A wonderful and good establishment! We thoroughly enjoyed the 'Christmas at Karel' dinner, accompanied by a glass of wine. The service was great, the food festive with a bold twist. Michelle and her staff are true, successful catering tigers that many can follow as an example!

This was a great little restaurant attached to a hotel with a beautiful outdoor sitting area that was peaceful and right along the canal. The service was great and the portions were just right and the prices were reasonable.

Overpriced! The 'Naughty Balls' were delicious. The service is good, but it depends on who comes to the table. The lady who helped us was friendly, but the gentleman would be better off staying behind the bar. After we were allowed to choose our table (for 4 people, with only 2 sets of plates on it), and had received our wine and water, the gentleman moved us shortly afterwards to a double table, because another reservation for 4 people came in and everything was 'supposedly' fully booked. (The long table with room for 4 on the bench behind us was still quite empty...) The occupancy of the four-person tables behind our table also consisted of 'only' two people... Before we were moved, he apparently thought it appropriate to tell his colleague, asking the sweet lady if we spoke Dutch, while she was standing right behind my chair and we could listen to the entire conversation. He could have done this a little further away so that we wouldn't hear it. From then on it only got worse. The Flat Iron and the lamb skewers are not worth it for what you get. When asked to be served 'medium' and 'rare'. Also, one main course came minutes before the other main course arrived. We didn't say anything to make it a nice evening, but in retrospect we should have stuck with the bottle of wine after the move and just left. These 'foreigners' had to ask for salt and pepper, considering the meat was so bland. Unfortunately we also left some food behind. We skipped dessert, paid quickly and then headed home as quickly as possible. We left immediately after paying, didn't spare the gentleman a glance, wanted to thank the lovely lady for the service, but our evening was such a disappointment that we didn't look back. An evening like that wasn't worth having our child stay over so we could have date night.

Made a reservation, arrived and we were put at a 4-person table by an employee. 15 minutes later another employee came to tell us that we had to sit at another table, which was for 2 people (I would have done that from the beginning). We had the naughty balls as an appetizer. Taste was good and unique, whatever was on the menu...so a great starter. I ordered a flat iron steak (medium), but it was just weird. The meat itself had no taste at all and had to add quite a bit of salt and pepper to make it taste pleasant. My partner had the lamb skewers and they were also completely tasteless. Tastes differ, but without adding sauce or (extra) salt and pepper, this was also significantly below expectations. To avoid taking any risks, we skipped dessert. In short, the friendliness of the staff varies greatly per person. Food was below average for what you would expect from a Hotel Bar-Restaurant. We will never return there.

We've only known it for six months, but we've already been there about 5 times. Is a super place - nice people - good food and a very reasonable price. Moreover, very tasty wines. The variety of dishes in particular is great. Not the same card for months - really great

We were pleasantly received. Service was friendly, quick and tidy. The food was of excellent quality and the 'dress' of the plates was excellent. The advice about the wine could perhaps have been a little better, fine wine in itself, but a different choice might have been better suited to the menu. All in all, a great restaurant where we would like to come back again.

Such a delicious and cozy meal, both inside and on the terrace. Stoute Karel in Gorinchem is the ideal place for us to eat with cousins. We all come from further away. But we like to come back every 3 months to eat at Stoute Karel.

What a wonderful restaurant. Both the food and the atmosphere. Super sweet hostess and host, who just take their time per table. You can match the wine and food perfectly because there are plenty of combinations. You taste love. We have walked past it many times but never stepped inside. Last week we were hit by a downpour and we were able to take shelter for a while. Then we immediately said that we would come for dinner quickly and we did so on Saturday. ❤️

Have eaten several times with sister, nephew and niece. It is located in a beautiful park. Spacious parking lot a 2-minute walk away. Service is very consistent. The dishes are of high quality and good! It is just that little bit more special than standard.

By chance we ended up at Stoute Karel restaurant. However, we have not regretted it. A nice restaurant, with good service, tasty food and good wine. This in a beautiful location. Highly recommended.

Unimaginable ! We were camping in the marina for the third time now and only now did we notice the restaurant. Friendly reception; we were the first guests. I had never experienced anything like "Sharing", but I really enjoyed it. My companion had something from Aubergine, vegetarian and that was great. I had tuna as a starter, which was delicious. The recommended glasses of white wine fit the bill perfectly. I would have liked a stronger steak with the sliced ​​sirloin steak (right in the pit) and the waitress immediately got it. A good grappa with the perfect espresso was the end. We will definitely come back here. I would like to thank all the ladies of the Stoute Karel for their efforts and energy; what a restaurant!

I recently enjoyed a fantastic dining experience at Stouten Karel restaurant. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and friendliness by the attentive staff. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing night out. The menu offered an excellent selection of dishes, with something for everyone. The chef clearly put a lot of care into the preparation of the dishes as everything I tried was absolutely delicious. Each dish was beautifully presented and prepared with fresh, high quality ingredients. I was especially impressed by the creativity and tasty combinations in the dishes. From the starter to the dessert, every bite was a true delight for the taste buds. The wine list also offered an extensive selection of matching wines to complete the meal. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was cozy and inviting, which made me feel right at home. I highly recommend Stouten Karel restaurant to anyone looking for an extraordinary culinary experience. I'm already looking forward to returning again soon!

Nice restaurant with beautiful views of the water. Very nice service and delicious food. Just mention a few tasty things on the menu and ask them to arrange the rest around it. A wonderful and pleasant evening is guaranteed!

Nice and good restaurant. Ate at the bar and it was excellent. We were surprised by the kitchen. Next time take control yourself because it was a lot. Good wines in the range. Recommended for the culinary enthusiast. Staff were very attentive. We lacked nothing. The beetroot with goat cheese and flat iron is recommended. As for the wines, the white and red tempranillos are highly recommended. Tasty and nicely priced.

Outside there is a sign that says, have a nice drink with a choice of more than 40 open wines. Inside we want to try a red wine, but the question of what choice is available is completely ignored. Then the waiter came with a bottle of spat burgunder red, which we were allowed to taste first. We didn't feel like discussing the 40 choices available, but we thought this wine was okay. At checkout this will cost no less than 9 euros!!!! per glass, because that's what the Spät burgunder costs... So 18 euros for those 2 glasses, without this being reported to us in advance. Throughout Germany you have to struggle to find a bottle of spät burgunder that costs 18 euros, let alone 2 glasses. They will never see me there again.

Afgelopen weekend plaatsgenomen in restaurant Stoute Karel. De stoelen zitten goed en de zaak lijkt van de buitenkant groot maar is van binnen gezellig en knus. Het restaurant heeft een verrassende kaart voor ieder wat wils. Het is 'share dinning' dus je kan van alles wat proeven. En dat hebben we gedaan! Verwacht hier dus niet een traditioneel voor-, hoofd- en nagerecht. Het verschil tussen de gerechten is best groot. Sommige gerechten hebben echt uitgesproken smaken, andere gerechten zijn wat aan de vlakke kant. Porties zijn op zich oké. De bediening was op zich aardig op dreef, maar in benadering heel verschillend van elkaar. Parkeren kan eenvoudig om de hoek.

Sfeervol restaurant met heerlijk eten. Leuk concept.

Dit restaurant bevindt zich op een prachtige locatie! Echter, de menukaart is alleen voor hotelgasten. Passanten, ook zij die gereserveerd hebben, kunnen kiezen uit kleine gerechtjes die je met elkaar moet delen. De porties zijn (te) klein en de doorloop was traag. Daarnaast best aan de prijzige kant voor wat je voorgeschoteld krijgt. Voor mij een achterhaald concept en geen aanrader wat eten betreft.

Fijne keuken. Een aantal kleinere gerechten te kiezen om tussen je gezelschap te delen. Aangenaam kader, met erg vriendelijke en correcte bediening. Ruime keuze aan kwaliteitsvolle wijnen. Eveneens met een groot terras. Zicht op het water. Reserveren is aan te raden, het kan hier soms vol zitten.

Update: helaas lang niet meer zo goed als eerst. Andere kok? Stevig aan de prijs nu. Eerder: genoten van diverse gerechten die je met elkaar deelt aan tafel. Erg lekker en verzorgd. Goede wijnkaart. Dikke aanrader.

Heel erg leuk en gezellig restaurant. Fijne ontvangst, informele ontvangst, mooie wijnen en boven al lekker eten. Eten dat zeer geschikt is voor shared dining.

Heerlijk gegeten, de plek was geweldig en de sfeer goed. De dames deden echt hun best, helaas liep er een mannelijke, wat oudere, bediende rond die met zijn kritische vragen en wat chagrijnige uitspraken onze ervaring minder positief maakte, maar de gezellige dame die de toetjes kwam brengen en de nieuwe dame die ons de rest van de avond prima geholpen heeft, maakten dat ruimschoots goed.

Geen echt restaurant.meer een bar met allerlei snacks.het meeste uit een pakje gemaakt en opgewarmd of gefrituuurd.was niet onder de indruk. Had een tafel gereserveerd als alleenstaande.kreeg geen tafel moest maar aan de bar.zogenaamd waren alle tafels al geboekt.bleek natuurlijk niet zo te zijn.jammer.geen goede indruk terwijl het hotel dik oke is.

Heerlijk gegeten en een hele leuke ouderwetse Berkel vleeswaren snijmachine.

Genieten op niveau. We hebben ons laten verrassen en dat hebben we geweten! Gewoon SUPER! Dat betreft de gerechten maar zeker ook de vriendelijke bediening. We komen daar zeker terug.

Met heel veel liefde gemaakt en gebracht aan een faire prijs. Try the ribs

Allereerst is de gastvrijheid en vriendelijkheid een geweldige start van een fijne avond, de ambiance fijn, de muziek lekker, en ook heerlijk gegeten. De kipspies vond ik overigens niet helemaal top, die was wat lauw en ook wat minder mals. Maar de gegrilde bloemkool met granaatappel en tahin was zeer verrassend en erg lekker. Ook een lekkere espresso gedronken en goede tips gekregen voor de volgende dag. Een aanrader! Had dit keer geen wijn gedronken, maar als je houdt van een lekker wijntje... Ze hebben heel veel lekkere wijnen per glas beschikbaar. Heerlijk als je eens wat anders wilt dan een standaard huiswijn, maar niet gelijk een hele fles wilt bestellen of gewoon een paar verschillende wijntjes wilt gebruiken. Genieten hier!

Het was best goed maar zeker niet top. De keuze is heel beperkt. Wat ze hebben is best duur. Prijzen zijn niet in verhouding tot de kwaliteit. Het is wel leuk ingericht en bediening is vriendelijk.

Enorme gezellige avond gehad met super lekkere hapjes. De plek om te zijn als je met elkaar een gezellig etentje wilt hebben. Echt een aanrader.
