Warung Jawa in Centrum

I don't understand why this place still exists, service is worthless, no attention for the customers, we know us so you can just go first even if there is a long line, if you eat there you have to pick up your food at the counter yourself. If you say something about this you will get a big mouth back, it worked for me because I treat them exactly the way they treat me. I understand that people in Groningen do not have a choice between different Javanese businesses compared to the Randstad, but as an old Groninger I know that this is the mentality of warung Java, hospitality, friendliness or having a nice chat is not possible, this is what they call BIGI FASSIE or PRIVATE. Summary is that the food is tasty, but the people who work/are present there should still take a CUSTOMER FRIENDLY course and if not, contact me and I will teach you how to do it!!!

I've been coming here for years, but the service has simply become bad. The man who now answers the telephone and orders here is simply brutal. They just hang up in your ear after an order and 9/10 my order is also wrong! From today on, NEVER AGAIN JAWA!👋

To my great surprise…!! Came here regularly to eat. Because it is always super tasty. Thought I would treat myself to pick something up today. There were a few people waiting in front of the Bali, so I thought it was normal to do the same. A boy walked in, put his bag in the restaurant and walked to the counter with his phone in his hands, not looking around to see if it was his turn or not. A little later someone from the waiter came and looked at the boy and asked what he wanted to order. I then said it was my turn. All kinds of apologies from that boy. Also tried to explain to him that when he was busy with his phone in his hands, he didn't get "everything". To my great surprise, the clerk completely ignored me and she continued with the order because he was (literally speaking) a regular customer. I told the clerk (girl) that you cannot deal with customers like that. Regular or not a regular customer, you must treat your customers with decency and respect. Fortunately, the owner arrived to take my order properly. I wonder if you should keep such staff, especially if you also give customers their orders and forget to let them pay!!

I'm obsessed with this restaurant the chicken soup is incredible.

We didn't even get around to eating. If you order more than an hour and a half in advance, you will get there…. You are completely ignored and they still have to prepare everything for the at least 10(!) people in front of you who are also picking up. After waiting 35 minutes I left. Unfortunately, because the food seems to be tasty.

I've been coming here since I was a child with my Surinamese stepfather... so many nice memories of that time. Drive from Leeuwarden to Groningen for this delicious food that they prepare here. Now, 30 years later, I occasionally come here to enjoy myself and remind myself of those good times of the past... last year I had treatment for thyroid cancer where I was allowed to eat almost nothing for 3 weeks and had to be in the hospital for 5 days and a strict follow a diet. When I was allowed to go outside again and eat everything again, I immediately went here to eat and enjoy. It's a pleasure every time! Thank you for everything, hopefully you will remain open for the next 30 years!

The food is delicious, will definitely come again But staff could be friendlier Especially the gentleman, when you place your order by telephone, he is not exactly friendly and very short and doesn't even say goodbye but just hangs up the phone. This could be a bit neater

Until a few years ago I lived in Amsterdam from birth, I always got my Rice Moksi at Kame Yin (Warmoestraat), I have now had several businesses in Groningen but was always a disappointment, until I entered Warung Jawa, I knew Immediately that this is going to be it, and yes, a really delicious moksi!!!!!!

Since new people have taken over, the food is no longer tasty! Miss the old owners, food was much tastier!!

We ordered soto ayam & sate. The rice portion was huge! Both taste really goodddd. At first we weren’t sure when looking from the outside, but glad we decided to try. Definitely recommended ⭐️

We had the pleasure of experiencing the culinary delights of a Surinamese restaurant at our symposium for lunch. The food was of exceptional quality, bursting with flavors that delighted our taste buds and left everyone thoroughly impressed. We highly recommend this establishment for its amazing food and excellent value for money!

I had no clue what to order, so the chef helped us and we got a big bowl of brown rice with a delicious stewed beef. Good place for a quick lunch or for take-away.

Erg lekkere broodjes, goede saoto en roti. Ik vind alleen dat de tjaumin en nasi een beetje weinig gevuld zijn met groentes. Het is voornamelijk soja en de bami en nasi zelf. Maar de saoto en de broodjes met zuurgoed en peper zijn echt een aanrader.

This place was acceptable and not so bad as it looked like from the first glance. We ordered some rice with beef, and the beef was well done cooked properly with some cabbage and beans. The rice was average like made in a rice cooker and the portion was big. Overall, nice to try this place, but not the best to have in the city.

Echt by far de lekkerste roti van Groningen. Heb bijna alle aanbieders geprobeerd, maar deze steekt er mijlenver bovenuit.

We went to this place because our original restaurant was closed. This restaurant is halal. However it took so long for the food to come even though we were their only customers. I wouldn't revisit this place, but I do appreciate the halal food. The food was also not to my liking, but my friend's good was decent enough.

Taste was good. But for the price the taste was not good enough for the Soto, portion was also a bit disappointing. But generally speaking it was satisfactory.

Eten was lekker al had iets meer groente niet verkeerd geweest. Duurde alleen wel twee keer zolang als het half uur dat werd aangegeven.

Een pareltje in Zuiderdiep. Recht voor je raap Surinaamse en Indonische kost waar je graag voor terugkomt!

Erg lekkere Surinaamse keuken.Kom er vaak.Vooral de kerrie-kip en saté maaltijden zeer smakelijk.Ga zo door!

Eten is echt fantastisch, kom er al een jaar lang elke week een lekker gerecht halen , is echt een aanrader ! Van te voren even je bestelling telefonisch doorgeven.

Eten prima.Vervelend dat wij 1 uur lang op onze bestelling moesten wachten. Naderhand werd ons gezegd dat wij beter telefonisch konden bestellen en dan een tijd afspreken.HAD DIT METEEN GEZEGD.

The fried rice with cabbage and chicken was incredible, and came with this amazing hot sauce.

Vraag om geen kool, toch kool gekregen. Qua smaak ook niet bijzonder. Wel genoeg en prijs is ok.
