Extremely delicious food, made with love and super friendly owners!

What an experience, what a fantastic meal. My sweetheart eats mostly vegetarian/vegan, so the buffet was a dream. Creams/dips, salad, soup, and so on. Even for meat-eaters like me, there was delicious chicken and veal rolls. Moist cake and other delicious treats rounded out the buffet. The hosts were wonderful and the service was friendly. This couple is truly living their dream. We felt very comfortable. Thank you so much for this gem.

Fantastic buffet in the wednesday night. Almost entirely vegatarian. 10+ starters and 10+ main courses all tasty. And desert…. 6 different type of cakes. All yummy.

We ate the daily buffet here. It now costs 35 euros per person. Everything we ordered was delicious. There are many vegetarian options and relatively few meat options (two dishes with meat). The starters are very tasty and exactly what you'd hope for and expect. The desserts and main courses, in particular, are a bit monotonous. For example, the main courses are almost entirely "soft" dishes in something like a tomato sauce. And the desserts are all flavored cakes. We found the price-quality ratio a bit off with the new price of 35 euros. If the buffet also included other dishes, such as something crispy, fried, or with pasta, it would be more balanced, both in terms of taste and price. The atmosphere is very nicely decorated. Friendly service.

The owners were incredibly friendly. We opted for the buffet, as did most of the people at the tables around us. There was a huge selection, including many vegetarian options and some with chicken. We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious flavors and variety of dishes.

Sha’aam is a cozy Syrian restaurant in Valkenburg where you'll not only enjoy delicious food but also learn a bit about their history. The owners fled Syria and have built something beautiful here. The food is flavorful, varied, and clearly made with care. A lovely place with friendly people, definitely recommended if you're looking for something different than the standard cuisine.

Great food, good service but don't fall for the tourist trap of all you can eat buffet and rather choose from a menu.

Imagine yourself transported to the Middle East with the fantastic flavors, aromas, atmosphere, service, and experience at this Syrian restaurant. The owners put their heart and soul into everything, and you can feel it in everything: so much love and hospitality. The buffet allows you to experience a wide variety of flavors, and the juices on the menu are also deliciously fresh 👌🏼 🙏🏼

Really shocked, when I saw the pictures I thought the food would be very delicious but unfortunately it was disappointing, the rice with chicken we ate the chicken was delicious but the rice was heavy spices, several dishes with tomatoes I don't know what's the benefit they put a lot of tomatoes and tomato sauce it loses all the flavor and the dish becomes tomato sauce,,, the white rice was acceptable, the appetizers were not expertly made,,, I tried most of the Syrian restaurants in Holland from north to south, this restaurant is the worst among them,,, and worse than that you waste money and at the end of the story you throw the food as it is in the container unfortunately because you simply cannot eat it with your friends.

Finally, we've eaten at Sha'aam again for the umpteenth time. Every time, it's truly delicious. On Thursday, we tried the buffet for the first time. It was incredibly extensive, with a variety of salads and dips, flatbread, soup, different types of rice/bulgur, lots of different vegetables, and various meats. The dessert buffet was also extensive. I'm vegan, and there was so much choice at the buffet! I especially enjoyed the different types of eggplant; they were so delicious! But everything was truly delicious! So whether you eat meat, are vegetarian, or vegan, there's plenty of choice for everyone. Go there and enjoy, because it's always delicious!

The buffet is the perfect way to discover Syrian cuisine. A real treat. Very reasonable prices and a warm welcome. Recommended if you're making a detour to Valkenburg, a pretty town in South Limburg, a stone's throw from Maastricht.

Great vegan dishes in a very nice restaurant

Very nice restaurant with friendly and fast service. It is abit inconvenient in terms of ordering. If you want to go to a restaurant for a big meal, it would be a perfect place, but if you want to eat a light meal, maybe not. We went there for kebab on a Thursday, and even though it was written on the menu that they have kebabs on Thursdays, they said there is a buffet and no kebabs are available. The price of the buffet is rather high as well (35 e pp), so if you do not want to eat much, ordering is so difficult. The food was nice, but again abit pricy for what you get. We liked it but if felt like too much of a hassle to eat there.

Delicious food, sweet people! I’ve eaten at quite a few Syrian restaurant before, and this is one of my favourites now. Started with some confusion with getting a menu but actually our only option was the open buffet. Which is not my style but had a blast with it anyway. There are lots of vegetarian options, and a few meat ones for those who need that. No alcohol is served, which joys me to see. They have a few alcohol free beers and wines, some juices, the regular drinks and very nice Syrian tea. Super sweet people, cook was so sweet in helping us learn to replicate his -in my opinion- perfect rice.

Order: Hummus Indian Kebab Kibbeh The hummus is delicious, delicious, delicious, and the type of olive oil used is the most delicious. The kebab is Indian, served with delicious white rice. Kibbeh: Keep in mind that it's not like the menu picture. It's four pieces, not one piece for 3 euros. I will definitely visit Hummus again and try other dishes. + On some days, they have a buffet for 35 euros per person.

The two of us had a wonderful meal here. These people came to the Netherlands in 2015 after fleeing Syria. They learned the language in a very short time and opened a restaurant... respect. Thank you for your hospitality and the delicious food. Best of luck with your restaurant in the future.

Great local restaurant with lots of options for everyone! Especially for vegetarians. The buffet (with a set price) offers a wide selection of delicious dips, dishes and desserts to choose from. Spices and flavors are fantastic and balanced. The service is great as well: the waitress was very friendly and helpful. The chef (who’s also the owner) took a lot of pride in his work and came out to talk to us. This is what I call cooking with love! Can only recommend going here 😊

We wanted to grab a simple shawarma sandwich and fries on our last day of vacation. Once inside, we quickly realized we'd have to forget about it. There was a buffet with appetizers like hummus...or something like that...a row of trays containing the main courses, and a corner with cakes for dessert. I only recognized one thing about that food...chicken wings! Anyway...tired and not in the mood to search for shawarma any further, we sat down anyway. The service was super friendly. She told us we'd ended up in a Syrian restaurant where everything was prepared according to authentic recipes, just like "our mom makes it at home"... Well, that turned into a foreign adventure in Valkenburg! We tried almost everything...all small bites. No idea what we ate, but each one was more delicious than the last. A beaming owner watched us as we marveled at the delicious flavors of freshly prepared ingredients. After the last dessert, I asked him if he'd like to open a second location near us in Enschede...that was just a bit too far for him...unfortunately. So...if you're in Valkenburg and think...'Syrian dishes...never mind...' then that was a missed opportunity!! Definitely give it a try!!! Thanks again for this wonderful experience and the introduction to Syrian cuisine!!

The food was incredibly delicious, and the price-quality ratio is truly excellent! The owners and waitress were also very welcoming and patiently explained all the dishes on the menu. It was lovely to sit outside on the terrace, and the interior looked beautiful and inviting. I recommend the buffet so you can try a bit of everything. Many of the dishes are originally vegetarian/vegan, which makes it easy to eat with a group, for example. I didn't try the meat dishes myself, but my boyfriend thought they were all fantastic. All in all, a top-notch restaurant that brings Syrian cuisine to Valkenburg!

We paid 84€ for two people, 35€ flat per person for the "all you can eat" buffet along with two teas and two non alcheholic soft drinks (drinks are separate) The buffet has two, maybe three options for the main food, the rest are more like side dishes. The dessert sweets were the kind you can buy from the store, cut into smaller slices. Not bad really but nothing special either. Staff was nice and service was in general good but the food was nothing special and too expensive. Final verdict: Absolutely *not* worth the money. With the same price you can have much better quality food and drinks in an assortment of restaurants in the area with more options for the main dish.

A hidden gem, this Syrian restaurant. The owners are hospitable and incredibly friendly. We visited the restaurant on a day when there was a buffet ready. A delicious well-seasoned soup, a wide choice of different dips with flat bread, 3 meat dishes and various vegetable dishes invite you to enjoy. The dessert buffet also looked delicious. The drinks are, certainly for Valkenburg standards, reasonably priced. The service is friendly. Highly recommended!

An original, flavorful, and peaceful alternative close to the center of Valkenburg. The buffet was open, allowing us to sample several dishes for a very reasonable price. Each dish is different and delicious. You can eat vegetarian and still enjoy yourself. The service was efficient and friendly. A must-see!

Came here in a day with the Syrian buffet. All the food was amazing it was so hard to pick a favourite dish. It has a cozy family atmosphere and all the people running the place were extremely friendly. The drinks are also refreshing and worth trying. We finished with a Syrian tea to help digest all the tasty food.

For the first time we had Syrian food and ordered several small dishes so that we could share between the two of us. This way we could taste a lot. We chose not to eat with the buffet, because it looked so delicious and we couldn't stop eating 🤭 The staff is nice and takes the time for you. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Really got value for money: hospitable reception, owners really care about the business. Wide choice of dishes, many vegetarian, beautiful flavors. We arrived on Saturday evening without a reservation, but there was still enough space. They had a buffet for 30 euros pp. We really enjoyed our meal and everything tasted freshly made. I especially loved the 'starters' (dips with bread)! I had a lime mint lemonade to drink, very tasty with the warm weather. For dessert there were mainly cakes, such as carrot cake, also tasty. The people were also super friendly. So definitely recommended!

We ordered a lunch buffer for 70 people for the Education Days at Maastricht University and were very satisfied with the quality of the food and the service. We ordered meat and vegetarian options and everything was fresh and tasty. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious: grilled vegetables, rice, meat sausages (Kabab hindi), hummus, fresh salad (Foel medamas). I can highly recommend Sha'aam for catering and will definitely go and visit the restaurant in Valkenburg with my family. I will post photos of the event later. What a relief after walking through the centre of Valkenburg where it seems that there is nothing else to be had than a tourist bite. Fortunately, we found this address in a booklet on the campsite. Go eat here! All the delicious food is freshly prepared by the owners. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival. We opted for the buffet and were therefore able to taste many different dishes. Delicious!

We are not from around here. We mainly looked for a restaurant with vegetarian dishes. When we entered they had a buffet. We have never eaten Syrian food before. It was delicious. Lovely people and I was charmed by the plates and glasses. The desserts were also delicious

A great experience at restaurant Sha'aam in Valkenburg! We had a delicious meal there from an extensive buffet with a large variety of Syrian dishes. Everything was fresh and tasty, with many tasty salads and also many vegetarian options. The decor and atmosphere in the restaurant are warm and authentic; you immediately feel welcome. The owner is also the chef, together with his wife, and they prepare all the dishes themselves. Everything is homemade and prepared with care. An absolute must if you are in Valkenburg and are looking for something special!

The open buffet is delicious. Tasty lentil soup and starters with bread. Then a lot of choice of vegetarian dishes and 2 different meat dishes with all kinds of rice. For dessert a lot of delicious pastries, with coconut, chocolate and other sweets. Very friendly welcome and explanation about the different dishes. I will definitely come back!
