan eten ingekocht was). Hier gingen ze erg begripvol mee om en kreeg gewoon mijn aanbetaling terug, zelfs toen ik aanbood dat ze dit mochten houden. Erg bedankt hiervoor.

Incredible fine dining experience with outstanding European-Asian fusion plates. Suits a special night! What strike me the most about the plates were the balance of different flavours. While usually meat and fish steal the show, I loved how it was possible to taste and enjoy each and every ingredient. On another note, I personally liked the relaxed and unassuming atmosphere in the restaurant. The dishes and service stood out instead of the decor. The sommelier was friendly and knowledgeable about both the wine and the menu. Thank you very much for hosting us!

De ambiance en het eten wat wordt geserveerd is echt uitzonderlijk. Hier kan menig sterrenrestaurant een voorbeeld aan nemen! Gegarandeerd een top avond.

Super lekker gegeten bij Portfolio met goed bijpassend wijnarrangement. We begonnen met een krokantje van lijnzaad met gerookte olie crème. Die crème was lekker, de krokantje aardig, maar wel wat veel qua hoeveelheid. Hetzelfde gold eigenlijk ook voor het brood, goed lekker vers en knapperig, maar wat veel. Daarna ging het pas echt los. Als soort van appetizer was er tartaar van tonijn met umami crème en zeewier Geweldig, super, je zou er eigenlijk twee willen hebben, één om in een hap naar binnen te werken om de smaakcombinaties goed te proeven en één om uit elkaar te pulleken en te ontleden. De bijbehorende champagne was onbekend en meer dan top. De Hamachi met tomaat, chili en wasabi was hemels lekker. Past in een strerrenmenu. Lust voor oog en smaak. De zeeduivel, altijd een moeilijke vis om goed te garen, met asperges en miso, was ook heerlijk. Daarna de wagyu A5, met garnering van o.a. aubergine ossenstaart en ponzu. Ook weer een topper. Meer dan geweldig. Super lekker. Het dessert van aardbei, pijnboompitten en zout ijs….., normaal niet echt lekker maar in deze combinatie, geweldig De madeleine met goede koffie maakte het helemaal af. De bediening was erg goed, vriendelijk, niet te popie-jopie, niet te formeel, wel zeer ter zake kundig.

Geweldig restaurant! Zálig eten, hele fijne ambiance en een fantastisch alcoholvrij arrangement.

In tijden niet meer zo heerlijk gegeten! Perfect in balans en ook een mooie combinatie met de wijnen. Voor het eerst echt ervaren dat wijnen zó goed kunnen matchen met een gerecht en je hierdoor een extra smaakbeleving hebt. Erg bijzonder!

Klein restaurant waardoor het heel persoonlijk voelt, wat erg fijn was. Gastheer met veel kennis van zijn dranken, mooi dat ze een non alcholic pairing aanbieden, dit is zeker een aanrader. Mooie ronde, verfijnde smaken. Wij komen zeker terug.

5 Sterne in allen Bereichen ! Wir hatten einen wundervollen Abend mit einem hervorragend Service und tollem Ambiente. Alle Gänge waren hervorragend, sodass ich nicht mal ein Highlight festlegen kann. Es war von vorne bis hinten rund, kreativ und fantastisch. Erstaunlich, dass man mit einem 2er Team so etwas leisten kann. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder !

If you like cozy places with extremely tasty food which was made of the best quality ingredients, you have to visit Portfolio. Always when we are going there we are very excited about new dishes because combination of ingredients is so perfect that you never have strange aftertaste or feeling that it was to much, it always feels just perfect. You can always feel if people give their heart to what they do. In this place you have no doubts that everything is made from big love and heart to there I place. Recommend recommend recommend many many times.

Fantastisch restaurant! Erg klein, staan met een man op de vloer en een in de keuken. Eten is fantastisch, met lekker passende wijnen. Is vast menu.

Echt een beleving en absoluut één van de betere restaurants van Den Haag. Uitstekende gerechten, goede bijpassende dranken en hele kundige bediening.

Wat een top restaurant is dit! By far de beste restaurant in Den Haag. Eten is van een waanzinnig niveau. Alles tot in perfectie. Van kwaliteit tot timing Zelf een non alcoholisch pairing erbij gekozen. Perfecte combinaties bij elk gerecht. Twijfel niet, gewoon gaan en je zult iets waanzinnig mee maken! Kan niet wachten tot het nieuwe menu :)

Samenvatting: Klein maar fijn, fine dining niveau, wine pairing = must, warm personeel, kost wat maar dan heb je ook wat bijzonders. 1. Bij binnenkomst merk je al dat dit niet 'even wat eten' is. Het onthaal is persoonlijk per tafel en je merkt al snel dat er voor je wordt gezorgd. 2. De timing en het tempo is echt van een buitencategorie. Weinig keren meegemaakt dat het personeel zo scherp en subtiel alles wisselde qua gangen en drank, zonder je lastig te vallen met vragen. 3. De man kent z'n wijnen. Ik heb aardig wat meters gemaakt met wijn proeven en dit was gewoon on-point met de gerechten. De wine-pairing is eigenlijk een must voor de volledige ervaring. Je kan zelfs van volle glazen halverwege naar halve glazen switchen, mocht je jouw innerlijke drankorgel willen temperen. 4. Het eten is bijzonder. Niet alledaags, maar daarvoor kom je ook niet bij dit restaurant. De smaken zijn (zeer) uitgesproken. De porties zijn goed en voor een gemiddelde eter vult dit makkelijk. 5. Meeste publiek wat hier komt zijn stellen of vriendinnen. Wellicht iets te romantisch voor bro's-onder-elkaar, tenzij je de bromance een bijzondere boost wilt geven.

Excellente culinary experience! The autom menu is elegant, varied in flavors, but yet presents a set of dishes that perfectly go together. The service was impressive, our host was attentive to any of our needs and very friendly and pleasant even with a full restaurant to look after.

After several times tried to book the table, finally yesterday we could have dinner at the bar! The place is not that big, so a reservation in advance is a must. The food is fantastic, i have to say that everything is very special that you always get an explosion of tastes in your mouth in every dish which cause a big smile on your face and your belly! We took 8 courses with wine arrangement and everything is perfect from the start until the end. The best restaurant in Den Haag so far! Totally recommended and for sure we will come back again.
