Great authentic Portugese food very nice decor , very clean , loved the atmosphere.

We organised a friend's baby shower here and I had my first Portuguese meal, what a wonderful experience! The menu was extensive and surprisingly tasty: we started with olives and lupine beans, followed by Pasteis de Bacalhau (cod croquettes), Legumes à Brás (vegetables with egg and potato), Jaquinzinhos (small fried fish), Queijo da Serra (a delicious Portuguese cheese), Frango no Churrasco with fries (perfectly grilled chicken!), and to finish a classic Pastel de Nata. Everything was well prepared, tasty and authentic. The atmosphere was cosy and warm, really ideal for a festive occasion like a baby shower. The service was friendly and helpful. Sometimes it took a little longer for drinks to arrive...we were a very large group, so that was somewhat understandable. In short: highly recommended if you are looking for something special in terms of food and a nice location for a party. We enjoyed it!

I ate here a while ago with a friend for her birthday. I regretted my choice. The food could really be better, the octopus was too dry. In addition, there is a young lady in the service who should follow hospitality training before she is brought into contact with customers. She is rude/restless, goes beyond her book and sucks your energy as a customer. Because of this we could not enjoy the food or the atmosphere. I had been here once before, and thought it was a snapshot. But on my second visit, this turned out not to be the case. I feel sorry for the other employees who were just fine in the contact. I will not come back anyway.

We hosted a babyshower here and were so welcomed with warmth. Also had a great arranged menu, and everyone loved the dishes choses for us. Despite the chaos we were served with such kindness and flexibility. Thank you so much for hosting us

Nice Portuguese restaurant with authentic dishes. You can taste Portugal. Daring location in Rotterdam West, but in a beautiful place. Divided over 2 rooms, nicely decorated. Friendly staff, only a pity that no one speaks Dutch

We started off with a GREAT night. Good food, good wine.. Yet when we left ( us being 4 women) a table with multiple men were obnoxious and rude towards us.. this kept going on for a while, and the Restaurant did nothing at that moment. We literally almost got into a fight. If insecure and unmannered men, bother women….Do something about it as a place of service!

went with my sister and we had octopus, ‘bacalhau com broa’, some appetizers and i even had ‘sopa de caldo verde’ Everything was insanely good and the staff and funny and nice. we asked the chef Bruno to come to our table just to tell him how good the food was. Definitely going back!!!!

Fried squid as an appetizer. Was fried too long and quite salty. Pumpkin croquets, only two served.. taste wise blend. Had the fish of the day, Dorade (no spices). Served with small potatoes and salad (flavourless dressing). Pork neck dish was okay. Had a glass of white wine (8/9 euro per glass). Will it was the most expensive wine per glass wine of the menu.. it wasn't very good.. too much apple flavour and had the idea that the bottle had been open for quite a while before it was served to us. Overall, okay.. not great. Interior was the best part of the experience. Will not return.

I don't even know where to start because everything was divine, quality service, generous and good dishes, a more than fair price given the quality of the products, asking the waiter for advice and often responding professionally would change nothing. Keep it up, you're on top, it's a shame we can only give it five stars.

Beautiful restaurant with lovely service and good food!

The Portuguese steak was great, the octopus was also delicious, but for people who are used to ordering and eating immediately, that is not the case here.

It was a great dining experience. We had the oven duck rice and pork neck which were so gooood!!! For dessert we had the lemon tart but the egg taste was a bit overwhelming and the gelato a bit too sugary. Such great cocktails!!!

Surprisingly not delicious! I am an easy-going globe-trotting foodie. Pairing flavours can often elevate a dish, but steak with a sweet, creamy coffee sauce was most unpleasant and not described in the menu as such. Added to this was a plate of overdone, chewy squid, albeit nicely plated (fried squid starter was also unusually chewy) and a side dish of uncooked and very bland, unseasoned black-eye peas. Actually, these weren’t edible. I can, however, recommend the pasteis de bacalhau/codfish fritas and the shrimp main dish. Sadly, service was not good - order taken, food and drinks served, that’s it. Couldn’t even get their attention for salt, pepper, or more drinks! Maybe an off day but what an expensive one for me and my guests. Underwhelming experience and not recommended. I had awesome food in Lisboa, this was far from that in terms of taste and food quality. Too bad!

Mussels starters and fish of the day was good. Bacalhao n the seafood rice is mid. Pricey but nice atmosphere for a meet up with friends/date.

The service from the grumpy gentleman was mediocre. The lady was much more pleasant and friendly. The food is fine.

Over de drempel stap je in één keer Portugal binnen. Lekker chaotisch, lekker druk, alle soorten en maten mensen met maar een doel: gewoon lekker eten. Hielp ook dat we met Portugese vriend mee waren, die wist wat te bestellen. Wat een fantastische en authentieke keuken! Zo'n restaurant vergeet je niet snel meer.

I don't think it's particularly spicy

Food was decent, was brought a bad wine, after asking, they gave me a new glass (Which was much better!). Before we started they asked us if we wanted everything together. I asked if they could bring our starters one by one instead of throwing everyting on the table. Still, they brought it all at once. Directely afterwards came our main course. So we were pretty stuffed within 45 minutes, not really enoyable. Port was good! Desert as well. Quality of the food also, just the service was not great. Even if they mean well. Placement of the table was also not the best, but i understand that sometimes thats just what it is..

We waren met 12 personen en hadden aangegeven dat we vroeg weg moesten naar een show. Bediening was perfect en zorgde voor een snelle maaltijd en was zeer vriendelijk. De gegrilde kip was heerlijk mals met een flinke schaal heerlijke patat. Van de rest ook alleen maar goede reacties. We vroegen om grote flessen plat water en kregen gratis(!) kannen water.

Food was lovely and the place feels authentic Portuguese! The only downside for us was that on a Friday night, they appeared to be heavily understaffed. We felt a little unseen / ignored having to wait extraordinary long to be noticed in the first place, getting a menu, taking our order, getting the bill.. The food was served quickly, though. It felt as if the staff - as kind and hard working as they were - actively avoided responding to any gestures trying to get their attention, which was a true downside which we hope they’ll improve over time, as the place itself has such great potential for a nice and casual night out!

I visited this restaurant yesterday. The food was absolutely fantastic. The grilled octopus and seabass were the highlights of the meal—perfectly cooked and the portions were generous. The green wine had a refreshing taste and paired perfectly with our meal. However, the atmosphere was unfortunately ruined by the heat. We were seated on the 1st floor, and the air conditioning was working on too high temperatures, leaving the room hot—like a sauna. It made it impossible to stay long enough to enjoy dessert or order more wine, which was really disappointing. If it weren’t for the extreme heat, we would have stayed much longer and fully enjoyed the entire experience. Hopefully, they’ll address this issue, as the food and drink alone are worth coming back for.

We were a group of 9, including a baby. We arrived without a reservation on a Sunday evening, and they arranged everything for us. On top of that, the food was delicious (you MUST order the chicken and try it with piri piri and lemon).

Ate here today. I had the salada à algarvia, the polvo à lagareiro and some Alentejo wine. I must admit that the squid was one of the best I have had in my life. The salad was a tad bit too cold for my taste but still great. The red Alentejo wine was fantastic, the servers were excellent. For someone who misses home, this place certainly is a small bit of Portugal here in Holland. The only thing that isn't Portuguese about this place are the prices, but that's the sacrifice we make when living in Holland :P (And please! More Portuguese, NOT BRAZILIAN, music.)

We ate well and drank nice wine. The fried sardines were delicious, the sheep's cheese croquettes and the seafood “risotto” were unfortunately too bland. The piri piri chicken was delicious. The coffee was great.

We have been there yesterday. For Rotterdam and that neighbourhood It's fine and probably the best option but having spent time in Portugal, the food here is one level below. A bit too salty, clams very small and with a much softer taste. We had a reservation but he had to wait and it was fairly noisy and warm inside. Not the best experience for us but it's a good enough restaurant if you miss mediterranean food.

It is a cozy restaurant. Small dishes, not very special, but fine. Lots of fries. Few greens. Vegetable dish with straw fries, again a disappointment. Very nice wine.

Delicious food, good portions and excellent value for money. Service is nice, but a bit chaotic. An evening in Portugal in Rotterdam. We'll be back for more.

Reservamos un almuerzo / cena temprano en este restaurante ya que queríamos recordar nuestro viaje de junio a Lisboa. Muchacho, teníamos razón al hacer esto. Estábamos recibiendo muy cálidamente por un joven que nos mostró nuestra mesa justo al lado de la ventana. Nos dio menús y tomó nuestro pedido de bebidas. Él fue muy proactivo durante todo el tiempo que estuvimos en el restaurante sin convertirse en una molestia, lo justo para mantener las cosas fluidas y que nos permite disfrutar de la comida. El menú consiste en una selección muy equilibrada de platos portugueses que satisfacen a todos dentro de nuestra fiesta. No voy a entrar en detalles sobre la tarjeta de menú que se puede encontrar en el sitio web del restaurante, basta decir (lo que realmente importa) es que todos nosotros estábamos muy satisfechos con nuestra elección, realmente se sentía auténtico portugués. Top esto con precios razonables para los Países Bajos. En términos de llegar allí, en realidad es bastante simple, tomar el tranvía número 1 y bajar en Middellandstraat. Entonces camina 300 metros, tranquilo. Salimos del restaurante pasadas las 5 pm y notamos que se estaba llenando de clientes. ¿Regresaríamos en otra visita a Rotterdam? ...sin duda.

Very tasty food and nice atmosphere! Recommended!

Really good food, all staff speak Portuguese. Feels like home.

Im Portuguese and although the food being decent (not great) its not an authentic “Tasca” environment and food. They try to make a gourmet experience which is quite the opposite of what a tasca should be. The food is ok but its really overpriced. They could be a sensation in the Netherlands if they could replicate the tasca ambiance and also the “mum” or “granny” quality of food.

Best Octopus in town!!! Would go back any time.

Enjoyed it immensely, it's been a long time since I ate such a delicious piece of meat. What was disappointing was that it was far too busy inside, service could not keep up and that was to the detriment of the service, which was very substandard, which meant we had to wait an exceptionally long time for our food. Full = full and no is also an answer, be careful with your quality towards your guests. And by not checking the receipt immediately, we paid for 2 beers from someone else! For future guests, check your receipt at checkout!!

Fomos a este restaurante para o nosso filho, estudante expatriado, matar saudades da comida portuguesa, e em boa hora o fizémos. Atendimento simpático, boas instalações, carta variada, de comidas e bebidas, preços normais para este país. Provámos diversos petiscos, faltou espaço para os pratos principais, ficam para uma próxima, mas a sobremesa não escapou. A repetir, concerteza.

We were very disappointed with the bacalhau and arroz de marisco. Dar has nothing to do with real Portuguese food. First time we thought ok can happen but second time we were left not satisfied at all. That's money for nothing. Not recommended...

A busy but cozy restaurant with a nice variety of fish, meat and vegetarian from Portuguese cuisine. Service very good and friendly, but it is advisable to make a reservation. Places are a bit tight so they have to do something about that. In any case, we had a delicious meal. Next time just make the cod less black on the skin and clean it better.

Nog nooit meegemaakt. Een tafel gereserveerd voor 19 uur, om vervolgens een veels te kleine tafel 45 minuten later toebedeeld te krijgen. Met alle borden en bestek was er geen ruimte voor drankjes en/of gerechten. Heel vervelend dat we de taal spreken, dus konden we ‘meegenieten’ van bekenden die zonder reservering binnenkwamen en voor werden getrokken. Moet zeggen dat we niet de enigen waren; er stonden 20 man te wachten. Een grote ongeorganiseerde bende, kruis erdoorheen en nooit meer.

Da primeira vez fomos a um sábado e gostamos muito. Decidimos repetir e voltamos para um almoço e UAU. Estava tudo incrível! Eu pedi bacalhau á lagareiro e estava perfeito. O meu marido comeu bife com molho de cogumelos e estava divinal. Tudo cozinhado na perfeição e muito saboroso. Vamos voltar de certeza !

Lovely restaurant, very much focussed on Portugese kitchen. Amazing wines, food and service. It has two downstairs areas and an upstairs. We were not very hungry so we just had some starters. They were served as tapas and were all very nice. Will be back!

Amazing small scale LIVE fado with the important artist Maria de Fátima and her team accompanied by amazing dishes (Pasteis de Bacalhau, Rissois de Camarão, Soupa de Caldo verde and Bacalhau á Bras remain my favorite). It felt as if I was in Lisbon that evening!

On a rainy day we could use some Portuguese influences and decided to have lunch here. Many people always raved about this place so it was time to try it out for themselves. We arrived a little earlier than the reservation, but that was no problem. They were still busy getting started, but there was enough attention for us. The interior is simple with rustic wooden tables and chairs. The murals are very nicely done. To start we chose the bread with herb butter, anchovy butter, olives and lupine beans. The latter were quite salty. The soft round bread looked like it had been reheated as the inside was very dry but as long as it was still warm it was tasty. The sourdough-like bread was quite dry and tough. This bread was served with many dishes and I thought it was a shame that we barely ate it. The ham, aged for 36 months, was very tasty. Especially in combination with the herb butter and sardine pate. The pork belly was simple but good. I had imagined something completely different than thick slices of roasted bacon. The chourico was nicely served on a small BBQ in the shape of a pig. The sausage was coarse in texture and tasty but also very salty. The sardine was fine. As main courses we chose the bacalhau with potatoes because the octopus was not there. The potatoes were of good quality and very tasty. Because the fish was of course first salted, it has a special smell. The taste was nice, but too salty for me. I regretted not listening to the host's suggestion to take the açorda de gamba e carabinero. As a second dish we chose the arroz de marisco. I expected a little more rice with this dish, it was mainly a lot of shells and 2 shrimps. For dessert we chose the pastel de nata. Light flakey crispy on the outside and slightly chewy dough on the inside with a not too sweet custard with a scoop of ice cream next to it served with cookie crumbs and cinnamon. A nice ending to lunch.

We had a late lunch here this afternoon. It was delicious. Recommended.

Very friendly staff! No haute cuisine but ordinary, honest cuisine

Acoustics are fatal, at our table it was difficult to hear the person sitting opposite you. Tables are very small, you can't put anything on them. The food: the ham had certainly not been aged for 36 months, it was a young raw ham, still wet. The grilled bacalhau was so salty that those who ate it had a dry throat all night! The soup of the day (fish soup) was without taste, too watery and the seafood was tough and reheated for too long. The cocktails were tasty. All in all, price-quality is incredibly out of balance. Shame.

I couldn't recommend this place more: Great food, friendly staff and good service. It starts with the great ambiance and atmosphere, it is located next to the square where the sidewalk opens to a set of nice and cozy bars, and the decoration inside is simple and follows the Portuguese culture. I went with my family (Portuguese) and we all felt a bit at home with the super warm staff. The variety of the dishes is quite nice, meat cuts and fish, small medium and big dishes. We chose to get smaller dishes and octopus, we shared everything and all the portions were as described, fresh and well served. Plus they have a very nice wine card and we followed the house wine. The prices are not the lowest but it also reflects in the quality of the food and service, therefore is reasonable. It's a nice place to gather friends and family, or something more intimate like a date.

Overall it’s okay but the garlic bread was really too old to be served. Service was not really professional in many regards, maybe they’re all new. Almost every encounter/conversation had problems…

It's a nice Portuguese restaurant. You think that Portugal has a cuisine, but you think of it as Mediterranean cuisine and enjoy seafood. The octopus and seafood were good, but I can't say it was super good, the fried fish was not good at all.

Recommended to us by a friend.Did not disappoint. €25 per person for a selection of dishes.Also I think after the 2nd hour it becomes an all you can eat but we were all knocked out before that.Service was helpful and our dining experience was smooth.Nice wine also priced at €3,75.All and all a value for money experience!

Reception was a bit clumsy, they were still busy with many things. But once at our table we were given the menu. Ordered Vongole and shrimp as a starter. Main courses were also excellent. Friendly staff and nice food on the menu.

Ate chicken with piri piri and fries. The chicken was quite lukewarm so it could have been a little warmer. The fries were really tasty 10/10. For dessert I ate a chocolate cake that was really a 10/10! Staff was friendly and the place looks nice and cozy. It is a bit on the pricey side for the portion you get and for the lukewarm food.

Typical Portuguese in a positive sense! Typical dishes on the menu! Delicious and very well seasoned! Why the point deduction? Because the prices for the portion sizes are simply too high. Furthermore, the waiters are nice, but not very attentive. We had to keep asking for drinks before anyone came. Tarta Chocolat was no longer there, but instead of offering an alternative, they said “Tough luck!” And, the espresso tastes terrible - that shouldn't happen to a Portuguese restaurant!

Good and very professional service! Food I think I was unlucky! The starters were good but the seafood rice was very weak! It looked like a soup… weak in flavor and seafood diversity! In the end for 3 people we paid almost €300 (wine included). Unfortunately, it wasn't the best experience.

As a Portuguese I can say that Restaurant Portugalia in Rotterdam is really a piece of home. The dishes are authentic and perfectly convey the flavors of Portugal. The bacalhau and the grilled octopus are especially delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to discover or relive Portuguese cuisine!

The food was amazing the atmosphere was authentic and the staff were passionate. My mom and I wanted to try several small dishes and ended up asking a staff member for a recommendation. He recommended us a shrimp dish with a bread base which was a challenging but ultimately powerful dish. the recommendation was honest and personal which truly enhanced our dining experience and brought a special connection to the meal. We left feeling touched and happily full.

It was very bad. I had high expectations because of the high reviews. I live in Portugal and was back in the Netherlands for a while. The food had little flavor and was extremely expensive for what you got. A deception. In addition, the restaurant was much too large, which meant it had little atmosphere. Shame.
