Bird is a wonderful restaurant. Good, friendly service, a lovely terrace, and above all, excellent food. Very flavorful and with lovely combinations.

What a wonderful evening we had at this innovative restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the friendly staff, who guided us through the evening with genuine attention and expertise. We chose the 5-course surprise menu. The evening began with a delicious amuse-bouche that immediately set the tone: creative and balanced. Each course that followed was a surprise, both in presentation and flavor. Each dish was paired with a glass from a carefully selected selection of fine wines. Bird offers a culinary experience that delicately incorporates Asian influences with a modern twist. Highly recommended.

Welleterras: Beautiful location on the IJssel and a tastefully decorated terrace. The location, the view and the general atmosphere of the Bird IJsselterras are without a doubt excellent. The terrace is beautifully designed and fits in perfectly with the surroundings of Deventer. This is evidence of a clear vision of the owner, who has thought carefully about what this place needs. What unfortunately detracts from the experience is the service staff. The friendliness and customer focus leave a lot to be desired on busy days. A training in hospitality or a sharper selection of temporary summer staff would really complete the picture and make the Bird terrace an absolute must.

On 18-05-'25 with 6 people (Family) visited for the 1st time and certainly not the last time. The surprise dinner was certainly Phenomenal fantastic good taste from the Asian country prepared by the Chef. Here I will definitely come back with my Family. We hebben heerlijk gegeten. Het restaurant zit op mooie plek op een gezellig plein. De bediening is erg vriendelijk en gastvrij.

Normaal ga ik nooit een beoordeling schrijven over een restaurant. Maar 2 keer door me zusje mee genomen en weer verrast. Dus bij deze verdienen jullie mijn eerste beoordeling ooit over een restaurant. Dit keer door het dessert amuse. Als jaren ervaren chef ben ik eens verrast door iets wat geniaal bedacht is. Hand gegeven aan de chef en eigenaar en gemeld dat dit er niet af mag. Nieuwe locatie is zeker mooi. Vorige locatie was knus en gezellig maar doet het er niet minder aan om op de nieuwe locatie te eten. Service scherp en ziet wanneer je de aandacht nodig hebt die je verdiend. Dank en tot de volgende keer.

Sfeervolle en rustgevende locatie waar we hebben genoten van een high-end verrassingsdiner. Het verrassingsdiner bevatte, voor ons nog veelal, onbekende Aziatische gerechten, die stuk voor stuk in de smaak vielen en prachtig werden uit geserveerd. Daarnaast was de service ook uitstekend en werd het eten in een prettig tempo uitgeserveerd. Hart en ziel is in Bird is gestoken en dat proef en voel je in de details waar zoveel aandacht in is gestoken. Aanrader!

Fantastic shared dining! I have been there twice now and am always surprised at how nice and delicious it was. It really is a taste sensation. And they provide enough variety in the dishes. I took Menu 4 both times with some bites beforehand. (The pork belly was really mega!) That was fine for us in terms of quantity. The staff is very professional and kind. The chef (or kitchen staff) will also explain the food with full passion. Very nice thing! Will definitely come back.

Overnight stay during the renovation. Simple room without TV fridge (fridge in the central kitchen with coffee/tea option) Loft-like room. Excellent beds and no trouble from the bells of the beautiful church. Location very nice and quiet. Price quality not in balance. (Perhaps due to renovation?) Incl breakfast it would be a bit more in balance. Luggage storage facilities are nice.

NB; they have already moved/are moving. Enjoyed Bird and his team's food several times after the opening, including again last Christmas 2024. The flavors are not basic so you have to like them (if you only eat fries and frikadel, you're in the wrong place). You will be served different dishes. The main courses are served with rice and/or noodles. The service is also of good quality.

Geweldig restaurant. Je kan kiezen tussen 4 of 5 gerechten. Alles gebaseerd op de Aziatische keuken en verder laat je je verrassen. Wij waren getipt en gunnen iedereen ook een bezoek aan Bird.

Ik ben hier al diverse keren geweest, en ik blijf hier maar terugkomen, en elke keer weer word ik weer enorm verrast door de gastvrijheid, fantastische combinaties en explosies van smaken in al die gerechtjes bij Bird die je, naar mijn ervaring althans, nergens anders gaat tegenkomen. Dit restaurant is toch wel echt een enorme verrijking voor Deventer moet ik zeggen, echt een pareltje die je eerder in een stad als Amsterdam of Den Haag zou verwachten. Bijzonder knap hoe ze keer op keer weer van al die verschillende ingrediënten toch heel bijzondere en ongeëvenaarde smaakvolle gerechten weten te maken. Dit zijn toch echt wel culinaire creaties die het woord 'genieten' een nieuwe lading geven. Zonder twijfel het allerbeste restaurant van Deventer!

Nice location, a nice concept with surprising dishes and very friendly service! We went for the 5-course surprise menu with starters and gyozas and pork belly skewers. Both starters were great. I honestly found the amuses with the 5-course menu too little in taste and actually deserve better. The 5 different dishes are served at the same time. The meat dish and the duck dish really stood out and were very tasty! I found the fish dishes a little less special, and the dessert had a rather pronounced taste and you have to like that. That was neatly mentioned before serving. Conclusion: good food in a casual and cozy atmosphere in Deventer!

Het stelt hier nooit teleur. Het eten is geweldig en het personeel altijd vriendelijk. De sfeer en het uitzicht op de IJssel maakt het helemaal af.

Das Essen und der Service waren einfach nur mega gut. Spontan im Bird gewesen und wir haben alles sehr genossen. Den Haus-Aperitif, das 4 Shared Dining (4) bis zur Nachspeise. Besser geht es kaum. Auch preislich alles sehr gut. Da stimmt einfach das Gesamtkonzept. Vielen Dank für diesen wundervollen Abend - es war für uns ein Erlebnis. Klare Empfehlung!!!

The starters were very tasty and the service was great. It is well explained what is served, so you have to try to remember that. I found the main courses disappointing, everything contained sauces, especially a lot of curry flavour. I thought the acoustics were a disaster. It was virtually impossible to have a conversation with my table partner. Furthermore, I found the temperature very warm, but that could definitely have been my fault. I certainly don't like large menus, but I would still like to make my own choice from, for example, 3 choices, with my diabetes a surprise menu remains a bit tricky. The non-alcoholic cocktails are delicious.

By far het lekkerste restaurant dat er is in Deventer. De sfeer, het eten en het uitzicht is perfect. Dit zou in de top 3 als nummer 1 moeten staan.

Heerlijk eten met fantastische smaken en ook geweldige drankjes zoals chang bier en kombucha sour. Ook de mocktails zijn heel goed.

A delicious 5-course surprise menu. As an appetizer, a Bird GT with pork bacon and crackers. Good advice about the wine, we were even allowed to taste a glass to see if the choice was approved. Staff friendly, helpful and explain everything calmly. Lovely little restaurant, would definitely recommend.

Recommended! Have eaten here several times now. Always a surprise what you get but never disappoints. Good mix of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. In terms of drinks, the Kombucha sour cocktail is highly recommended.

Just 5 stars for everything because everything is just good. On top of the roof terrace you can sit quietly and look out over the IJssel, with a bit of luck a beautiful sunset. This time I ate Catfish for the first time, worth repeating. Good quality food and a pleasant atmosphere without snobbery 😅

We enjoyed it at Bird! Surprising dishes, nice aperitifs, good advice for a matching wine and a delicious dessert. The spontaneous staff creates a nice and relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. We will definitely come back!

Very nice concept where you discover many new and delicious flavor combinations, the dishes vary every period, so definitely a reason to come back more often! The Moo Ping beforehand was also divine, I could actually eat this all evening!

Nice place on the Issel to relax and enjoy the sun and a delicious drink. Drinks are available at a fair price.

Ended up here by chance; what luck. Friendly and attentive service. For the most part the food was really really good. One star less, because a few dishes from the (varied) menu were rather bland in taste. Oh well, there is always room for improvement.

The food was beautifully served and the taste experience was good. However, you only have two choices and everything is on the table at the same time. The fact that you had a vegetarian dish also didn't appeal to me. We sat on the roof terrace with a beautiful view over the IJssel.

A journey of discovery through different dishes where the taste buds are surprised with every dish. And the staff is warm, helpful and very customer-oriented. Summary: highly recommended.

Had a nice meal on the roof terrace of Bird in Deventer. The view over the Ijssel is beautiful, the location absolutely 5 * worthy. The service was professional and friendly. The waiting time until the menu was served was a bit long. The small appetizers and the food were excellent, excellent value for money. A small suggestion: adding a dessert to the surprise menu would complete the culinary experience.

Eh lekker. Amazing quality fresh ingredients combined with the chill out atmosphere makes the perfect scene to escape.......

Yesterday we had dinner at Bird in Deventer. There was no more space on the roof, but space was still created, which was great! Staff is friendly and aware of what they serve, which is a plus. The food itself was delicious, tasty, varied and very tasty for someone who cannot tolerate spicy food. the small containers in which it is served are beautiful to look at. On the other hand, the price is on the high side. You know from the website what to expect, but for such high prices I expect more, for example the appetizer and dessert are included in the price. This is because it is not that much that you leave there full. I don't mean full, full, but with a full feeling. Yes, you can order extra side dishes, but if the containers are empty, dry rice is of no use. All in all very good, but if I were you I would still watch this again. Yours sincerely Monique Terhaar.

Nice restaurant with attentive staff. The concept is that every guest receives a 4 or 5 course surprise menu and a few specials can also be ordered. Ordering specials instead of the surprise menu is not possible. We thought that was a bit of a shame. Food was good although the whitefish and prawns were overcooked and dry. The appetizers could have been more exciting and contrasting in taste, for example an appetizer with 4 different tomato preparations quickly becomes a bite of tomato. And after 4 dishes with 'crisps of...' it starts to feel like a trick.

Had a bite to eat here yesterday and I was very pleasantly surprised. Food was really delicious, service great! Next time I'm in Deventer I will definitely come again!

Beautiful place and delicious food!

Guests: two food snobs (a fussy eater, a fussy drinker) and two no-nonsense bon vivants. First impression of the restaurant: pleasant. First the bad news: parking can be dramatic if you want to spend the cost of a day ticket to dine for a few hours. This was the reason we arrived 10 minutes late. Virgin cocktails soon turned out to be the alcoholic variant. Not good if you want to go to heaven, I imagine. The sweeteners beforehand were not very telling. Quite a lot of speaking engagements too. When you wait 55 minutes for the main course, a well-intentioned 5-minute speech is just a bit too much. Nodding politely, we took in the information while wondering whether the food would taste as good as the story. Then the good news: everything described above no longer mattered after the first bite. The 55 minute wait was short in relation to the enormous variety of dishes served. And the quality, oooooh the quality... was unprecedented. The two snobs looked at each other with smiles, not wanting to be disturbed anymore. Their no-nonsense, bon vivant husbands forgot all the blah blah within 5 seconds and the evening couldn't go wrong anymore. High praise for the chefs. The 5 courses were excellent. I'm not even going to tell you what it consisted of. The extremely friendly service can tell you this in 5 minutes. See you in the summer.

We ended up here via Wijn Spijs. It was very tasty: Gyoza. And the red wine from Italy (Apulia) paired very well with this. We have put the restaurant on our list to really eat out again!

Cozy restaurant. Delicious food, as advertised, adapted Asian cuisine. The dishes are brought right away, which is convenient. Delivery is fast. Drinks are affordable, beer is about 4 euros. We took a set of 3 dishes. More than enough for two. The staff was very friendly, they explained everything and showed unobtrusive attention.

Delicious food! We were not yet familiar with this case and the concept. Staff were extremely friendly and were able to explain to us clearly what the intention was. Once it was on the table, a chef came to explain what exactly was on the table. He did this very nicely and clearly said it with pleasure. Presentation of the dishes was good. Everything looked good! We started with an appetizer, a delicious dumpling. At Bird you don't know in advance what you will get, which is a nice surprise because you get dishes that you have never heard of or even tasted. Really delicious food, and we will definitely come back.

Bijzonder goed restaurant. Heerlijke gerechten, erg prettige bediening. Niet erg groot restaurant, maar erg sfeervol. We komen zeker nog een keer terug. Verder heeft het restaurant op het verlaagde wellepad een prachtig terras waar je prima kunt lunchen of iets kunt drinken. Het is een goed bezocht restaurant, verstandig te reserveren.

Afgelopen vrijdag hier voor het eerst gegeten. Ik had vooraf geen enkel idee wat we qua eten konden verwachten. We hebben uiteindelijk een geweldige avond gehad. De sfeer in het restaurant was erg goed en het personeel erg vriendelijk / gastvrij, maar ook zeker professioneel. Het eten zelf was echt fantastisch qua smaak en beleving. Ook leuk om te zien dat de king prawn op een kleine bbq op tafel werd gezet, of dat de toetjes nog even aan tafel afgemaakt werden. Dat gaf het toch wel extra beleving. De gerechten hadden veel smaak, maar waren niet (te) scherp. Het was een echte avond uit-eten. Bird is zeker een restaurant om naar terug te keren.

Heerlijk gegeten op een leuke plek in Deventer. Nette en vriendelijke bediening en heerlijk eten wat wil je nog meer. Echt een aanrader om heen te gaan als je in Deventer bent.

Vond het eten tegenvallen, zeker als ik de prijzen kijk. In geen van de gerechten was ik echt overtuigd. Erg veel smaken door elkaar heen.

Laatste keer dat wij hier gegeten hadden, was vlak na opening van het restaurant in Covid tijd. De hoogste tijd om het restaurant weer eens te bezoeken dus.. We hebben heerlijk in de zon op het dakterras gezeten. De service was goed en het eten erg verrassend. Het was allemaal erg lekker!

Mijn man en ik zijn voor de eerste keer uit eten geweest bij Bird. Het eten was echt ongelooflijk goed! We hebben allebei heerlijk gegeten. De combinatie van de gerechten en sausjes zijn zo goed op elkaar afgestemd, dat de smaakbeleving echt perfect was. Ook de service was top. Voor ons is Bird absoluut voor herhaling vatbaar.
