Beautifully situated on the edge of the Utrecht Landscape Vliegpark Soesterberg nature reserve. The atmosphere is pleasant; frequented by parents with children and touring cyclists who take a break here. Parking is free, and it's also an easy walk to the NMM or the starting point for a lovely walk or bike ride. The food is excellent, and the service is friendly and professional.

A fantastic location with a beautiful view. The service is friendly and helpful. Delicious cakes, excellent food, and a wide selection on the menu. Especially nice is that there's plenty of space for the kids to play (outside). We rented the upstairs space, which was fantastic! Access is only via stairs. The space is filled with plants, a few benches, tables, chairs, standing tables, and a small kitchenette. You could also sit outside thanks to the covered terrace.

Despite the crowds, it was a pleasant experience. They have an extensive lunch menu. Because the weather was nice outside, the waiters focused on that area as well. At times, we felt forgotten because we were inside.

Messy, many mistakes, no cutlery, but food was mediocre, no salt and pepper, wrong payment was not the only one.

Situated in the beautiful surroundings of Soesterberg... a nice place to settle down for lunch or drinks.

Mwha... everything's sticky and the toilets are filthy. Lots of wasps! Children wash their hands under the pitcher where you can get some fresh water. The coffee was delicious and nice and hot!

Nice place, but the service could use some improvement. Today, a group of 10 had lunch on the terrace. Ordering took quite a while, and they forgot to serve our drinks three times. An 8-year-old ordered pasta with tomato sauce and was served penne with vodka, while I opted for vegetable croquettes on bread and got beef croquettes... a bit sloppy. We also suddenly received peanut butter sandwiches that we hadn't ordered. The food was okay; the beef croquettes tasted good (even though I hadn't ordered them), and the pasta with vodka was a bit bland. The pancakes, on the other hand, were very popular with the other children.

A wonderful place to bring kids - a beautiful playground with plenty of space to explore and go on adventures, from little ones (around 2 years old) to older kids (around 10 years old). It's the nicest place I've ever been. The food is excellent, but the service isn't super attentive, but it is very friendly and helpful. Don't come if you're in a hurry or want to sit completely quietly, but do come if you want a nice coffee or a bite to eat in a place where children are welcome and have plenty of space.

Definitely not something we would repeat. The play area is absolutely great, the kids had a great time. The view of the airbase is also fun and entertaining. But the food was downright bad. The kids' toasted sandwich, the cheese was not melted at all and the toasted sandwich was cold. My husband's food only arrived fifteen minutes after the rest had finished eating. After we had already indicated several times that he had not had anything yet. Paid over 60 euros for a substandard lunch, half of which was cold and we could not even eat it at the same time. Response at the cash register; then you must not have ordered at the same time... 😒 Well I think we come for lunch as a family and we really did order everything at the same time.

Onze kinderen wilden niet meer naar huis! Terwijl zij klommen en renden in de speeltuin genoten wij van een ontspannen lunch op het terras. Beautiful restaurant in a phenomenal location. Nice playground for the children. We came for lunch while mountain biking and we were certainly not the only cyclists. We had to wait quite a long time for the food, but the quality and freshness were above average so it was worth it.

Great place for a cup of coffee but lunch was very disappointing. Ordered a sandwich with hummus and grilled vegetables. I had to look for the grilled vegetables, there was so little on them. Hummus spread very thinly. After a comment about this, I was told that the grilled vegetables appeared to have run out when I made them and that I should have said earlier that I was not satisfied. Seems like an upside down world to me. Next time I'll stick to coffee alone.

Prime location. Outside terrace and large play area for the children. Cross the runway in front of the Military Museum. Parking in front of the door. Nice starting/ending point for cycling tours.

What a GREAT place! I celebrated my 30th birthday in the upstairs room with about 50/55 guests and it was a very successful day. All praise for Café Restaurant Soesterdal and all the great staff!

When we come to make a reservation for a group, we are curtly told that we can only do this by e-mail. Subsequently, our email was not responded to. They probably have enough customers.

A beautiful, bright restaurant with a spacious outdoor terrace, part of which is covered. The area is perfect for families, with a large playground full of fun play equipment such as a climbing tree, swings, a slide, a cable car, a climbing course, climbing frames and a large sandbox. There is also a water play area and a tunnel to explore. While the children have fun, parents can enjoy the view of Soesterberg Airport, where gliders pass by. A great place for a relaxing getaway with the whole family!

Nice place to have something to eat and friendly staff and good service

The food in Restaurant Café Soesterdal is excellent. The menu is somewhat limited and there is a lot of emphasis on healthy, alternative snacks. The service generally appears somewhat disinterested, but not unfriendly. The main reason to have breakfast or lunch here is the view at the rear over Soesterberg Air Base. Beautiful!

Quality of food is fine. Lots of staff, friendly and attentive. Apparently Friday afternoon is the time to go here with young children: noise everywhere, funny 😀

The location is beautiful and also a very nice and large playground! Point of criticism: the service is really substandard. We were together, it was not busy and we had to ask ourselves if we could get coffee. After the coffee had been noted, she rushed away and I asked 'do you have anything tasty with it?'. A second round of coffee was not possible, they tried to make eye contact but they had no regard for their guests at all. A huge shame, because that's how you miss out on turnover. Hopefully you can do something with this feedback, because your business is wonderful.

Was on a beautiful Sunday. Very bad service. Don't have things in order. Waited 1.5 hours before we had a drink. We sat outside so the kids played nicely. Otherwise we would of course have left much earlier.

Mooie locatie, vreselijk personeel. Na 1,5 uur wachten en meerdere keren de bediening aan te spreken nog steeds geen drankje gehad. Bediening oogt chaotisch, loopt kris kras door het terras. Ober brengt naar een tafel heet (lees lauw) water naar een tafel na ons en vergeet de thee koffer. Die komt zo laat dat de thee ondertussen echt koud is. Ver van weg blijven als je dorst of honger hebt.

Great place to chill with your kids and friends on a sunny day

I've been coming here for a few years now. The location is very beautiful. The menu is fine, but a bit more expensive. However, what is very annoying is the service. This has been a problem for years. There is no system in it. The students serving look away and only respond when spoken to. It always looks stressful. I've been waiting for 45 minutes now. I asked if I could order upstairs, but that was not possible. Had to go outside with colleagues. Which colleagues?? Also addressed outside. She would be here soon. Unfortunately not. From now on we will no longer come to have lunch with the children. Bring bread again from now on, which I would recommend to everyone as plan b

A very nice experience with very friendly staff who apparently are looking forward to it. Delicious food with honest home-made flavors. Sour meat with lots of meat and 3 types of fries such as parsnip fries. And very affordable. The location is ideally situated on the Soesterberg runway. Beautiful to walk on. Nice playground where the children had a great time.

Very nice place to start your walk and then enjoy coffee and apple pie with whipped cream. Beautiful walking routes around the old airport. Beautiful nature reserve. Service is friendly and helpful. The fireplace provides wonderful warmth. Enjoyed it very much, we will come back here more often.

Cozy lunch café with large playground just next to the Soest runway! The staff is friendly but sometimes they walk past each other because there are so many of them. Drinks were served quickly and after briefly asking, the table was also cleaned. The flamkuchen was tasty but less filling than the other sandwiches!

Als je zin hebt in een uitgebreid avontuur in geduld en teleurstelling, dan moet je hier zeker gaan lunchen. Het begint allemaal met de spanning van het bestellen. Na lang wachten (en ik bedoel écht lang wachten, alsof de kok het rund nog even zelf moet gaan vangen), komt eindelijk het eten aan. Of ja, iets wat op jouw bestelling lijkt. De biefstuk die ik had besteld? Oh nee, dat was blijkbaar toch een tosti. Mijn fout, natuurlijk. Als je hoop had dat het eten je geduld zou belonen, moet ik je teleurstellen. Het eten is lauwer dan een kop thee die je vergeten bent op te drinken. Een beetje zoals je enthousiasme, dat langzaam wegebt terwijl je naar de koude frietjes staart. Ondertussen groeien de afwasbergen om je heen. Tafels worden namelijk niet afgeruimd – dit is een doe-het-zelf restaurant, kennelijk. Je kunt jezelf dus uitstekend vermaken door te raden welk half opgegeten gerecht jouw voorganger had. En als toetje krijg je een bon die net zoveel klopt als de rest van de ervaring: niet. En dan is er het personeel. Ach, het personeel. Ze zijn vriendelijk hoor, dat wel. Maar ervaring? Laten we zeggen dat het er eerder op lijkt dat ze hun eerste werkdag beleven. Én hun eerste lunch ooit. Ik overweeg nog steeds om ze op cursus te sturen voor "Hoe serveer ik niet lauw eten?". Maar eerlijk is eerlijk: het uitzicht is fantastisch. De natuur, de rust... Je kunt urenlang genieten van het prachtige landschap. Letterlijk, want je moet toch wachten op je eten. De speeltuin is ook prachtig, dus als je kinderen hebt, kunnen ze zich gelukkig wel vermaken terwijl jij wacht tot je maag een keer gevuld wordt. Kortom: een geweldige locatie, maar de horeca? Nou ja, laten we zeggen dat de speeltuin het beste van hier is.

I read the description of the establishment and decided to take a look at the runways from the other side.. Not knowing that I would end up in a glorified children's playground. Large, spacious terrace but overcrowded with (small, busy) children who are disruptive and distracting everywhere and nowhere. Not really a suitable place to RELAX and enjoy the sun. I have nothing against children, but sometimes it doesn't work out... As soon as a catering establishment starts to resemble the Ikea ball pit, then I think that "the concept" is not clearly defined. Within fifteen minutes we had seen it and we had a RELAXING meal somewhere further away in the sun. Nice for a children's birthday apparently. The stars given are based on the fact that it is actually unknown. After ordering something to drink and waiting about fifteen minutes for it (not such a problem, but long enough to feel that you are not comfortable there), it turned out that we did not feel in line with the vast majority of the visitors (families with children) and we dropped off after having something to drink. And that was MY experience there. It's a shame because Soesterberg could use a good stopping place and the location is not bad. In short: good idea, less nice execution unfortunately..

This restaurant is lucky to have such a prime location. The service is very inexperienced and bad, they have no idea what they serve. The food and drinks are mediocre, but very expensive (coke without a shot, small can of limo almost 6 euros, very mediocre drinks for 17 euros). Anyway, the terrace is always full, because the location with playground on the edge of the air base is great. Then there is little need to improve anything.....

Large cafe beside a cycle track and an airfield with the National Military Museum. The cafe is a striking glass building with great outdoor space and a playground. There is usually something happening on the airfield, such as gliders landing or taking off, or cycle races.

Excellent restaurant cozy and good food

Very beautiful location for all types of catering. We were there by invitation for a reception and were pleasantly surprised by the location and friendliness of the staff. In the meantime, take a look at the map. That also made us happy. Wide range for very reasonable prices. We will definitely come back here again on occasion to explore this establishment further.
