The Bakery Leeuwarden in Binnenstad

We had booked a high tea and received confirmation twice. We arrived at The Bakery, and the door said they were closed. We hadn't received any notification, and there wasn't a single message about it on social media either. Extremely customer-unfriendly! After checking for a phone number (there wasn't one), we discovered there had been several complaints in recent months. All in all, a disappointment. We won't be coming back.

Way too expensive for what you get! A ham and cheese toastie for €9.95, you'd expect something, right? But no! The latte macchiato, in a small lemonade glass with foam, looked good, and came in a large glass! It's a real shame, such a lovely place in a beautiful building, but we'll keep walking next time!

We dropped in with high hopes because of the interior, as it looks like a cosy brunch café. But the girl that served us did not greet or talk, she just waited for me to start my order, and also when brining our coffee she whispered. Staff are on their phone, chilling. Ok, it wasn't busy, but the atmosphere was off.

We had booked high tea. However, after being greeted, it didn't arrive. After a few times, a friendly waitress came to our table to ask if we wanted to order something and indicated that we had booked high tea, we received it after about half an hour. It was a shame there was no coordination; it felt very strange that, after three times that we had booked high tea, they apparently hadn't gotten things right. It wasn't busy, otherwise we would have happily waited. It came across as unprofessional. There's definitely room for improvement there. The high tea itself was good. The room was clean, with nice seating areas, and the restroom facilities were also excellent.

Not very fresh baked goods on Monday. The coffee is average. It doesn't smell very fresh.

Despite the mixed recent reviews, we went for a High Tea with high hopes. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. The selection of savory and sweet snacks for seven people was very limited. When we asked if that was all we needed, we were told it was; additional snacks were only available for an additional fee. As a group, we've enjoyed many High Teas throughout the Netherlands, but this one clearly ranks at the bottom. Given the price-quality ratio, we won't be returning.

Good food but amateur service. Mid coffee. Got our order messed up twice...

After seeing a mouse crawling under the table several times and receiving poor service, I was done eating. It's deeply saddening that I politely reported the incident, showed the video, and then received no apology or compensation for a half-eaten lunch. When I pointed out that the complaint had been handled very casually, the young waitress responded, "We're working on it." The first-in-line waitress didn't respond at all. So, the problem is known, and the question remains whether hygiene in the kitchen is guaranteed. An expensive lunch for a lackluster response. Shame on you.

Unfortunately, a disappointing experience! We waited a very long time for our toast and sandwich, and by then we'd already finished our drinks three times. The avocado-egg sandwich arrived without avocado (we had to ask for it) and was prepared without any sauce, mayo, or spread. There's definitely room for improvement!

The High Tea was unfortunately a bit disappointing. There were few choices, and the selection felt somewhat limited. The food also didn't have the fresh look we'd hoped for. The location and atmosphere were otherwise fine, but overall it lacked the experience you expect from a High Tea. Hopefully, something will be done about this in the future, because with a bit more variety and freshness, it could really be a nice experience.

A very disappointing experience. If the kitchen is already closed at 1:00 PM for whatever reason, you should mention that before ordering drinks. We weren't told until our drinks were already there and we were about to order food. A bad move for the Bakery Cafe.

It's quite remarkable that you pay over 6 euros for a glass of water with syrup that's being sold as homemade iced tea. Definitely go next door where they make really fresh smoothies and other things.

Even if you want to eat gluten-free, this is the place to be. Breakfast here is a treat in a pleasant setting with friendly staff.

We were looking for a breakfast place for 2 adults and a fussy 9 year old, he rated the pancakes 10/10 which i can fully agree with possibly the best pancakes ive ever had. The ham and cheese croissant were some of the best we have had in the Netherlands, everything we had was lovely and would definitely come again. If you are looking for a fantastic breakfast in leeuwarden this is the place to go.

SICK overpriced, club sandwich bland, stone cold just egg salad slapped on it with cold dry chicken and bacon and some lettuce. After a complaint nothing was compensated. Really really really bad I really would not eat here.

We had a high tea. This was okay, but I have had high teas that were tastier and more extensive for the same money. At the name bakery café you expect delicious home-baked things, but that was disappointing. Everything was put on the table at the same time. The sandwiches with salmon were warm and the scones and pastries I have had tastier elsewhere. So it was a bit of a disappointment.

We had ordered lunch at The Bakery Leeuwarden for a group of 13 people on location, and everything was really super organized. They were right on time, the food looked great and tasted delicious. Luxury sandwiches, sweet treats, fresh juice, milk and crockery, everything was taken and neatly picked up afterwards. What was also very nice, was that allergies and dietary requirements were taken into account. Everyone, from crew to customer, was very satisfied. Really recommended if you want a good and carefree lunch!

Sandwiches with sour chicken, large slices, little toppings. Matter of taste.

Ordered two hot chocolates with whipped cream. They were ready to be served for a long time, so they arrived lukewarm. One of the chocolate milks was therefore not drunk and remained completely full. I indicated this at checkout (€10.60), but was only curtly told: "To take this with me in the future." I am very disappointed in the response and service.

Enjoyed a lovely high tea here! One of the wraps wasn’t really my taste, but the rest was delicious! Would go again to try one of the other choices high tea 🫖

Been here for the second time! Nice place with nice and cozy interior. Breakfast, lunch and coffee were fine. However, both times we experienced that ingredients had run out, so we could not order everything, which was a shame. And the map was not up to date.

Ik had gevraagd voor een Barista workshop. In de zaak al afgewimpeld door een medewerkster Ik moest maar een mail sturen. Dat heb ik ook gedaan en via FB bericht gestuurd maar 0 reactie. Ik kom hier niet nog een keer.

At 11.30 am the kitchen still had to start up.... waited 40 minutes for a ham and cheese croissant. No feedback on that. A disinterested waiter. The girl who came later did better. Once for me, but not again...

Nadat we ruim 10 minuten op het terras gezeten hadden, gingen we binnen om te bestellen. We werden in het Engels aangesproken, er zou zo iemand bij ons komen. Een half uur later nog niemand gezien. We zijn dan maar vertrokken. Het was er nochtans niet druk.

Red velvet cake has no cream cheese cream but very light, sweet cream with no other taste other than sugar, which makes it very dull. The cake itself is just okay, not too dry, but also not tasty. Lemon cake was also just okay

Croissant, yoghurt, gembershotje en jus d ‘orange besteld. Croissant erg veel deeg, weinig lucht en geen krokante korts, volgens mij geen echte verde bakkers croissant. jus dorange was gewoon vieze gepasteuriseerde rommel. Wel veel geld vragen maar geen kwaliteit. Terug gegeven en ze wilde mij laten betalen vanwege een slokje, dit geweigerd. Yoghurt en gembershort was wel redelijk maar twijfel over kwaliteit door voorgaande 2 producten. Nooit meer hier naartoe voor mij.

It was a bit confusing because there are two restaurants next to each other with the same owner. But the food was tasty.

Nice informal homely atmosphere with different areas where you can sit quietly for a lunch or coffee break. Pricey but definitely recommended.

Het begon al met de keuze,1 van ons koos en gerecht dat was op. Bruin brood was ook op. Flesje Appelsap zaten vlokken in, was bedorven. Brood was niet geroosterd wat wel werd gevraagd. Mega lang moeten wachten, terwijl iedereen om ons heen al lang kreeg. Smaak was prima. 2 van ons waren al klaar, en de tafel werd gewoon afgeruimd terwijl ik nog at. Ik kreeg het gevoel, schiet jij ook maar ff op. Het was niet echt druk, dus daar was het niet om. Daarna best veel betaald, dan verwacht je ook dat het goed gaat. Oh en dat iets op is, is niet de 1e keer.

Lekkere chocomelk en gebakjes maar, de slagroom smaakte waterig en de helft van het personeel spreekt niet een Nederlands

Picked up a piece of white chocolate cheesecake to try. Grainy structure, tasteless and cloyingly sweet garnish. Very disappointing.

Little sweet coffee by the water. Delicious selection of food with bread, cakes, tea, coffee etc. Staff is a bit disorganized and at some tables you can't tell that it's self-service. But food was delicious.

Beautiful building with good atmosphere, nice place to sit. Friendly staff. The high tea was delicious, especially the sweet part, the savory part could have had a little more variety instead of many of the same wraps.

Had a cup of coffee and cake here on a Saturday with two people. Coffee and pastries were delicious. Atmosphere was cozy and a good setup. Taking the order and serving took a very long time.

Had a vegan high tea Pastries were still half frozen And wraps have a lot of the same Not much for 3 people and paying 75 euros I had a stomach ache and diarrhea when I got home and my girlfriend had nausea and a stomach ache. We won't go here again

Poor value for money. Expensive orange juice, contrary to promises, was not fresh and the bread did not taste fresh either.

This is a surprisingly nice tent! The bakery is somewhat hidden in the middle of the city center, has a cozy interior with nice plants, attractive lamps and nice chairs and benches. We had a cappuccino and a Spiced Chai Latte and two pastries here. All delicious! We were helped quickly and friendly, highly recommended!

Cute place and friendly service but very high prices. A croissant costs almost 4 euros, an apple juice 5. The grilled chicken sandwich was tasty but not very special. I realize these are expensive times but there are better choices for the money.

Very nice location, super friendly staff and the best cheesecake I've tried so far. Loving interior and also little things from local businesses such as handmade bags, honey, soaps etc. Full recommendation, the only drawback: the places directly on the canal belong to the adjacent shop from the same owner, same staff, but you can only order sandwiches. If you want cake, you have to sit one row back or go straight into the bakery 🤷🏼‍♂️

Sehr guter Cappuccino. Auch die Kuchen und Torten sind absolut empfehlenswert. Aussen und auch im hinteren Teil hat es Sitzplätze. Innen sehr gemütlich eingerichtet. Einiges (zb Appeltaart) ist auch vegan. Kommen gerne wieder

Genoten van heerlijk koffie en thee met taart. Superfijn dat er ook glutenvrije taart is 😋 Dat dit in zo'n mooi oud en sfeervol pand is, maakt het een extrabfujne plek om zeker naar terug te keren.

Leuke plek om koffie te drinken. The bakery zit in een gezellig pand, naast koffie, brood en taartjes verkopen ze er ook interieur spulletjes! Van buitenaf is niet te zien dat je binnen kan zitten, maar achterin is meer dan genoeg ruimte om gezellig koffie te drinken of te lunchen. De cappuccino was heerlijk, één van de betere die ik in Leeuwarden heb gedronken. Het croissantje was helaas net wat te droog. Het personeel is vriendelijk en de zaak is modern en gezellig ingericht.

Verjaardagshightea van Renske (8 jaar). Sommige dingen vind ik wel een beetje te zoet, maar de hartige dingen waren allemaal lekker. Dus je verdient echt vier sterren!

Wat een fantastisch leuk plekje! Heerlijke lunch en afgesloten met een lekker gebakje. Hier komen er graag nog eens terug. De hele sfeer is fijn!
