We recently discovered this restaurant. We opted for "chef's choice". It was so incredibly delicious. Almost every bite is a surprise and forces you to pause for a moment to consider what you are actually tasting. Fantastic service; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be back.

We had a wonderful meal here! Such delicious sushi and hot dishes. Pure enjoyment. The service was also very friendly. We arrived much too early but were still allowed to come in and be seated at a table, which was very nice. It is quite chic, and the service also appears very well-groomed and very professional. However, that makes it a luxurious evening out for dinner. The price-quality ratio is good; it is not cheap, but it is very tasty! Looking for atmospheric, luxurious, and delicious food in Urk? Surprising restaurant with delicious food, sometimes unusual flavors and combinations. The amuse-bouches, the pre-dessert!

5 people. Ordered a 5-course dinner. The first 3 courses were decent as appetizers of the small, quick-prepared type. Not outstanding. 4th course: Strip of cold red meat. We decided not to have dessert after consultation. A discount on the bill was applied in consultation with the wait staff. A reasonable solution, but of course we came to eat well. No more Chef's Choice menu for us. A pity.

We were on our way home to Groningen from Alphen a/d Rijn and said to each other, let's go eat some fish in Urk. We hadn't been to Urk in years. Good idea! And lo and behold, there was a parking spot at the harbor. We stumbled upon Umai Resto Bar and thought, hey, this is nice. So we did just that. The small menu was on the table and we ordered and ate Spicy tuna roll, chicken gyosa, 2 x tempura North Sea fish, and karaage chicken. Delicious and delectable finger food and sushi. The service was very friendly and attentive. The tempura North Sea fish was absolutely fresh. I couldn't place the fish and asked the lady serving us what kind of fish it was. I thought of Red Snapper because of the angular pieces. No, it was Halibut; she had gone to ask in the kitchen. Okay, Halibut is pure white and you can peel it when it's cooked. This fish had a different texture and was greyer, so 100% not Halibut. And yes, in Urk you don't argue about fish, and they thought, "Oh, those stupid tourists won't get it anyway." We drank Rosé at €8 per 2 sips (glass). It's a shame things are like this, and if I ask for water with my wine, I'd prefer a closed bottle and not chilled tap water for €5. Fortunately, we don't have to watch every euro, and I cooked professionally for 25 years, so I do have an opinion about this. Why tap water? If you do that, I think you should serve it for free with the wine, not for €5 for 750ml. A shame, and that's why 4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We paid €91.

We had a wonderful dinner at Umai. This was our first time dining here since the transition from Blue (where we have been multiple times). The staff is very friendly and attentive, the interior is beautiful, the music isn't too loud, and the atmosphere is top-notch. The only point of criticism is that the wait for the first course was quite long (50 minutes). The food is of a very high standard, better than the last time at Blue and more on par with how Blue originally started. The price level for the dishes is very reasonable, and the flavors are beautifully refined. Shared dining at a high level. Truly Umai: sweet, sour, fresh, and salty. Delicious! The highlights were definitely the Kingfish, the Langoustine, and the Pork Belly. Beautiful flavor combinations that offer something just a little different from the norm, but don't feel alienating. We normally don't eat desserts, but the crème brûlée is simply fantastic. The kitchen has a clear vision, and you can taste it. Worth at least a Michelin Bib Gourmand and a mention in Gault Millau.

At Umai Resto Bar in Urk, it is truly all about the total experience. From the very first moment, we were welcomed with incredible spontaneity, cheerfulness, and hospitality. Both the wait staff and the kitchen team radiated joy and passion, and you can really feel that in everything. We opted for the three-course chef’s menu and were literally occupied with it for the entire evening, including several surprising amuse-bouches in between. Everything was beautifully presented and explained with enthusiasm. For starters, we were served, among other things, a special dish with veal tongue, and for the main course, deliciously tender lamb that was perfectly prepared. The rhubarb dessert was truly a feast on the plate, completely festively decorated because it was someone's birthday 🎉 The amuse-bouches were also surprising and refined. By the way, the delicious oysters are highly recommended for oyster lovers 🦪 In addition, they have a huge selection of mocktails and cocktails with original flavor combinations. You can tell that a lot of attention is paid to this. The interior is also beautifully done. Dark, warm tones, luxurious fabric chairs, plenty of greenery on the walls, and atmospheric lighting create a chic yet cozy ambiance. It is truly the kind of place where you can comfortably sit for hours. The combination of modern, botanical, and a touch of urban makes it very stylish without feeling distant. The view of the harbor in Urk also adds to the atmosphere. What we also liked is that Umai works with surprising global flavors and many fresh ingredients. The menu changes regularly, and the chefs seem to dare to cook with real creativity. Absolutely a restaurant we would love to return to. Highly recommended for an evening of pure enjoyment! ✨

A very hospitable welcome and it only got better…the food was delicious, the appetizers and small dishes a playful way of dining…the shrimp croquettes and the Peking duck pancakes were really top-notch…

It was clear that there was no good communication between the staff, which meant we either had to wait a very long time or were asked the same thing multiple times. Additionally, we were seated too close to other guests for the dinner we paid for. They were practically sitting on their laps. That should be different for a dinner costing nearly €300.

Everything was perfect during our visit. The food was top-notch! The service was excellent, friendly, and attentive. The menu is diverse and playful, with a real bit of everything. From a really good smashburger to delicious oysters. In short, there is something for everyone, from young to old.

At the invitation of friends, we dined here last night. What a fantastic restaurant! The staff is very friendly and creates a lovely atmosphere. We opted for the chef's surprise menu and were truly surprised by the delicious flavors. The care and creativity behind the dishes is remarkable. We will definitely be back to enjoy the atmosphere and the delicious dishes again!

I had booked steak and fries for lunch for 8 people. When the order was taken, this wasn't known. After a long wait, we learned there were only 6 steaks. Luckily, there was beefsteak for the other two. As compensation, you paid for the bread beforehand. That was a nice gesture. The fries came first, and they were delicious. Then we waited a long time again.

We chose the chef's 5-course surprise menu. The plates were beautifully presented and the ingredients were delicious. The food was tasty and good, but it was quite salty and not balanced. The fish ceviche, for example, was too sour. The service was good, and the wines were appropriate but not particularly special. There was a long wait between courses, especially for the main course, which we had to wait 45 minutes for. A comment about this was ignored. When we asked how the food tasted, we also commented that it was very salty, and they responded that it was expected. It's a nice, quiet place with good service and okay food.

Exceeded expectations. The people who work here clearly genuinely want to give you a top-notch experience. They enjoy serving good food and don't mind if you have special dietary requirements. On the contrary, they see it as an opportunity to be creative and a challenge to please you. I didn't mention that I'm vegan because I thought veganism would be a bridge too far for a restaurant in Urk, by the harbor, with a menu made entirely of animal products... but that was a huge mistake. The only point: we don't need the music pounding in our ears while we eat.

On Ascension Day we had a fantastic meal at Umai. We chose the 6-course menu and each course was a party in itself – super tasty, beautifully presented and well-balanced in terms of flavours. A real treat from start to finish! What made it extra special: we were celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary and at dessert we were surprised with fireworks and a beautiful plate with “Congratulations, 10 years of marriage” written in chocolate. Such a sweet gesture, that made the evening truly unforgettable. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service super friendly and everything went smoothly. In short: a great place for a special evening out. We will definitely come back!

A nice mix of Asian and European food. On Ascension Day it is quiet on Urk. Also for lunch there was ample opportunity to sit here with a view of the ships on shore. The starters were nicely seasoned and the sandwich was excellently “dressed”.

Starting with the reception and service. That was great. You feel welcome and that is very important. Then you start to feel like eating. The advice about the menu was excellent and we received a good explanation of what was on the table. The food was very tasty. Very surprising flavor combinations. Really enjoyed it.

Welcoming, high-quality restaurant. Draft beer is very expensive compared to a bottle of wine. No free tap water with the wine. It was said that it was my birthday, but nothing else was done about it, nothing on the house. Will come again with the 2 of us without children for sushi. Hopefully I can give 5*.
