Wow, my parents and I had a delicious meal here yesterday. Every dish is a feast and a taste explosion. Everything is beautifully presented. The service is super friendly and it is a restaurant with a great atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!

Fantastic place to eat! The taste is phenomenal, the wines too, the service is sweet and knowledgeable, and the food is finger-licking good. We didn't stay overnight, but I suspect that would be worth 5 stars too. P.S. A true local entrepreneur, with a passion for the craft and for flavors. As far as I'm concerned, the number 1 in Deventer.

You simply have to eat here!! The food at Bird is of exceptional quality and the flavors are overwhelming, as is the presentation of the various dishes. Additionally, the staff is particularly friendly and helpful. As mentioned: this is the place to go for a wonderful culinary evening!

The hotel is situated in a fantastic spot in the city center. It is a small hotel, but with fine rooms. The rooms are spacious and clean. There are three rooms per floor, each with its own "living room." Breakfast is also served there on each floor, which is very extensive, by the way. The staff is friendly and helpful. We parked our car in the parking lot across the IJssel for 1 euro per day. The ferry is 2 euros per person, and you are right next to the hotel. Our room had a lot of natural light. The roller blinds do not close properly, allowing a lot of light to come in during the morning. Our friends' room was at the front. There, you mainly hear the church bells every half hour.

We ate at Bird for the 2nd time. Now at the new location. (Previously on the quay in the old city wall) A big improvement. Not so much the food, that is still just as good as it was back then But definitely the restaurant. More spacious and beautiful. And in the winter, I think it's nice and pleasant too :) Great and tasty dishes. Well-seasoned, everything very delicious. We had the surprise menu, everything was amazing!

Some time ago, we had such a delicious meal here that I didn't dare go back, afraid it would be disappointing. Because it is naturally super stupid not to eat somewhere just because it was so good, we went again yesterday anyway. Fortunately, it was just as fantastic as the first time!! And not only was the food delicious, but the service was friendly, helpful, and skilled again too! We will definitely be back!

When in Deventer you should definitely dine here. We visit Bird quite often and every time is a pleasure. The bites, signature drinks & shared dining menu; everything is beyond expectations and well priced.

Wonderful location, terrific beds and superb breakfasts! The service is great and when you are struggling with your internet connection, they will step in amd help you. Truly great!

Very beautiful location, lovely staff, we were able to check in a bit earlier, so that was all great. Nothing wrong with the room itself, until the sun shines directly into your head through the completely transparent curtains at 5 in the morning and you can't get a wink of sleep. When you report this at the front desk, they just blithely say, "Oh yeah, that's just how it is in that room." It's incomprehensible that they don't address such a simple problem once it's known. A real waste of the €135.

We ate at Bird in Deventer for the second time and enjoyed it immensely once again. The food was delicious, surprising, and truly an experience. We had also booked a room, but with 34 degrees outside and 33 degrees in the room without air conditioning, that was unfortunately not an option for us. That is why we eventually went to another hotel. The restaurant remains highly recommended; we will certainly be happy to return for the food!

What a fantastic experience at this restaurant in Deventer. From the moment we sat down at the beautifully weathered table, we knew this would be a special afternoon. The presentation of every dish is truly a work of art. The small bites in the decorative bowls on the rocky surface, in particular, looked beautiful and tasted delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the surprising flavors and the lovely atmosphere at the Grote Kerkhof. It was a delight right down to the last bite. We would love to come back here for another round.

What a fantastic location. Very beautiful rooms. Unique decor. Delicious breakfast served in the shared kitchen, where you can also have a drink in the evening. Right in the center and close to everything.

Nicely decorated, comfortable chairs. Tasty amuse-bouches. Noodle soup in the first round was well-seasoned, ‘tartar’ was fine. Second round: dry fish in a bland sauce and a mediocre dumpling dish. The side dishes in the second round did not match the main courses at all. I pointed this out to the staff, but apart from surprise, there was no response. It was a disappointment, especially because of that second round. Finally, the shared dining concept feels mainly like a convenient way to serve food to a group. For example, I would rather have tartar on my own plate than have the two of us spoon it from one plate.

I love Asian cuisine in general, and fusion in particular. In the Netherlands there are only a few who manage to really surprise me with unique tastes and flavours. And now one of those is in my home town! Great food, great service and a staff that seem to enjoy giving you a great culinary experience!

We ate here and overall it was delicious. If you love Asian cuisine, this is the place to be. With the starter, we were lucky enough to notice in time that it contained chorizo, as we had indicated we don't eat pork. Fortunately, things went well after that. Actually, all courses were tasty. The amuse-bouche, soup with asparagus and fish tartare (the soup in particular was very flavorful), and we had the dumplings as an extra dish, were certainly worth it. Because of that, the "open dumplings" with minced chicken paled in the background a bit. The beef in that course was also supposed to be tender but was a bit tough in places. The fish curry was tasty. If you like sweet desserts, this isn't a match; it was also very spiced and, as far as I'm concerned, a bit too heavy. All in all, highly recommended! Had a nice and tasty evening. 4 stars instead of 5 for a few points.

Just an update to my previous review. I ate at Bird yesterday at their new location. The food and staff were still top-notch. However, we were seated in the basement, and that was very disappointing. The acoustics were so bad that it became really noisy. Explanations about what was on the table were sometimes inaudible. And having a conversation with fellow diners was also quite difficult. There were simply way too many people in a space that was too small with particularly poor acoustics. A visit to Bird is recommended, but make sure you definitely don't sit in the basement!! On May 18, 2025, I visited with six people (family) for the first time and definitely not the last. The surprise dinner was absolutely phenomenal, fantastically good Asian flavors prepared by the chef. I will definitely return with my family. Owner/Landlady, you have a wonderful, tasteful restaurant. Congratulations, six satisfied guests. My wish for all of you: much light, love, strength, and warmth. Until next time, six satisfied customers.

The room without a TV and with the completely open bathroom area takes some getting used to. However, it was stylish and something different. The Wi-Fi worked very well, so I didn't miss anything. Power outlets at the table would have been helpful. The restaurant was very well-maintained, and the staff was absolutely top-notch. Even a small, handwritten card tailored specifically to me, presented with the bill, was an extremely thoughtful touch. Unfortunately, the location is right in the city center, so there's no direct parking. The nearest parking garage is about a 5-minute walk away, but you can unload your luggage there and then park your car. If you want to eat out or explore the city, this is obviously the best place, and I think it will be especially convenient in the summer.

BIRD, you were fantastic!! The food was so exquisite, the explanations, and the fact that some dishes were topped off at the table made it special! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. And then there's the view of the beautiful Lebuinis Church and its surroundings. If you've visited the beautiful city of Deventer, I definitely recommend staying at Bird. Come for the food. City for the night!

I ate here with my friends on Saturday, November 22nd. What a taste sensation, the food was truly fantastic. Friendly staff and a beautiful location. Afterward, we slept here; comfortable beds and a good mattress. And in the morning, our breakfast was ready. Delicious, fresh, and extensive. Highly recommended.

I think it was the best food I've had in years. The menu was very carefully composed. All the flavors complemented each other, and the dishes complemented each other. The service and atmosphere of the restaurant were also very pleasant.

Now that we have moved from the quay to the car park, it is high time to watch the bird deaventer behind them. Wiej strolls and still caresses with admiration about that first meal two years ago. Can the doubling of space also help taste? The only point that can be thought of is that, even though the space is so great, the wings are still quite crinkly packed on top of each other. Setting the töafelkes fire is yes, even as far as the ceiling is concerned. I could eat something from each other's counter. Even if that were to happen, it would still be understandable, because it is unbelievable what happens on the table. A jelly-like flavor starter of horseradish and roasted corn sets a tone, soft and slightly salty. Fire and convenience come with a spoonful. That doesn't apply to the rest. Cutlery can be requested and delivered immediately, but you can also order it with chopsticks. And if you don't want to get up as ignorant, you have to be very tough and heal yourself with verdan, which is beneficial to the experience and the time of playing. In several or five dishes, a piece of fire is artfully decorated with small decorative bluebells or cress (or both), is bombarded with all the flavors the tongue can take. Tempura, crispy deep-fried noodles, heavenly soft beef jerky with teriyaki sauce, yuzu sauce, eande vlei, cucumber... Noa said nothing about it. It's a shame that you have never experienced such dining pleasure before. Oetendelik, every restaurant experience is a snapshot. But if you get up to two times one of the tastiest taste festivals within the 'stewig mer redelik' category, then it is not a pattern at all. Conclusion: There is a genius in the kitchen here. Then I quickly draw the small fire. Three hours later he walks with a book in awe and his papillae are stimulated to pay.

We had a fantastic evening at Bird. We chose the 5-course package, and every dish (including the amuse-bouche and after-dinner treat) was a delight. Wonderful taste sensations we hadn't experienced before, sometimes with explanations from the chef himself. Bird isn't the best for a quick, inexpensive meal or dining with children. But for a wonderful evening of culinary delights, this is the place to be (we spent about 3 hours). One tip: a slightly more extensive beer menu.

I'll get straight to the point: I've never stayed overnight or eaten there. I accidentally (stupidly!) booked a room for the wrong date. That evening, I received an unexpected call asking where we were staying. The hotel couldn't move the booking to the desired date (they were fully booked), but the next day the money was already back in my account. Plenty of hotels would handle things differently! Hence this review. I hope to actually stay there again soon—if the rest of the service is just as good, it must be a good hotel.

From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed by the friendly staff, who guided us through the evening with genuine attention and expertise. We chose the 5-course surprise menu. The evening began with a delicious amuse-bouche that immediately set the tone: creative and balanced. Each course that followed was a surprise, both in presentation and flavor. Each dish was paired with a glass from a carefully selected selection of fine wines. Bird offers a culinary experience that delicately incorporates Asian influences with a modern twist. Highly recommended.

Welleterras: Beautiful location on the IJssel and a tastefully decorated terrace. The location, the view and the general atmosphere of the Bird IJsselterras are without a doubt excellent. The terrace is beautifully designed and fits in perfectly with the surroundings of Deventer. This is evidence of a clear vision of the owner, who has thought carefully about what this place needs. What unfortunately detracts from the experience is the service staff. The friendliness and customer focus leave a lot to be desired on busy days. A training in hospitality or a sharper selection of temporary summer staff would really complete the picture and make the Bird terrace an absolute must.

We hebben heerlijk gegeten. Het restaurant zit op mooie plek op een gezellig plein. De bediening is erg vriendelijk en gastvrij.

Normaal ga ik nooit een beoordeling schrijven over een restaurant. Maar 2 keer door me zusje mee genomen en weer verrast. Dus bij deze verdienen jullie mijn eerste beoordeling ooit over een restaurant. Dit keer door het dessert amuse. Als jaren ervaren chef ben ik eens verrast door iets wat geniaal bedacht is. Hand gegeven aan de chef en eigenaar en gemeld dat dit er niet af mag. Nieuwe locatie is zeker mooi. Vorige locatie was knus en gezellig maar doet het er niet minder aan om op de nieuwe locatie te eten. Service scherp en ziet wanneer je de aandacht nodig hebt die je verdiend. Dank en tot de volgende keer.

Sfeervolle en rustgevende locatie waar we hebben genoten van een high-end verrassingsdiner. Het verrassingsdiner bevatte, voor ons nog veelal, onbekende Aziatische gerechten, die stuk voor stuk in de smaak vielen en prachtig werden uit geserveerd. Daarnaast was de service ook uitstekend en werd het eten in een prettig tempo uitgeserveerd. Hart en ziel is in Bird is gestoken en dat proef en voel je in de details waar zoveel aandacht in is gestoken. Aanrader!

Fantastic shared dining! I have been there twice now and am always surprised at how nice and delicious it was. It really is a taste sensation. And they provide enough variety in the dishes. I took Menu 4 both times with some bites beforehand. (The pork belly was really mega!) That was fine for us in terms of quantity. The staff is very professional and kind. The chef (or kitchen staff) will also explain the food with full passion. Very nice thing! Will definitely come back.

Overnight stay during the renovation. Simple room without TV fridge (fridge in the central kitchen with coffee/tea option) Loft-like room. Excellent beds and no trouble from the bells of the beautiful church. Location very nice and quiet. Price quality not in balance. (Perhaps due to renovation?) Incl breakfast it would be a bit more in balance. Luggage storage facilities are nice.

NB; they have already moved/are moving. Enjoyed Bird and his team's food several times after the opening, including again last Christmas 2024. The flavors are not basic so you have to like them (if you only eat fries and frikadel, you're in the wrong place). You will be served different dishes. The main courses are served with rice and/or noodles. The service is also of good quality.

Ik ben hier al diverse keren geweest, en ik blijf hier maar terugkomen, en elke keer weer word ik weer enorm verrast door de gastvrijheid, fantastische combinaties en explosies van smaken in al die gerechtjes bij Bird die je, naar mijn ervaring althans, nergens anders gaat tegenkomen. Dit restaurant is toch wel echt een enorme verrijking voor Deventer moet ik zeggen, echt een pareltje die je eerder in een stad als Amsterdam of Den Haag zou verwachten. Bijzonder knap hoe ze keer op keer weer van al die verschillende ingrediënten toch heel bijzondere en ongeëvenaarde smaakvolle gerechten weten te maken. Dit zijn toch echt wel culinaire creaties die het woord 'genieten' een nieuwe lading geven. Zonder twijfel het allerbeste restaurant van Deventer!

Nice location, a nice concept with surprising dishes and very friendly service! We went for the 5-course surprise menu with starters and gyozas and pork belly skewers. Both starters were great. I honestly found the amuses with the 5-course menu too little in taste and actually deserve better. The 5 different dishes are served at the same time. The meat dish and the duck dish really stood out and were very tasty! I found the fish dishes a little less special, and the dessert had a rather pronounced taste and you have to like that. That was neatly mentioned before serving. Conclusion: good food in a casual and cozy atmosphere in Deventer!

Das Essen und der Service waren einfach nur mega gut. Spontan im Bird gewesen und wir haben alles sehr genossen. Den Haus-Aperitif, das 4 Shared Dining (4) bis zur Nachspeise. Besser geht es kaum. Auch preislich alles sehr gut. Da stimmt einfach das Gesamtkonzept. Vielen Dank für diesen wundervollen Abend - es war für uns ein Erlebnis. Klare Empfehlung!!!

The starters were very tasty and the service was great. It is well explained what is served, so you have to try to remember that. I found the main courses disappointing, everything contained sauces, especially a lot of curry flavour. I thought the acoustics were a disaster. It was virtually impossible to have a conversation with my table partner. Furthermore, I found the temperature very warm, but that could definitely have been my fault. I certainly don't like large menus, but I would still like to make my own choice from, for example, 3 choices, with my diabetes a surprise menu remains a bit tricky. The non-alcoholic cocktails are delicious.

Heerlijk eten met fantastische smaken en ook geweldige drankjes zoals chang bier en kombucha sour. Ook de mocktails zijn heel goed.

A delicious 5-course surprise menu. As an appetizer, a Bird GT with pork bacon and crackers. Good advice about the wine, we were even allowed to taste a glass to see if the choice was approved. Staff friendly, helpful and explain everything calmly. Lovely little restaurant, would definitely recommend.

Recommended! Have eaten here several times now. Always a surprise what you get but never disappoints. Good mix of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. In terms of drinks, the Kombucha sour cocktail is highly recommended.

Just 5 stars for everything because everything is just good. On top of the roof terrace you can sit quietly and look out over the IJssel, with a bit of luck a beautiful sunset. This time I ate Catfish for the first time, worth repeating. Good quality food and a pleasant atmosphere without snobbery 😅

Very nice concept where you discover many new and delicious flavor combinations, the dishes vary every period, so definitely a reason to come back more often! The Moo Ping beforehand was also divine, I could actually eat this all evening!

The food was beautifully served and the taste experience was good. However, you only have two choices and everything is on the table at the same time. The fact that you had a vegetarian dish also didn't appeal to me. We sat on the roof terrace with a beautiful view over the IJssel.

A journey of discovery through different dishes where the taste buds are surprised with every dish. And the staff is warm, helpful and very customer-oriented. Summary: highly recommended.

Had a nice meal on the roof terrace of Bird in Deventer. The view over the Ijssel is beautiful, the location absolutely 5 * worthy. The service was professional and friendly. The waiting time until the menu was served was a bit long. The small appetizers and the food were excellent, excellent value for money. A small suggestion: adding a dessert to the surprise menu would complete the culinary experience.

Yesterday we had dinner at Bird in Deventer. There was no more space on the roof, but space was still created, which was great! Staff is friendly and aware of what they serve, which is a plus. The food itself was delicious, tasty, varied and very tasty for someone who cannot tolerate spicy food. the small containers in which it is served are beautiful to look at. On the other hand, the price is on the high side. You know from the website what to expect, but for such high prices I expect more, for example the appetizer and dessert are included in the price. This is because it is not that much that you leave there full. I don't mean full, full, but with a full feeling. Nice restaurant with attentive staff. The concept is that every guest receives a 4 or 5 course surprise menu and a few specials can also be ordered. Ordering specials instead of the surprise menu is not possible. We thought that was a bit of a shame. Food was good although the whitefish and prawns were overcooked and dry. The appetizers could have been more exciting and contrasting in taste, for example an appetizer with 4 different tomato preparations quickly becomes a bite of tomato. And after 4 dishes with 'crisps of...' it starts to feel like a trick.

Had a bite to eat here yesterday and I was very pleasantly surprised. Food was really delicious, service great! Next time I'm in Deventer I will definitely come again!
