The staff was very friendly and even offered me coffee as it would take some time to prepare my large order.

Last Thursday, November 28th, I visited Strik Patisserie on Ziekerstraat in Nijmegen. What a disappointing experience due to the unclear pricing and poor communication. During my lunch break, I ordered a cappuccino and a "Blondie" pastry, which was clearly priced at €2.50 in the window. I said I would eat it there. When I paid, I was asked for a total of €8.45, which amounted to a ridiculously high price for the cappuccino. When I inquired about the receipt, it turned out the pastry cost €4.95 instead of the advertised €2.50. The employee explained that the €2.50 price only applies to takeout and that the price for consumption at the restaurant is higher. However, there was no "takeout price" or any clear indication of this price difference anywhere near the pastry in the window. This is misleading. A customer shouldn't assume that the price on the ticket in the window isn't the price they pay, especially not without clear communication. Eventually, it was acknowledged that the price on the receipt (then €4.95) was even too high and had to be corrected to €3.50. I received the difference back, but still had to pay €3.50 instead of the advertised €2.50. This felt like poor service and unprofessional pricing practices. Customers expect the advertised price in the window to be the price they pay, unless clearly stated otherwise. It's not like the service is excellent that I should have to pay more! I'll never come back here again.

Even as a child, Strik was a household name in Nijmegen when it came to fresh, delicious pastries. Now I'm 64, and I still buy my weekend pastries from Strik on Ziekerstraat. Only Strik makes the difference!

Pastry and Cappuccino The pastries were delicious, but the cappuccino was disappointing: too much milk flavor and not enough coffee.

In a previous review, I unfortunately had to report that the Keizer Kareltje didn't taste as good as before. Today I got another "Lekkers" and it tasted great again!

If you choose perfection, which is perfectly delicious, then there is nothing that can top the whipped cream truffles from Strik.

When I eat cake 🍰, I want real cake 🍰. Then I go to Strik. When I want a sweet treat, I buy delicious chocolate at Strik. When I want something less sweet, I buy a muesli cookie. When I'm in the mood for something sweet, I buy the crispy apple turnover. When I'm craving a sandwich, I buy it at Strik! For children's birthdays, I order a children's cake 🍰 with delicious marzipan. Really delicious! A true Nijmegen institution. Who doesn't know Strik?🎀 Greetings from Esther van Kempen.

We bought three different tarts. We put one in the freezer for later, and we devoured two others right away. Both were delicious! A week later, we also ate the frozen ones. We really enjoyed them again. Delicious flavor, lovely texture. We can't wait for the next opportunity :)

Last Monday, we had an appointment at this bakery to discuss our wedding cake, an important event for us. To our surprise, the appointment wasn't registered in their system. Instead of understanding or any kind of hospitality, we received a cold and distant response. I had to prove myself by showing the email confirmation—which I thankfully managed—but even after that, the tone remained rather disinterested. The employee mainly offered excuses: that there was a lot of absenteeism due to illness, that she was the only one in the bakery and that she couldn't do anything. Instead of taking responsibility or offering any input, we were met with a "I can't help it" attitude. When I asked who I could speak to about this, they didn't give me a clear answer. They tried to call someone, but they didn't answer. They wrote down my information, promising I would be called—but so far, we haven't heard anything. For an appointment as personal as a wedding cake consultation, I would have expected at least a modicum of empathy and professionalism. Unfortunately, it was anything but. Nothing was resolved, no apology was offered, and no further contact was made. Very disappointing.

Amazing experience! Very nice staff, great delicacies for everyone. I had vegan brownie, my husband had cheesecake. My brownie didn't look promising, but it was really great, with kind of like a fudge on the top. The cheesecake was also very good, creamy. Very clean place, beautifully decorated.

Decent cappuccino, but I expected more. The display window could use a good cleaning. Ants and dead flies look at you sadly.

Today I bought a delicacy for €50. I'm always happy when I can go there. After payment, the boxes and bags were placed on the counter. How am I going to wear this??!! No bag!!! Yes, I had to ask for it. 15 cents…waaaaaat come on bow…where is your service from before. Discount it in the sales price. And a “Tip”… about the service, hairnet and gloves when packing are part of these times. Too bad Strik!!

Really good, tasty cakes. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. For 3,5 euro/piece it is net superior to anything you can buy in mass production.

Got some oliebollen for New Year's Eve. But they're not completely cooked inside. And that for 1.45 euros each (!)

A wonderful place, but ill-prepared for an allergy. I wanted to get nut-free pastries here for a serious nut allergy, but the service was extremely unfriendly and uninformed. When I asked which nut-free pastries they could recommend, they responded sheepishly. They have no knowledge of an allergy that, while perhaps difficult, is certainly no longer unknown. Too bad, but this was the last time!

Filled oliebollen (raisins, currants and sucade). Sticky and sticky balls, not cooked inside. Ball does not spring back. Different in weight. Handmade, said the saleswoman. They were better from Kraayennest! Too bad you experiment yourself!

What delicious pastries. We had different flavors. They are not too sweet and you can really taste what is in them. And they look really beautiful. You see and taste the love for the profession. It's that we don't live nearby otherwise I would definitely come more often. Or you could open a branch here in IJsselstein because we could use that 😉

We went to buy some desserts yesterday. We waited for around 15 minutes in line. When we were in front of the cashier, she just decided to ignore me and my husband. She decided to take the order of the person behind us, she didn't even say anything to us. We left and she didn't even care. No idea way she didn't want to take our order and be so rude. We will not be coming back

Got 2 pastries. According to the employee, a truffle cream. Once I ate it at home it was a mocha foam. A bit of a shame. Another pastry was an apple crumb and this one was really not good... it tasted like a pastry from last week. The supermarket has better apple crumble...

I picked up this cake 5 minutes ago. This was ordered on Thursday for my son. I told the staff that I wanted the text “Jason 8 years old” on the side of the cake. and on top of the cake a photo of my son. I sent photos twice, the first time they didn't receive them, they called me. I sent another photo immediately afterwards. I was given a number which the staff said I could call to check if they had received the photo. I called twice, no one answered. I didn't hear from them after that. I thought everything was fine. but they gave me this when I came to pick up the cake. not even anything followed my request. and the cake was even broken. looks ugly. it's a shame I wanted it as a surprise for my son. now I have to give him a cake that looks like it was bought at a supermarket. I have been ordering cakes from them for years. this time I'm really disappointed. will never come back and won't recommend it to my friends. This supermarket cake costs €59.

Good Patisserie, always flexible to order via the website and then pick it up after work. I think the service is mediocre, recently got a look of "What are you doing here" and "Have a nice day" was not responded to, but the quality of the pastries certainly makes up for a lot.

Delicious pastry, difficult to choose. You can sit inside, but I found it lacking in atmosphere and it is also small. But so delicious, that makes up for everything.

Popped in for a cake & coffee. Chocolate mousse cake wasn't as good as I'd hoped. The outer chocolate layer was sticky & hard to deal with. The chocolate mousse was not sufficiently chocolately for my taste. Staff were friendly.

Tried the VEGAN sticky chocolate-walnut cake - it was amazing! Served it as dessert during the Christmas dinner with my non-vegan family. They all loved it very much. Very rich and delicious sticky chocolate ganache on top, this is a real treat for any chocolate lover. Patisserie Strik - please expand your vegan assortment! I saw all the beautiful non-vegan cakes on display, and I am sure you can make vegan alternatives of these too. Of course I am happy you offer two really good vegan options, but ideally, giving them a real platform and offering some show-stoppers that are vegan would be really awesome! The price is fair too - not exorbitantly expensive to have cruelty-free cakes that look and taste gorgeous. No need to make them "healthy" - cakes can (and should) be indulgent: sweet, exciting, delicious, and you achieved just that. Bravo!

Cosy atmosphere for drinking a coffee! Red velvet cake was delicious and the sweetness was amazing. I strongly recommend chocolate brownie cakes! It’s more delicious than I expected!

Staff here repeatedly claim that there is no alcohol in the pastries when this is indeed the case. Some pastries contain alcohol. If you go to the store to say that it does contain alcohol (you can see this VERY CLEARly on the website), you get an ugly face and a big mouth in return. Lady who was in the store today 10.11.23, you are such a sour person. Go do your job well. If a customer has a question that you cannot answer with certainty; then check first instead of answering when you don't know!

The first impressions were perfect. Apple pie and tompouce were tasty. And the coffee was fine too. And the atmosphere is cozy, beautiful. Employees are sympathetic. Unfortunately, half an hour later we had stomach problems. Farted all night long. Shame. I don't know where the problem lies... maybe bad margarin or something like that. But I don't want to recommend this place

We ordered our wedding cake from Strik and it was beautiful and delicious! You can easily walk in to discuss the details. We were also well advised in this regard. We and our guests were also very satisfied with the gluten-free and vegan cake that we ordered as an alternative.

Bought banana puffs for a visit but they were embarrassingly dry/old. Really not fresh and/or baked today. Ditto white bulbs, especially from the day before. Very unfortunate because I went to Strik specifically for something tasty.....

I’ve been a fan from Strik for a while now, and last weekend I ordered a layer cake for my daughter birthday. It was absolutely delicious and gorgeous!

Super nice, super tasty. If you want to eat good cakes, or some nice sweets this is perfect place for you. They have really nice cozy place inside, and as well outside in summer time. Lovely place, good price and quality is super good. Love it

Come here regularly, delicious sausage rolls and cakes. It's just a shame that the staff comes across as if they don't feel like helping you. Very unfriendly staff. Too bad for such a nice pastry shop. Not taking time for you and very disinterested attitude.

Strik Patisserie is a place where you will find a unique dessert for your appetite. Specifically in Nijmegen there are no many places where you can find this kind of dessert. There are many bakeries which make really good cakes either for lots of servings or single ones, but this one is more of a "red velvet" and "mocha" style. The prices are where they should be for such a dessert e.g expect to pay more or less €10 for a serving of two people who both have their own coffee and cake. Good quality, nice welcoming environment and okay staff.

Really nice and easily spotted in the center of the city. It's located almost next to the mall. The store has a variety of desserts for eating in or taking away. Also serve very nice coffee, and also really nice croissants. The interior is cute, i dont know if it was done by a professional, but still cute. Would go again.

Coffee was tasty but the sausage roll was soggy.

Everything in the display cases looked beautiful. Unfortunately we got a weak sausage roll with our coffee. Whether it had been a moment and the microwave. Quite disappointing for that amount.

A lot of things are fine, but the macarons are just really not good. I've given them a chance several times and not once have I had a bad one. The cookies are completely dry on the inside with lots of air holes, while macarons should be soft and chewy on the inside. Pity. Also the staff wasn't very friendly the last time I was there.

Very attentive service. Great quality. I bought ten luxury pastries for a media store in Nijmegen. Top customer service there too. Those employees must have been very surprised with such a delicious treat!!

Not customer friendly. Too miserable to wait until foreign family can pay by card because they are closing. As a tourist you don't really get a nice picture of Nijmegen. 😞

Bought Oliebollen 10 pieces on December 30. I have never bought such fat Oliebollen but the birds had fun

Bought Bossche bulbs on December 11. Delicious dark chocolate but... Only 1/3 filled with whipped cream. It's a shame that Strik Patisserie delivers it this way. It will still be a very expensive pastry.

I am a huge fan of Strik's pastries. For more than 10 years, we have been getting 1 pastry for both of us every weekend. On birthdays we get our cakes from Strik and we don't even put out cards, but everyone knows where the cake comes from! Then why 3 stars? I find the attitude of a number of staff members indifferent, bordering on being irritated if, for example, you cannot find the pass quickly enough. I think this is a shame because it was different and the treatment was a lot friendlier, which should be Strik's style given the prices you charge.

Have experienced this twice now. No greetings whatsoever, Mrs. (With glasses) keeps talking to customers without any regard for the other person. Very customer unfriendly. I don't come here anymore. Shame. Apparently she's doing too well.

Good quality, but incorrect information was given about a promotion that turned out to be no longer valid. The response was that I was wrong. Then incorrect prices were indicated and no proper response was given. Disappointing experience. I'll be going to friendlier bakeries in the city from now on!

Tasty bread and very good pastries

This place surprised me. I placed an order for a baby shower cake via online order and called several times to confirm. I was told by Jacqueline, the order representative, that the cake would be made as ordered and they would place the baby booties I had brought with me on top of the cake for me during pick up. They assured me the cake would be packaged so I could take it to the baby shower (a 1 hour drive from Nijmegen to Utrecht). At pickup, the staff said they could not place the baby booties for me as they had no buttercream...which is extremely odd for a bakery not to have this on site, and especially since I was told this would be done for us. They also DID NOT provide a box for the cake! I have never been told to take a cake from a bakery just exposed to the air without any package or box covering it! This was unacceptable and highly unprofessional. I asked repeatedly for a box and was told they did not have any and do not usually give boxes for cakes...? This was a baffling experience and the staff was very firm and unwilling to help come up with a solution. If you want a professional job done that is worth the cost, DO NOT use strik patisserie. I ended up having to do their work for them and they were completely unapologetic not to mention misleading. Very disappointed in this highly unprofessional bakery and their poor customer service!

Another store less on Dukenburg. And STRIK in the city is too far for me and then the parking costs in the center, I will move to WC Malden. Baker, butcher, greengrocer, cheesemonger. And..... Free parking bye...in the center of Nijmegen

Delicious pastry. Lots of choice and also seats to have something to eat with a cup of coffee. The seating area is somewhat boring, but you come there for the pastries. And that's a real 10.
