I've eaten at The Rough Meat Company twice in the past few weeks, and I don't think I'll go anywhere else. Both times we had fantastic meals. The Dutch pasture-raised beef sirloin, the mixed grill, and the Bavette Tasting were all top-notch. Perfectly cooked, delicious herbs, fresh and tasty side dishes, and very friendly staff. Absolutely top-notch!

Service was okay; perhaps they should have brought the drinks menu right away and asked for them a little later. But we were given a carafe of still water right away. The service was rather cool and reserved, but okay; you just don't feel very welcome. My husband's spare ribs were very good, my burger was okay, but taste is subjective. The ingredients were fresh and beautifully presented. The music was a bit overpowering, and the decor was interesting.

Haven't eaten this well in a while. Delicious appetizer (beef platter) and the deluxe burger as the main course. The meat was heavenly; you can taste the care and attention they put into its preparation!

Two days in a row, I enjoyed the exceptionally delicious food they serve here. The service is fantastic, fast, and hospitable, and the food is even better. On the first day, I chose the bavette tasting; the Wagyu melted in your mouth. On the second day, I took my in-laws here because of the success of the first evening. We had the chef's special deluxe, which is a high-quality mixed grill. The beer menu is excellent, the dinner menu is fantastic, and the atmosphere is fantastic. I'm very happy with this restaurant, and if I'm in the area again, I won't miss it. Oh, and they also offer lovely outdoor dining! This was the first time we dined here, even though we've lived in Zutphen for over 20 years. We should have done it sooner. We had a wonderful meal outside in the courtyard. The atmosphere was great, the service was friendly and well-informed, and the food was excellent! It was a bit pricey, but it was more than worth it.

It felt like being on vacation in France/Italy (even though we live in the same city as the restaurant). It was our first time, and it certainly wasn't cheap, but it was definitely worth it. When I arrived last Friday I almost left because of a very grumpy employee. I couldn't even say 'enjoy your meal'. Your plate was put on the table and she was gone. 5 stars for the colleagues, 0 stars for her. Go work somewhere else if you don't feel like it, but don't ruin your guests' evening!!! Fortunately, the rest of the evening was helped by 2 other nice, friendly, blonde ladies. The food was tasty, the main course not very special. All in all fine. Nice outdoor area behind the restaurant.

Great place, super sharp service. They address you by name. Lovely wines, we were offered a tasting glass. The place is nicely decorated. But above all, the food is delicious. And yes, you don't get this combination for the "social deal" price. This combination of quality, service, and atmosphere costs a bit more, but it's worth it.

Being American this was an interesting experience, the steak we ordered was prepared completely differently than you would get in the US, a good cut, and meat was good, but we would always sear a ribeye at some point to help crisp up and render out the fat...this was still very limp. However the chicken appetizer was fantastic and the large meat/cheese appetizer was definitely en experience I've never had before!

The most disappointing "dining out" experience ever. There were four of us. I specifically asked the waitress what the most tender cut of meat was. She made several recommendations, including the sirloin steak. I said, "No, that always has a bit of fat on it." She suggested I order the brisket because "it melts in your mouth." I don't know what brisket is, but I took her recommendation and ordered it. Then the meat arrived: It was fatty, fatty, and about 1 cm of meat, and then fatty, fatty, fatty. That thick, white fat. I immediately indicated I wasn't going to eat it because I'd specifically asked for tender meat and no fat. Then the cook came out of the kitchen, "Yes, ma'am, you did order brisket, and it does have a bit of fat on it." I explained that I'd asked for no fat and didn't know what a brisket was. Then, after waiting about 10 minutes, I got a half order of spare ribs, which I could eat alone because my table companions had already finished their meals. When my husband went to pay, it turned out they'd taken 50% off the brisket. If they'd resolved the issue properly, they would have taken 100% off, since I didn't get what I ordered. But when I checked the bill, it turned out they'd charged 1 BOTTLE of rosé wine instead of 1 GLASS. Coincidence???? What also struck me was that the same waitress, when she asked my husband how he wanted his meat cooked, asked, "Not well done, but still a little pink." "Oh, so Medium Rare," the waitress said. (That's the exact opposite of "Medium, well done" or "Medium Rare"). I suspected then that this waitress at this meat restaurant didn't know what she was serving. Never again for us.

What a delicious meal we had. We started with an appetizer board. Actually, you have already eaten quite well if you order this. Afterwards I ate ribs with smoked rub and my husband ate diamond tenderloin. Both were very tasty! We will return when we are in Zutphen again.

Onverwacht waren we in Zutphen aanbeland. We hebben dan ook pas twee uur van tevoren gereserveerd. Vriendelijk personeel. We hebben een mandje brood met kruidenboter genomen: heerlijk brood. Daarna een inderdaad kleine steak maar wel met een ruime hoeveelheid kippenlevers, spek en ui. Erg lekker! Salades en frites kon je zonder kosten bijbestellen. Wij stellen de kan water met munt en citroen die ongevraagd (en gratis) op tafel werd gezet waarderen. Wij komen beslist nog eens terug.

Omdat mijn vriend nogal een carnivoor is, had ik dit restaurant uitgekozen om te gaan eten tijdens een weekendje in de regio Zutphen. We werden vriendelijk welkom geheten. Direct na binnenkomst kregen we een karaf met water met citroen en munt op tafel. We hadden de burger deluxe en spareribs. Deze waren beide erg lekker, maar de spareribs waren écht uitzonderlijk goed! De bediening was super en de prijs viel mee. Oké, we hadden wel ongeveer de goedkoopste gerechten van de kaart, je kunt het zo gek maken als je zelf wilt! Als we dichter in de buurt zouden wonen, zouden we hier zeker vaker komen!

Ate here for the 3rd time yesterday. As expected, the food was great, the service was on point and how fantastic the atmosphere was is almost impossible to put into words! Highly recommended if you want a nice, chic dinner, the price-quality ratio is more than worth it. By far the best BBQ restaurant I've been to. I have been to many BBQ restaurants in various states of the US but I have rarely eaten ribs as good as these. We have been coming here for a number of years with great pleasure.

We came there just for dessert and the waiter was kind enough to give us a table even though we did not have reservation. The desserts though were amazing, they are with very unique taste and were not like those mainstream dessert in other restaurants. Definitely will come back for the main if I have chance.

Nice place, meat very good, starter steak tartare. This tasted really good and I have rarely had such a tasty steak tartare anywhere. Then we ordered 1 piece of meat with the 4 of us that we liked best on the board, this cost us €28 euros, BUT then you have to make sure that the pieces are cut evenly and not one is thicker than the other. . We had received a free beer, which was service. Operation otherwise fine. You get fries and cucumber salad and farmer salad, which you can order as an extra. Food quality was absolutely good. However, if you order a meat board for 6 people for €300, you would expect it to be a bit more of a party. Now 1 plank of meat, 2 bowls of fries, a bowl of lettuce and a bowl of cucumber came to the table. This did not give a €300 feeling. The service left much to be desired, even though it was later and only 3 tables were occupied and no one had anything to drink, the service walked past the empty glasses several times. Everything took a long time, there was no feeling that people were happy that we were there. After paying €510, there was no goodbye or thank you.

Was echt het beste steakhouse van Zutphen. De kwaliteit van de menu’s is beina gelijk gebleven. De bedieningstijd na bestelling is toegenomen tot minimaal 1 uur (personeelstekort? Of bezuiniging?). Porties zijn danig geslonken. Prijs van een glas wijn bijna gelijk aan de kostprijs van de hele fles (arbeidsloos voor inschenken?). Geeft in totaal het gevoel dat het niet meer om de klant gaat maar om het inhalen van corronaverliezen.

Een heerlijke vleselijke ervaring!

Net weer hier gegeten. Het was wederom fantastisch. Ik had vooraf de Caesar Salad, met daarin warme stukjes kipfilet. Daarna hadden we met drie personen de Chef's Choice: vier soorten rundvlees van de BBQ; bavette, diamanthaas, ribeye en brisket. Mooie Malbec erbij en wat wil een mens nog meer? Bediening is attent en persoonlijk. Nadeeltje van deze prima gelegenheid: het is er zo gezellig, dat iedereen er wil eten. Daardoor staan de tafeltjes wel wat dicht op elkaar.

Echt heerlijk gegeten! We hebben carpaccio en broodje vooraf gehad. Als hoofdgerecht hebben we beide spareribs gehad. Echt een aanrader. Pittige saus lekker pittig. En voor nog pittiger hebben ze extra hete saus staan. Goede uitleg over het vlees, wijnen en de kaas. Bediening uitstekend en gezellig. Passen zich goed aan aan je wensen. Goede tips qua eten en wijn. Erg leuk de kaaswagen als toetje. We komen zeker nog eens terug!

We kwamen binnenwandelen Nav het bord buiten….kom lekker eten in de binnentuin. Niet gereserveerd en toch hartelijk welkom, terwijl het restaurant behoorlijk vol zat. Over bediening, keuze, kwaliteit geen gebrek. Beter gezegd…. Gewoon top. Het is een pure luxe zulke kwaliteit te krijgen. Vanaf de eerste seconde tot vertrek was het voor ons 1 groot feest. Het is een absolute kwaliteit dat je al die jaren dit niveau kan vasthouden. Maar het is voor ons klanten toch ook geen probleem als niet alles probleemloos verloopt. Dit alles is perceptie. Een fijne avond word door niemand gegarandeerd. Een leuke avond is een samenwerking tussen ons en de mensen in het restaurant Het tijdperk dat een ober(symbolisch) bedoeld alle leuke ingrediënten op een dienblad opdient is onrealistisch en is al lang voorbij. Wij zijn met een heerlijk gevoel vertrokken en komen zeker terug.

Locatie is heel mooi, en het eten was finger liking good.

Ja, wat zal ik ervan zeggen?! We komen hier 2 maal per jaar met speciale gelegenheden en het is altijd feest. Een orgasme voor de smaakpapillen. Het vlees wordt met zorg en aandacht bereid en uitgeserveerd. Chapeau! Ben je niet gebonden aan budget en je wil eens wat bijzonders, gun jezelf een heerlijke avond RMC!

Très bel endroit, la viande est extrêmement délicieuse. J'ai pris un "rib eye" saignant, et je ne regrette pas pas mon choix. Le prix en vaut le coup. Par contre les frites étaient un peu farineuses, mais rien d'alarmant. Je mets 4 étoiles pour le service car le serveur s'est trompé (alors qu'il a noté sur un calepin) de cuisson pour la viande de l' un d'entre nous. L'attente est un peu longue quand on redémande du pain par exemple. Malgré ces petits irritants, je conseille fortement ce restaurant pour la viande et aussi pour l'ambiance.

Helaas kijken wij met enige teleurstelling terug op onze avond uit bij RMC, met name het eten. We namen als voorgerecht het 'van alles wat' plankje en was nog wel redelijk, maar veel standaard specialiteiten (Serrano, Coppa di Parma, etc.) en ook iets van 50? augurkjes. De teleurstelling kwam echter bij hoofdgerecht. Ik wilde eens uitpakken en bestelde de dry-aged USA rib-eye (let op, €49) en mijn partner de hamburger. De Rib-eye had aan beide kanten iets van 3 grilstreepjes en was verder helemaal blank, alsof het gekookt was, geen kleuring. Garing was wel medium-rare gek genoeg. De smaak was voornamelijk zout, heel veel zout, met nog wat losse zoutflakes bovenop. Ik hou van 'hoog op smaak', maar dit was veel te. Toen ik dit doorgaf aan de bediening zou ze het "doorgeven aan de keuken", maar hiervan verder niks meer gehoord. Het broodje van de hamburger was aan de bovenkant voor de helft verbrand/zwart en niet eetbaar. De hamburger zelf helemaal doorbakken en droog. De bijgerechten (groenten, frietjes, salades) waren prima. Met tegenzin €110 voor twee personen afgerekend.

Het beste vlees restaurant in de omgeving Zutphen!!! Aanrader! Update sept 2022. Nog steeds de beste van Zutphen. Gewoon naar toe gaan.

Alweer een tijdje geleden maar nog steeds onovertroffen als vleesch restaurant in Zutphen, prachtige locatie en vriendelijke bediening.

Met collega's heerlijk gegeten in de binnentuin. Leuke bediening, goede uitleg wat er op tafel verschijnt.

Heerlijk eten, goed vlees, fijne porties en een top sfeer zo wel binnen als in de buitentuin midden in Zutphen!

Het eten was heerlijk. Alleen duurde het 2.5 uur voordat wij ons hoofdgerecht kregen. Er werd nauwelijks tot niet gevraagd of wij wat wilde drinken. Na afloop word er gevraagd of wij nog een dessert of koffie willen. Na een half uur word de kaart gebracht. Vervolgens komt er geen bediening meer voor het opnemen van de bestelling. Ook de tafel werd nauwelijks tot niet afgeruimd.

Top gegeten, heerlijke Bavette en een fantastische borrelplank vooraf!!
