What a wonderful experience! The service was friendly and attentive, just what you'd expect when dining out. The food was exceptionally delicious: dishes you wouldn't normally make yourself, but without unnecessary fuss – pure and well-prepared. They also took personal preferences into account, including what you can't or don't want to eat. A highlight was the cheese board, which came with a surprisingly delicious piece of Frisian pudding bread. When the chef heard us talking about it, he spontaneously wrote down the recipe for us. What a pleasant and personal surprise! Overall, highly recommended. We will definitely be back!

Great atmosphere, great staff, but the food is what you come for! We honestly don't understand why this restaurant has a 4.6 rating. We found the food to be of very poor quality. Unfortunately, the chef couldn't deliver mouthwatering flavor. And that for such a high price! You'd expect that. We regularly eat at similar restaurants in the area. Very strange combinations that don't work together at all. There are definitely better restaurants where you can get much better food for the same price. But perhaps the chef was having an off day, given the high ratings from other guests who are positive. That's certainly possible. Or maybe we've become too picky lately.

Excellent restaurant with friendly owners. Surprising menu. Always incredibly delicious. And lunch is also highly recommended. Plenty of choice and delicious.

The selection alone is exciting: a surprise menu. We opted for five courses. And you can order matching wines (or a non-alcoholic version). To start, you get three appetizers with the aperitif. And these were a sign of things to come, as they were incredibly delicious. The dishes then follow in quick succession. And with each dish, you get an explanation of what you're getting. Very interesting. Flounder with fennel. Mackerel with a clarified butter sauce and curry. Even the third, daring and especially successful choice: serving beef stew topped with a piece of fish. Delicious! We were also given both a white and a red wine with that dish. A great idea! For the main course, we had duck breast fillet with polenta and corn. And before dessert, we were given the opportunity to try an assortment of cheeses. A delicious combination of three Dutch cheeses: a brie de meaux and a Shropshire with a 20-year-old port. And then dessert: apple balls with caramel ice cream. From start to finish, it was superbly flavorful and beautifully combined. And then there was the wine pairing. ❤️ My goodness, that was truly incredible. Super tasty wines on their own, but also perfectly matched to every dish. We tasted French, Italian, Spanish, South African, and Argentinian wines. A world trip in itself 😉 And all this thanks to a single chef who served the entire restaurant smoothly and without any stress. And then we must also mention the super friendly staff. A very pleasant experience in a beautiful and atmospheric setting. Too bad it's so far from Belgium, but we will definitely be back! A chance discovery, but a fantastic experience.

Had a nice lunch with a business relation this week and last Friday I had a drink on the terrace with my daughter. Nice Brouwdok Weizen, an iced tea and a nacho dish. Nice lounge music in the background. Great to be here on the terrace!!

Beautiful cafe by the water. Friendly, fast service. English spoken. One of the nicest cafes in Drachten.

Travelled from Groningen to Drachten to confirm the assessment of Thús (avg. 4.6). Not disappointed; Hylke prepares tasty courses with a lot of imagination. Not à la carte, but a surprise menu, choice of number of courses (4, 5, 6 or 7), where diets and/or other preferences can be taken into account. For dessert we could choose (without surcharge, where do you find that?) a great cheese board. Matching wines (also half glasses) and alcohol-free arrangement (self-composed juices) are carefully matched to the different courses. The beer arrangement is probably also great, but the four of us did not taste it. An extra reason to come back ;-) The service was pleasantly informal and knowledgeable. Too bad it was so quiet on a Thursday afternoon (shopping evening in Drachten); Thús deserves full tables!

So nice and tasty all those surprise dishes. Good quality and the wine nicely matched. Also the amuse beforehand make it a real experience evening.

Here are both positive and negative impressions. They certainly do their best, but the dishes are just too small and insufficiently refined in relation to price and quality. For example, our main course of pork fillet was overcooked and no longer pink. The wine and beers were ok, but we noticed some uncertainty and lack of finesse in the service. Only 10 people present on Saturday evening makes us suspect that there is still some growth potential. If you want to maintain the gastronomic concept, some more refinement and growth will be necessary, but this is certainly not impossible. Tip: replace the dried branches and flowers in the pot on the right-hand platform when you enter with beautiful artificial flowers.

Fantastic ambiance, nice surprise menu, great cheese board, top beer package. With thus, you feel...er thus. Great that this is in Drachten.

We went in on Aug 16 with friends. It was very rainy and windy so there were not too many people there. The waitress was delightful and we decided on the 3 course surprise menu. She asked about any dietary restrictions, allergies etc. since I don’t eat meat or garlic, my meal was different than the others. Turns out 3 course doesn’t include all the in between bites that were brought to our table as well -all for the price of the three course. My husband loved the duck dish and everything we had was amazing! The chef, Hylke, came to our table at the end of our meal and we had a wonderful conversation. If we go back to Friesland, it will definitely require another visit to Thús

Thought it was a restaurant, but was very surprised, but it turns out to also be a clothing store😲👍 what a nice concept👍highly recommended, there is also white sand on the terrace by the canal, great

The food is delicious. Fresh, surprising, original, refined and you can also see from the interior that professionals are at work here. The reason we give 3 stars instead of 5 is that we had to pay €80 for 2 discount menus with 2 teas. If you have all the time and want 5,6,7 courses, this is an excellent, great choice. For a quick, healthy, fresh meal in 1-1.5 hours, our experience is slightly different. It may be better to indicate when booking by telephone that this is not the target group or to offer another option.

What a great evening we had! And then on to a 7-course menu with matching wines. The food was delicious and the wines matched the dishes perfectly. Super friendly hostess and wait staff. We really had a great evening and will come again soon.

Delicious fresh pulled chicken bread and the toasties were also good. For lunch dishes, I thought the food was quite expensive. Price of drinks was correct. I found the service (on King's Day) a bit awkward. We were close to the exit and it was a noisy place - people walked past a lot. The interior is attractive, but it is not spacious.

Finally had dinner at Thús! Been curious since 2019, but kept postponed due to kids and later corona. Now, after 12.7 years together with my other half (anniversary), I took her for a 5-course dinner with wine arrangement. What an experience, 3.5 hours of enjoying what awaited us. Hylke's dishes took us through a "trip down memory lane". With all due respect, Thús gives you a culinary experience that goes beyond a place like Drachten. One of the few chefs who dares to offer vegetarian dishes without involving goat's cheese. You have no choice (so no stress) and with that kind of self-confidence and conviction, every dish on the menu is made with a passion for culinary craftsmanship. The love for the "forgotten ingredients" with the interesting combinations of well-known flavors fulfills the role of the Thús concept at a high level. Indicate your essential culinary parameters and Hylke will be fine. The wine arrangement is a fantastic addition and makes it a complete experience. In my opinion, superlatives fall short. The service was superb. Very friendly and the dishes as well as the wines were served with good knowledge. No photo available for this review due to seasonal dishes and the surprise effect.

Thus surprise bread. Looks good and tasteful. The decor of the restaurant is attractive. Highly recommended to eat here with a group of four or more people.

Had lunch here for the second time yesterday. Again excellent. It's nice that there is a menu with dishes that you don't find everywhere and that are also of good quality. Top tent with excellent service. Keep it up....

Lekker eten, leuke bediening. Met enige regelmaat kom ik hier te lunchen en ik ben altijd zeer tevreden over de kwaliteit en de service.

Was leuke ervaring als personeels uitje. Aardige personeel leggen het gerechtje uit en hebben wijn, bier en alcohol vrij arrangement. Was niet gedwongen alles was lekker chill netzoals de naam zegt (thus). Dus voel je lekker thuis. Ik vond zelf dat de gerechtjes wat klein waren daarom geen 5 sterren op het eten. Heerlijk gegeten! Verfijnd 6 gangen menu met super lekkere wijnen en hartelijke bediening.

Relaxte, rustige sfeer, met persoonlijke aandacht van de kok, en bijzonder smaakvol eten. Niet goedkoop, maar als je culinair uit eten wilt dan moet je hier zeker een keer naar toe! En waarschijnlijk blijft het dan niet bij één keer 😉

Ons laten verrassen door het valentijnsmenu. Heerlijk gegeten, zeer gastvrij en fijne bediening, met mooie uitleg. Lekkerrrrr…

Wij kozen voor de combinatie lunch en dat bleek een goede keuze te zijn want de soep was héérlijk, de sandwich erg smakelijk alhoewel de portie ossenworst wel wat royaler had gekund want 4 dunne plakjes op een XL snee brood is wat aan de magere kant. De losse sandwiches op de kaart, gemiddeld €12,50, zijn in onze ogen zwaar overprized. Voor een snee brood met beleg is €7,50/8,50 meer dan genoeg. De gastvrouw was erg vriendelijk.

Zelden zo vriendelijk ontvangen. Prima lunch genoten, drie personen runnen de zaak: chapeau!

Wij aten lekker met een explosie van verschillende smaken op onze borden. Verrassende creaties, mooi opgedragen. Erg vriendelijke service, je voelt je welkom en gezien. Leuke en sfeervolle kerstambiente - een aanrader.

Het was gewoon goed! We hadden een lunch met vriendinnen. Soep en broodjes. De mosterd soep voor mij geen succes vanwege de rauwe smaak van de bos ui dat was geen fijne combinatie Lekkere broodjes met heerlijke vulling. En de wijnen waren zeer goed. En De toiletten waren schoon en fris. daar kijk ik altijd naar als ik na een restaurant ga. Heel fijn dus

Naast het overheerliijke verrassingsmenu was de plek zelf ook een aangename verrassing. Het voelde echt als thús, alhoewel ik thuis nooit zo'n kok in de keuken heb staan😉 We hadden het 6 gangen verrassingsmenu en kozen voor vegetarisch. Het was voor mij een eerste complete vegetarische maaltijd, maar heb echt geen moment het vlees gemist. Wát ontzettend smaakvol allemaal en zo prachtig opgediend! Elk gerecht was een feestje! Complimenten voor het hele team. Hier kom ik dan ook zeker terug! 🍽

Top restaurant met zeer sympathieke bediening, verrassende en erg lekkere gerechten, goed wijnarrangement en uitstekende prijs kwaliteit verhouding. Ook leuk ingericht en terras aan t water. Kortom, hier komen we terug.
