The steak tips were a bit tough after all... Otherwise, because the reserved table for 6 people was in the sun and we asked for a different table, that wasn't a problem after moving some tables around. Thoughtful!

We had high tea with 4 people. We weren't very impressed with the service. The welcome was strange. The girls aren't unfriendly otherwise, but everything was very laborious. We also waited about 40 minutes before any food was placed on the table. First all the sweet items, and only later the savory ones. It's a shame that you only get a few savory items and so much sweet food. However, all the food was incredibly delicious and they really do serve a lot. We didn't come close to finishing everything.

Had a nice lunch with 8 people on the terrace. The food was good and the atmosphere was too. A minor downside is that the bins for clearing used plates etc. were standing behind us; this was a bit unappealing, perhaps placing a small screen or something similar would be a good idea. Unfortunately, all the cushions turned out to be soaked, so we ended up with wet trousers after our delicious lunch.

Lovely place; I only know De Beren from back in the day in the Randstad, and back then I always got a "foodie vibe," but this place is really sleek and super beautiful! The greenery in the interior is amazing! The staff is friendly, and the owner is genuinely interested in his customers. The menu is neat, not too much choice, which I always really appreciate. And there are options for a three-course menu or a four-course sharing menu (from 2 people), and we took that too, and it was a very good choice! You can see course 2 in the photo. We had a delicious meal; not too much, but certainly not too little either! We will definitely go here more often when we are in the area!

What a lovely evening we had! The hostess was a real star in her field. You could tell in everything that she understood how her job should be done, and she radiated enjoyment. A successful dinner, and that with two young kids! They looked after the children, and the toddler received a menu with a coloring page. The children's menu was a suitable, good portion, and everyone enjoyed it. The baby got a sandwich from the kitchen; very thoughtful! Mom and Dad ate tasty chicken satay. Quite simple, but just delicious and not too heavy. Friendly service and the food on the table quickly.

We had a delicious hamburger. The other dishes my party ordered were also excellent. We had asked for a bit of speed due to a visit to the Lawei. This was handled excellently by the waitress. There was even time for dessert.

The food at De Beren is always good, with a great atmosphere and good service. On this visit, one star less due to the errors on the special King's Day menu and unclear surcharges for some dishes.

At De Beren in Drachten, I found an ant in my meat. That is not a minor mistake, but a clear hygiene problem. When I reported this, my complaint was simply dismissed with the remark that this “cannot happen due to inspections.” The fact is that it *did* happen. And it is unprofessional not to take a customer seriously in such a situation. Instead of taking responsibility, the problem was denied. This does not belong in a restaurant that takes itself seriously. I expect De Beren to address this internally, because this was far below par.

Delicious food, great service, nice staff and a beautiful interior

It was quite quiet for a Monday afternoon, but we had to wait 10 minutes for our drinks. We were there for a quick lunch but ended up sitting there for 1.5 hours because it took so long. We had a carpaccio and a fried egg with ham and cheese. The person who served us had run out of orders, so we got the carpaccio first and the fried egg at least fifteen minutes later, and the ham and cheese was missing. It happens. It hadn't occurred to me at the time that the egg was too raw for a fried egg (I'm a chef myself). We mentioned the ham and cheese and got it back as if it had just been thrown on. I started eating my food, which was cold by then, and the egg white just ran off the fried egg. That's not how it's supposed to be, so I mentioned it. The fried egg was taken off the bill, but we didn't get anything else in return, so we left hungry anyway. The service was also brand new, so she knew very little. They need to explain things better to their staff, because that way you can prevent mistakes and lose fewer customers. There were people sitting next to us too, but they waited at least 30 minutes before someone came. This was definitely a one-time thing and never again.

A really lovely place! We have been there several times now, and whether you come for coffee or dinner, they are always just as friendly. Recently, I ordered steak tips that were too spicy for my taste, and within no time I had a new dish.

As always, the food was good today. At Restaurant de Beren, you can eat well for a reasonable price. That's hard to come by these days.

We had a very disappointing experience yesterday. My girlfriend absolutely cannot eat gluten (she has celiac disease), and we were repeatedly told there were plenty of gluten-free options. This, however, turned out not to be the case, leaving us hopeful and disappointed. When we politely brought this up to the manager, we were completely ignored and talked over. This shocked us immensely and made us feel uncomfortable the entire evening; the food didn't taste good either. Unfortunately, an apology wasn't even offered. When we explicitly asked for compensation, the manager argued with us, even though we had already expressed how unpleasant the situation was before we ate. It's not about the money or compensation, but about the principle: the communication was unacceptable. We hope that in the future, there will be more attention to allergen policy and hospitality, so that others can enjoy a safe and pleasant meal.

Worst De Beren branch ever! The staff isn't properly trained to provide proper service. The chefs are also at fault. I ordered an expensive steak from the menu, and after it arrived too raw (I ordered medium, but the meat barely touched the plate), I checked for doneness (so I cut it in two places) and the same piece was re-cooked, which... you guessed it, made the meat incredibly tough. Two other people at our table had unlimited spare ribs, a great deal, but they didn't get their ribs until our main course arrived, as we had ordered a three-course meal. Not to mention how long it took to even get our food or drinks. This was the fourth and last time I've been to De Beren in Drachten. The previous three times were also bad, but this was the icing on the cake! Really high quality, extremely disappointing!

I started the evening with an excellent pork belly, then continued with a delicious sea bass as a main course and finished it off with a particularly tasty dessert, the Tosti Suikerbrood. A truly wonderful evening of pleasant dining out 😍

The starters were delicious. The service was also quick and very friendly. Unfortunately, our main course (schnitzel) wasn't tasty, and the fries were also very greasy. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish the schnitzel and fries because they made us both nauseous. When we mentioned this, they offered to bring fresh fries, but we didn't take advantage of this. We're disappointed with the main course, but we can say that the starter and the service were excellent.

The reviews were so swayed that I decided to eat elsewhere. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. Anyone who reads my reviews every now and then knows that I'm not just a foodie; my background (hotel school) and passionate amateur chef allow me to have a perspective beyond simply consuming a product. The service was smooth and attentive, there was no wait, and the time between courses was exactly what you'd expect. I enjoyed my meal and drinks. Even the (special) beer glasses were grease-free, which unfortunately isn't always the case. In short: our group of eight was fully satisfied and went home feeling very happy. Quality and price are in good proportion

First, the staff: super friendly, not overly so, just perfect. The salmon dish was more than excellent. The crispy chicken isn't 5 stars like the salmon, but 4 stars. It just wasn't crispy, but the flavor was good. We thought the dessert was just fine; we can definitely recommend this location.

Super cozy, delicious food and drinks. The coffee is a bit small, hence the 4/5. Otherwise, it's really nice to sit with someone. Reservations aren't necessary as far as I know; every time I've been there, I've been able to sit right away.

I really enjoyed my evening out at the restaurant De Beren. I thought the food was tasty and I thought the speed of the food preparation was real restaurant quality and I thought the service was hospitable, so I give it 5 stars because I really enjoyed it.

A nice, cozy place to sit, but I was a bit disappointed with the food. We had a three-course meal. I had the gyozas as a starter. They were okay, but it was a shame they were fried instead of steamed. The gyozas themselves were flavorless, and the sauce was supposed to make the dish. Then we got the main course; I ordered crispy chicken. It was tasty, but didn't live up to its name. It wasn't crispy and, again, drowned in sauce, which gave the feeling that it had been made earlier and reheated. The vegetables underneath were the same story; I would stir-fry them a bit shorter to keep them nice and crispy, but I wouldn't pour any sauce over them, as both the vegetables and the chicken were drowned in sauce. Otherwise, the dessert was delicious, and the service was pleasant.

Lunch. The tea was wrong; we ordered a different flavor. Cold soup; even after reporting it, we were simply given cold soup the second time. Omelet with carpaccio. The carpaccio was tasteless, I think it was frozen. The omelet was still mushy and not cooked through. I reported it to the staff. They gave me compensation. Too bad, I didn't eat my lunch, and when I got home, everything came out again. I think there are inexperienced people in the kitchen, probably not quite mature yet because that's cheap. Invest in good staff to keep your place running. This is truly worthless.

It was very cold inside. We had a two-course lunch. The tomato soup was lukewarm. It also took a very long time for our food to be served. The egg still had a shell on it. We won't be back.

Today I waited 20 minutes for service. Dirty glasses, etc., on the table weren't cleared. When I confronted the staff, they simply passed it on to a colleague who, despite waving 10 times, didn't come back, but was "busy" asking other tables if they needed anything. We left, and two minutes later other people sat down and were helped a minute later. I find this outrageous! I've always enjoyed going there, but I find the way the staff acted insulting.

Upon entering, we waited for minutes before anyone came, even though the restaurant was practically empty. We were greeted with a simple question about whether we wanted to pay. It was freezing cold, which also felt unwelcoming. It took ages to get our side dishes after they brought our meat. It was as if they'd forgotten. Both main courses came with fries, but the container we received was a meager single-serving portion. My spare ribs smelled slightly spoiled. It was also the smallest portion I've ever received anywhere, 7 ribs in total. The service seems to want to minimize contact with the guests. For example, no one came to ask if everything was to their liking. Even at this restaurant—and unfortunately, they're no exception—they've made a killing with warm vegetables. And the garnish on the plate was minimal. The dessert, warm apple crumble, was fine. But it's not a restaurant I'd return to.

We had a reservation for two people, and my gastric bypass surgery was taken into account, and the food was delicious. The service was also very polite and attentive.
