Bakkerij Hessing in Wijk 26 Bezuidenhout

Terrible service, rude staff/owner, especially the older ones. No greetings, no proper billing, no goodbye greetings, not even when you do. It's a pattern, and I see it with other customers too. So, it's a great place if you want to be treated poorly.

Every time you walk in, you're ignored, even if you greet them yourself, even when there are hardly any customers. The pastries were dried out, so not tasty. I've had enough now; next time I'll try the other bakery down the street.

Great atmosphere and super friendly service

The bread was good. But I don't understand why; people always ignore me there, even if I just say hello, good morning, or excuse me. Maybe it's because I'm Asian? This never happens at other bakeries. And they don't take my order properly, even when I clearly state which bread I want. I always have to be sad and irritated to buy anything there. My daughter loves the pretzels, and it's the closest bakery, so maybe I should just go with a white friend. This isn't normal, is it?

The purchased egg cakes were dry and not very tasty. The Hague poffer (mini Hague kakker) on the other hand was super tasty. Highly recommended! Nice shop with a number of Hague products.

Delicious ancient bread. But the two waitresses are so grumpy. I saw several notes around the store saying they're looking for new, FUN saleswomen. I understand why when you look at the current sales team 😂. Time for some rejuvenation and a good mood!

I ordered two pastries (lemon meringue and hazelnut meringue). Unfortunately, I threw both away after a few bites; they were simply not good! The service was also mediocre (I didn't receive a very warm welcome).

Quality of products has gone down a lot over the years. The eierkoek I recently bought there had the taste and texture of one that was days old, it was hard and dry. Nothing there tastes nice, do yourself a favor and go to Klink or Boheemen in the neighborhood for delicious, freshly baked goods.

I quickly picked up another Haagse Kakker and Haagse Hopjes. It was a great place. I also picked up a nice cup of coffee for the car. In short, a very satisfied Mr. Hessing.

The best Carrot cake in The Hague

Very friendly staff, communicating in English. The shop is nice and cosy, wide selection, and the Kakker is delicious.

Sandwiches are tasty, but the staff is very unfriendly. Atmosphere in general was not that nice they also acted strange to other customers, but to me and my husband they were RACIST! The lady looked at us strangely when we came in, when she went to warm up our cheese sandwich she asked how we wanted our sandwich (warm) we said just normally not too hot and then she turned around and said something about you not being able to speak Dutch! I asked twice what she said but then she said something completely different. Unbelievable

Theresiastraat location. I returned to buy some carrot cake after maybe 5 yearsago since the last time. I won't be going back in the future. Staff is noticeably unfriendly. Cake is dry yet not even fully baked. Doesn't taste like carrot cake at all. Most interesting point to share was that when I got home to open the box that the cake was in, there was some dried up chocolate/hazelnut (maybe??) frosting on the inside top cover and sides...but there's no chocolate in carrot cake! They reused this box from who knows when. Not very hygienic. Also, if I had food allergies, this could potentially be a serious health issue due to cross-contamination.

friendly local bakery with great coffee!

Came here for the first time on King's Day, an older lady packed 4 tompouces with whipped cream on her fingers and simply licked it in front of us and then wrapped the tompouces... bread is ok!

Friendly service. The ginger pastries are back to normal. We are going to try the pumpkin bread, which is new to us. We'll be back!

The people who owned it before always employed friendly people. Now you ask something and you get a very unfriendly tone from that lady (I think the new owner). Too bad, I enjoyed coming here for years, but I miss the friendliness of the past so I won't go here anymore.

Not what it used to be. The cakes used to be good and great for birthdays. They would even customize the cake with any picture you provide. This recently change and the cakes are either hard or soggy. Everything else is fine, specially the cupcakes.

Volkorenbrood scheurt erg vaak met het smeren van beleg zoals pindakaas en het brood is vaak aan de te droge kant, waardoor moeilijk weg te slikken. Voor de rest wel goed.

Beste bakker van de regio. Eet graag witbrood dubbel gebakken. Geen probleem. Aardig personeel. Topper

Na het kopen van brood e.d. hier even rustig kunnen genieten van een heerlijk bakkie Cappuccino. Dank je Cindy en haar team voor de gezelligheid!!

Service acceptable, mais la qualité des pâtisseries est éventuellement à revoir . La brioche à la cannelle bien trop sèche. L’intérieur pue la cigarette et malgré le fait qu’on puisse s’assoir ( intérieur comme sur la terrasse) les toilettes ne sont pas accessibles aux clients; allez chercher à comprendre pourquoi.

Heerlijke broodjes en goede service. Heb er 4 dagen elke dag een broodje Kip + Truffelmayonaise gehaald die smaakte heel goed. Met een lekker bak koffie is het wel vol te houden zo. Aanrader!

Para algún hispano en la Haya: Exelente haciendo tortas, ví una foto en internet de un pastel de cumpleaños para mi novio, era una tumba muy original, y solo envie la foto a su pagina web y me la hicieron identica!!! Y todos quedaron facinados con su sabor.

Op zich goede kwaliteit, maar eigenlijk iedere keer ongeïnteresseerd of zelfs onvriendelijk geholpen. Ik ga liever elders.

Deze bakker is een begrip in Den Haag. Een ruime keus aan zelf gebakken ambachtelijke broden, niet te vergelijken met de goedkope rommel uit de supermarkt. Later op de middag zijn misschien niet alle broden meer verkrijgbaar maar ben nog nooit met lege handen naar huis gegaan. Altijd leuk om een 'Haagse kakker' mee te namen als cadeau voor visites buiten Den Haag. Zal nooit vergeten dat toen ik nog op kamers woonde ooit diep in de nacht bij 'Oma' Hessing in de Reinkenstraat een paar vers gebakken krentenbollen op de pof mee kon nemen, nog nooit zulke lekkere krentenbollen gegeten :-) Uiteraard later keurig terugbetaald.

Best spot in Bezuidenhout for an early morning breakfast, Italian style. The whole wheat croissant is my favorite. They also have a large selection of bread and the famous "Haagsch Kakker" cake. Recommended!
