One of the best coolest places to eat in the Netherlands

This morning I came here with my son and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter for a drink and a piece of cake. My son and I ordered hot chocolate with whipped cream, mint tea, and a piece of cake. I brought a whole-wheat sandwich for my daughter. When the waiter brought the order, the sandwich was frowned upon. When I asked if this was a problem, I was told that I would have to ask first and that it was "too late" now because the sandwich had already been removed from its foil. This created an awkward atmosphere, which made the drinks and cakes taste much less delicious. When I checked out, I mentioned it again, but was told that croissants were also on the menu. Unfortunately, I found this rather unwelcoming. With the high prices, I expected more understanding and customer service. Sadly, this was my last visit.

Maybe the best restaurant in Arnhem? You can either spend a bit of money on an amazing hamburgers and a nice beer or two, or go crazy with the always incredible menu and great selection of drinks. Sugar Hill never disappoints!

We had a fantastic dinner at this charming restaurant on Monday evening (November 3rd). After some helpful advice from the waiter, we were first served a delicious wine. The main courses were then beautifully presented. My partner enjoyed the delicious swordfish, and I had the steak. The side dishes were the perfect finishing touch. Combined with the relaxed atmosphere, the staff made our evening truly complete. We highly recommend Sugar Hill—definitely worth the trip from Rotterdam.

I can't understand why people think the burgers here are so cool; it was a real disappointment.

We had a delicious meal. We were able to sit on the terrace, which is a bit on a busy road, but that didn't spoil the fun. It has a cozy atmosphere, and the service is incredibly fast and attentive. The wines they serve are also delicious and pair well with the food. The dishes are essentially traditional but with a modern twist, delicious flavors, and fresh ingredients. All in all, a top-notch place!

The burgers are especially recommended. They also have delicious cocktails and whiskeys.

A cozy atmosphere and, above all, excellent food and drinks in Klarendal since 2011. The kitchen uses high-quality ingredients. The menu changes regularly and is seasonal. The dishes are flavorful and very well prepared. There's also plenty of choice for vegetarians. The burgers are a standard item; definitely recommended! You can't make reservations here; keep that in mind. If you want to be sure of a spot, it's best to arrive early in the evening (or later). There's a good selection of (special) beers and fine wines. There's also a unique whiskey selection (I think; I don't know much about it myself). They regularly use game. (So, definitely come back in October/November.) This place has had a positive impact on the neighborhood's transformation. Also fun: the block party during Fashion Night. Then you should definitely not miss Sugar Hill: if you feel like dancing.

A cozy hotspot in the Klarendal neighborhood. A lively, old, working-class neighborhood with an artistic character. The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was cozy and familiar, and the food was surprisingly good! Highly recommended if you like oysters, oysters with Martini and Bergamot! The price was a bit high overall. But we definitely wouldn't pass it up if we were ever in the area again.

Review of Sugar Hill – Arnhem Sugar Hill is a super cozy place in a nice location in the city. The five of us went here for dinner on June 10th and had a great time. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting – the kind of place where you want to hang out a bit longer. I don’t think you can make a reservation in advance, so be there on time! Parking in the immediate vicinity is a bit scarce, but with a bit of searching you can usually find a spot. Final verdict: 5/5 stars – definitely recommended!

A mini aubergine for €15.00? Seriously?? When we order the aubergine, we obviously don't know yet that it will be so small. We ask if bread is served with it. Yes, we are told. When the aubergine is served without bread, we ask about it. Then they make it a bit difficult. No, it is always served without bread... Furthermore, the whole place was covered in flies...yuck.

Last weekend we ordered 1 aperol, 1 limoncello and 1 soft drink for which we had to pay 29 euros. 12 euros per drink, very overpriced. Prices were also not indicated on the menu. Furthermore, a nice place with friendly staff.

I think the prices are highly exaggerated for the location. 4.50 for a cup of tea. Even after asking 3 times, they could not tell me which flavors of tea were available. There is no tea box or nice presentation for the loose tea to choose yourself. I also opted for the passion fruit cheesecake, but it had almost no flavor. It doesn't have to be cloyingly sweet, but you can taste that it contains some sugar. It is better to keep this version separate for customers with diabetes. No, we won't be coming back here for tea and cake.

A cozy place, wonderful that buzz around you, without getting loud. And the wonderful smells coming from the open kitchen. Tasty tea! And had a pastry. Sitting and chatting very pleasantly.

Perfect place in the middle of Arnhem (free parking, where can you find that?) to catch up with your friends in a casual and casual atmosphere while you have a nice drink (or really good coffee, but the alcoholic drinks are also very okay). ) and have a snack. Their own bakery is just down the street, so the bread and homemade pastry items are just fine. The menu lends itself to shared dining, snacks, but also a filling main course. The McFoie, a burger with a mountain of foie gras and truffle jus, may not be very healthy but is highly recommended. The bread with anchovy butter was delicious. Prices are very reasonable and the service is fast and friendly. Toilets (LGBTQ+ proof) are clean and tidy. Reservations are not possible: just walk in and sit at the bar until something becomes available. It is busy all week, so arrive on time. Every residential area should have a 'Sugar Hill'!

Get Enough, the map makes citizens a bit more complex. But that's some whining on my part. What I got was perfectly fine. By the way, the next point is not against Sugar Hill but against the guests. Close the door behind your ass! Especially now that it's starting to get cold!

Sugar Hill. Dit is een unieke plek in Arnhem. Fantastische sfeer, fantastisch eten. Hardcore bistro. Vanavond mijn vrouw vooraf: open raviolo met paddenstoelen, ik lamspaté. Als hoofd had zij een hele mooie snoekbaars in beurre blanc met hele mooie groenten (waaronder boterraapjes en venkel) en ik had Pierre Koffmann's stuffed pig's trotter (varkenspoot met oa zwezerik enz). man man man, allemaal zo lekker klaargemaakt. Beter wordt het qua bistro niet. En de sfeer kan ik niet goed uitleggen, daarvoor moet je er gewoon naartoe. Sugar Hill bedankt wederom.

Delicious lunch + cake to take home

Nice lunch tent in a cozy spot. Simple but great card. The cakes with coffee are also delicious. On the other hand, the price of special beer and especially wine is much higher. Don't spend an evening here because you have to save up first. In the evening we drank a white wine for almost 8 euros without having seen the menu. Unprecedented price for a house wine.

Every morning we visit this incredible establishment. Very tasty coffee, and everything we had the chance to taste. The staff is a special pleasure. For us, morning coffee in it has become a tradition.

We had a very delicious meal at our favorite restaurant in Arnhem. Always bursting with taste, courage and style. Enjoyed the two-course lunch menu. Bisque with generous fresh mussels as starter, delicious, perfectly tender spring chicken with lentil and fennel stew in Madeira sauce for 27 euros. So happy with this prime location just around the corner from us.

It’s super refreshing to see people doing what they really like. This is the feeling I had at Sugar Hill. Such nice retro atmosphere, the hosts are incredibly nice and welcoming, and the food is delicious. I came here with my 4- year old son for cake at 9:30 in the morning (during vacation time). It was not only the only place open, but the best service I have experienced in a long time.

Nice, authentic cafe restaurant in the fashion district of Arnhem, also a working-class neighborhood. You can sit comfortably on the terrace along the road where there is a lot of movement. Food and service are very good and the menu is unique!

Een gemiddelde cafetaria ziet er beter uit dan deze tent. Je kunt elkaar nauwelijks verstaan vanwege de herrie (zowel uit de keuken als van bezoekers), en de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding is compleet zoek. Zeer veel geld voor zeer matige kwaliteit, het eten is het absoluut niet waard. Voor dat geld kun je ook in een fatsoenlijk echt restaurant eten. Dit was eens en nooit meer.

Didn't even get a chance to ask if there was/was room because they were immediately thrown out the door. No greeting or hello. It was immediately said that the inside was closed and there was no room outside. In an annoying tone.

had the easter tasting menu (39€ per person, but we shared between two people and it was enough for us), everything was amazing and left with a full tummy full of yummy food :) also had coffee which was nice! the staff was very kind, telling you about the dishes, asking if everything is ok, if you’d like a vegetarian option. would highly recommend!

There are vegetarian dishes on the menu, but in fact this is an ordinary meat joint where they also make money from vegetarians, who they laugh at behind their backs. Don't go here, even as the vegetarian appendage of your meat-eating friends or colleagues. These people have no respect for anyone's choice not to eat animal cruelty. They don't care about animal life or the planet; they just make really bad jokes about it. (See pictures.) EDIT on Sugar Hill's response: That's right, I will never eat at a restaurant that puts dead animals 'on display' and calls it a 'creation', while at the same time embarrassing vegans with a tasteless April Fools' joke. The animals that Sugar Hill serves are also slaughtered industrially. 'Animal friendly meat does not exist. Calling someone critical an extremist is as tasteless as Sugar Hill's April Fools' joke, which they quickly removed when it turned out that it didn't go down well.

Nice location and great service. Tasty wines and an easy lunch menu. The prices are high. A small bowl of nuts now costs more than €5.

De leidinggevende man is heel luidruchtig en druk. De dames in de bediening zijn attent en vriendelijk. De thee komt heel mooi in een kannetje en is prima. De belegde boterhammen zien er op het eerste gezicht goed uit maar uiteindelijk betaal je erg veel voor iets matige. Vooral veel van de goedkope ingrediënten en weinig van de duurdere. Geen aanrader

Het bier en de wijn is goed. De hamburger is van een matige kwaliteit. Een zielig broodje en een kleine bijna verbrande hamburger. Een stronkje sla met augurk en met wat chips gedrapeerd.

The classic burger was good. The Motoe with duck liver and gravy was burnt, when I reported it the waitress told me that there was nothing she could do about it and that was it. Paid in full. Bit of a crazy situation.. Tiz is still bitter on the back of my tongue :D

Their staff while eating their meal on a table next to me, were asking among themselves if I am a man or woman. And this all in Dutch (since they assumed that I don’t underestimate their language) I said at the counter before paying that this was not nice and girl (cashier) who was on the table gossiping acted as if she doesn’t know what is the name of person who was saying that. I live like 10meters from this cafe and I can really say they need to educate themselves more. Gender identity is such an important topic? having a certain idea of how man and woman look like? Never went their again but this is important to let people know that this kind of behavior can happen there.

Trendy place on the edge of the fashion district in Arnhem. Friendly staff. Open kitchen, so it can be a bit noisy while washing dishes. Furthermore, a great place with a terrace. 2023: Apparently the heater is completely turned off in winter. I had to put on the jacket to get warm.

Ik ben hier echt blij mee. Een restaurant als deze zijn we al een tijdje naar op zoek. Een heel gezellige, informele plek waar je je welkom voelt. Personeel is super aardig en behulpzaam, het restaurant zelf huiselijk en gezellig. Het eten precies wat ik had gehoopt. Aandacht gaat uit naar wat er op de kaart staat en er is goed over nagedacht. Ook zeker voor ieder wat wils! Heerlijk wijntje bij het eten en de zoetigheid komt natuurlijk van Sweet Sugar Hill vandaan. Ons ga je zeker vaker terugzien!

Omg the kimchi burger was like..like the new space food flavor.(I mean the kimchi inside a burger was raw.) how about using fried kimchi? I was shocked. Because my nationality is kimchi country. Workers were so kind and sweet! They deserve to take more money for tips omg i love it i love you❤️‍🔥

Heerlijk geluncht. De koffie en ons broodje waren super. Sfeer die op het terras hing was heel goed lekker midden in een woonwijk op de stoep. Al met al lekker middagje gehad hier. Zeker een aanrader.

Taart om 22:00 uur, ja zeker en lekker dat t was!
