What a great restaurant. Started off really well, real French menu, decor perfectly in theme. Bistro le petit chef is heading for a successful future. If the service is fully integrated after a while, this is a 100 percent. ......... unfortunately a few years later and management has changed, menu is still good only quality inconsistent. Service has unfortunately deteriorated and it has now become a typical genZ hipster place. Too bad because we were very happy with this business in the neighborhood when they first started.

The food is outstanding, but the service leaves much to be desired. It was extremely difficult to get the attention of the waitstaff

What a beautiful place. I actually only had a coffee but the atmosphere appeals to me so much that I will come back soon for lunch. Saw all kinds of tasty things on the menu. You imagine yourself in Paris for a moment.

Too bad that the kitchen completely fails on a number of important points. The salads, nicoise and chevre chaud, how is it possible that these consist of more than 80% iceberg lettuce? That there is no tomato to be seen? That there is fruit in the Chevre (not chaud at all by the way)? That there is no steak, no steak tartare and this is not mentioned in advance? Too bad because it should be such a good restaurant according to frequent visitors, were we unlucky? The choice we made was excellent by the way, nothing to complain about that.

Delicious French Bistro! Both the drinks and the dishes are served super nice, the tableware is beautiful! We enjoyed a French toast, shrimp croquettes, toasted bread and a fresh salad and the camembert from the oven. The service is very friendly and polite. Next visit is for the drinks!

Very nicely decorated restaurant with friendly staff and super delicious and high-quality food.

Pleasant service, great atmosphere, good French classic dishes. Wine list could be a bit more exciting. Tables outside just big enough, inside really too small you have to puzzle (and the service too) where to put your stuff.

This was the first time we ventured out to explore the restaurants in Rijswijk after we moved here last year (we usually just go to the Hague) and it turned out to be pretty amazing food and ambiance wise.

I visited this restaurant again today around noon, as it’s one of my favorite places and I wanted to go one last time before leaving the Netherlands. I ordered the lobster bisque and the eggs benedict. The menu described the bisque as creamy — and I had tried it here before and absolutely loved it. But this time, it was watery and had no creaminess at all. When I asked the server about it, she first said they had changed the menu, then said they make it differently every time, and later claimed that it’s usually made this way. I explained that I had tried it here before and it was definitely creamy. Instead of simply apologizing or offering a solution, she got defensive and said the chef makes one big batch and can’t adjust it. After a long and uncomfortable back-and-forth, they finally removed the item from the bill. I left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. I really love this place, and this experience could have been so easily avoided with a simple apology and some flexibility. I hope the management speaks with the server from today’s lunch shift.

This place is so cute and situated in a cute neighborhood! It was nice so we sat outside in the shade and had wine and beer! We ordered the sea bass, mussels, green beans and French fries! We hadn’t eaten all day! The food was super tasty and very filling for the two of us! Great service and atmosphere was perfect!

We certainly had a delicious meal at Le Petit Chef in honor of a festive occasion. Good flavors, excellent wines. However, it was a pity that the dishes were served slightly too lukewarm and the bubbles discussed in advance by telephone were not known to the service, which spoiled the surprise effect. Too bad, it could really be better...

At Bistro Le Petit Chef I had a delicious meal and drinks in a cozy atmosphere. The service was very attentive and made us feel welcome. It was also not too expensive, which makes it extra attractive. Definitely recommended for anyone in Rijswijk.

Had a late lunch. Service was great! Compliments for the nice ambiance and hospitality. Commitment was shown. The interior was beautiful, we don't actually have to go to France! Food was good, small point for improvement for the poached egg. The egg yolk could have been runnier. In my opinion, the smoked salmon fillet was too thick to balance the dish's taste and structure. (Oeuf Bénédictine) The Tarte Tatin had us over the top! Perfectly baked apples and puff pastry. Vanilla ice cream was perfect, shortcrust pastry very crispy. We also thought the kitchen looked a bit messy, it is an open kitchen. Organized and clean are pleasing to the eye. We will definitely come back again, because we enjoyed it! Thank you!

Very good restaurant! The atmosphere is perfect and you feel like you are in a real French bistro. Smooth and pleasant service and a host who knows everything about wine and liqueurs. The food was all very tasty and the portions were good. Highly recommended!

Old Rijswijk has some pearls, and this is one of them and a relatively new one. Nice traditional French kitchen with modern styling. Great surprising wines as well. Semi open kitchen and great crew. Come back soon I hope. I did!

Want to create an atmosphere like in Paris in the old center of Rijswijk? Yes, that appears to be possible. It was my first visit to this restaurant and it was a pleasure. Attractive and cleverly designed interior. The staff is perfect. Not those disinterested types, but people who really go for it. With attention to visitors and good advice. And with a kitchen brigade that makes it complete. With a varied and extensive menu you can easily find something to your liking, and the chefs make something delicious from it. Pleasantly surprised and definitely worth repeating.

Excellent food and a cozy looking place! It is a shared-dining concept, which is usually a fancy way of camouflaging overpriced plates, but in this case the price ranges were very reasonable. Would definitely come back here during the summer. However, minus 1 star as I am not a fan of pets (dogs) inside a restaurant.

On Christmas Day I enjoyed Christmas dinner with my husband at Bistro le Petit chef. We come there often, for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the special Christmas menu we enjoyed now was delicious. Special, festive and with the always nice, warm atmosphere that we are used to. Enjoyed it immensely!

We have eaten here a few times now, and each time we have been served dishes of very good quality. The atmosphere is friendly and casual. You really feel like you're in France. Really highly recommended.

As a chef, it remains difficult to enjoy food somewhere and to eliminate all critical notes. So I planned to just enjoy the evening. We came in and no coats were accepted, because there is no coat rack or wardrobe. This was crazy coming in, but the appetizer put me on edge. As an appetizer we were given a stuffed egg on a bed of konimex fried onions as an appetizer, which wasn't a problem if it suited our taste palette. The egg just came out of the refrigerator so the flavor didn't come across. Normally an appetizer is a taste enhancer, but here it promised the course of the rest of the evening. We took a baguette with herb butter. Herb butter is very tasty. Steak tartare was gray from the other ingredients, so unfortunately it no longer tasted like meat but mainly like the vinaigrette and the other sour ingredients. We really couldn't taste any meat anymore. They had forgotten us a bit with the starter, but that wasn't so bad, because we had a nice conversation. The French toast with foi gras consisted mainly of a lot of bread with a stray grape and walnut and very little foi gras and did not have the taste and execution that you would expect from fried bread with milk and egg. Maybe because brown bread doesn't absorb all the flavors? We ate the main course elsewhere in the street because we did not have the confidence in the implementation.

I'm a fan of Le Petit Chef, a nice place in a great location with excellent staff, but the food is really substandard. Dishes are small and too expensive, today oeuf bénédictine with salmon really not good, salmon strange thick pieces, two mini eggs and hollandaise sauce at least on a white sandwich for € 16.50 is really not possible ...... Nice in summer on the terrace for a drink with a (too expensive) snack, but that's it.

I've been here many times and the food has always been very tasty. Yesterday I thought I would treat myself to a nice lunch, but what a letdown. The veal fillet was dry and tough, with far too thick a layer of breading and it came straight from the fryer. I don't know where the "cook" who prepares this received his training, but I think at the snack. Too bad, but done for me!

Another wonderful evening in this cozy bistro. Fantastic dishes and they look stunning. The tasty dishes are accompanied by beautiful matching wines. But what makes the visit and dinner so successful is the incredibly warm hospitality of all employees. This made it an unforgettable evening. A place to come back!

The service was somewhere between zero and petit...Just horrible. A friend and I went for dinner and asked for a table. We were told by someone who clearly had a chip on their shoulder that they only had seatings in the conservatory and to just go check it out. It was nice so we sat down and waited for a waiter. We waited....and...waited...and continued to wait. A A gentleman arrived after us and was sat next to us an was given his menu, they took his drink order, brought his drink over and even took his food order all whilst ignoring us the whole time. The staff intentionally avoided eye contact. Horrible experience, we got up and left and ate at a wonderful Italian restaurant just around the corner.

Went for breakfast. Nice interior, cozy bistro vibe. Took a bit long to get our food, but the food was good, would come here again for lunch.

Went there by invitation with family and we (my wife and I anyway) can only say that we were surprised beyond expectations by the entire setting. The cozy atmosphere, enthusiastic staff, involved owners and last but not least... excellent tasty food 😍 In short, highly recommended and definitely worth repeating!

I love to go to this place for a coffee, lunch, or dinner. Really nice and warm interior, ambience, and kind staff. When the weather is good, you can sit on the nice terrace outside. A super cozy place! And I especially love the muffin-croissants :)

An accessible and nice bistro where they serve really delicious food. You will feel like you are in French regions when you choose something delicious from the menu here. We were here for lunch. The French omelette (technically challenging to make) was excellent. Even the croquettes on artisan bread were surprising in taste! Highly recommended!

Classic French with some excursions. Fine wines! It is always very busy. Nice, friendly people in the service. The owner Florian is passionate. Maître Michel is very hospitable and enthusiastic. The first of the year with 5 stars! What a wonderful ambiance in a small street in Rijswijk. Service that still enjoys serving, feels that it is possible that they should join in and ask whether the choices made are the right ones. Highly recommended, and let them choose, it's all delicious!

Very tasty food, a pity that the service does not match this bistro. All dishes were served at once, so some of them were already cold.

We went for breakfast had the croque madame and crêpes. Thé croque madame was amazing and the crepes were good a little lacking in flavour. The ambience and service were phenomenal. Looking forward to trying dinner here. The spot is very nice though. Felt like we were in France.

Cozy atmosphere, with tables that are just a bit too small. That's part of the charm. My dietary requirements were well taken into account (no gluten, lactose, onion, garlic). For me, the dish that my husband and I shared was then adjusted and my husband got the dish as it was intended (possibly with sauce on the side). The food was very good!

Beautiful terrace. We had a nice spot but unfortunately no choice if you come with more than 6 people. There were 8 of us and we were able to get various sandwiches that we could not choose ourselves. However, information was given about dietary wishes (1 vegetarian). However, this was not taken into account. We got half a burrrata ratatouille sandwich and half a croque monsieur. Unfortunately the latter all contain meat. The newly ordered Croque Monsieur without meat unfortunately ended up as an extra on the bill. It was all a bit difficult. Not worth repeating as far as we are concerned.

Group of4 Called in on off chance and had nice table outside. Lovely location in leafy suburb. Food was exceptional. Shared several dishes between us all first class. Host and staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.

This was our second time and we brought the family for my mother’s birthday as the first time was lovely. The food was nice but unfortunately the service was horrible this time. We were sitting for over 1 hour at the terrace and couldn’t order drinks or starters to share. They only gave some complimentary water. The waiters didn’t know how to take the orders, remember them and don’t know the menu or what the French dishes were. We had to take initiative to order kids menu after 75 min and our own food after 90min, everytime if we could order drinks or if they could clean the table and were asked what to clean. 1/5 main courses was forgotten in the kitchen. Since it was my mother’s birthday and she wanted dessert we waited for that. The tea/coffee with dessert took longer than 30 minutes and eventually it really took too long, we didn’t wait for it anymore. The restaurant was not very busy. It’s a cute place to go if service is done well.

Food is consistently good, regardless of a niggle. The place is just right, in terms of design and service. That makes the atmosphere great. And a wonderful location. Both in winter and on sunny days on the terrace.

The attractive interior invites you to relax and enjoy the delicious dishes from French cuisine. We ourselves ate the Coq au Vin and the Bavette (tip: Domaine de l'Arjolle Paradoxe, the heaviest red wine on the menu, is a wonderfully full wine that goes perfectly with the latter dish).

Delicious food, good atmosphere, special dishes prepared with great attention.

Food is fine but a bit pricey. (E.g. apple pie with a dollop of syringe whipped cream 4.80). In addition, ingredients are forgotten in the ordered dish, such as the Cesar Salad where the recommended anchovies were missing. Sometimes you have to wait a while before the order comes through. The terrace is cozy and the interior of the place is tasteful.

Very cozy bistro in the center of Oud-Rijswijk! Nice to have a drink there, nice atmosphere. The interior is sleek, neat, modern but also vintage. Cappuccino was delicious! Tonic from London Essence was great. Baguette with garlic butter was tasty. Nice service. Worth repeating!
