The food and the service was excellent. We went with the family so they catered the kids (6 of them😊) nicely as well. We were there traveling from Ethiopia and it gave us a really authentic Ethiopian food experience. Highly recommend.

We went to Blue Nile with a group, including six young children. The building isn't very large, but that gave it a very cozy and warm feeling, a kind of living room. The layout is well done; plenty of space. There's also an outdoor terrace, which was perfect for both the weather and the children. The staff was friendly; they let you eat in peace, were very hospitable, and incredibly friendly. The food was an absolute hit with all of us: meat eaters and vegetarians/vegans alike—something for everyone. My lactose and gluten intolerance often pose challenges when dining out, but that wasn't the case here at all. Dear ladies, thank you for everything, and we'll definitely be back soon!

Highly recommend this lovely, neighbourhood restaurant! We ordered take-away, with a tea and beer while we were waiting - which they very kindly gave to us on the house. So nice! The food was delicious, with a great combination of both vegetarian and meat dishes, and the possibility of getting a kid's platter with less spicey dishes which worked perfectly for our son. We'll be paying a visit every time we're in Den Haag!

By reaching Blue Nile, you will have the opportunity to taste the traditional Ethiopian cuisine and my favourite injera - it is so delicious-!! All staff members are very friendly, while waiting for your dish enjoy your drink, and after the meal try the Ethiopian coffee, served in a traditional style!! Thanks to all the crew!!!

What a cosy restaurant! Beautiful African decor. I would recommend the Honey wine, Ethiopian beer and the Key Sega wot. Also buy some coffee beans to go if you are a coffee fan. Loved everything about it.

Visited this place for a birthday dinner. The food and the service were fantastic. The staff was so hospitable towards our group, constantly making sure we had enough food at the table or if we needed our drinks refilled. They answered any questions we had about the menu. The prices are also very reasonable and there are plenty of vegetarian options too! I would definitely recommend going to this place, The food was amazing!!

This place is amazing!!! The food is really really delicious and tasteful and the ladies that run the place are incredibly sweet, helpful and enthusiastic. The quality is great for the price you pay. I will definitely come back here. A real pearl in The Hague!

We went there on a wednesday and it was perfect. You can park in front of the restaurant so that was perfect The restaurant is really cozy with all the Ethiopian decorations. The service was fantastic as the owner is very nice and took time for us to explain what each dish was as we never ate Ethiopian before. sShe recommended us to take item 19 and 20 of the menu (see picture). The food is very tasteful and we loved to be able to eat with our hands. The portions were for us more than enough and we couldn't even finish it. The dessert we had (see picture) was really good. Definitely recommend this dessert and to top it off with some Ethiopian coffee made the experience perfect. Overall, we had a fantstic dinner and experience and I definitely would recommend this place.

La comida era muy agradable. Uno tiene que esperar, ya que la cocina es pequeña con una persona cocinando, pero valió la pena la espera. Yo diría que el precio es alto, ya que el plato vegano mixto era de 22€ y en munich el mismo plato en nuestro nilo azul es de 15€. 50 (que puede ser la diferencia normal en los precios en las dos ciudades, pero todavía me pareció bastante caro. ) hwever, sin duda volvería a ir.

Really small and tasteless portions at dinner ( all of us, 6 people, left hungry) and when we tried to order a second main dish (as we saw one wasn't enough), we were told it would take another 20 minutes on top of the 35 we have waited already, so we gave up. The food wasn't very tasty, the chicken was dry and the bread was a pancake infused with soya. The dessert ( the coffee/banana cream) was a tad better, but equally tiny, literally two spoons. The coffee is similar to normal Turkish coffee served with an incense stick next to it.Nothing impressive. The food was nicely presented, the service was very friendly and l am so sorry for the review, but the food was a total failure. We came to celebrate a special day and it was a letdown.

Very tasty meal. And a nice atmosphere to eat. It gives you the feeling of being in a living room. And the location in the middle of a residential area is also very nice. Also very friendly and helpful service.

Upon entering we were greeted with a friendly nod and we chose a table. We ordered a pumpkin soup, no 10 leg of lamb with spicy red sauce and no 19 the combination dish. Plus a large bottle of 0.75L of friendly priced Pellegrino and Ethiopian beer. The pumpkin soup contained a lot of coriander leaves, which I personally don't like. The two dishes were served on one large platter on the typical brown pancakes. Also add extra pancakes as a base. We received an explanation. Those crepes are quite sour and although this will be originally Ethiopian, you just have to love it. The "leg of lamb" had a very nice taste, but it was not leg of lamb and unfortunately not very tender. The beef could also have been stewed a little longer. The hard-boiled egg that comes with the Doro Key Wot special was not included. Quite affordable with the drinks included. Wim Stal, The Hague

If you are Ethiopian do not go there the owner is absolutely rude for Ethiopian it is not worth your money go to teste of Ethiopia or to savanna restaurant in The Hague very hamble owners just you know I was walking in costumer not everyone have reservations on your restaurant just own it

Food was excellent, would definitely recommend this place for the food. However it took very long to be served, and the place is very poorly ventilated. It was really hot and stuffy, I was smelling like the food until the day after. The issue could have been simply resolved with an open door or something. Additionally, we had booked for 8 people and they didn't have a table big enough (luckily in the end we were fewer, but had we been all there it would have been an issue. Overall good, would not necessarily come back.

I've been eating Ethiopian food for more than 40 years in cities around the world. This is BY FAR THE WORST Ethiopian food I've ever eaten in my life. Half our order didn't show up and what did was tasteless, rubbery and dry. Wow! You should be ashamed.... We paid almost 70 euros for low quality food that was worth about 10 euros.

Delicious food, surprising flavors. Never been to Ethiopia but suspect it comes close to the authentic taste. Very friendly service. The Ethiopian coffee is also recommended.

Heerlijk gegeten, bijzonder smakelijk Ethiopisch eten, zowel het hoofdgerecht als het nagerecht (we hadden geen voorgerecht maar dat zal ongetwijfeld ook heerlijk zijn). De Ethiopische koffie is ook een aanrader! Vriendelijke bediening is ook een groot pluspunt. Kortom: van harte aanbevolen!

The two of us had an excellent meal here. Concise restaurant in the former hairdresser's shop. Atmospheric space, light with windows on two sides. Beautiful card, with photos with pages of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Good Ethiopian beer. Affordable quality. Will definitely come back or pick up.

I never had Ethiopian food before but it was delicious, I took the food to eat at home but when I was waiting for the food in the restaurant (5-10min max) I had a good look around and the restaurant looks beautiful and very authentic !! I was served an ethiopian tea during the wait and the service was perfect, very helpful and friendly. Special mention to the cute candleholders !!

Went there on a Friday Night and even though the restaurant was 60% empty, the service was slow and the restaurant staff couldn't care less about the customers. Really kind service, cosy atmosphere and absolutely delicious food! Really appreciated that they had both gluten-free and vegan options. The gluten-free bread was super nice. It was just perfect!

Unprofessional service and table management. Booked a table for my family at 8 but arrived 15 mins early. Was told to wait outside even though there were empty tables inside and felt mistreated as was with a 2 year old child and still the manager didn't accept. At the end decided to cancel reservation as manager was thankless and completely rude to us. Don't visit if with a family and if expecting good customer service. Didn't eat the food at all

One of the best in which I have eaten in the Netherlands

Really delicious food. We had the Blue Nile Special platter and the Tibs + Kitfo special platters, plus Buna Crème desserts… everything mouthwateringly good, it really blew us away. Great for people who want lots of flavour but not excessive heat. Plus the service and atmosphere really made us feel like we were enjoying a home cooked meal from some loving family.

Enjoyed this first experience with Ethiopian cuisine!! Will definitely come back again to share this culinary experience with others.

Incredible flavors, perfectly spiced for European palates. Loved the simple yet stunning decor. The Injera here is the best I’ve ever had, and even my kids couldn’t get enough of it. The coffee is a must-try – truly exceptional. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but totally worth it for the quality. Highly recommend!

Really authentic food. Really something different and very very nice. Big recommendation.

My children went last week and raved about the experience. So they took “the parents” earlier today. The food was very tasty when it was finally served. However, the service was absolutely disappointing. The server couldn’t or didn’t really care! Had to ask several times for simple requests (glass for the drink, spoons, napkins etc). It seemed that she was completely absent from her service role. The food also took really long to prepare - if they were short staff, I would have expected a heads up whilst ordering. Ironically the whole service aspects really ruined the whole experience.

I went here with my friend and husband and we loved the food. My friend is in love Injera now. The ladies there are so sweet. We wanted to know where to buy a particular Ethiopian spice from, and they gave us some from their kitchen The Ethiopian coffee is a totally different experience in itself with caramelised popcorn. I couldnt try to desserts this time but definitely will when we come back.

Onze verwachtingen waren hoog gespannen gezien de prachtige reviews, maar jammer genoeg kunnen wij die niet delen. Vooropgesteld, wij eten graag met onze handen, maar dat is bijna onmogelijk met het Ethiopische brood, een soort dunne pannenkoeken, het eten valt er heel gauw uit en dan miste ik een klein bord, zonder valt het eten op tafel. Heel gezellig, onze twee gerechten werden samen op een langwerpige schaal geserveerd, alleen jammer dat deze koud was zo koelden de gerechten heel gauw af. Ook het nageleverde brood was koud. Uiteraard hebbenwij hier iets van gezegd en het antwoord was: dat hoort zo. Jammer maar ik hou niet van koud eten. Mijn partner at Doro Key Wot + Sega en was daar tevreden over. Ik nam Tibs lamsvlees en dat was zeer teleurstellend: het vlees was droog, hard en met zeenen. Tevens had het net zo goed Turks kunnen zijn met de overvloedige paprika en ui. Het voortje Sambusa Misir was er alleen in de vegavariant en die was bijzonder en smakelijk. Van de desserts kan ik de Buna Crème aanraden, de Tiramisu klopt helemaal niet.

We hebben hier lekker gegeten! We hadden nog nooit Ethiopisch gegeten dus we wisten ook niet wat we konden verwachten. Leuke ontdekkingsreis in een andere keuken met allemaal nieuwe smaaksensaties. De serveerster was heel vriendelijk, legde alles goed uit en hield rekening met onze voorkeuren (vlees en vega gerechten op twee aparte borden). Naast diverse vleesgerechten hebben vegetariërs en veganisten ook genoeg keuze. Er wordt gekookt met verse ingrediënten. Zeker een aanrader!

A very cute little restaurant! The food was delicious and our server was great about answering questions. I love that there are several platters where you can try several different foods in one meal. Would definitely come back on our next visit to The Hague.

Onze eerste Ethiopische eet ervaring was fantastisch. Dit restaurant heeft een leuke vibe, erg gemoedelijk en op een leuke plek. Wij hebben buiten gezeten in het zonnetje. Op verzoek gevraagd of het eten snel kon doorkomen, ivm met het hebben van weinig tijd. Het eten was er binnen no time en erg lekker. Wij eten bijvoorkeur vegan, we waren erg blij verrast met de grote hoeveelheid opties voor vegan en vegetarische gerechten. De Ethiopische witte wijn was tevens ook erg lekker een aanrader! De medewerkers waren erg vriendelijk en erg benieuwd naar onze ervaring, ik voel een warm hart voor hoe men hier met passie bezig is met eten en de interactie met gasten. De setting is een beetje romatisch dus zeker een aanrader voor een leuke date🌹

Heel leuk om een keer iets anders te proberen en het heeft ons positief verrast. Aardige bediening en zalig eten. Veel smaken uitproberen. Samen bord gedeeld met allerlei verschillende gerechten. Ik ga hier nogmaals heen.

Ik heb hier met een groep vrienden gegeten. Gezellige en relaxte sfeer met heel aardig personeel. Dit was voor ons de eerste keer Ethiopisch, en we waren allemaal onder de indruk; het eten was heerlijk. Ook zijn er tal vegetarische en veganistische opties! Ons eten werd op één grote plaat geserveerd, wat er indrukwekkend uit zag. Het enige minpunt hiervan was dat het vegan gerecht naast de vleesgerechten lag. Het liefst hadden we het vegan gerecht op een apart schaaltje ivm kruisbesmetting. Als afsluiter unieke Ethiopische koffie. Wij komen hier zeker terug! Edit: Voor een tweede keer geweest en bij aanvraag werd het vegan gerecht netjes op een apart bord geserveerd. Opnieuw heerlijk gegeten!

Heerlijk en bijzonder gegeten, de smaken en het mondgevoel is anders dan je gewend bent (let op de botjes in het vlees!) maar zeer smaakvol. Lieve bediening die het ontzettend goed bedoelde maar nog in een leercurve zit. En een chef die op aangeven van een serieuze allergie gewoon al het eten van de avond voor alle gasten erop aanpaste. Hoe lief is dat (en niemand die het verschil gemerkt heeft). Aanbevolen dus!

Took a very long time to get our food, Had to wait 1:15h for 2 dishes and we saw that two other tables who came in after us were served before us. Compared to other Injera restaurants the portion sizes were much smaller, but the quality was good.

Lekker ethiopisch gegeten. Leuke sfeer. Veel keuze voor jong en oud. Injera is glutenvrij verkrijgbaar. Helaas wel kruisbesmetting , doordat de wott op een glutenvolle injera ligt. Ik eet alleen glutenvrij, dus voor mij geen probleem.
