The College Restaurant & Terrace in Museumkwartier

We were staying at the hotel where this brasserie is located, and one night we were too tired to go out, so we decided to give it a try. The service was pleasant and polite. The pace was normal for a European restaurant, though I can see how Americans might find it a bit slow. The food was actually better than expected—proving that low expectations can sometimes be a good thing! 😂 My husband, being hungrier, ordered a salad and a risotto, both of which he said were surprisingly good. I stuck to bar-style food: fried calamari and diner sliders. The calamari was just average, and of the two sliders (one burger, one fried chicken), only the burger was decent—the chicken was overcooked. I had a mocktail, which was underwhelming, and my husband had a beer that didn’t live up to the amazing Belgian beers he’d been enjoying earlier in the trip. All in all, it was not bad, but nothing remarkable either. The total bill was around $90 USD, which is about what you’d expect from a hotel restaurant.

We had a family brunch on Saturday. Very nice and pleasant dining environment. The waiter was very kind. Service was great.

Bad service, the service was absolutely terrible. It took ages for the food to arrive, and it's ridiculously overpriced, and you get almost nothing. 20 euros for a hamburger, and then you have to pay extra for fries. Don't come. It looks nice, but the service is incompetent and terrible. Avoid this restaurant. Don't be tempted by the beautiful building.

A truly wonderful and pleasant experience! Lovely atmosphere, ambitious, and hospitable, friendly staff! My first visit and definitely not the last! The garden, including the seating, is fantastic, and everything is more than well-maintained. Everything in the hotel and restaurants is also perfect! A big thumbs up for the staff 🍀

One of the best hotel terraces in Amsterdam! I was so happy to be there with my girlfriend; it was the perfect introduction to the city for her.

The College Hotel Bar & Bistro offers an exquisitely fine dining experience. In a chic and contemporary comfortable atmosphere with gentle lighting and music. Even the restroom is a dream. With eyes kept on every delicate detail. I was delightedly hosted by an amazing, dedicated and attentive team. Isabella, Rafael and Leandro are the cream of the crop ! The truffle risotto is heavenly ! Carefully cooked to perfection. And they also serve the best crème brûlée in Amsterdam !! What a terrific treat !

On our way home, we craved a hot drink and dessert. We happened to walk past the College Hotel and spontaneously decided to pop in. Even though the restaurant was quite full around 8 p.m. and we hadn't made a reservation, we received a friendly welcome. Because we preferred not to be among the other diners, the hostess offered us a quiet table. This attentive service was immediately noticeable. When we looked at the dessert menu, we discovered that all the options contained eggs, which was a problem for one of us who is a vegetarian. Fortunately, the staff was helpful, and the chef was able to create a suitable alternative. This allowed us to enjoy the meal together. A spontaneous visit that was a pleasant surprise. The College Hotel excels in hospitality and flexibility. A wonderful place for a relaxing end to the evening.

We chose this place to celebrate my birthday, with my family (11 people). When we arrived, the tables were not ready and we waited for 10-15 minutes to get seated. The service overall was good but every request took so long: just bringing menus took half an hour… we waited long for everything: for drinks, for starters, main courses came in an hour..! Food was very good, quality was great, but the speed was very disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend this place. They need to add more waiters to make a stay in this restaurant an enjoyable experience.
