XO Winebar in Wijk 11 Venlo-Centrum

Unsure why there are any bad reviews about this place. Amazing food, cocktails, service and atmosphere. Must go to restaurant in Venlo. And the view is amazing.

Unfortunately, only 2 stars. Food is good, drinks are good. WARNING!!!! Be careful if you want a package at the wine bar and you think it's the high wine (the only package at XO Winebar!!). You might end up paying around €30 more per person for a package from Lanterna. This is apparently quite normal for them; we spent €75 total per person, which in my opinion should have been €45. I've often enjoyed eating at Lanterna (note, not XO Winebar). But this will be the last time for us, with both names. Especially after the, in my opinion, annoying Facebook communication. 👍. Not even because of the exorbitantly high bill.

This is my first Google review of a restaurant, but unfortunately, it's also a particularly bad one. I would NEVER go here again as a group. There were 13 of us. We made reservations six weeks in advance. We were given tables that were too small and too few chairs. We almost sat on each other's laps. We arrived at 8 PM, well after the Dutch dinner hour. That's when you're hungry... Unfortunately, we didn't get anything to eat until 45 minutes later (after asking several times when our food would arrive and indicating we were hungry). We had the wine pairing and had to keep asking for drinks. The menu we ordered was supposed to be enough for everyone, as the restaurant had advised. No, it wasn't. We had to order our own food. The prices were also ridiculous: €6.25 for bread and €6.50 for water. 😅😅 We left a bill of over €600, but it really wasn't worth it. I'm glad we were with a nice and sociable group. That made the evening nice 😁😁

Enjoy high wine at XO Winebar, a cozy location with delicious food. Every wine is paired with a dish. Each bottle comes with a short explanation about the winery and how it's made. A must-try for wine lovers.
