Bistro d'Ouwe Leeuw in Wijk 00 Hoogerheide en Woensdrecht

Cozy atmosphere. Friendly and helpful staff who take gluten allergies into account.

Wow wow wow! What delicious food, and hospitable and child-friendly. Honestly, I have never experienced such child-friendly staff and a high-quality restaurant at the same time! Unfortunately, we don't live nearby, but we enjoyed it!

Delicious dishes on beautifully presented plates. Extensive menu with both lovely fish and meat dishes! Had a wonderful evening there!

We had a delicious meal. The traditional Balkan menu is highly recommended. The service was truly top-notch. The chef came over himself to explain what was being served.

Food of very high quality. Super service and helpful. The atmosphere is very homey and welcoming.

Dinner à la carte with 4 adults and a 10-month-old child. A pancake for the little one. We had a delicious meal, highly recommended.

We had a delicious meal at this beautiful bistro in the picturesque municipality of Woensdrecht. Recently, you can order and pick up delicious food. After receiving a flyer in the mail, we decided to drive here together—my wife having the sweet honey spare ribs and me the mixed grill. The food is super tasty and honest, and the portions are more than enough. Highly recommended for a stop to enjoy a delicious meal in a charming, authentic ambiance.

We dined at your restaurant on July 31st, the Balkan menu; it was truly superior, incredibly delicious, and very extensive. Fortunately, we were given the rest of the menu to take home, so we enjoyed it for another day, including the baklava. The service was absolutely superb, so friendly and helpful; in a word, absolutely TOP.

Super friendly staff, and we were served by Jesse, who guided us through the culinary menu of De Ouwe Leeuw. Today was our second time enjoying what De Ouwe Leeuw has to offer. Definitely recommended if you are in the area. Be sure to make a reservation just to be safe.

What a treat to eat here. A warm welcome from a friendly waitress who assisted us with advice through the dishes in a bistro with a pleasant atmosphere that makes you happy. Pure passion for the customer and for the dishes; the plates were presented as a true work of art for the eye, making the taste buds do a little dance of joy. I had the "medium rare" steak, served on a beautifully presented warm plate with a delicious, tender medium steak accompanied by surprising flavors. We did not have a starter, but we did receive a tasty portobello amuse-bouche. In addition to our drinks, we were treated to a liqueur twice, the last of which was served warm with whipped cream. The dessert was equally delicious and in line with the expectations of the initial treats. After the meal, the very friendly chef came over to chat with everyone to see if we had enjoyed it. For us, an unforgettable experience that is certainly worth repeating, for which I thank all the staff at Bistro d'Ouwe Leeuw.

Beef tenderloin was very spicy. Lamb chops were good, but we have had better. Friendly staff.

Delicious food, great service, thank you

We went out for dinner to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary. It was fantastic. The warm welcome, the delicious food, and the friendly and cozy atmosphere. Even the chef came over to chat with everyone. Thanks also for the gift on the occasion of our wedding anniversary. Many thanks to all the staff for this very enjoyable evening. We will definitely be back. Fam. Hendrickx

We had a delicious meal! We had spareribs and a seafood platter, which were super tasty. The strawberry tiramisu was also excellent. We hadn't made a reservation, so there was only seating outside. They even put up a parasol for us so that we stayed dry during a light rain shower.

Had a delicious meal and what fantastic service, so polite👌👌👌

We ended up here totally unexpectedly... luckily, there was still a spot available on the eve of King's Day... The waiters were super friendly, the food delicious, and the chef even took the time to come over to everyone.... that's how we like it! Congratulations, keep up the good work.

Great service, warm people, simply top-notch! Very pleasant restaurant. Had a delicious meal. Great service. Top-notch! Went again. With a large group this time. Top-notch! Main course and dessert very good!

We were on our way back from our vacation, and we came across this restaurant. When we entered, we were immediately greeted by your staff. The food was perfect. Nice chef and the food was ready quickly. The food was perfect, I will definitely come back here.

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant by chance, and even though we didn't have a reservation on a busy Saturday evening, we were still warmly welcomed. They even managed to find a small table for two somewhere. The food was truly delicious, and the service very warm and attentive. They really understand how to make customers enjoy themselves here.

Excellent bistro. Extensive menu and a very wide selection of beers. Friendly, polite, and professional service. The staff goes out of their way to make customers feel comfortable. Free parking. Beautiful decor. Suitable for all kinds of parties, celebrations, and events. Reservations are recommended. Highly recommended for a culinary treat. Good value for money.

Very hospitable welcome; nicely decorated for a birthday. Good balance between courses. We had a delicious meal. The host/chef came over in between courses to chat and ask if everything was good. After all the delicious dishes and drinks, one free dessert to finish: liqueur with whipped cream. Worth repeating; we will definitely be back. Best regards, Jan and Ilse

We had a delicious meal and what nice people work here.

Last night, Friday, April 10th, I was invited by friends for dinner at Bistro D'Ouwe Leeuw. It turned out to be an unforgettable evening: the atmosphere among us "couldn't have been better". Service: super friendly, lots was explained and clarified, and good tips were given without being condescending (Veltsins was a good tip for a white wine). Food: WOW, every dish was a true delight: the flavor was spot on, the swordfish was pure bliss, so tasty, still full of juicy flavor, garnished with a few bite-worthy, deliciously prepared vegetables. We will certainly love to come back, if only to try the complete Bosnian menu next time. Thanks to all the staff, you yourselves were top-notch too!

Last night, we had a wonderful dinner with 5 women at Bistro d'ouwe leeuw. We were warmly welcomed and assigned a fantastic table. The food looks stunning and tastes fantastic, for the starter, main course, and dessert alike. The service and friendliness are amazing. The ambiance is warm and cozy. From now on, definitely our favorite restaurant!

We booked last minute, but it didn't show. Everything went perfectly, the personal approach was excellent, as was the food. In short: TOP!

We just went out for dinner, but thanks to the enthusiastic service, the delicious food, the friendly chef, and the pleasant atmosphere, the evening turned into a real treat! Thank you so much for this! We'd love to come back!

It's a shame I couldn't give it 6 stars! We had a truly fantastic evening, which started right from the moment we arrived, with a nice drink at the bar. Then the waiter pointed out that there were many options to choose from. I didn't need to be asked twice, so I added frog legs and veal sweetbreads to my already extensive starter of small appetizers. It was perfectly acceptable. There were four of us, and we all happened to choose a different menu, but all twelve dishes were delicious! At the end of the evening, the super friendly chef came to our table for a chat. The service was also really friendly! The seating was also very spacious. We'll definitely be back! Thanks for a wonderful evening!

We had another delicious meal tonight. We really appreciated that you can order something extra with a dish or change it without any hassle. The service is friendly and excellent, and the owner comes out of the kitchen to ask if everything is alright. That's appreciated. We will definitely be back soon. Best, Robert and Marleen.

A truly beautiful restaurant with friendly service. The food is beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended. And then there's the chef who even stops by your table to ask if everything was alright 😍 Simply excellent. Keep up the good work!

What a fantastic location for dinner! Everything was top-notch: a cozy restaurant, friendly service, and all the dishes were deliciously prepared. It was so nice that the chef even came to the table to ask how everything was going. It was a fantastic evening!

It's always delicious to eat here and it's cozy to sit, but last time we were here we had the Balkan menu, and it was fantastic! The starter is nicely varied, and the main course is a delicious piece of lamb, super tender and well-seasoned. And so much so that we enjoyed it again the next day. The super-friendly chef came to the table to carve the meat and explained everything. He and his team did a great job again; we enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Balkan menu. We were warmly welcomed by the chef. And with the main course, we even received a brief explanation. Very helpful! We were given the leftovers, which we enjoyed the next day. Thanks, chef.

We love eating here because of the friendly and good service, the delicious food, and the very nice owner...it's a cozy and pleasant place...definitely recommended, with a good and tasty menu. There was also a game menu, and we ordered dishes from that today.

Super delicious. Game season has started.

Cozy, friendly, food was great!

With a table of six, it was beautifully set and decorated for a birthday. After drinks, we ordered delicious warm rolls. The main courses were all different, but perfectly presented, hot, and well-prepared. Plenty of fries on the side 👌🏼 The service was good. Desserts also had plenty of choices, and the taste was excellent. In short, a wonderfully flavorful evening.

Had a delicious meal for a reasonable price. Vegetarian options are also recommended. The chef personally came to the table to ask if everything was to my liking. The tournedos I ordered was exactly as I requested – top-notch. The appetizers and other snacks "on the house" were excellent.

Varied menu; unfortunately, there was a problem with the tournedos, but it was neatly resolved. The food is delicious, but I'd like to see more vegetables. Beef stew is highly recommended.

We dined with the whole family (12 people). Every dish was delicious. Refined flavors, well-prepared, and fresh. The staff clearly enjoyed themselves, despite the busy and warm evening. The chef/owner truly cares about his guests. Price, quality, and atmosphere go hand in hand here!

Always delicious! Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. A really great chef. Perfect for a relaxing night out.

Ate swordfish and rib eye. Both top quality. Definitely recommended.

We were invited, very busy, very hot, many flies!!! Had to wait a very long time for our drink, had to wait a very long time for our dishes. Which were mediocre! We had ordered wine, when we had almost consumed our main course... The wine came!! No, it was too pitiful for words, and your good money! Really too bad! I thought it was a children's class behind the bar, what fun we had.

For a regular bistro very nice food. A few surprising drinks and for once some variation on the menu instead of the standard cheese and shrimp croquette. The chef who came to ask if everything was okay was very much appreciated. In short. A nice address for the bistro kitchen

5 stars An absolute insider tip! The Bistro d'ouwe Leeuw in Hoogerheide impresses with its beautiful ambiance, warm and attentive service, and fantastic food prepared with love. You immediately feel welcome and completely at home. If there's anything you could complain about at a high level, it might be the fries – homemade would be the icing on the cake, or they could easily be left out altogether. But that's complaining at the highest level – we'll definitely be back! 5 stars What a top-notch restaurant! The Bistro d'ouwe Leeuw in Hoogerheide has a wonderful setting, super-friendly service, and dishes that aren't just delicious, but also presented with a lot of love. You immediately feel welcomed and at ease. As we really want to say, we want to pray for you - and then you'll miss the fries. Huisgemaakt zouden ze het helemaal af maken, of ze may have been removed. This is really high level. Wij come zeker terug!

We enjoyed the good quality of the food, super nicely served, friendly service with humor. If we are in this area again we will definitely come back. P.s. also 5 big stars from Joes 😉

Very warmly welcomed. Extensive menu with seasonal suggestions. For some reason my table companions had to wait a while for their fries which (was announced) was a shame because their main course had been there for quite some time. If that had not been the case, I would have given 5 stars for service. The food was very tasty, not 5 stars because the stroganoff sauce was very creamy, the mixed grill was small compared to the other dishes. We really had a fantastic evening, to go back.

It was great, four of us had dinner and everything was very tasty. There was also plenty of time between the dishes, which was very nice. A wonderful evening

Top food, and excellent service, see you next Dino and team 👍🏼

Delicious food, beautiful place! Friendly staff...highly recommended.

Cosy atmosphere. Excellent price/quality. Nice extensive menu, nice service.

On Thursday evening, March 6, 2025, around 9 p.m., we were looking for a place to have a drink with a small group. At all restaurants in the area we were no longer welcome, or we could stay until the last diners left. That could mean that we had to leave in 5 minutes. At d'Ouwe Leeuw we were welcome and we could sit quietly. It was cozy, we felt the hospitality and the service was very friendly. Top!

So many delicious dishes to choose from, here you can really enjoy food in a friendly atmosphere.

Prima, gastvrij restaurant met een jonge bediening die echter veel gastvrijheid uitstraalt. Mooie gerechten, behoorlijk prijssegment maar kwaliteit is goed. Wij komen graag weer!

Another delicious meal, and what a friendly staff and manager, highly recommended 😊👌

We had a lovely meal here last night, with good friends. Nothing was a problem for head chef Dino and the staff to accommodate our wishes and that of the kids. The menu was traditional but broad, they also had a range of wild game options which went down as a real treat for us kiwis! Honestly eveything was delicious and I cannot wait to go back! Kids comment: Awesome desert and they even had a menu in english 😁

I had some comments in an earlier review of mine, but I ate here again a few weeks ago and it was simply fantastic!!! Good food and nice service. The cook came to the table to ask if everything was to your liking, and I was genuinely surprised that they knew from the last time. People often say when it is not good, but if it has been good it can certainly be said. In short, Chapeau and keep it up! We will definitely come back again.

Delicious food again. With 2 teenage kids who love the prawns. Friendly staff, absolutely not pushy. Dino is really a top chef. He also comes to visit the guests after finishing his cooking. Definitely worth going back again.

Price-quality ratio is good, the service is better, but the food is great, we will definitely come back here more often. Top.

Game menu was really delicious. Price quality good. We will definitely come back again.

I work here myself, but I came to taste it myself and I had a delicious meal.

Because we had a very good evening at the Ouwe Leeuw earlier, we went back this week with friends from America. The food was delicious again, the staff was super nice, but the service was so slow that it bothered us all evening. It took a very long time before we were helped, and something was repeatedly forgotten. Hopefully this is a temporary problem!

Really delicious food, very friendly service, cozy atmosphere, highly recommended, we will definitely come back!

The kitchen handles allergies well. There is an allergen menu, but they make every effort where they can to adapt the dish to the customer's allergies. Very nice to be able to eat like this

Delicious food, the menu invites you to come back again! Nice atmosphere and nice staff.

Last but not least... het smaakte uitstekend!

Top dishes. Tasty food. Also for delivery. Dino thanks you and your team. Delicious. Thanks tigers.

Delicious food, everything tasted delicious😀😊

We come back here every year. Delicious food and super friendly service!

Delicious food and helpful service in a quiet and atmospheric restaurant.

Nice people, quick service and delicious food! What else do you want.....

Delicious food, very friendly staff...worth repeating!

A blonde girl with blue eyes was very nice. Therefore 5 stars! Nice beer

Aanrader !

The service is relaxed. Ilse is great and fast, that's what we like, the food is very tasty and the wines too 🥂

Very tasty food, very friendly staff, simply a great evening!! We will definitely come back here!

Super tasty food, good atmosphere and very friendly service. We had a starter, main and dessert. Will definitely come back. I don't like blue cheese and it was arranged very well. Just a bit more of other cheeses.👍

Today we had a very tasty and enjoyable meal with good friends. We had been before, but are once again convinced of this nice location. Keep it up.....😋👍🏻💪

Very nice restaurant. I turned 12 and ordered delicious spareribs. Super tasty with a large portion of fries and a delicious dessert! Thank you Dino. Great service!

Just ordered delicious burgers! To be repeated!

Always great, except someone put a dent in my car and drove into the parking lot and didn't leave a note, we are all insured anyway, but yes you have Asos everywhere

Had a lovely meal here with our family yesterday evening. It was our first time taking our children here. They really loved it and they tasted the quality and difference with restaurants they knew. A nice experience for them and they indicated that from now on they really don't want to go to the all ypu can eat tents🤣 But they like this much better It's been a while for us, but the food is so delicious, everything goes together. You can eat there at your leisure and the atmosphere is good. We always eat 3 courses here and you really get your fill. The house amuse is also really delicious and gives that extra something that sets them apart from most restaurants in the area. My son, who wants to become a chef, was even allowed to take a look in the kitchen with the chef. Very nice chef, he was also very friendly to his staff and this ensured that everyone was very comfortable. And you see this in everything. We are huge fans of the restaurant and I really cannot name a negative point.

Had a nice meal, it was tasty again. The paella was of high quality. The chefs have done their best again. The service was also great. Thank you Bistro D'Ouwe Leeuw for this fun evening.

You leave hungry. Such small portions and for high prices. And not even very good quality. Now my hunger was gone when we received our main course only 2 hours later. We used to like coming here, but not anymore.

Today we had a delicious meal at Bistro D' Oude Leeuw with friends. We had an excellent meal here. The service was friendly and helpful. In a word, a great evening!!!

Beautiful and spacious restaurant. We had a delicious meal and drinks.

Great little diamond, definitely recommended

Delicious food and a nice atmosphere.

The best dinner egxperience I have had in years!

The food was delicious. Truly an experience to eat here! The food was served very neatly, highly recommended!

Delicious food in a nice atmosphere!

Delicious food. In a good atmosphere. On a Wednesday evening. Highly recommended regarding food.

Nice place, delicious food and a lot of attention to the customer.

Had dinner for the first time and we really enjoyed it. Good reception and smooth service. Delicious dishes for a reasonable price compared to Belgium. Price quality is therefore top. Will definitely come back again.

Delicious food from the game menu. We enjoyed it very much and also the friendly atmosphere and friendly service!!

Zeer lekker wild gegeten. Echt een aanrader. Prima bediening.

Aanrader!

Food was nice, atmosphere really nice but the service was a bit too slow. Wine sold by glass was not too many.
