I would NOT recommend this place. Simple décor, zero vibe, and the bar tender seems to hate his job. Came here with a group of 11 after a pre-wedding dinner. Upon entering the small cocktail bar, there were about 5 other patrons. I informed the bar tender we were a large group before we all entered and he already seemed annoyed, and stated “you know this is a cocktail bar right? I only have about 7 beers”. I acknowledged and asked him if he can accommodate us, he begrudgingly said yes. We sat at the couch area in the back, and we decided to start with one drink as to not inconvenience the bar tender. We asked for 11 shots of well tequila, he asked if we were planning to stay or just have the shot. I again asked, is it ok that we stay because that would be our preference and he forcefully said yes that fine. He came back with our shots shortlyafter, placed the tray on the table then went back to the bar. Though cold, the tequila was not very appetizing. We asked for a shaker with ice so we could dilute it down which is when the bar tender’s responses went aggressive. He basically criticized us for how we wanted our drinks several times, didn’t want us to shake ourselves, threw his tray behind the bar while murmuring comments under his breath. We paid for our drinks and left. I’m sure he was having a bad day or something but that’s not how you treat a group of thirsty customers. Bad service, bad tequila, bad vibes, I would not recommend coming to this place.

5 Stars - Incredible Cocktails & Top-Notch Service! We had an amazing experience at Bar Mokum! Our first round included the Habbelebabs and Gleuvenrijder both were insanely good, creative, and packed with flavor. For the second round, I asked for an Old Fashioned with a bit more sweetness, and bartender Yung absolutely nailed it, it was perfectly balanced. We also asked for a bartender’s choice, and Yung served us his personal favorite (I wish I remembered the name), and wow… it was seriously delicious! Yung’s service was the best super friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what he does. This place is a must visit if you’re into great cocktails and even better vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

Really nice place and nice drinks!

We were looking for a good cocktail bar in Amsterdam, and we found it! Reminded me of home, as in Estonia we have a similarly styled bar in the capital. Even though the prices are high, the cocktails were worth it. I took one from the menu and the other one the bartender made me something and both were amazingly tasty! Interior is cool and cozy and the vibe is great!

Were there for the first time, very nicely decorated bar, very friendly and attentive waiter (I think his name was Peter), very nice atmosphere with good and adjusted music volume, cocktail menu wasn't large but the alcoholic cocktails, as well as the non-alcoholic cocktails, were very good. Would definitely go again.

An amazing discovery in De Pijp neighborhood, right next to the Albert Cyup market— speakeasy ambiance with trees and almost a “street” vibe, cozy seating with booths and sofas, delicious cocktails and good food (shoutout to the Amsterdam cheese!). One of the highlights of my trip, would definitely recommend for a fun, vibrant, yet chill evening.🫶

In één woord: uitmuntend! Van ambiance tot service kan je hier niks anders dan excellentie verwachten. Wij hadden hier voor een vrijgezellenfeest een cocktail cursus erg vriendelijk personeel, duidelijke uitleg, erg sfeervol. Superleuke sfeervolle tent in hartje Amsterdam. Hele leuke whiskey tasting en cocktailworkshop gehad. De eigenaar, Leroy had er mooie verhalen bij. Echte aanrader voor een gezellig uitje!

The. BEST. Extra Dirty Martini. EVER!! Seriously, you won’t care if your hands and ankles swell up from the salt intake, you will order another one promptly after finishing the first! Music was on point, staff very friendly and bar atmosphere had a cool vibe. Came in for the espresso martini with a Stroop Wafel garnish (unabashedly a tourist) but left with wishing this was our local.

Beautiful bar hidden under Moak restaurant. Upon entering we were warmly welcomed by the staff. The interior is well cared for and the dark ambiance makes it very cozy. The drinks are made with great care and were very tasty. You immediately receive a glass of water that is refilled during the evening: very nice. The cheese board was also great and paired well with the cocktails. It is cold at the front of the bar because the door is open, but the further you walk inside it is not so bad. It's nice that the toilet seat is heated. The whole thing is pricey, but it's definitely worth it.

Great bar, amazing cocktails, nice atmosphere and an excellent service. One of the few places left in European touristic cities that serve water for free and make sure that your glass is always full. Definitely recommend it!

I really like coming here! The atmosphere, the service and cocktails are great! Even though the cocktails are a bit pricey, I think it is normal in De pijp for the good quality cocktails. I suggest do a reservation since they dont have too much seats. However you can maybe find a spot on the bar seats without reservation if you are lucky :)

Bar Mokum is a fantastic cocktail bar. The servers were very informative, walking us through the menu, and also letting us know that they could also whip up something based on our preferences if we didn’t see anything we liked on the menu. Their drinks are inventive, and span a wide range of flavor profiles. We tried a few different ones and loved them all. The inside is fun, seeming almost like you’re having a drink on a side street. Only complaint was our bench was a little uncomfortable after awhile.

Its a bar. Only bitterballen for food. Come to drink. Its the best. Drinks are great and the staff is very attentive. We would definitely come back and I recommend this place to anyone. Its like a recycled basement.

Really dope spot. I was looking for a speakeasy and after a couple trips up and down the block I found this hidden gem. Service was great as were the drinks. 10/10 would recommend.

Went there around 19:15, a bit before the evening rush and it was a nice atmosphere. It's below another shop, and there's a clear ceiling so you can see up top. Got their pornstar martini style drink, and would get again. We reserved online (paid a deposit) and all had one drink so didn't need to pay after:)

Absolutely recommend going. Great cocktails and great vibes. It is a bit hard to find as its tucked between couple of places and effectively and open door with stairs leading down. Menu offers both classic cocktails and their own versions. Definitely worth a try.

Quality price ratio is not good. We had 3 drinks out of which one (the first in the menu) tasted like syrup. It was so sweet we could not drink it. Atmosphere was good and service was ok. Only after we paid they offered us a new cocktail but by that time we were already leaving the place.

Tried going here on a Friday night but there was a queue outside, so we came back on Wednesday for drinks. The atmosphere is nice, very talkative and friendly staff. The cocktails were OK for the price, only the ‘sweet’ ones were more sour than the sour ones on the menu…

The real Bar Mokum — Located below a busy street in the Pijp, this pseudo-speakeasy bar feels like the heart of Amsterdam. They play great hip hop, and the decor and ambiance are spot-on. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable, making it one of the best bars in Amsterdam. The drinks are creative - we really loved the twists on classic cocktails - my favorite was their take on the Whiskey Sour but with carrot and Genever. If you’re looking for something unique and super fun, this is the spot. Absolutely loved it!

Tried their Pornstar Martini, Mai Tai, Old fashioned & Margarita style cocktails, all were great, didn't skimp on booze, but taste was well balanced and flavourful as well. Beef bitterballen were of delightful quality as well, you don't usually find them this good in a bar.

Just a great place all together. Very good cocktails with a very friendly people working there and an absolutely delightful atmosphere. It’s one of my favorite cocktail bars in Amsterdam and a one that I frequent to. You can’t go wrong with whatever you order. But my favorites are the Graftak and Gleuvenrijder.

It’s hard to find a bar that makes really good cocktails and even rarer to find one that does that consistently. Bar Mokum achieves both beautifully. The drinks are perfectly prepared and creatively delivered. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is inviting. Eira and Emma are world class mixologists and expertly guide you through the selection. If you are adventurous then just let me close for you or better yet create something different and special. It is a little hidden and down a flight of stairs which adds to its mystique. Journey down the stairs and enjoy.

I was very happy to have a beautiful space to enjoy a cocktail with my book in this speakeasy. I was recommended their version of the Negroni and the presentation was just as good as the drink itself. This would be a great place for a date.

Great place to hang out and chat with friends! We had an isolated table to discuss everything. To those who prefer not-sweet cocktails, I recommend the Komt wel goed schatje (it's pretty far from a classic Margarita though) and Citroentje most.

Nice speciality cocktail bar with a speak-easy vibe. You have to go downstairs on the side of a different business to get in. Cozy atmosphere and well crafted cocktail.

Cocktails are mainly an spin-off classics but they were nice. Place is unusual and cozy but not really fun.. Overall we had a good experience! Would love to go back soon

If I want any well-made cocktail in Amsterdam, Bar Mokum is my go-to place. The staff is always kind and makes sure you'll get a cocktail to your liking. They have signature cocktails in their menu, but you're always welcome to order the classics. I recommend making a reservation before going, so you can sit in a cozy nook or on a sofa. :)
