Abierto para el almuerzo del domingo, este restaurante es una verdadera joya. El pan de patata es exquisito, pero la verdadera estrella para mí fue el sarro de ternera que fue una de las mejores cosas que he comido. Ahumado, con pequeñas explosiones de sabor de bayas y hongos. El entorno es hermoso al lado del canal en Bierkade, y el servicio era perfecto: amable y servicial, pero no exagerado. ¡No te pierdas!

Este restaurante cuenta con la mejor comida de La Haya. El restaurante tiene un menú corto, pero cada elemento de la carta es espectacular. Fui con mi familia y todo el mundo disfrutó de la comida (incluidos nuestros hijos, que son comedores quisquillosos! )

Un pequeño restaurante fantástico. Digno de todo el reconocimiento y elogio. El servicio fue cálido, genuino y amable sin ser dominante. La comida era sencilla, pero elegante. Extremadamente bien hecho y con sabor. Y la carta de vinos era realmente maravilloso. No puedo recomendar Basaal lo suficientemente alto.

What a disappointment. Michelin sign on the facade pretends a lot, but it certainly does not live up to it in taste, preparation, originality or quality. A hobby chef does better at home.

The restaurant had a nice cosy atmosphere with matching music in the background. The staff was very friendy and gave us good advice on matching wines. The food was really tasty and there was the possibility to share all the dishes. We really enjoyed our dinner!

Yesterday we celebrated the special anniversary of my uncle and aunt, who have been together for 50 years. Organizing a party for 41 guests can always involve some uncertainties, but we are very happy and grateful for the great service of restaurant Basaal. From the start everything went smoothly thanks to their excellent communication, careful organization and enormous flexibility. When additional guests unexpectedly joined, this was accommodated without any difficulty. The food was truly sublime! We have received nothing but positive comments from all our guests. We really enjoyed the delicious dishes, the warm atmosphere and the great attention of the staff. Thanks to restaurant Basaal, this evening became unforgettable. We will definitely come back here with great pleasure 😃!

Great spot right on the canal. Friendly and relaxed service. Interesting and innovative dishes. My highlight was the starter with bread and anchovies.

Really delicious food. We had already had a few drinks on the terrace a few times, so expectations were quite high, but we were certainly not disappointed. Highlights were the mussels in cider and the veal tongue. Basaal has an amazing wine list with affordable wine of excellent quality. The staff knows what they are talking about. Knowledgeable and fun. It wasn't completely full, but Basaal deserves that. Highly recommended.

Had a delicious meal at Basaal. This was anything but basic. The basic thing is the recognizability of the ingredients of the dishes. Small and larger dishes intended as food sharing. The taste is excellent. We licked the sauce or dressing with our fingers for each dish. And this combined with tasty, unusual wines

Went there after reading the reviews. The result was disappointing. Limited choices were available, and the portion was small. Ordered rack of pork costs 40 EURO, it was difficult to cut by a knife and teeth.

The food was again very DELICIOUS, but also a compliment to the caring, patient and sweet staff. We also enjoyed sitting by the water! The chairs and sofas without cushions are very hard, sometimes it takes some searching, especially for an 86-year-old mother. Maybe fixed cushions on them? But that's just thinking along and not criticism! Enjoyed!!!! Diamond in The Hague. Until next time.

First meal in the Netherlands and it was such a wonderful experience. The staff was so nice and so accommodating, and the food, so delectable!

Basaal offers a sustainably sourced, well curated menu with great attention to detail. It's a new discovery for us, we stopped by for a small dinner for 2 so we could only try their smaller dishes but we were surprised by how delicious every plate was and how each component in the dish complements one another. We ordered the pork and duck terrine, mussels with miso and cider, veal tongue and the ricotta dumplings. The mussels were by far our favorite, the broth was incredibly savory and so balanced that you could drink it on its own. They have a good wine menu as well, with decent selections per glass. The staff is knowledgeable about both the dishes and the wines. We were satisfied with the service, they were helpful and kind. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is very modern yet cozy, and the window seats have a nice view of the street. We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

Had a reservation, asked for a table that was available. The waitress was unhelpful and said that we can only have the table randomised by their system, a bad table by the road. So we left before we ordered food, I heard it was good. The restaurant is really pretty. I’m only writing this so if a manager is reading, they might teach their employees some customer service skills.

We also ate here a few years ago. The cuisine was already very good and has become even better. This time we were allowed to indicate whether we wanted to share the dishes or not. We wanted to share and ate 4 courses. We ordered delicious bread (including special potato bread) and drank a simple, tasty wine. The seats are a bit hard as are the acoustics. The service is friendly. We would love to come back for the delicious food and relaxed atmosphere. This summer evening we had a nice sit on the attractive, historic canal. The service was friendly and they knew well what they were serving. The dishes (which you could order for yourself alone, or to share, the latter we did) were delicious: very tasty mussels with an original foam sauce that had a lot of flavor in itself, but the mussels did not dominate, then an old-fashioned French terrine with garnish, fine. The veal shoulder, next, was tender and flavorful, as was the subsequent pork belly with tasty fresh vegetables. Cheese plate was of good quality. Only the last two things were a bit disappointing: the chocolate dessert was much and less special than the savory dishes. The coffee was missing a small cookie or chocolate. All in all we had a great evening and had a delicious meal. Basaal is highly recommended and we would love to come back.

Clear menu with nice dishes, which can be ordered individually or as shared dining. Definitely tasty. Also interesting wine list. Sympathetic service. Good price-quality. The ambiance is quite minimalist: small tables, ascetic chairs, a bit canteen-like.

We were delighted with how delicious everything was at restaurant Basaal. From the beautiful atmosphere, the service and the incredibly fresh food. We loved it all. My favorite was the ceviche like dish with seabream, basil and green strawberries. Delicious!

Helaas een teleurstellende eetervaring gehad. Wij vonden de smaken niet in orde en de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding slecht. De wijn had geen geur en smaak, het leek wel of het een laatste restje uit de fles was. Onze feedback ter plaatse werd niet erg op prijs gesteld, ze hadden nog nooit zulke opmerkingen gehad. Interpretatie van onze kant: wij waren een stelletje zeurpieten die er niets van begrepen.

Had reserved a table at short notice. Our evening was perfect. The waitress was very accommodating. The food was a dream, we once ordered the wild garlic spaetzle and the Cote de Veau. The price is a little higher, but you can taste the quality. Happy to come back :)

This is one of my favorite restaurants in The Hague, if not my favorite. All the dishes are balanced and the portions are not too stingy. The staff is also great at recommending good wine pairings and the ambiance is great year-round. We’ve had a cozy dinner inside, but we’ve also enjoyed sitting in the sun right by the channel. I really like how the chef doesn’t try to be fussy by adding too many elements or ingredients to the plate. Everything is restrained. In my opinion the thing that makes this place really unique is that the chef pays attention to texture when composing dishes. Every dish has contrasting textures (crunchy, smooth, etc.) and elements that elevate the eating experience. I was impressed with how this was carried through throughout several courses. There are very few places in The Hague that pay attention to this. Order a-la-carte, go for a set menu, it doesn’t matter! It’s all great.

What a nice thing. Delicious cocktail (with beer and rum 😍) and bread from the wood oven to start; then deliciously rich dishes with their own signature. A delicious sauce and beautiful vegetable preparations accompany the wild duck; Unfortunately the paw was very dry, but that was really the only thing that was less so. We will definitely come back!

I made a reservation around 8 o'clock on a weekday, but in the end I almost got in without making a reservation. We chose venison tartare and duck meat dishes. It was delicious, but it had a unique taste that seemed to differ from person to person. (November 2023)

Heerlijk gegeten en gedronken, aardappel brood was nieuw voor me en heerlijk!

Eten vond ik dit keer wat minder, ben met van Basaal gewend. Voorgerecht met spruiten mocht iets langer gekookt, en de eend bij het hoofdgerecht was wel erg rood. Wel jammer, want de gerechten zijn altijd erg bijzonder hier. Wijntjes zijn ook erg lekker, beetje duur maar erg goed met fijne uitleg van de bediening. Al met al wel voor herhaling vatbaar, maar de kok mag iets beter opletten ;)

Fantastische avond gehad bij basaal. Heerlijke gerechtjes,fijn ook om te delen. Complimenten voor de wijnkaart,wij hebben genoten van een formidabele chenin blanc. Een plek om vaker naar terug te keren!

Honestly we left with a bit of mixed feelings, lovely food and good service, however working with 2 hours slots feels a bit hasty, and where we sat was not comfortable and was a lot of wind, each time the door opened and closed. For this price range I would expect more comfort.

Na verschillende aanbevelingen zijn we hier eens gaan eten, met goede verwachtingen. Helaas kwamen deze niet helemaal uit. We kozen voor alle voorgerechten. De terrine was aan de droge kant en miste wat diepgang. De bieten met geitenkaas, vijgen en radicchio sloeg de plank compleet mis: het was een paarse hoop op een bord, waarbij de bittere smaak van de radicchio veel te veel overheerste en bovendien nog een bijna verbrande smaak had. Aan de andere kant waren de mosselen met miso wel erg smaakvol, en het tartaar met gerookte haringmayonaise was aangenaam, maar niet bijzonder. De hoofdgerechten waren eveneens weinig verbluffend. De runderwang was saai en van matige kwaliteit, evenals de ricotta dumplings. Het is niet dat het slecht eten was, maar voor de flinke prijzen (€24,50 voor een klein bordje - €16,50 voor de voorgerechten) en kleine porties die geboden werden, was de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding totaal niet in evenwicht. Voor de wijnen gold hetzelfde. De eerste witte wijn - die sowieso veel te koud geserveerd werd - had echt geen €36 mogen kosten en deed onder voor menig supermarktwijn. Tussen de (volle) rode wijnen was er sowieso weinig keuze onder de €50 per fles, waarna we besloten voor een witte Rioja te gaan die wel erg goed was. Tel bij deze ervaring op dat de bediening verschillende fouten maakte, onze billen aardig stijf werden van de houten schoolstoeltjes zonder kussens en er tot drie keer toe werd gepusht om het aardappelbrood te bestellen. Kortom, geen slecht restaurant, maar de prijzen zijn naar onze mening te hoog voor de matige kwaliteit die er geboden werd. Daar kun je veel beter voor uit eten, op plekken waar je verrast wordt door smaakcombinaties en kwaliteit.

Mijn partner heeft mij hier vorig week meegenomen voor mijn verjaardag en het was een super ervaring. We werden al direct heel vriendelijk ontvangen. De dame wist gelijk wie we waren en wat onze dieetwensen zijn. Een stukje persoonlijke aandacht. Er was voor ons genoeg keuze ondanks we geen rund en varkensvlees eten. Wij hebben incl. desserts 7 gerechten besteld en alles was heerlijk. Nooit gedacht dat een bieten salade zo lekker kan zijn. Wij komen zeker weten terug en zullen het bij iedereen aanraden.

No wonder this restaurant is listed in bib gourmand Michelin guide. The food is delicious, sustainably sourced and beautifully presented. We ordered warm, soft flatbread that beautifully soaked-in the olive oil. Terrine was savoury and paired so well with their prune sauce. My favourite would be the ex-dairy cow, with celeriac, girolles and onion. It was really tender, had different textures on the plate and packed a lot of flavour. Pommes Darphin as a side is highly recommended! Service was impeccable and they have lovely terrace seating which extends to the canal bank. Overall, we had a wonderful dinner.

Heerlijke avond gehad aan het water. Super leuke plek en fijn dat we op de zomerse zondagnamiddag al op tijd konden genieten van het lekkere eten. Vriendelijke en kundige bediening en gerechten om je vingers bij af te likken. Als we weer in de buurt zijn komen we zéker terug! p.s. De dumplings mag je écht niet missen. VERUKKELIJK!

Alles klopte! Het eten is gebalanceerd en met zorg bedacht en bereid. De liefde voor het eten en producten is te voelen en te smaken! De service was uitstekend, we werden goed geadviseerd over de wijnen en kwamen niets te kort. Een super aanrader op de sfeervolle Bierkade!

Geweldig eten! De radicchio met bramen en ajo blanco 🤤🤤 Pieterman was top!! Maar ook de ricotta dumplings, en het varken waren uiterst proffesioneel en kundig bereid. In tijden niet zo verrast in een restaurant. Echt top, mijn complimenten! 👌

Basaal is een heerlijke plek in Den Haag om te dineren! Het eten is fantastisch, veel keus voor wijn en goeie service. Het menu is gevarieerd en heeft geweldige smaken!

Afgelopen vrijdag heb ik voor het eerst genoten van een onvergetelijke ervaring bij Basaal Restaurant, waar ik aangenaam werd verrast door de heerlijke gerechten en voortreffelijke service. Ik kan dit gastronomische paradijs ten zeerste aanbevelen aan wijnliefhebbers en fijnproevers die op zoek zijn naar een buitengewone culinaire belevenis.

Heerlijk gegeten bij Basaal. De gerechten zijn net schilderijtjes vol met smaak en origineel. Alles was lekker. De bediening is erg aardig en vakkundig. Ze weten veel over de wijnen en de wijnen zijn goed. Je kunt kiezen uit een breed assortiment wijnen per glas, maar natuurlijk ook per fles. De sfeer van het restaurant is gezellig en erg hangt mooie kunst. We komen zeker terug.
