The BEST Italian restaurant in the neighbourhood, zero doubts!!! Have been here multiple times and also done takeaway a few times.

We had a fantastic evening on August 22nd. I enjoyed the delicious food with my three nieces. A big compliment to the lovely waitress. Everything was perfect: the food, service, and atmosphere. In short, a solid 10!

I do not give 5 stars quickly but this certainly applies here, smooth service with expertise, top dishes such as the steak Tartar, the Pasta Vongole and the Tournedos, everything was great. Well rounded off with Tiramisu and an Italian course :)

We had a fantastic evening in a wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. The staff were very friendly and spoke Italian, making you feel like you're in beautiful Italy. The food was delicious, more than enough, and the chat was just as it should be. The carpaccio was excellent with fresh truffle, and I had the calzone pizza, which was long but very flavorful. The tiramisu dessert was also very good, big enough for two people. To finish, we had a limoncello on the house, which we also enjoyed! We will definitely be back!

Oh my.... Lovely staff, and the menu screams Sicilian to me. We went full force on the menu, just ordering what we wanted. We shared one dish (I'm not a big eater) and they brought extra cutlery, which is a nice gesture. Very VERY authentic (Sicilian) food. I can recommend the meat wrapped in parma jamon, and the ravioli. The cannoli is how it should be; rich and creamy. And our red wine is definitely from Sicily. :) (Can't find it here.) We were here on a mid-day on a tuesday, it was packed. So reserve a spot!!

If you read all the reviews, I don't need to add anything: excellent food, exceptional service, often in Italian, and a wonderful atmosphere both inside and out. A top-notch restaurant!

We made a reservation for Sunday afternoon. Unbeknownst to us, it turned out to be Druten Day (annual fair). A table was reserved for us on the terrace. A delicious three-course surprise menu with wonderful wines and very friendly staff. A top spot.

The food was very greasy, so you really have to wash your hands thoroughly afterward. Otherwise, the people were very friendly, and the location is nice for an Italian place like this.

Update 2025: I've been here several times now, and it remains an excellent Italian restaurant! With excellent food, wines, and service. Not surprising, considering the owner and a large part of the staff are Italian. A winner! 2024: Our first visit to this restaurant was on a beautiful evening, so we could still sit outside. The service was very pleasant and efficient. The menu offers beautiful dishes. I chose the saltimbocca, and it was excellent. My dinner companion's fish dish was also very good. The Primitivo wine I had was excellent. All in all, this is a very good and pleasant restaurant that we will definitely return to.

We had a wonderful meal for two. We received a dinner gift certificate, and unfortunately, few good restaurants accept it, but this one did. The welcome was friendly; we immediately felt at home. We sat outside on a terrace. They were quite full for a Tuesday evening, perhaps due to the holiday. The menu looked excellent. We opted for the 4-course surprise menu. Delicious dishes, every single one (see photos). The pizzas on the menu also looked very good. At the end, we received a limoncello on the house, which was very thoughtful. The staff was friendly, and the dishes arrived on time, not too long or too short. In short, I highly recommend dining here. It's no surprise that they were nominated by Italië Magazine for Restaurant of the Year (2025). If we're ever in the area again, this will be our restaurant of choice.

We had a wonderful meal with four colleagues. We sat outside opposite the church, having parked in the market square. The service is authentic Italian. The antipasto platter can be expanded to suit the number of people. The pizzas were delicious and generous. The cod is highly recommended. The matching wines completed the meal perfectly. Reservations are recommended. The quality and atmosphere are well-known. It was packed.

The traditional Italian cuisine is always delicious! Delicious dishes on the menu, including excellent fish and meat. Rita charmingly and attentively helped us. Highly recommended. They've got my vote for Italian restaurant of the year 2025: check out their website and vote for them!

The price/quality ratio could be much better. The carpaccio was average, nothing special. A lot of sauce on the pasta, the pizza was fine, but no salad was available. A mini bottle of Radler beer was a whopping price! Not exceptional, but just an average restaurant, nothing more, nothing less.

Delicious food, nice atmosphere and hospitable service

After 10 years in Holland, without a doubt one of the best Italian restaurants in this country.

Als starter kregen we een tapenade van aubergine en zongedroogde tomaatjes. Eén geweldige combi onder begeleiding van heerlijk brood! De eerste gang was een verrassende steak tartaar met een crème van burrata en zwarte truffel. Overheerlijk! De tweede gang was een pasta, Paccheri met speck uit Zuid-Tirol in een pikante saus van Nduja en Gorgonzola. Erg lekker! Het hoofdgerecht was een dungesneden maar uiterst goed gebakken (medium rare) ribeye! Gereserveerd met gebakken aardappeltjes en een heerlijke pepersaus. Als toetje, een pannacotta van limoncello met aarbeien en aardbeiensaus. We hebben genoten van heerlijke gerechten en heel vrolijk en vriendelijk personeel! Retrogusto, ga zo door! Chapeau! Dankjewel!

Delicious pizza eaten and served by extremely friendly staff. We sat on the terrace and it was perfectly organized only the disadvantage is that you are close to a main street in the village center with quite a bit of traffic. But that should not stop you from eating here!

We were dropped off with our private driver from Breng. In front of the door of Retro Gusto We stood in front of this restaurant here we were received by "according to our girlfriends" an ex on the beach worthy hunk. When he laughed we had to put on our sunglasses. His teeth shone even brighter than the toppers. Inside we were received by a beautiful Italian lady. "according to the boys" we had chosen the 4 course surprise menu. We were the first to be surprised. By a starter of Parma ham with fennel and pomegranate seeds. How delicious this was. (and the food too) the 2nd course was a true sensation for the taste buds a delicious pasta with a spicy sauce from the chef. The 3rd course was exactly what you hoped for a delicious piece of rib eye with a zucchini tart. Now I'm not much of a zucchini eater but this tart was the tastiest of all the tarts. Now the surprise dessert. Panna cotta with a strawberry jelly. This also exceeded all our expectations. With all these dishes we were also surprised with a matching delicious wine. Selected by the great crew of retro gusto. As you can see from this review. The wines were also very much appreciated. All in all we recommend this authentic Italian restaurant.

Angelo, Sven, Maria en het hele team van Retro Gusto zijn stuk voor stuk ontzettend lief en gastvrij. Het eten is echt fantastisch: vol smaak, met liefde en aandacht bereid, en je proeft gewoon de passie in elk gerecht. Of je nou komt voor een pasta, pizza of een uitgebreid diner het is iedere keer een feestje en je waant je echt even in Italië.

A REAL Italian. May I take you along in my experience at Retro Gusto in Druten? I have ordered a pizza with spicy salami all over the world, probably 1000 times. Sometimes super tasty, sometimes a little less, but… What they make at Retro Gusto is on a whole other level. The pizza is simply more than PERFECT! The very best in my entire life. So, and now I'm going to enjoy my Limoncello and the perfect Espresso.

Had a fantastic meal at Retro Gusto in Druten. Delicious dishes, prepared with care and love. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the owners radiate a heart for their business and their visitors. Highly recommended!

What a fantastic traditional Italian restaurant! You enter the atmospheric, cozy and warm restaurant via a beautiful, sunny and modern terrace. You immediately see the elongated open kitchen where the professionals show their skills. We choose a place at the back of the restaurant. Via the stairs to the top in another nice and atmospherically decorated space with 16 covers. Very friendly and knowledgeable service with the right advice. Choose the Pinsa Salmone, crispy Roman bread with mozzarella, smoked salmon, pistachio and green pesto. Top choice and enjoyed it immensely. Absolute 5-star recommendation and will definitely visit this restaurant more often.

Eating at Retrogusto is a party. The owner and staff make you feel at home. The food is great! Many employees are also really Italian and you can tell by everything. I have been there twice now with a group and everyone was enthusiastic. I will definitely eat there privately.

Very tasty food and really great service! Normally there is little left on a menu for me as a vegetarian & lactose intolerant person, but in this restaurant there were still enough options. Very nice :)

First time here today. I had already heard very good stories. It is completely true. I ordered a spa red and a carpaccio. Served within ten minutes. Price is less than twenty euros, which is very affordable. The service is also very attentive, drinks were poured into the glass on the spot by a waiter. Also a big plus: Italians work in an Italian restaurant, which is no longer self-evident in the Netherlands these days. Keep it up, next time I'll bring my whole family.

Yesterday we ate at Ristorante Retrogusto with our family. Food was delicious, the staff incredibly hospitable and helpful. I think I can speak for all of us that we had a very nice evening. Will definitely come back again.

Top restaurant with an eye for detail. Very nice restaurant with competent and friendly staff. The spaghetti aglio e olio is definitely recommended – everything is freshly prepared and you can really taste it! The terrace is clean and pleasantly decorated, and the inside is also sleek, neat and tidy. We will definitely come back!

Enjoyed delicious traditional Italian dishes.

What a treat to be able to eat here. Upon arrival we see a cozy terrace (we will definitely come back when the weather is warmer). Inside it looks cozy. A ground floor with an open kitchen where all the staff welcomes us friendly. A small vide and a smaller space downstairs with walls full of bottles of wine. The staff is Italian and does everything to ensure you have a nice evening. The owner, Angelo, talks passionately about the food and drinks (grappa choice). The food is really authentic and arranged to perfection. From the delicious antipasti platter to the dessert, enjoy! Really recommended to drive a bit for!

‏A great italian restaurants in the Netherlands, we had a great time as a group the first dishes are amazing especially any meal with Bread in it. We had almost everything on the menu and loved it all, as a main dish I really enjoyed the Vegi Raviolo, there's also great Italian music and the seats are very comfortable for long seating.

Yesterday I finally made a reservation at Retro Gusto on time, but it was more than worth the wait. From the very beginning you immediately feel like a valued customer, something I miss so often these days. All beautiful people, hard working, but cheerful and correct. We opted for the 4-course surprise menu, something that can be quite risky. The antipasta and the primo were great. Surprising, fresh and with a typical Italian touch. Something we missed with the main course and the dolce. They were fine, very tasty, but not special. Everything was served hot and with a smile. Nice short explanation and always attentive to whether everything was to your liking. A wonderful atmosphere. A beautiful evening. Thank you!

As a regular customer of Retrogusto, we regularly eat here with friends or family. We recently had dinner here as a department outing with a pre-arranged menu. This was again perfectly taken care of by the Retrogusto team and my colleagues were pleasantly surprised by the quality and delicious taste of the various pastas, pizzas and tiramisu!

Tasty. A real Italian restaurant. I personally found portion sizes to be very variable. But the taste was very tasty!

Very good Italian restaurant with also Italian staff. The menu even has tasty Italian beers. The interior is attractive. You can taste that everything is freshly prepared.

Delicious food from the authentic Italian dishes they serve there. The atmosphere and acoustics are great and the service is very friendly and helpful. Prices are on the higher side here and there, but you do get a lot of quality for this. Definitely recommended for a special occasion!

Wow wow wow! This really is the tastiest Italian I have ever eaten! The nice thing is that many (if not all) of the staff are Italian! The food is prepared in an open kitchen, which I personally always like because then you know it is fresh! But what a great tent this is!

What delicious food here in Druten. Real Italians. Very friendly and good service and really delicious food. We sat comfortably on the terrace, but inside it also seemed very nice and cozy with the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant.

Vanavond gegeten naar aanleiding van een kennis bij de italiaan in Druten. Het was net of ik in Italië was. De binnenkomst word je in het Italiaans aan gesproken. Heerlijk je waant je even in Italië. Leuke bediening en goede uitleg. Maar het eten meer dan bijzonder. Ik heb nog nooit in nederland zo smaakvol Italiaans gegeten. Een echte aanrader.

Gezellig terras, vriendelijke bediening. Wel overgewaardeerd gegeven onze ervaring. Eten was lekker, maar had meer smaak mogen hebben. Wijn was lekker, maar prosecco was krachteloos. Bediening was vriendelijk, maar lang wachten en herhaalde verzoeken horen niet. We hadden geen haast en toch duurde het echt te lang. Diverse medewerkers leken weinig horeca ervaring te hebben.

Our favorite restaurant. Always high quality, varied menu, cozy atmosphere and great hospitality. Top!

Heerlijk gegeten, zowel voor-, hoofd als nagerechten waren prima. Aanrader!!!! Personeel vriendelijk en professioneel, geen "wie had de..." ze weten gewoon wat je besteld hebt. En eerlijk waar: de lekkerste creme brulee sinds Parijs!!! Werkelijk heerlijk, warm en krokant laagje, zoals het hoort. Eten, personeel, alles prima. Alleen onbegrijpelijk dat je tussen 15.00 en 17.00 geen eten kan bestellen, geen lunch, broodplankje, niks! Zet er één persoon in de keuken bij en je haalt je omzet er dubbel uit. Nu waren we om 15.10 gaan zitten voor een borrel en een hapje, maar zijn noodgedwongen uitgeweken naar de buren waar ze dit wel gewoon goed geregeld hebben. Echt een gemiste kans, voor een verder prima restaurant!

We kenden Angelo al van het vorige restaurant waar hij werkte en waren steeds van plan om hem te bezoeken in zijn eigen restaurant in Druten maar het kwam er steeds niet van. Wat hebben we superlekker gegeten! Zowel voorgerecht als hoofdgerecht waren erg lekker en de bediening heel vriendelijk!

Just a good cozy restaurant with affordable food and good service. What I always pay attention to is whether the hygiene is clean, and that was certainly the case here.

Wat een geweldige keuken ! Klein restaurant in Druten met een enorme lekkere menukaart en je waant jezelf in Italie bij een mooi restaurantje (niets commercieel maar authentiek !)

In one word: great! I would recommend, recommend and otherwise promote RetroGusto to everyone. The staff is really great. They are up for a chat and really know what they are talking about. They also get along well with small children. The atmosphere is good and the decor is nice. The chairs are comfortable (which is not unimportant of course). There are places both upstairs and downstairs. Then the food... Oh boy, how delicious... Worth every euro. I almost want to go back there every time they have new specials to try everything. One thing is for sure, those chefs know how to prepare food!
