We had a delicious meal and the service was friendly and good.

Very tasty spare ribs. I went with a (blind) friend of mine and the staff handled it very well. The card machine wasn't working when we went to pay, so we had to wait, and then we got a free drink. Also, halfway through the meal, my phone started running out of battery, and the waitress took it away so she could charge it for me, which was very sweet!

Quite a nice concept, but so much choice from so many types of meat, and I didn't recognize all the labels. I opted for Wagyu steak, and although it was fine, I didn't really get a "Wagyuhurah" experience from it. A nice piece of grilled meat on a small wooden board, and that was it. There were side dishes with raw vegetables and fries, though. And yet, it was quite pricey. That's why I'm giving it an average rating. Meat is simply expensive, but I go out to eat partly to be spoiled.

We had our dinner in the backyard garden, and it was such a lovely experience.❤️ The service was fast and the food was delicious😋. I’d also like to give an extra thank you for serving tap water without us even having to ask. It’s such a kind gesture and something I really appreciate in a restaurant🫠

Had a terrible evening. Had to wait 1.5 hours for the main course. Didn't see any staff asking if we wanted anything to drink, nor asked if everything was to our liking. When paying, I was asked if it was to my liking. No, it wasn't, and I gave my feedback. The only reaction was asking if I wanted the receipt? Excuse me? Shouldn't you respond, or what I just told you? I received a response to my complaint by email, and they indicated that they were understaffed. Why let so many people in then? Truly worthless; what should have been a special evening turned out to be one big disappointment. As compensation, I can get a drink on the house next time. Thanks for the offer, but I won't be coming back. I've eaten there often, but they've lost this customer. Too expensive to have such an experience again.

We had a delicious meal. First, we shared a steak tartare. Very tender and flavorful. Then a tomahawk. Pure bliss. It is a bit pricey, but the quality is top-notch! And the staff are so friendly too. Highly recommended!

I was served a ribeye that was completely full of sinew that you couldn't cut through with a knife. My daughters also had a ribeye that was completely covered in solidified fat. I think the meat was cooked frozen or not heated enough. In any case, it was inedible. They went to cook new meat for me, but after half an hour I still hadn't received anything, while my daughters had already finished their meal. During that half hour, no one came to the table to ask if we wanted to order anything else or extra fries. After a long discussion, we paid for the starter and drinks and left. According to the boss, it was very busy; that may be true, but then there needs to be more staff. For me, once is enough, never again.

It is an expensive restaurant, at least on the menu. Because the rest looks like a thrift store. According to the staff, the meat platter was more than enough for two people; well... my child would still be hungry afterwards. (Three sandwiches for 2 people?! We just cut them into thinner slices ourselves..) And prices are way too high for the amount of food. Only the meat is tasty. The rest isn't. (You really get way too little meat for that price in terms of portion size. It's insane!) Okay okay, the fries were 'still doable' according to my companion. Way too salty truffle risotto (I'm afraid you'll still be smelling of it after a few days). But if you like dried-out cucumber, which they make look like a salad, well, then you have to go for it. We decided not to have dessert, not because we weren't hungry, but because we no longer believed that this could be the best way to end the meal.. We went to McDonald's afterwards. Never again to The (blegh) Meat Company.

You can get the best meat here; sauce isn't necessary, it's that good! I come here regularly.

Everything was excellent! Dishes made with high-quality, grass-fed beef. It's significantly healthier, and you can taste the difference. The dishes are very flavorful, and the burgers are perfectly assembled. The service was very friendly and accommodating to all our special requests. Menus were available in English and German. The restrooms were very clean. The interior has a dark, rustic ambiance, while the courtyard outside is bright and natural. The prices are fair considering the quality.

I've lost count of how many times lately I've been served a Ribeye in restaurants that wasn't cooked properly or was tasteless. But The Rough Meat Company knows exactly how to cook a piece of meat! Divine! You can tell from both the menu and the staff that there is passion behind it. And you can taste it too! Highly recommended in Zutphen if you love a good piece of meat. Don't forget to make a reservation, because it is not a mass-produced restaurant.

Upon entering, it looks very cozy. We were seated at the assigned table just at the back around the corner and, in our opinion, were a bit forgotten. It took a very long time before someone even came to take our drink order, while people arriving after us were already eating. We were with a baby and the high chair was also forgotten; we only received it after asking twice, when we had finished half of our main course. The food was delicious (hot dog and mixed grill); the spare ribs were delectable, but the chicken tasted just like it came from KFC and the sausage had an extreme smoky flavor. Not to mention the price-quality ratio. I don't think we will be going back here anytime soon.

Last Sunday, May 11, 2026, we dined here with 5 people, and it was once again a very good experience. We had visited RoughMeat a few years ago, and this second visit certainly did not disappoint either. We started with the “super sharing platter,” and the name is truly fitting. A very well-stocked platter, varied, and more than enough for our party of five. Ideal for a relaxed start. For the main course, we had a nice mix of dishes: spareribs, two RMC plates, and the tasting bavette for two people. Everything was prepared with flavor, served at the right temperature, and clearly made with care. The bavette, in particular, was a big hit. Additionally, the service was friendly, attentive, and professional. What we really appreciated was that after the sharing platter, we were politely asked when we wanted the main courses served. This made the dinner feel relaxed and well-aligned with our pace. The only minor downside we found was that the interior of the restaurant is quite dark. That is, of course, part of the atmosphere, but personally, we would have preferred a bit more light. All in all, a very successful evening and definitely worth repeating.

Went there for the first time yesterday. A warm welcome upon arrival and friendly service. They even let you sample the wine to help you choose. Their expertise is definitely evident. We had a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere. The meat was perfectly cooked and flavorful. The fries were excellent; everything was perfect. If I had to mention one minor complaint, it would be that I don't think the music suits the restaurant. (Maybe it's a personal thing, but that's the only point I can make.) Until next time.

Delicious meat, the steak is perfectly medium rare, the spare ribs fall off the bone, the chicken is crispy but tender in texture and the sausage is nice and crispy on the outside but the inside is really delicious in texture.

This is some great BBQ. I ordered the ultra hot ribs and they were cooked great. Even the sides were good. The cucmber salad is great when things get too hot, the fries were lightly seasoned and crisp (not soggy like you get in some places), The potato had a little bit of a kick of spice in it that was not over bearing.

I've eaten at The Rough Meat Company twice in the past few weeks, and I don't think I'll go anywhere else. Both times we had fantastic meals. The Dutch pasture-raised beef sirloin, the mixed grill, and the Bavette Tasting were all top-notch. Perfectly cooked, delicious herbs, fresh and tasty side dishes, and very friendly staff. Absolutely top-notch!

Service was okay; perhaps they should have brought the drinks menu right away and asked for them a little later. But we were given a carafe of still water right away. The service was rather cool and reserved, but okay; you just don't feel very welcome. My husband's spare ribs were very good, my burger was okay, but taste is subjective. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The music was a bit overpowering, and the decor was interesting.

Haven't eaten this well in a while. Delicious appetizer (beef platter) and the deluxe burger as the main course. The meat was heavenly; you can taste the care and attention they put into its preparation!

Two days in a row, I enjoyed the exceptionally delicious food they serve here. The service is fantastic, fast, and hospitable, and the food is even better. On the first day, I chose the bavette tasting; the Wagyu melted in your mouth. On the second day, I took my in-laws here because of the success of the first evening. We had the chef's special deluxe, which is a high-quality mixed grill. The beer menu is excellent, the dinner menu is fantastic, and the atmosphere is fantastic. I'm very happy with this restaurant, and if I'm in the area again, I won't miss it. Oh, and they also offer lovely outdoor dining! We had a wonderful meal at The Rough Meat. Friendly staff, delicious wines, and the food was absolutely delicious. It was midsummer, and we were able to sit in the courtyard. It felt like being on vacation in France/Italy (even though we live in the same city as the restaurant). It was our first time, and it certainly wasn't cheap, but it was definitely worth it. When I arrived last Friday I almost left because of a very grumpy employee. I couldn't even say 'enjoy your meal'. Your plate was put on the table and she was gone. 5 stars for the colleagues, 0 stars for her. Go work somewhere else if you don't feel like it, but don't ruin your guests' evening!!! Fortunately, the rest of the evening was helped by 2 other nice, friendly, blonde ladies. The food was tasty, the main course not very special. All in all fine. Nice outdoor area behind the restaurant.

Great place, super sharp service. They address you by name. Lovely wines, we were offered a tasting glass. The place is nicely decorated. But above all, the food is delicious. And yes, you don't get this combination for the "social deal" price. This combination of quality, service, and atmosphere costs a bit more, but it's worth it.

Being American this was an interesting experience, the steak we ordered was prepared completely differently than you would get in the US, a good cut, and meat was good, but we would always sear a ribeye at some point to help crisp up and render out the fat...this was still very limp. However the chicken appetizer was fantastic and the large meat/cheese appetizer was definitely en experience I've never had before!

The most disappointing "dining out" experience ever. There were four of us. I specifically asked the waitress what the most tender cut of meat was. She made several recommendations, including the sirloin steak. I said, "No, that always has a bit of fat on it." She suggested I order the brisket because "it melts in your mouth." I don't know what brisket is, but I took her recommendation and ordered it. Then the meat arrived: It was fatty, fatty, and about 1 cm of meat, and then fatty, fatty, fatty. That thick, white fat. I immediately indicated I wasn't going to eat it because I'd specifically asked for tender meat and no fat. Then the cook came out of the kitchen, "Yes, ma'am, you did order brisket, and it does have a bit of fat on it." I explained that I'd asked for no fat and didn't know what a brisket was. Then, after waiting about 10 minutes, I got a half order of spare ribs, which I could eat alone because my table companions had already finished their meals. When my husband went to pay, it turned out they'd taken 50% off the brisket. If they'd resolved the issue properly, they would have taken 100% off, since I didn't get what I ordered. But when I checked the bill, it turned out they'd charged 1 BOTTLE of rosé wine instead of 1 GLASS. Coincidence???? What also struck me was that the same waitress, when she asked my husband how he wanted his meat cooked, asked, "Not well done, but still a little pink." "Oh, so Medium Rare," the waitress said. (That's the exact opposite of "Medium, well done" or "Medium Rare"). I suspected then that this waitress at this meat restaurant didn't know what she was serving. Never again for us.

De sfeer was gezellig, alleen wel een beetje rumoerig omdat er veel grote groepen zaten. Maar heerlijk gegeten, echt een aanrader voor de vleesliefhebber!

What a delicious meal we had. We started with an appetizer board. Actually, you have already eaten quite well if you order this. Afterwards I ate ribs with smoked rub and my husband ate diamond tenderloin. Both were very tasty! We will return when we are in Zutphen again.

Onverwacht waren we in Zutphen aanbeland. We hebben dan ook pas twee uur van tevoren gereserveerd. Vriendelijk personeel. We hebben een mandje brood met kruidenboter genomen: heerlijk brood. Daarna een inderdaad kleine steak maar wel met een ruime hoeveelheid kippenlevers, spek en ui. Erg lekker! Salades en frites kon je zonder kosten bijbestellen. Wij stellen de kan water met munt en citroen die ongevraagd (en gratis) op tafel werd gezet waarderen. Wij komen beslist nog eens terug.

Omdat mijn vriend nogal een carnivoor is, had ik dit restaurant uitgekozen om te gaan eten tijdens een weekendje in de regio Zutphen. We werden vriendelijk welkom geheten. Direct na binnenkomst kregen we een karaf met water met citroen en munt op tafel. We hadden de burger deluxe en spareribs. Deze waren beide erg lekker, maar de spareribs waren écht uitzonderlijk goed! De bediening was super en de prijs viel mee. Oké, we hadden wel ongeveer de goedkoopste gerechten van de kaart, je kunt het zo gek maken als je zelf wilt! Als we dichter in de buurt zouden wonen, zouden we hier zeker vaker komen!

Ate here for the 3rd time yesterday. As expected, the food was great, the service was on point and how fantastic the atmosphere was is almost impossible to put into words! Highly recommended if you want a nice, chic dinner, the price-quality ratio is more than worth it. What is also added is that they also have a delicious wine list and how great is that you can order a matching wine with a delicious dish!

By far the best BBQ restaurant I've been to. I have been to many BBQ restaurants in various states of the US but I have rarely eaten ribs as good as these. We have been coming here for a number of years with great pleasure.

We came there just for dessert and the waiter was kind enough to give us a table even though we did not have reservation. The desserts though were amazing, they are with very unique taste and were not like those mainstream dessert in other restaurants. Definitely will come back for the main if I have chance.
