Reservation at 6:30 PM. Starter arrived right on time. At 8:15 PM, still no food. Only when we asked for it did the food arrive around 8:30 PM. Unfortunately, I read this too often in the reviews. It's a shame, also for the waitresses, who had to listen to the grumbling on that Friday evening. It really puts a dampener on the atmosphere of the evening.

We had a fantastic, delicious meal here tonight. Shared dining, lots of choices, and everything was delicious. The host was very friendly and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommended for a fun night out!

Ate there twice, and they were absolutely fantastic! Spar ribs and a burger. Both were absolutely delicious. The beef carpaccio appetizer was a dream, as was the Dame Blanche dessert. 👍 Highly recommended. 😊

On the advice of a former employee, we went to De Bastaard last Saturday, August 2, 2025. The reservation was quickly arranged for table 5. It's a busy spot, given the central location. The advantage is that glasses stay filled, the disadvantage is a strong breeze when the staff passes by. Orders were placed quickly and the dishes were beautifully presented. Unfortunately, the soup wasn't very hot; I mentioned this to the waitress, but no further action was taken. The main course and dessert were excellent. All in all, we had a delicious meal and enjoyed the pleasant atmosphere. The service was provided by a couple of friendly, attentive ladies!

It was very busy, and the service was not pleasant! Grumpy faces!!! Only the blonde woman was nice.

Nice little restaurant where I had dinner with colleagues. The mussels were delicious! The staff was very friendly. It was a successful evening.

Top, even the music choice last Saturday afternoon

The service was excellent! Nothing bad to say about the service. But if you want to eat here, plan on spending 4 or 5 hours. (Yes, even with less than half the seats occupied, both inside and outside.) Made a reservation for 6 people and arrived at 7:00 PM, ordered drinks, and received them promptly at 7:10 PM. Ordered a bread board with the main course. At 7:40 PM, we called the staff for the bread board, and they immediately walked us to the kitchen. After 10 minutes, we had the bread board. We waited until 8:30 PM, then walked inside and told them we were done waiting. After 80 minutes, with the bread board still not served, and with less than half the tables occupied, I find it absolutely outrageous. We simply won't be back. We went to Timmer across the bridge, and our food was on the table within 10 minutes.

Previously excellent, recent visits have been disappointing. Loud noise, very long waits, stressful staff, limited space, and food far too salty (a group of 10 people booked ahead of time).

Very good food, and the portions were good value for money. The service was excellent, unobtrusive, and always there when you needed it. Only the German tour group at the next table, who behaved embarrassingly, dampened the mood. I apologize for my fellow countrymen, but the staff must have realized that things can be different. Thank you for the lovely evening and the great food.

Sitting comfortably on the terrace, took a while to order, sandwiches with 2 sauces in advance. Those sandwiches were old and were not charged. Ordered the regular mussels and they were really delicious. Pinot Grigio white wine we found a bit less 7.5 € per glass, the Chardonnay was nice for 5.20 € per glass. Roos and the rest of the service was okay. It was quite busy and they had to cross the street all the time, but friendly and no stress. Will definitely come back. (near the boat).

Meat always served cold, little variety, service poor.

Both the restaurant and the food truck are a wonderful experience! Very well organized, nice down-to-earth people as staff and of course delicious food. The spareribs are a real classic but the salmon is also delicious! From the food truck I really liked the chicken satay and the hamburgers the most. In short, I would love to come back here.

Spontaneously called for 8 people, with 2 80+. Was well thought along and we got a super spot. Delicious food and very friendly and hospitable service. Recommended!!

Good vibes and the food (we had Irish Stew, and mainly meat ✅ with a side of mash) we found a quieter area because the noisy TVs are not helpful for a dinner with friends who would like to talk.

What a nice restaurant. There is a cozy atmosphere. It has a nice interior. And don't forget the food; excellent in taste and portion size. The service is suitably informal. In short, this is on my list of favorite restaurants.

Very cozy restaurant, you can sit inside, but for a little more peace and quiet it is lovely outside. Food is very tasty, we had the venison steak which is highly recommended. And Dukejan is always good 🍻

Recently, my wife had a stomach reduction and they were very well thought out about fulfilling her dietary wishes. Friendly service and a very nice atmosphere!

Starter was okay, not great just fine. Main course, bavette was tasty. Well cooked and the chimichurri and vegetables were very tasty with it but the potatoes unfortunately lukewarm and tough. Spareribs were fine. Spicy could be spicier but that is a matter of personal preference. Dessert was unfortunately not a success for us. All in all, we had an okay meal. Not great but just fine. Younger lady in service was very friendly.

Tested the shared dining menu with a small group on Sunday afternoon. And that was fine. Good atmosphere too.

Great restaurant with very little choice on the menu. Very good grill with a mix of chicken satay and spare ribs (Bastardo Grill). The entrance on the IJssel side is the 'real' Bastard. The entrance on the Oudestraat is the Bastion. Also note the bridge that connects the two parts, underneath which lies a remnant of the old city wall.

Atmosphere was good, food quality was low. Service was top notch.

After not being there for several years, I finally ate again. Of course I went for the spare ribs, which are not as tasty anywhere else as at the Bastaard and they did not disappoint me today. Almost ate my fingers. Delicious food was really great again.

We stumbled over this stunning looking place and decided to just drink some coffee there but ended up having one of the best ribs ever. We were served by such a lovely and welcoming waitress who helped me improve my broken Dutch bit by bit and had such a great time. I can highly recommend this place sitting outside as well as inside. Phenomenal

I have never eaten such delicious mussels anywhere as here! I went for the Spanish variant, it was supposed to be a bit spicy and it was, but certainly not "too". I even ate/drank the liquid from the pan like an aso with a spoon A few days later I had dinner there again with friends and it was again very tasty. The portions are measured correctly and it all tastes very good. There is someone there who thinks and knows what they are doing. Furthermore, the staff is friendly and attentive. In short, it is 100% worth it to have a bite to eat here while you have a view of the IJssel and listen to the beautiful melodies played in the bell tower. The price/quality ratio is good.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed! Apparently nobody likes German guests here! After ordering drinks and food, we weren't asked once if we wanted anything else. We were simply “overlooked”. The prices are disproportionate to the food served!

As part of a river cruise we stopped in Kampen and found what we were looking for in the bar in the evening. There are enough places inside and outside. Outside you sit in a kind of winter garden. The roof can be opened if necessary. There are various sailing ships next door that you can enthusiastically examine. Friendly staff, prices acceptable. We recommend.

Ordered a main course outside on the terrace, mixed fish. It took a very long time, but upon inquiry it turned out that there were 3 large groups inside that were also served. When the main course came, it was more than worth it. Quality really top! Good taste (grill flavor on the shrimp, fine), nice variety, and sufficient quantity. Also very tasty fries. Restaurant highly recommended.

For us, the restaurant where quality, price and conviviality are perfectly balanced. Food is always good and tasty and certainly more than enough. Staff always neat and correct.

Yesterday we had a delicious dinner with a delicious mustard soup as a starter, satay as a main course and mascarpone ice cream for dessert!

Ordered venison for 3 people. Couldn't eat because it was way too salty. Indicated, nothing was done. Just pay. Very weird.

Long waiting time (almost 1.5 hours) for the main course. Then a burnt pancake that was served, and many other little things, but all in all just very sloppy and the waiting time was too long. Very nice service (in general). Unfortunately, the Bastaard is no longer what it was 10 years ago in terms of quality.

We did eat okay. My husband and I had been eating out together for a long time. Only my husband had entreque and that was so little even though it said 200 grams. For 30 euros you expect something. And there was a lot of onion stuffed underneath. But unfortunately. The salmon as a starter was a few pieces. While a table next to us really had a plate full. Very sorry. Furthermore, the atmosphere was good and cozy. Nice service.

Definitely should have received 4 stars, we were sorry that 2 of our table companions ordered the same thing, but did not receive the same thing. A large and a small bavette. Unfortunately it was 28.50 per piece. The food also tasted good.

Cozy, good food, a bit noisy when it's busy

Tijdens een huwelijksfeestje zaten we boven. Erg mooi en sfeervol ingericht met zelfs een balkon voor de rokers. De bediening was top, vlot en leuk. Met name het hoofdgerecht was uitermate goed. Al met al een dikke aanrader!!! 😍

Gezellig uit eten gegaan met mijn gezin. Het was een knus restaurant, zag er leuk uit! Echter wel luidruchtig wanneer er wat meer mensen aan zaten omdat alles redelijk dicht bij elkaar zit. Het eten dat we hadden besteld kwam lauw aan. Totaal niet warm. Frietjes waren wel goed, en ook erg lekker. Eten is mee terug genomen, en toen weer terug gebracht, maar de buikspek van de mixed grill was niet meer lekker krokant en het vlees was iets droger geworden. De smaak zelf was heerlijk, maar het was net alsof het in de magnetron is gegaan. Kan natuurlijk gebeuren, misschien hadden we gewoon pech. Bediening deed wel hun best om te helpen met onze klachten.

Mooi gelegen aan de IJssel met terras op de kade en sfeervol restaurant binnen. Lekker om een drankje te doen maar ook de menu kaart is de moeite waard. Echt een aanrader!

Goed restaurant. Erg fijn terras langs de IJssel. Vriendelijke bediening. We bestelden de pitiige spareribs. Die waren smakelijk bereid maar hadden wel wat pittiger mogen zijn. Ruime portie.

Leider was es zu spät für Muscheln 21.30 Uhr. Man konnte aber Kleinigkeiten bestellen. Endlich ein Lokal was weiß was Longdrinks sind und eine gute Mischung machen

Haben mittags draußen am Hafen gesessen, recht gemütlich, schöne Aussicht und nettes Personal. Das Essen ging so, kleine Portion zu einem erhötem Preis- Leistungsverhältnis.

We hebben heerlijk gegeten en de bediening is super. De saté was eerst nog te rauw, maar dat werd echt super opgelost. Het is gewoon een goede bistro.

Heerlijke sfeer. Fantastisch eten. Super Personeel.

Het broodplankje dat we kregen was taai/oud en koud en duurde lang voordat het kwam, ook het brood bij voorgerecht was taai/oud. Spareribs en parelhoen verder prima maar niet fantastisch. Investeren in vers brood zou het al met al een stuk beter maken.

Prima restaurant met fijne ambiance

Reasonable food for a reasonable price. We were there on a Saturday evening when it was very busy and the service was much slower than we would have liked.

Spareribs waren taai en toen ik dat melde bij de serveerster deed ze kort af en liep ze weg zonder ook maar een oplossing te bieden. Gezellig restaurantje maar je zal mij er nooit meer zien. Kan me voorstellen dat er een keer een iets minder stukje vlees tussen zit maar als je dat dan meld en er word niks mee gedaan dan weet ik genoeg. Echt jammer het had makkelijk anders gekund.

Goed eten, vooral de spareribs icm de saté zijn aan te raden.

Heerlijke sfeer vriendelijke bediening. Sate was wat aan de lauwe kant maar wel lekker ribs ook lekker.

Tentje ziet er goed en netjes uit. Wel een beetje een doorsnee restaurant qua menu. Het vlees van de spare ribs viel helemaal niet van het bot af, de salade had lichtelijk bruine randjes alsof het al een dag oud was. Voor mij niet voor herhaling vatbaar helaas.
