A lovely historic building with a lot of character, although in our opinion the interior could use a refresh or restyling. The service was very friendly, attentive, and hospitable, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant. Unfortunately, the food did not quite meet our expectations. The bread rolls with herb butter served beforehand were not fresh and were baked too hard. They were cold, dry, and difficult to cut open. We also found the mussels to be small and quite tasteless, and the accompanying sauces did not really appeal to us. We are used to better. The beef tenderloin, on the other hand, was very tasty: beautifully cooked and served with tasty vegetables. However, we found the portion of vegetables to be on the small side and missed some gravy, which would have made the dish a bit more succulent. Also, in our opinion, there was too little fries served. We therefore immediately asked for an extra portion, partly because serving the dishes took quite a long time, even though we were the first to arrive at the restaurant. All in all, it was not a bad experience, but for us, this restaurant is not worth a return visit. Of course, this is merely our personal opinion and based on our own experience.

An incredibly beautiful old building with sweet, friendly, and enthusiastic staff. The restaurant's decor is a bit dated. The tables and chairs could use an update to do justice to the interior of this beautiful building. But hey, that is just my opinion, of course.

A super nice little restaurant. We stumbled upon it on our way there. Despite the limited menu, as they also offered an extensive brunch, there was plenty of choice, and we had a delicious lunch. They listen to the customer's wishes and the service is very friendly.

+ Friendly service - Absurd prices For a meat skewer with pepper sauce, a handful of fries, and one and a half vegetables, you pay €35.50. Tournedos with mushroom sauce: €38.50. These prices are expected in a higher-end restaurant, where everything is meticulously prepared—not a simple village/home restaurant like 1633.

We had a wonderful meal and were surprised by the extensive menu, featuring both traditional and surprising recipes. The quality was excellent, and the pumpkin soup from their own garden was delicious! The service was excellent; we were regularly asked if everything was alright, if the main course could be served, and they were attentive to our daughter's needs with a fun, authentic menu, ice cream she could choose from, and a small gift to accompany her meal. The beers were delicious and there were so many other tasty treats that we will definitely be back!

A special and delicious lunch at restaurant 1633. With an extensive beautiful menu. We had two '12-uurtjes op z'n 1633 st'. Served on a beautiful rack of 3 plates a tapas choice of small tasty lunch dishes. We had Op z' Zeeuws and Just Cheese. Seemed like tapas. Tasted delicious. And when ordering, changes could also be made. And the quantity was also sufficient. Friendly, personal service in a beautiful building with an eye for detail. Also play facilities for young children. And a nice terrace outside. Very impressed with the whole. We will go back here!

Mijn vriendin en ik hebben genoten van een geweldige avond bij Restaurant 1633 in het historische stadhuis van Halsteren. De knusse sfeer was perfect. Ik had de Rib-eye, die heerlijk was, en mijn vriendin de sukade, die ook uitstekend smaakte. Echt een aanrader voor een gezellig avondje uit!

We didn't really eat it warm, which is what we want to do next time. But the apple strudel and ginger tea were excellent, as were the apple pie and Baylies coffee. Service was super nice.

On October 12, 2024 we celebrated our wedding all day at 1633. For us, it is truly the best location imaginable for a fully catered party. From front to back, everything was absolutely right. The owner took care of everything completely. With his team they ensure that you lack nothing. We ate, drank, danced and enjoyed ourselves with +- 70 people! If you are looking for a party location where you can do everything in one place, don't hesitate. This location is perfect.

It's a great pity that people were completely unprepared for the crowds during the fair (Sunday). It took a very long time before we were helped (and yes, I have a lot of patience). Choose and order something: gone. Then just another choice: op. After two cappuccinos (fortunately they had that) we quickly paid and left.

This location exudes the beautiful past, hospitality and offers an affordable menu.

A quick lunch with the whole family. Fast and friendly service. I had a very tasty omelette 1633: well filled and well cooked: smooth and not dry, and I think that was a nice trick considering the size, filling and thickness of the omelette. The twelve hours looked neat and tasted good. A special mention for the fish soup: clear, spicy and well filled. We would love to come back again.

Menu is not large, but the food was delicious. You can sit both inside and outside. Staff are friendly. We should have been asked more often if we wanted something to drink, but otherwise everything was to our liking. Lunch is also delicious here.

Just enjoyed a cup of coffee on the terrace here. Restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Terrace is not very special with a main road along it. Didn't eat anything so I can't say much about that. Staff was friendly and came by themselves with a bowl of water for the dog. Very sweet.

A beautiful building in Halsteren houses 1633, which is also the year of birth of the building. Once the Town Hall and now an establishment to eat and drink. Smooth service and after a quick look the choice fell on a Surinamese chicken sandwich. The plate was filled with a kind of primal bread, well filled. The bread neutralized the taste of the meat, which was slightly overcooked and, in my opinion, too salty. 4 stars is too many, a 7- is a detailed average, but the ambiance is (inside) a reason to go back.

Drank and went again. Atmosphere relaxed, relaxed and with attention to the fans!!! Indoor diners... for the fifth star I would happily go back here to eat.

Beautiful building where it was wonderful to have a nice lunch on the terrace. The soup was very richly filled with fish but lacked some flavor, the sandwich with scampi, on the other hand, was delicious.

No good evening upon arrival, 3 staff members look at you with grandmother of almost 87 without politely guiding you to the table, even though we had called and reserved in advance, 2 menu cards for 4 people, and 1 small basket of fries for 4 people . The food (diamond tenderloin) was very tasty, good beers, unfortunately the service was much less welcoming than you might expect. Hence the low figure. No repeat for us.

Not really bad, but certainly not special either. A little more vegetables would be nice.

Cozy atmosphere and friendly service that works quickly.

This small but cozy tent has been around for 5 years. I ordered a diamond tenderloin rare fried with pepper sauce, it tasted just fine. Plus a Syrah red wine, also an excellent house wine. The service was nice and informal and friendly. At the time of our presence there was a large group of children and due to their noise we had some difficulty hearing each other. The second time was again to your liking. This time I drank the primitivo with the diamond hare and it goes very well with it.

Heerlijk gegeten en gedronken. Keuze is niet uitgebreid maar genoeg te kiezen. Zaterdagavond met een vol huis waarvan 2 grote groepen en het eten was op tijd, warm en met een lach geserveerd.

Old fashioned atmosphere is nice. The food is out of date. Lots of meat and nothing vegan. The climate crisis also affects the children from Halsteren! Let's just stick to a drink then.

Waren vriendelijk. Niet duur. Leuk voor de lunch. De zaak ziet er sober uit. Wel gezellig. We gaan er zeker nog een keer langs.

Leuk terras bij historisch oud gemeentehuisje in Halsteren-Centrum.

Eten was zeer verzorgd en de bediening was geweldig leuk en ongedwongen

schitterend middeleeuws pand met dito inrichting. Veel verschillende soorten bier op de tap en de fles. prima gegeten, bomvol.naar huis gegaan.

Heerlijk broodje geitenkaas gegeten! Vriendelijke bediening mooi terras! Mooie bloemen op het terras!

Hier ben je altijd welkom. Verschillende bier soorten van de tap verkrijgbaar. En voor de lekkere trek maar genoeg keus voor een lunch of diner.

Wat een leuk restaurant! Voor het eerst hier gegeten, zoner verwachtingen gereserveerd. Bleek een goede keuze! Zoontje van 3 meer dan welkom, personeel zeer attent naar iedereen. Binnen hangt een goede sfeer. Het eten zelf was erg lekker, borden netjes opgemaakt en de hoeveelheid prima. Prijzen lager dan gemiddeld. Naast de (toch al leuke) menukaart had de chef ook niet-alledaagse dingen om te eten, waaronder als voorgerecht mini inktvissen uit de oven. Absoluut tot de volgende keer!

Onze paella ging de mist in maar de compensatie was oké. Ook de rest van de maaltijd was prima!

Beter een kok aannemen.. twee hoofdgerechten besteld voor mezelf beide totaal verkeerd bereid. De eerste was garnalen uit de oven met Chilisaus zeer taai het leek wel rubber. Tweede gerecht was Sate en ook die was alles behalve mals nog niet over de satesaus gesproken!Carpaccio zo van de' Sligro' op je bord matig allemaal. Waren zo weer weg en komen daar ook niet nog eens. Eten behoort volgens mij een beleving te zijn , Sorry 1633 dat was het niet.

Wel een leuk restaurantje, ziet er van de buitenkant erg leuk uit. Ik had een gerecht uitgekozen en daar zaten walnoten overheen en doorheen, helaas stond dit niet op de kaart (ben hier allergisch voor). Werd wel netjes opgelost, kreeg een nieuw bord.

Vorige week wezen eten en onze dochter met gezin twee dagen erna. Zelfde ervaring helaas. Eten op zich lekker maar ontzettend karig. Je krijgt een stukje vlees op je bord met 1 zakje frites om te delen. Totaal geen groente of gebakken aardappeltjes of zo erbij. Niet uitnodigend om nog een keer te gaan. Lunch is beter

Eten is helemaal top. Maar bediening zie je niet. Je moet zelf om de kaart vragen, extra drankjes. Erg jammer, nodig niet echt uit om nog een keer te gaan.

We hebben hier geluncht, maar het viel ons tegen. De friet was te vet en de hamburger niet doorbakken, ook een beetje saai. Mooie locatie en gebouw wel. Ik vind dat als je een restaurant in zo'n prominent gebouw hebt, dan moet het echt beter.

Het was heel lekker super kwaliteit en je zit er echt gezellig. Een echte aanrader
