Yesterday we went to eat at Roshni Mahal, but unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. Upon entering, we immediately saw that the focus here is mainly on eating quickly and leaving. No one came to us to ask where we wanted to sit or to welcome us. Even though we had reserved a table, we sat there for 20 minutes without anyone coming to ask what we wanted to drink. There was absolutely no guidance, and no one explained how things worked or what the rules were. There was only one waiter walking around who had to run in all directions. It was clear that she was far too busy. The owner sat there without a smile and was very grumpy. He only walked back and forth to process bills. Customer friendliness was nowhere to be found with him. In the end, we had to call the wait staff ourselves to order drinks and ended up going to get our food ourselves. The table where you pick up the food was very messy. Lids from the chafing dishes were scattered everywhere. A lot of food was gone and was barely replenished, which took a very long time. The quality of the food was also poor: the pakora was cold and hard and tasteless, and the rice was dried out and inedible. Additionally, there were no labels with the food anywhere, so you don't know what you are putting on your plate. This is very inconvenient for people unfamiliar with the dishes. During our entire visit, no one came by to ask if everything was to our liking. We were gone again within 40 minutes. There was little choice for children, which was also disappointing. Furthermore, the restaurant was very stuffy and the ventilation was poor. We came out with a strong curry smell on our clothes, and it even gave me a headache. The hygiene was also very poor. The cutlery was dirty, and the containers they were kept in were full of crumbs and dirt. On top of that, they charge a lot of money per person for what they serve, which makes it even more disappointing. You have very little choice. It is truly ridiculous that there is only one waiter working in the service. The owner seems to care only about money and not at all about his customers; he radiates that as well. I even felt sorry for the waitress and would advise her to go work somewhere else, because there are plenty of places where staff are treated well. We are never going here again. They didn't even ask if everything was to our liking. Bad, bad, bad; a bad experience in every respect.

The service is incredible! And the food is a Pakistani specialty! There's also a small prayer area for Muslims wishing to perform their obligatory prayers. The atmosphere is extraordinary!

The restaurant was fabulous, the menu was delicious and, what's more, halal, and the staff were very welcoming and warm. I was also able to perform my prayers in peace and quiet, alhamdulillah.

Worst buffet I ever had with around 10 to 12 dishes. Which were very oily. Found a female hair in kofta dish and all the food was really bad in taste. A waiter came to collect food and had audacity to go and complain to the manager that we are wasting food where it was the same plate from which hair was found and was complained about and then the same manager who came on table for the complain came to tell off not to waste food where he was the food who said someone will come to collect that plate. Don’t go here 25€ for buffet plus 7€ for naan bread and 3€ for drink Horrible

Small Indian food buffet for a reasonable price. We really enjoyed the chicken and the desserts. Old school decorations, just as we know it from years ago.

We ate here for the first time on Wednesday, February 25th. The food is fine; you can choose between a buffet or à la carte. Additionally, you can rent a room upstairs for a small party (50 people). Just to be clear, no alcohol is served here. The owner is a friendly man.

A cozy, old-fashioned restaurant with a delicious buffet. Naan bread is definitely recommended; the dishes are delicious and slightly spicy. Fantastic service, explaining everything. The interior is a bit dated, but if you look past that, the hospitality more than makes up for it.

I went here for the first time last Wednesday. It was a celebration for a colleague's birthday. I thought it was a great experience. I'd never had Indian food before, and it was delicious. The sweet naan bread was especially delicious. Not spicy, but if it was, there was sambal or something to make it spicy. It was a buffet, so I tried everything. The owner (?) also walked around and explained everything. The food was fantastic.

Enjoyed the food alot! Been there at least once a year for 10 years or more... The atmosphere has definitely improved since the coronaperiode and the service is calm and good. My food satisfaction is 5 stars. Ofcourse you will probably experienced better somewhere or homemade but here, you will know what to expect and after so many times for me it is a comfort. Be sure to reserve for the Fridays and Saturdays.

It was fine, not horrible overall. Food is decent, it's not great, but passable. The buffet was so small I'm not sure if it can be called a buffet. Took an hour or more to settle the bill, taking no account of how people might have other engagements. At the end the bill was only settled, after two people from our group went to them to add up the bill themselves, so we, the customers settled our own bill. It was really hot in the restaurant, but otherwise okay.

Everything was fantastic! I've tried so many dishes and they were all delicious. I don't usually tolerate spicy food well, but I have to say I ate a lot and didn't find anything too spicy, or at least not excessively so. The chef, or the man wearing an apron who served the food, came to ask how everything was; he was incredibly friendly. And considering you can have as much as you want and that we're in the Netherlands, the price isn't too bad. I give it 5 stars!

The buffet is an amazing deal for all the delicious and authentic food you can get. But they didn't mention that the naan was extra (they initially told me that it was included in the buffet price).

We've been coming here for over 20 years, and the food is and always will be delicious! Yesterday I celebrated my birthday here with a large group; the owner and staff were incredibly well-organized!

After a few years, I visited this restaurant again. Everything is still the same: the decor, the service, and the food. We thoroughly enjoyed the buffet, especially the lamb—my favorite—and the fried appetizers. And the dessert was delicious; everything was well seasoned. Friendly staff.

I have high expectations at an Indian restaurant. But this open buffet restaurant absolutely does not live up to them. Food bad. (Chicken tikka masala is severely substandard, chicken is not tender, sauce is not tasty, chicken flavor is very prominent, simply not Indian. Spinach downright disgusting. Fish looked like it was thrown into the oven straight from the freezer. Rice was good. Naan costs extra. Lassie was good. Dessert was canned peach and 2 types of pudding that tasted okay.) Service worse. (The lady looked intimidating when we couldn't finish one plate of nasty food; we didn't feel welcome.) Atmosphere poor. (Heavy food smell as if cooking took place in an apartment without ventilation, 80s interior, menu from 3 years ago with old prices) 2 people. Even in the mountains of Peru, the jungles of Brazil, and near the safari of South Africa, the Indian restaurants were many times better.

Food was delicious staff friendly really worth the money to go there.

My husband used to eat here with friends years ago. He wanted to go there again with me and our daughter. Nothing has changed in 10 years, only the price. From 16.50 euros back then to 24.50 euros now. We spent 95 euros for 3 people including drinks. I think I can eat more relaxed somewhere else. By the way, you still pay separately for naan bread. From the buffet I like the red pieces of chicken and rice the best.

The food here is really good. It's been 7 years since I last ate here. The interior is a bit older and so is the facade of the restaurant. But don't let that put you off. Chef is nice and he can cook really well. Lots of flavors and spicy.

Visited unplanned last Saturday. Called first to see if there was room. There was. So far great. When we got there we saw that the buffet, in terms of meat, was almost empty. It replenished marginally after a while. Probably because, unlike previous visits, it was quite empty. There was a vegetable dish that smelled strange, almost spoiled. We discreetly indicated this to the waitress. He said he would pass it on but heard nothing further. When the owner walked by we spoke to him. He dismissed it with: "Everything is freshly made. Just enjoy." Was a bit of a shame. We were deliberately very discreet. We didn't want any further compensation or anything. It was purely for information so that he could possibly do something to safeguard the good name of his business. That's all. I must immediately add that we have been coming there for years and have even celebrated birthdays, even recently. It has always been fine otherwise. So probably an off day. Can happen. I will definitely go back again.

I have to say that they offer an open buffet but the day we were there the service was bizarrely bad. Understandable if you have 2 sick people as waiters. We went to get the drinks ourselves. The food was gone and it took a while before it was refilled. Tasty dishes though. You are full at the end of the day

Delicious and authentic Pakistani dishes! The buffet offered a wide choice of varied and tasty dishes, from perfectly spiced curries to freshly baked naan and succulent tandoori dishes. The quality of the food was excellent and everything was at the right temperature. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was cozy and welcoming. This is highly recommended for lovers of Pakistani cuisine. I will definitely come back here!

The service is really bad. Only half of our drink order was delivered. The rest was given after repeated requests. If you don't want to eat a buffet, you will be looked at askance. We wanted to order food from the menu and then eight of us were given a menu. After asking, we got a second one. I ended up taking the buffet and that was fine. The mango lassi was also delicious.

We found drinks very expensive, a bottle of water was already 8 euros.

It was a different cultural experience for me. The food was Pakistani-Indian style, you put it on your own plate, it was good and not bad. But I can't eat too spicy, I feel nauseous immediately, if that's the case for you too, it's best to take as much as you can. The service of the waiters was good, the toilets were clean.

We have eaten here for the third time now and we keep coming back! They are super friendly here and still manage to surprise us with new delicious dishes. The owner knows well what people want and is very friendly. Definitely recommended 😊

I had dinner here with the family. I just got home and almost all of us have vomiting and stomach pain afterwards!!!. This is really NOT recommended. Food just wasn't good. I have eaten at many places but I have never experienced this. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Food is okay but very mediocre in comparison to other Indian restaurants I’ve been to, especially if you consider the price of 25€ for the buffet. On top o f that my experience was really weird as the older guy in the restaurant was initially extremely nice and at the end of the meal was purposefully ignoring our requests for water (?!) and staring us down in a menacing way haha very weird

It is no longer what it used to be, but still worth your money, just because of Mr Khan. Food is still good, service is a bit disappointing and the atmosphere is still less than the old setting and interior.

Been a customer here for years and it keeps getting worse. After a long time, we decided to pick up food this time instead of a buffet. And never had such bad food. Gentleman claims that in 30 years no one has ever returned with the food and pretended that we were taking advantage. Well, when I read the reviews I'm not the only one with a complaint. Food is tasty, but I think the atmosphere is a bit mehhh. I understand that it is part of the culture, but I would find it much more attractive to eat there if it looked a bit more modern. It would really turn me off if I walked past it and looked inside. Service is also nice, you get good help.

The atmosphere of the place was good, no doubt about it. Food : There was only 1 starter chicken tandoori which was all color and little taste, and this was hardly being replenished in a timely manner, probably this was consumed more. All the other dishes had a lot of oil, which literally is unhealthy. There was one more chicken dish which was pitch red in color. Being a great restaurant and compared to the items provided in other restaurants serving buffet, there was no Biryani, there was no roti. In fact both these are to be purchased additionally. Mango lassi is more like mango milk shake (additional cost) The only dessert which I loved was Kheer. It's not worth the money spent though....

One of the better Indian/Pakistani restaurants in the Rotterdam/The Hague region. They have a very tasty specialty, Chicken Tikka Massala if you like sweet/savory!

I always order takeaway here and it's consistently delicious. These guys really know how to cook great Indian food. The Chicken Jalfrezi is to die for! Brilliant. Love the place, eating in at the buffet is also wonderful!

Al een tijdje niet meer geweest aan deze kant van Rotterdam, goed opgeknapt en zit vol leuke zaakjes en ook savonds een goede sfeer. - Het buffet is goed authentieke smaken. de condimenten bar kan wel netter en duidelijker. Ook de toetjes waren wat simpel en oogde niet appetijtelijk. - Service, de eigenaar is allert en vraagt regelmatig hoe het smaakt en of er nog behoefte is aan een drankje, overige personeel is niet zo oplettend / attent. - Sfeer, zaakje is donker en er is niet echt een ontvangst ruimte. Maar de muur is kleurrijk aangekleed en het meubilair heeft iets van een streetfood restaurant. Er heerst een gemoedelijkheid stoeltjes en plaatsen wisselen gaat met gemak. Ook leuk dat het publiek zeer divers is.

Allerbeste Indiase restaurant van heel Nederland. Niet te vergelijken met andere restaurants. Woon inmiddels in Amsterdam, maar kom er nog steeds voor terug. Kom er al vanaf de eerste opening. Nu 20+ jaren later zijn mijn kinderen er ook stapelgek op, willen er zelfs voor hun verjaardag naar toe. Kortom: fantastisch met liefde bereid eten.

Buffet stijl, volop keus en altijd goed bijgevuld. Tandoori is een aanrader! Bediening is vriendelijk en snel, eigenaar is erg attent.

Het eten was redelijk tot goed van smaak! En werd met grote regelmaat bijgevuld! Het restaurant op zich, is gedateerd en een beetje smoezelig. Ben alleen niet zo weg van het all u can eat concept! Maar dat is iets persoonlijks. De bediening was wel heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam!

Onze eerste keus voor Indiaas buffet al 15 jaar. Genoeg keus aan kip, lamps, vis en vegetarische gerechten. Prima prijs kwaliteit. Ook als carte mogelijk. De Tikka masala is wat zoet. Probeer ook de mango lassi en de kheer als toetje. Enig min puntje wat ik kan bedenken is dat de laatste jaren de prijs van 14,50 pp naar 23,50 pp is gegaan maar dat is eigenlijk overal omhoog gegaan. Kinderen t/m 9 jaar voor de helft van de prijs.

We sluiten een bezoek aan Rotterdam altijd af met een buffet bij Zainab Roshni.

Egt heerlijk all you can eat restaurant.

Prima eten, veel keuze. Alleen vind ik het heel vreemd dat wanneer ik hier kom eten met een grote groep en we willen betalen er dan altijd een pin storing is! Dit is echt altijd het geval. Dat maakt dat je geïrriteerd bent en niet lekker de zaak uitloopt. Ik kan me namelijk niet voorstellen dat er altijd een pin storing is. Als je het geld contant wil zeg het dan! Maar laat mij niet eerst 4 x voor de gek houden en dan moet ik naar de ah lopen om 400 euro te pinnen. Dit maakt dat ik een volgende x ook niet meer kom eten met een grote groep, of überhaupt nadenk of ik hier wil eten op deze manier. Jammer!

Lekker eten, mag wel wat meer variatie wat mij betreft. Verder is iedereen vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Eten is de laaste tijd minder goed gewoorden, maar blijf toch een goed restaurant.
