Von A-Z passt hier alles! Das Team ist super, die Küche ist gut, die Atmosphäre ist unschlagbar. Wir hatten einen fantastischen Abend mit noch fantastischer Gastgebern. Andere können sich hier eine Scheibe von abschneiden, man merkt einfach wie sehr das Team Spass an dem hat, was sie tun. Großartige Gastgeber.

Así que encontré un lugar donde el ambiente y el personal ya era súper, incluso antes de ordenar. Luego veo el menú, simple, no demasiado complicado con más de 100 platos. Tengo mi filete y estaba f@#£ng delicioso, cocinado a la perfección (medio raro)... Sólo si quieres un filete en Groninga, este es tu lugar.

The food was so good and so reasonably priced, there space is so cozy and comfy, and the staff was so nice. Our server especially was super attentive, engaging, and overall just really nice. Loved it! First time there and definitely not the last ❤️

We've been a few times now and it always is such a lovely treat. From the service to the food to the ambience it never fails to over exceed expectations. A firm family favourite from the billatong to the succulent steaks to the delicious desserts, we keep coming back for more.

Love this place. Has great foods and some lovely liquor as well. People here are very friendly (except when you consistently show up without a reservation ;)). And therefor (being the hypocrite that I am); I would highly recommend you reserve a spot before going.

One of the best steakhouses I've eaten at. Went in spontaneously on New Year's Eve and were warmly welcomed and given a seat at the bar. The food was perfect! Jerk chicken, burgers, ribs with belly and the sides everything was perfect! Drinks were also very good and if I go to Groningen again I will 100% eat there again. It was a very nice evening with you, thank you very much!

I was there yesterday with my colleagues for evening dinner and I have to say I never eat so good food before , service is great , nice music, cool bar, open kitchen , good prices, 10 out of 10. I am self from Brabant but For sure will come back one time.

Top food definitely worth it, staff is fast and friendly, What is disappointing is the design, it is between a student association and a football canteen! I personally think that's a shame.

On my first Groningen visit my best friend brought me to this place for my birthday, we had an amazing dinner, the owner offered us a drink ❤️ cant wait to be back

The quality of the food was excellent, although my personal taste is not particularly refined. I thought the hamburger menu was excellent, but the rest of the menu appealed less to me.

One tip is to reserve a table in advance or come early, otherwise you will have to sit at the bar like me and look into the bartender's eyes. Inconvenience 6/10. Affligem blond tap beer: I'm not really a beer expert but I really liked it. with moderate aroma. Beer nerds, order something wet. Steak burger with cheese and bacon on a pretzel bun with fries: meat is Medium rare, perfectly grilled, juicy and tender. It's crazy. The bread is the softest. It can be said that it is the best burger I have ever tasted. Comes with potatoes. Even though I'm a French fries enthusiast, I still liked it. It is crispy and a little seasoned. The sauce that comes with it is on the mayonnaise phase (there is no mayonnaise cult here and how) and it is also seasoned. It's not bad, but I would still add some smoky sauce with some barbecue sauce vibes. Meat lovers should come here, the palette of steaks is a beast. The environment is beautiful. The staff is perfect. Random mention - all customers in this gym are men except me. What a shame.

It's rustic and loud, but by far one of the best meat dishes I've eaten out in recent years. I often get annoyed afterwards when I eat beef outside, but here again at any time. Worth every visit! The service was nice, quick and rounded the whole thing off perfectly

But after indicating we got extra side dishes and the meat could be cooked to medium. Is very nice and cozy. Recommended!

I ate a delicious "piece" (T-bone 500 grams) of meat and my wife had a tender and juicy entrecôte. Both cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is casual, a bit rough. And I love that!

A nice place to spend an evening with friends enjoying delicious food and drinks. I consciously say that it is fun with friends because the ambiance feels a bit 'canteen-like'. A lot of noise and you sit close to each other. Cozy, but in my opinion a bit lopsided in relation to the price. I would not easily choose this tent for a 1-on-1 dinner. The service was fine. We were treated kindly. Due to the crowds, it sometimes took a while before we could order. All in all a good eatery. For me it's somewhere between four and five stars, but I'm leaning more towards four now. Be sure to come back soon and perhaps the dynamics of the evening will be slightly different. In any case, the food is great and that's the most important thing!

What a terribly good thing this is, we had a wonderful evening with a few friends. Food very good, staff very friendly and pleasant, atmosphere great, plenty to drink, in the middle of the city. Perfect 👍

Delicious steak on shaky tables

Sfeer is prima, al staat de muziek veel te hard. Personeel doet een beetje ‘populair’ (bijvoorbeeld de pinautomaat op z’n hoofd leggen). Het eten niet goed, allemaal vlees besteld en allemaal laten liggen met later buikklachten. Het was ook zo donker in de zaak dat je de stukken pees niet weg kon snijden. Prima sfeer om een biertje te doen, maar van het eten niet teveel verwachten.

Het is meer een restaurant om met vrienden bier te drinken en vlees te eten. Met 3 vrouwen samen was het gezellig, maar de muziek stond veel te hard om elkaar te kunnen verstaan. Tevens was het vrij donker en zag je niet wat je at. Wij hadden 3x bavette besteld en vonden het alle 3 niet lekker. Het vlees zat vol draden en was slecht te kauwen. Hebben er alle 3 buik klachten van gehad. De sfeer is wel leuk om wat te drinken, maar het vlees viel enorm tegen. De bijgerechten waren lekkerder.

Ordered a beef burger from the food truck at Noorderzon today. The burger, from blaarkop cows, was rare, and not medium. And yet with a brandy taste. A great shame for the good meat. That could be better. Pre-cook the meat at home, or whatever. A hamburger is not a steak. Must be done. Despite the time pressure.

Never say never. Var forbi på forretnings middag. Fik denne gang en bedre service og fik faktisk maden inden for rimelig tid. Kvaliteten er stadigvæk kun middel.. RIB eye`n var af en tykkelse hvor det var lykkedes at stege den medium rå. Skulle den have været krog modnet, så skulle den have hængt et par uger mere. Mør kunne den ikke betegnes at være.

Tenemos bin a un montón de restaurantes en Groninga, y este es uno de nuestros favoritos. La ubicación es absolutamente impresionante, especialmente si te sentaste fuera entre los edificios, si te despiertas allí podría ser cualquier país. Tienen una excelente selección de cervezas incluyendo 4 o 5 IPA’s como entrada elegimos el pan de pita y las alitas de pollo, muy sabrosas! La carne, la carne es absolutamente deliciosa, tuvimos el filete Rump y filete de la percha en la mediana y la fueron perfectos! Y como guarnición be&be papas fritas con mayonesa ahumada, perfectamente crujientes. Como postre, sí, todavía quedaba algo de espacio y era mi cumpleaños de niñas, tuvimos Teramisu y galletas bough & ice, de nuevo delicioso! Y como último, gran personal, muy amable y servicial! Puedo recomendar este lugar para hacer el check out y tener una buena cena.

Great place if you are looking for beer and meat. Roof terrace looks nice, service super friendly and nice. Food was fine, not fantastic, but was also very busy that evening. Atmosphere okay, too noisy due to the crowds and we could barely hear each other.

The rib eye was not as good as I expected. For the price, it was very chewy. Dips were nice and the tiramisu was actually really good

The meat boards are highly recommended. We ordered 3 different plates and received extra plates to share. Overall the food was tasty, but some pieces of meat such as the chicken and a few spare ribs were a bit dry. We sat outside and it was warm, but cozy.

Block & Barrels is probably the best steakhouse around. The variety of cuts is fantastic, and each one is perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Their beer selection is top-notch, too. The service is excellent - attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. A must-visit for any meat lover!

Prima maaltijd, was fantastisch. Ook vriendelijke en goede bediening. Wat jammer is dat ze geen ventilatoren aan het plafond hebben want ondanks buiten eten was het erg warm.

Ok, sorry for the terrible review just hoping we can go on the wall of shame. Best restaurant in Groningen, without a doubt. Love to go here on weekends to get the full English. Evenings are usually sold out, with good reason. Great beers, great food, super nice personnel. When walking in (or out) have a laugh at the wall of shame of bad reviews....... Love you guys, see you next weekend

Overhyped and overpriced..half my steak was fat after complaining I got told that’s just the cut you received,appauling attitude at a €40 ribeye, the jerk chicken to start was as dry as ghandis flip flop, there so much better to eat close by..

The facility has a semi outdoor terrace for those who love to eat or sit in open spaces as well as an enclosed section too which is very cossy and comfortable. The have very good and delicious steaks as well as other dishes and the prices are quite moderate. The dessert was awesome in taste and presentation. Finally the staff are very friendly

The burgers 🍔 were really delicious, nice and juicy and well grilled, and the tiramisu was also really home made and delicious. Highly recommended!!!

Beautiful location. Because we were with a group, it was stated when booking that it would be a shared dinner. Various starters on a snack board and then different types of meat on a board. Great in taste. Everyone could choose dessert for themselves. We had a lovely seat on the terrace. Later that evening the heaters came on.

Very tasty meal. Service good, staff assertive. Very large restaurant, suitable for both large groups and with a partner. It does detract from the atmosphere a bit, it makes you feel less private.

Only place for steak in Groningen! The starter we ordered bbq jerk chicken was really good -tasty and big portion! but the meat was so so. We asked medium but was almost well-done. And l think the meat pieces cuts are somehow not properly done. l expect the outside to be a bit more crunchy than juicy. l recommend cutting meat a bit thinner maybe. The char smell and taste on the steak l liked, l dont know where it does come from because they cook on electric grill. Tiramisu was not good! don’t go for it, ice cream might be a better choice. Ripasso wine was super good! And the staff is quick and very kind, interactive and helpful when you ask help on drinks or menu. But we sat outside and was really crowded, it made very loud somehow, or people after continuous drinking they became loud 😁 it was impossible to have a chat with your friend. that l did not like…

Restaurant in the middle of Groningen. We visited Block & Barrels on the recommendation of our hotel staff and were not disappointed. Great atmosphere that you wouldn't necessarily expect from outside. The service staff was extremely friendly and attentive. We were easily assigned a good table without making a reservation (which you should definitely do). Food and drinks absolutely recommended (especially the steaks!!) Definitely Block & Barrels again next time in Groningen! 👍🏼🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Block and Barrels Only steaks and starters are rated here. For me a must when you are in Groningen. I recommend making reservations, especially Friday through Sunday. The waitresses are very friendly and speak good English, some also speak a little German. The food is a feast, especially considering the still low price range. If you are unsure about choosing the cut, you will receive good advice. The desired cooking point is always achieved precisely. There isn't a huge menu, but the dishes on offer taste great. The only criticism is that it is a bit warm inside in summer. However, there is also outdoor seating.

First of all, the location is really unique. And that includes the extremely friendly and attentive staff including the kitchen. The meat is great and the ribeye steak is one of the best I've had in recent years! Plus a fair price-performance ratio. Lots of exceptional tap beers. A must in Groningen and NL! After our visit in 2019, this was also confirmed in 2021 and 2024. Lastly, with the spacious roof terrace.

We LOVED our evening here. We came to watch the two football games so did quite a few drinks and had dinner here. Everything was 10/10. The incredibly friendly staff, the service in general and the food was AMAZING! We had the best time and can’t wait to come back. Thanks to everyone once again ❤️❤️❤️

Good food, service a bit chaotic and you also notice that in the atmosphere. It's nice to be able to look into the kitchen like this. The prices are high, but the quality is also good. The meat to the bun is simply great. The beer is also tasty and even a good selection on tap.

Sometimes I just need a big piece of really tasty meat. Nice beer on the side, good company. Everything comes together at B&B, life is good here.

Another update (original at bottom😅) : The owner reached out to me and it is clear that he really cares about the customer experience and has a high standard for his restaurant. He immediately offered to see me in person and to find a solution together. I'm definitely open to giving them another chance soon and think this was just an unfortunate evening. Updated review: This is hard for me to write as I usually like to give good reviews. I'm just getting home from my second visit here and had an unpleasant experience with my partner. We ordered the hanger steak on a recommendation. It was not good, very chewy, an odd scent, and generally not what I'd expect from here. The server never checked on us after serving the dish, this could be cultural and I'm open to that possibility. I ate mine from hunger, my partner left hers untouched for the most part. I asked if they could take one off the bill after explaining the situation and they said "sorry, if you said something earlier we could make you something else" I didn't want to argue or cause a scene. I paid and left with I've full steak left behind. Original review: Really delicious burger and unique fries. Easy to recommend. Honestly the best burger I've had in a few years at the very least. Their steaks look really great as well and you could tell the other customers were there for the food. Picky American approved.

In this world of vegetarians and vegen PC is Block & Barrels the last bastion of steak in Groningen. Steak… not just any steak but selected local sourced ‘blarkoppen’. Steak cooked to perfection, Steak that makes you want to scream ‘you need te eat here’ Your average vegan person wont understand that ancient feeling that these steaks give. These steaks dont die two times, unlike you get served in many restaurants. They die a glorious death to be resurrected on your wooden plank served with fabulously delicious crunchy veg and gratin potatoes. This is a restaurant that takes no sht, read the big sign before you come in. I, as a trans person feel sooooo comfortable here. The food really is great. The beer is fab and they offer a selection of tap beers that change on a regular basis of course their standard selection is exemplary. I rarely write reviews, I have eaten here on a regular basis and just think its time you tried it. Just do t tell your friends, I want to be able to eat here without booking. Oh and they have rugby on screen when its a good match.

We were having a pulled pork burger with coleslaw and a steak burger with fries at Block & Barrels and it was really very good. We did not wait long at all and the waitresses were really friendly. Would definitely recommend!
