The reviews were so swayed that I decided to eat elsewhere. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall experience. Anyone who reads my reviews every now and then knows that I'm not just a foodie; my background (hotel school) and passionate amateur chef allow me to have a perspective beyond simply consuming a product. The service was smooth and attentive, there was no wait, and the time between courses was exactly what you'd expect. I enjoyed my meal and drinks. Even the (special) beer glasses were grease-free, which unfortunately isn't always the case. In short: our group of eight was fully satisfied and went home feeling very happy. A huge compliment and a sincere thank you to all the staff 👌

Friendly staff. The food is simply good. They also helped with code issues during Kruidvat's promotions and handled them very well. All in all, just good.

Quality and price are in good proportion

First, the staff: super friendly, not overly so, just perfect. The salmon dish was more than excellent. The crispy chicken isn't 5 stars like the salmon, but 4 stars. It just wasn't crispy, but the flavor was good. We thought the dessert was just fine; we can definitely recommend this location.

Super cozy, delicious food and drinks. The coffee is a bit small, hence the 4/5. Otherwise, it's really nice to sit with someone. Reservations aren't necessary as far as I know; every time I've been there, I've been able to sit right away.

I really enjoyed my evening out at the restaurant De Beren. I thought the food was tasty and I thought the speed of the food preparation was real restaurant quality and I thought the service was hospitable, so I give it 5 stars because I really enjoyed it.

A nice, cozy place to sit, but I was a bit disappointed with the food. We had a three-course meal. I had the gyozas as a starter. They were okay, but it was a shame they were fried instead of steamed. The gyozas themselves were flavorless, and the sauce was supposed to make the dish. Then we got the main course; I ordered crispy chicken. It was tasty, but didn't live up to its name. It wasn't crispy and, again, drowned in sauce, which gave the feeling that it had been made earlier and reheated. The vegetables underneath were the same story; I would stir-fry them a bit shorter to keep them nice and crispy, but I wouldn't pour any sauce over them, as both the vegetables and the chicken were drowned in sauce. Otherwise, the dessert was delicious, and the service was pleasant.

Good food for a reasonable price.

Lunch. The tea was wrong; we ordered a different flavor. Cold soup; even after reporting it, we were simply given cold soup the second time. Omelet with carpaccio. The carpaccio was tasteless, I think it was frozen. The omelet was still mushy and not cooked through. I reported it to the staff. They gave me compensation. Too bad, I didn't eat my lunch, and when I got home, everything came out again. I think there are inexperienced people in the kitchen, probably not quite mature yet because that's cheap. Invest in good staff to keep your place running. This is truly worthless.

It was very cold inside. We had a two-course lunch. The tomato soup was lukewarm. It also took a very long time for our food to be served. The egg still had a shell on it. We won't be back.

Today I waited 20 minutes for service. Dirty glasses, etc., on the table weren't cleared. When I confronted the staff, they simply passed it on to a colleague who, despite waving 10 times, didn't come back, but was "busy" asking other tables if they needed anything. We left, and two minutes later other people sat down and were helped a minute later. I find this outrageous! I've always enjoyed going there, but I find the way the staff acted insulting.

Upon entering, we waited for minutes before anyone came, even though the restaurant was practically empty. We were greeted with a simple question about whether we wanted to pay. It was freezing cold, which also felt unwelcoming. It took ages to get our side dishes after they brought our meat. It was as if they'd forgotten. Both main courses came with fries, but the container we received was a meager single-serving portion. My spare ribs smelled slightly spoiled. It was also the smallest portion I've ever received anywhere, 7 ribs in total. The service seems to want to minimize contact with the guests. For example, no one came to ask if everything was to their liking. Even at this restaurant—and unfortunately, they're no exception—they've made a killing with warm vegetables. And the garnish on the plate was minimal. The dessert, warm apple crumble, was fine. But it's not a restaurant I'd return to.

We had a reservation for two people, and my gastric bypass surgery was taken into account, and the food was delicious. The service was also very polite and attentive.

Restaurant De Beren is in the center of Drachten. There was a fair at the Lawei theater, where we saw a performance in the evening. Parking there costs €2.10 per hour, which isn't a visitor-friendly price for five hours. We parked a bit further away at the sports fields, but you need to be able to walk.

We always enjoyed coming to the Drachten branch. Emphasis on "came." Service had been mediocre lately, but our last visit was extremely poor. The food quality was also subpar. The pork tenderloin was very tough. We weren't helped by the staff, but the tables around us were. Dirty plates sat on the table for over an hour and a half, and we only received a drink upon arrival. The staff spent more time chatting than working. We opted for a three-course menu, but after spending two and a half hours on the appetizer and main course, we left. Upon leaving, the staff shouted that they were busy, but there was still time to chat. We paid without even an apology. Next time, we'll go to a restaurant that emphasizes service.

I actually think it's scandalous that you have a salad for lunch, without tomatoes and without bread, and that you have to pay 20 euros for it.

Unfortunately, the service was appalling. We were assigned a table upon arrival, after which the three staff members busied themselves polishing the cutlery. Only four customers in the restaurant, but no service. A real missed opportunity.

Disappointing experience despite friendly service and a charming restaurant. Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised by the warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. The staff was also friendly and welcoming, which gave a good first impression. We arrived with a Social Deal offer, and unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. The starter was lukewarm, and the main course seemed reheated rather than freshly prepared. The outside had a hard crust, the texture was unpleasant, and the flavor was almost nonexistent. This was a major disappointment. When we expressed our disappointment to the staff, we received an apology, but no solution or alternative was offered. We felt this was a shame; a little extra effort at such a time can partially make up for a bad experience. All in all, we were very disappointed. Despite the pleasant atmosphere and friendly service, we unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant if you dine with a Social Deal. We don't think it's worth repeating.

It takes way too long for someone to come or for your food to arrive. 2 hours and one bowl of soup later.

The atmosphere was great, and the staff were attentive. Unfortunately, even after asking if the vegetables were cooked properly, several people at the table received vegetables that weren't even al dente. So all the vegetables remained on their plates. One guest's pork tenderloin was medium, while another guest at the same table's was black at the end and downright dry. They were also very different in size. (They didn't even ask if they wanted the tenderloin medium-rare.) The mushroom sauce tasted very artificial, unfortunately. They were asked if the food was good, but when someone else is treating you, you don't complain; that's rude. Asking shouldn't be necessary; the quality should be consistently good for everyone.

The atmosphere is warm and cozy, and the team and enterprising couple are super friendly and attentive. We felt truly welcome from the moment we walked in. The food is delicious – from the succulent spareribs to the refreshing dessert, everything is prepared with care.

I was there with my husband; he had spareribs and I had schnitzel. The schnitzel wasn't seasoned, wasn't fried, but deep-fried. After a few bites, I told my husband, "It's on the edge of its shelf life, or beyond." A few minutes later, I had to rush to the bathroom and spit it out. My husband can't smell, but he ate the schnitzel and indeed tasted that it wasn't seasoned, but due to his poor sense of smell, he didn't detect that it was spoiled. Less than 15 minutes later, he started sweating profusely, and half an hour to 45 minutes later, he had intestinal problems, which made him feel quite ill for the rest of the evening and night. The spareribs didn't have much flavor either, but were otherwise well-prepared. The fries were cold when served, and the second portion was also cold and even a bit tough, as if they had been microwaved. We won't be returning to De Beren in Drachten. A nice shop and friendly and reasonably quick service.

After a 2.5-hour wait, we finally got our main course. The food was fine, but the service was terrible. We skipped dessert and got it from McDonald's. Will we be back? It's unlikely. Too bad.

The food was not of high quality. In my opinion, the pork tenderloin from the grill came from the cooking pot, anything but from the grill The schnitzel came from the fryer... and the vegetables were probably too expensive to serve. Poorly presented plates, unappetizing piece of meat (not seasoned) and too cooked for medium. It wasn't even cooked, the meat was so pale! A small bowl of fries for three people. Fortunately, you could get more if you just asked. No, even such a simple dish can be messed up. Not recommended to order a pork tenderloin or schnitzel as a main course here. My advice is to try to order something else...

Inexperienced staff and understaffed. Beren Drachten is much bigger than what they can handle. Takes a long time for staff to come to you. I saw others wait fifteen minutes before they were greeted. The chicken club sandwich was the biggest blunder. If you think as a chef: I'm going to give this to the customer, then you have to go back to school. See photo. Prefab chicken pieces thrown on top. We had to ask for the top of the sandwich. Very meager toppings. And why do you add so many nachos? €15 is too much for this dish. Oh, and give your plants some water. Everything is almost dead in those containers outside.

Dear Sir/Madam, I would like to express my disappointment about the way I was recently treated in your establishment. When I first ordered a cocktail (with a request for slightly less ice), it was served very neatly and the glass was about three quarters full. However, when I ordered the same cocktail again later, I received a significantly smaller amount — the glass was only a quarter to half full. This difference was clearly noticeable. When I kindly pointed this out to the staff, unfortunately this was not taken seriously. Instead of serving the same cocktail, it was dismissed with a cola, which I found very unsatisfactory. I would have expected at least that the difference would be acknowledged and that an appropriate solution would be found. I hope you take this feedback to heart, so that future guests can experience consistent and customer-friendly service.

After the meal we sat and talked for a while. Unfortunately, there was no longer any service to come by to order drinks.
