AYA in Wijk 02 Nijmegen-Oost

God awful food. I should have known based on almost every review here being from people who were not raised on Asian cuisine, majority being white. The food was nor edible and the prices are ludicrous. We ordered the "Korean died chicken" which was barely crispy and was only 3 Pieces! We also ordered kimbap, which seems to now even be off their menu (thankfully), as it stated it was "2 rolls", and they literally cut 1 kimbap roll in half. Calling that 2 rolls is ridiculous. It also was NOT kimbap. It had some type of gochujang rice with random chopped veggies mixed into it and rolled up, instead of an actual kimbap with carefully selected and sliced ingredients. The only good aspect is the fine of the restaurant, but even that isn't worth this. For anyone who loves authentic Asian cuisine and knows what the real thing tastes like, don't even bother going here.

There were five of us, and we all had something different. For starters, I had beef satay with a delicious ketjap sauce. My main course was the rendang platter; it was really deliciously spiced. I think the sambal was homemade and quite good with a bite of rice.

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Restaurant AYA and it was truly a special evening. The staff treated us with incredible friendliness and attentiveness for the occasion, making us feel extra welcome. Additionally, the food was truly fantastic. We have eaten ramen in various places around the world, but the ramen at AYA has absolutely captured our hearts. Everything was delicious, full of flavor, and prepared with great care. The excellent selection of sake also made the evening complete. We look back on our visit with great fondness and can recommend Restaurant AYA wholeheartedly and without a doubt. We will certainly be back!

Really enjoyed our meal at AYA in Nijmegen. The rendang is a standout dish and honestly worth coming back for on its own. We also tried the pork dumplings, which were really tasty. Overall, AYA is always a great choice when in Nijmegen. Highly recommend!

Tofu Bao buns are quite expensive for what you get. Unfortunately, they were more than worth it, so we ordered a second round.

Nice place with delicious flavors and friendly staff. The portions were a bit on the small side in relation to the price (and there were disproportionately many noodles in the bowl). We also chose dessert together, but unfortunately, the “banana cheesecake” was a real disappointment after a flavorful dinner. It tasted like a mush of overripe bananas mixed with breadcrumbs (for a whopping €8.50). We indicated that we didn't like it, but nothing was done about it.

What a wonderful experience this was. Everything we were served looked fantastic and tasted even better. The takoyaki, in particular, was a huge hit. The combination of the thin flakes on top with the sauce was truly a treat for the eyes and the taste buds. The skewers with the fresh green garnish were also perfectly prepared. We had a great time here and will definitely be back soon.

The place had a nice vibe and the staffs were friendly. Although service was slow, we had to ask for the menu and they never brought the drinks we ordered in the end. But the real disappointment was the food itself. Unfortunately it's not an authentic asian kitchen and overpriced. 24 euro for fried chicken with egg and fried rice that was hard and cold. I couldn't finish the rice, it was so bad.

We had reserved a table for five and were rather unceremoniously seated in the middle of the room, right in front of the open door. Unfortunately, no one responded to our request. The food was decent, but too expensive.

This was our third time dining at Aya; we were happy and surprised once again. The staff is nice and friendly, and the restaurant has a charming atmosphere. cozy, quality and friendly service

I had dinner at Aya in Nijmegen yesterday with my son and daughter. I must say that I really enjoyed everything: the food, the mocktails. It is nice that the dishes are not typically geared towards 'Dutch cuisine' (as is done with Chinese cuisine). The staff were also nice and pleasant. Definitely worth a repeat visit!

Delicious food and super hospitable

I stopped by this place while passing through the neighborhood and decided to give it a try. The staff were very pleasant and friendly, which made the visit enjoyable from the start. The food was okay. I’d say it’s a nice spot if you’re just looking for some snacks and drinks. I didn’t try any of the heavier dishes, so I’d probably need to go back to get a better overall impression of the menu. Overall, it was an okay experience.

The food was absolutely amazing! Probably the best fried chicken I ever had. The fried rice had the perfect consistency and you could taste every singular rice grain. Then the egg yolk, was so on point, it was just beautiful. The service was also really kind, you get free water like in a real japanese restaurant and they seemed to have fun at their job. The prices are high, but the quality is higher, so its still a good investment. We got a table for 8 people, even though we just reserved a table on the same day. Food is amazing here and looks truly amazing. I had the spicy miso ramen, since I like spicy food. Even tho I saw the two spicy peppers on the menu and expected something spicy, I couldn't believe how spicy it truly was. For one of my friends it was to spicy but I loved it. The food was delicious! The taste was truly 10/10. The atmosphere wasn't as good, but that didn't detract from the flavor of the food.

This spot is actually quite pretty, a nice one if you’re craving Asian food. However, we waited a bit too long considering it wasn’t that crowded. For my personal taste, the noodles had a little too much peanut flavor, and I couldn’t finish it because of that. Anyway, it is very good. I would rather try the Korean fried chicken next time.

I had two appetizers: octopus-like meatballs and an eggplant dish. Delicious!!! Andnik had the duck ramen, also truly delicious!!! Be careful, if a dish comes with two fire extinguishers, it's really spicy. 🙈 My daughter discovered that. The ramen was tasty, but too spicy for her.

The waiter , the woman was not in mood yesterday I think because she was so red on the face idk why ?? She looked so aggressive , Especially whean I was asking about the Ramen with beef , the restaurant have only ramen with Pig , chicken and Duck and this is for me clear but nobody gonna disrespect me my personal choice because I don’t like pork 😅🤷🏽‍♂️🤌🏽 never again lady , the food is ok but the waiter and the atmosphere none if you are in good mood and you wanna stay with it don’t go there :))

Although we had reserved a week in advance, we were only informed on the day itself about ultimately unfavorable seats, a table change during our stay, and a very limited time slot. This was apparently because priority was given to a reservation for a larger group. Not very hospitable, and please bear in mind that despite a timely reservation, you might be fobbed off with an unfavorable spot. Very annoying when you have something to celebrate 🥵. Fortunately, we chose another restaurant.

We've never walked out of a restaurant before, but this is one you'll remember for the rest of your life as truly awful. A chef's surprise menu. After a starter that was a bit too salty for us, a main course was served. You'd expect something for €50, but it was a bowl of lamb's lettuce, sweet and sour cucumber, a fried rice paddy, and a bone with the size of a mini meatball (bitterbal) on it. My companion even got a bone with a bit of fat on it. The staff were also shameful. They've never heard of hospitality. The last server at the table tried to salvage our visit, but you'll never see us there again. Aya = oh oh.

So much flavor packed into beautifully crafted meals. Went for lunch and will be back for dinner. The service is great, they are really friendly and personal. The food is just phenomenal with so much depth- the whole place is a warm hug for your soul.

Probably the best ramen I've ever eaten

I got the spicy miso ramen and spicy dumplings. I can say that the dumplings are the best I have ever had. The ramen actually has a bit of a kick to it which I haven’t been able to find in the Netherlands. The staff is amazing and attentive. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Fantastic flavors in all dishes. Generous portions and a wide selection of bao, KFC, noodles, etc. It's also nice that there's a wide variety of drinks. The staff is attentive and friendly. A few tips: make sure the satay sauce with the emping and the egg in the soto aren't as cold.

Tonight, the five of us chose the surprise menu. We had a truly delicious meal. The appetizer, main course, and dessert were all delicious. They were served hot and beautifully. A large carafe of water and a delicious rosé were also included.

This place is amazing! The chef deserves a Michelin star, the tasty curry, the deliciously soft ‘heilbot’ the fantastic sublime deserts ( in the surprise menus we got an amazingly Tom ka Kai inspired ice cream desert… I can only say sublime❤️) five stars is not enough… I’m in awe

A culinary surprise at Aya What a fantastic experience at restaurant Aya! The flavours were truly surprising – each dish had its own character and a lot of attention was clearly paid to combinations that you don’t come across every day. From the refined starters to the creative dessert, everything was perfectly balanced and originally presented.

Last year I had dinner at AYA and since then I have often thought back to the delicious food! Yesterday I finally went back and again it was great! We were served in a friendly and helpful manner, there was always just enough time between all courses. And the food was great again. There will definitely be a third visit.

Friendly staff, but bad food. It's the first time I was served medium rare chicken and had someone explain to me that it was pre-cooked and not indeed raw! The rest of the food, the spices, the ingredients and preparation methods were not anywhere close to authentic cuisine but very clearly improvised by over-confident and over-ambitious "chefs". We both left or plates partially-eaten and we left €60 lighter in total disappointment to go back home and eat a salad. We're never going back.

A hidden gem in the neighborhood. This place has great menu selections of Japanese Korean mix. The ramen has very rich flavors and the noodles’ texture is much better than other ramen places I have been to. The karaage is cooked to perfection; crunchy on the outside but very juice inside…amazing! The chicken and waffle was also superb. Very tasty and presented well. My husabd really enjoyed the Dan-Dan noodles and it inspired us to make it at home. We will come back, for sure. Long drive from Eindhoven but it’s worth the trip.

The best Asian restaurant I have been to in the Netherlands! They definitely know how to bring out the flavours.. we have been here thrice now and we can’t wait to come back again! Definitely must try the mapu tofu, massamman curry, spicy dumplings. The matcha cake was also delicious and not very strong in matcha flavour which made it perfect. The staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

Friendly service and served quickly. Surprising dishes, but I can imagine that not everyone likes this taste palette. We appreciated the Korean. Really something different. Gochuan chicken is delicious...and on a waffle!?! The price is somewhat high, but considering today's inflation, the price-quality ratio is quite good. Reservations are recommended for the evening!

I was a bit disappointed, with such high rated reviews. We had a miso aubergine which hardly tasted like miso and was super sweet, like candy sweet. The KFC was quite good, so were the duck pancakes, but the mapo tofu another let down: the Szechuan peper is properly spicy but the other flavours and textures were unrefined. Atmosphere is nice though.

AYA might not be fully veggie/vegan, as a vegan I think it's really worth a visit. They really make an effort to offer amazing vegan options. I go here for lunch and dinner and just love every single dish they make. Recommendations for vegans: - the crispy gyoza's: tasty, not too spicy - bao fried tofu: a real comfort treat with nice toppings - dan dan noodles: a great option for people who like spicy food - tantanmen ramen: a bit spicy and so full of flavour The noodles they use are amazing! Also: the staff is so kind. Since we're regular guests and tend to come in early, the chef sometimes offers to make a non-vegan dish vegan for us whenever he has time to do so. It shows they pay attention to their guests and know how to cook vegan food. Definitely one of our favourite restaurants in Nijmegen. #vegan #vegannijmegen

We were in Nijmegen for the weekend and wanted to eat something different. We came here and were pleasantly surprised by delicious food, nice atmosphere and friendly staff!

Cafe atmosphere, but tastier, although my Korean noodles with duck were a bit salty. Great dessert (matcha blondie)! The staff is super friendly, not always attentive, but that's part of it.

WOW. wow. OMG. wow. We are soooo happy with AYA in 'our' Nijmegen. How lucky. We would happily drive to the other side of the Netherlands. We are self-proclaimed food snobs. (You can imagine ;-) ) The dishes are all created with such skill and love and made in a way that feels effortless. In addition, it is also a nice, relaxing tent. Big flavors yet subtle. Everything is correct. We regularly order something that we actually don't like. Tofu for example. Pfff.....that's incredibly tasty. This way we leave with a big smile every time. It was better than we remembered. So that's why we keep going back. Do yourself a favor and go to AYA. Please make a reservation. Tasty!

A nice cozy place to eat delicious Asian food. We were there for lunch and got the waffles. Well seasoned and tasty. Highly recommended to have a meal and enjoy the delicious authentic flavors. The waiter said that the bao (steamed buns) is a small dish and possibly just a little too little for a good lunch. He advised us to order something extra. Nice that he said that beforehand. In any case, the staff was friendly and interested. Another advantage, you can park for free in the area!

Delicious food and pleasant service. Strange that you have to walk all the way from the back terrace to the front door via the street to go to the toilet. The PIN machine was also broken, which made paying very difficult and irritating. Nevertheless, it was a great meal, highly recommended!

What a delicious and enjoyable meal we had! The combination of flavors really made me feel like I was in Asia. The cozy atmosphere and great service made our dinner complete!
