We come here every year to eat spare ribs 😄 I highly recommend it. The service is super friendly and they even speak German 😁

Just ate here last night paid 23 € for a 4 oz steak. They offer it as a special to lure you in. Be aware stay away. The waiter will be nice to you then you sit down and he disappears. He’s only worried about getting new customers. Looks like a great place to eat stay far away!

The food is great, and filling. The owner is a top bloke, has a laugh and has great atmosphere in his restaurant. Always there to help out.

Having been to Japan many times, I can confidently say that the ramen served here is the best I've had so far away from the origin of this dish. Every time i sip on the broth, I am transported back to the time where I was in a japanese Izakaya and i felt all the good memories rushing back to me. The atmosphere upstairs in the ramen bar is like a slice taken out of the japanese homeland and placed in this beautiful dutch city for its roots to spread. The staff are also very freindly and arevery fun to talk to. 10 out of 10! Would eat again... preferebly every day!

We wanted to eat ramen. The mostly very good reviews (which I find incomprehensible in retrospect) led us to go in. We were somewhat surprised to find that steak and burgers are served in the same restaurant, and that everything comes from the same kitchen. That should have raised a red flag. The ramen portions are large. And they're not completely bad, but they're not really good either, and they only seem to know Asia from a map. The broth is from a packet, and the noodles are rather bland. It really does seem to be a purely touristy place. Anyone who wants to eat (really) good ramen should be prepared to travel a few minutes further. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio isn't right for me either. The staff were friendly.

On the first floor is an advertised ramen restaurant. Only when we heard the identical music from the steakhouse below did we realize it was the same place. The menu is laminated like a placemat and can be read quickly: no highlights, no surprises. There were eleven of us. Everyone ordered ramen; the food took quite a while. The waiter only worked on the ground floor and didn't clear the tables promptly. I had to go downstairs and ask if we could pay. From then on, things became awkward and unfriendly. I pointed out that we wanted to pay separately. Nevertheless, he printed out the bill and put it in front of me. When I mentioned that I had already told him this, he became rude and snappy. My impression: pure tourist trap. Better to go to the side streets for more authentic food.

Complete utter waste of money, severely overpriced, barely got 4 bites of meat out of my steak the whole piece was just full of fat throughout never seen a steak as fatty before, stay clear unless you want to spend €100 on absolutely nothing and leave hungry

We went in with me, my friend and our wives. 2 pwoplw ordered drinks and we heard it was mandatory for everyone to buy drinks. Like we got send outside.... Never in my life i witnessed this customer service.

I met the very kind and helpful manager, Mehmet, just after arriving rather early in the day to Amsterdam. He immediately made me feel welcome and at home. I ended up enjoying the English Vegetarian Breakfast, which was not only perfectly made, but expeditiously delivered. The quality of the food is unmatched and exceptional. The food was so good, I ended up choosing to enjoy breakfast each day there for my entire week's long vacation. The service there is swift, with impressive precision, and always with a smile. On my next vacation to Amsterdam, there's no doubt that I'll once again be happily enjoying my breakfasts at the Restaurant at James.

Breakfast yesterday left a good impression. The food arrived very quickly, and everything was delicious and fresh. I'd especially like to commend the hostess: she greeted us in Latvian, which was nice and made us feel like we were being cared for. Overall, the service was excellent and the breakfast was excellent.

Better than expected. We had five different dishes, all of which were delicious. The service was friendly and attentive.

We had to wait 40 minutes. Others who came after us (a huge group, at least 25 people!!) were served before us. Drinks tasted like water. The food was okay. When paying, we had to get the manager because she couldn't give us change. Never again.

We had spare ribs, but they weren't anything special: a lot of sauce, and some pieces were even a bit burnt. I didn't mention this at the time. The service was good, but I wouldn't eat here again anytime soon.

The service was beyond my expectations. In my first visit, the waiter kindly suggested me how to use the salt and pepper tools which I was using it in a wrong way. It’s always nice to get unexpected help in a distant place. In my second visit, the waiter remembered me well and also did another surprising service. I ordered one menu and asked to share for two people. I was expecting two sets of utensils only but we received two equivalent set menu, each in half portion. The tastes wasn’t the best I had in Amsterdam, but the service was really impressive.

Had a great steak and great service at this place! Tico was our host and was very welcoming to the city and helpful with advice for first time tourists. I enjoyed my time at this restaurant most out of all the places we ate on our trip, thank you guys!

I ate a steak there. Somehow it doesn't match the price

For the price, avoid at all costs. There's certainly a lot of meat, but it's undercooked. The fried schnitzel was dry, the sauce pouches were carelessly thrown on top of the food, and the waitress was rude. The toilet was a bit tricky; the handle stayed in my hand, luckily the square side was inside. I don't recommend it at all.

The food was fine for what it was, but the prices were extortionate. I don't mind paying high prices if I'm getting value for money, but unfortunately not the case with this restaurant. A very small plate of salmon with salad and fries cost €31. It was more akin to a child's portion to be perfectly honest, and put me off ever returning.

Excellent restaurant right in the center of Amsterdam, with delicious dishes and affordable prices. A superb discovery for eating well without breaking the bank! In addition, the servers are very pleasant. I recommend without hesitation!

I came to At' James with my family for my birthday and the food was very tasty and not too pricey except for the drinks, which were expensive. After dinner we received the bill for €150, a little later the boss/workers came to our table and brought a Cheesecake with a candle on it and sang me a birthday song, I was very satisfied.

Despite the negative reviews, I had good, friendly and attentive service and the food was very tasty. We ordered the most popular dish and were not surprised. The only downside was that they don't serve Coca Cola, but Pepsi Cola, but that was no problem. Regarding the price, it is in a tourist area and therefore within the standards.

Great location, and only all you can eat ribs around But ribs are pretty dry and bad taste. Owner is loud and kinda bothers others people around him. Waiter I think only care about new customers to take order but the current ones are not well taken care off. And water is 4euro

My filet was the worst filet I have ever had, I ordered it cooked medium but what arrived was a burnt piece of leather that tasted like gas. I have never had issues cutting a filet with a steak knife but this steak was so tough it was impossible to cut with a steak knife. There was so much sour cream on the potato that is was ruined. My husband enjoyed his ribs, said they had a nice flavor and were tender. The server was very attentive and the host quickly moved the table next to us to a larger table when there group unexpectedly added a few more guest and thought is would be OK to sit at our table with us. I was very grateful when the host came and insisted they move to a table to could accommodate them. I enjoyed the outside seating.
