I went for a pre-ordered cake. That felt grown-up and purposeful. That feeling lasted exactly until I drove into the parking lot. Free parking, so yes… the temptation begins without any financial resistance. And even before I opened the door, that scent hit me again. Fresh bread, warm croissants, something sweet fresh from the oven… and somewhere in between, that deep, seductive smell of chocolate. The kind of scent that makes you instantly forget why you were there in the first place. Something to do with picking up a cake? Surely. But first, let's take a look. Inside, it happened again. Freshly baked treats lay everywhere, staring at you as if it would be personally insulted if you didn't take them. And then I saw them: chocolates and bonbons, neatly displayed as if they were little works of art. Shiny, perfectly finished, and clearly not intended for people with self-control. My plan was simple: pick up the cake and leave. But that plan began to waver at the very first glance at that chocolate. The staff, friendly and relaxed, greeted me as if they already knew I would be staying longer than planned. With a smile and a "we're just finishing it off nicely," I was invited to stay and watch. And honestly: that was perhaps the best moment. There I stood, while my cake was being finished down to the last detail. A bit of perfecting here, a sleek finish there... just like being at a live baking show. A few minutes later, I walked out. And that smell of fresh bread? That simply came back home with me. Conclusion: fantastic!

I thought I'd get the oliebollen and the old-fashioned apple turnovers fresh from Bakker van der Meijs. What a disappointment! Cold, old, and very greasy. For 30 euros, and from a real bakery, I expected more. So, I'll never buy them here again.

It is a nice bakery and makes delicious cakes and pastries. It is definitely recommended.

Good articles and very tasty pastries and bread

I was simply refused entry here because I wasn't wearing a face mask. Very sad and actually unconstitutional (Equal Treatment Act). Are you also going to stop selling bread to people who haven't been vaccinated? Keep participating in this medical apartheid, which has no basis in fact. I'll buy my bread elsewhere from now on, where everyone is treated equally.
