Ethiopisch Vegetarische Restaurant Awash Valley in Wijk 28 Centrum

The food was varied and delicious, with an excellent mix of flavours. Fantastic vegetarian food! The staff were enthusiastic about the food and happy to advise. They also have some home-roasted Ethiopian coffee that they have great knowledge about, but when we got it home it was a bit stale.

The restaurant appears to be permanently closed. We had made a reservation via the website and confirmation was received via email (automatically). We were standing in front of a closed door, called the restaurant and it turned out that the restaurant no longer exists but has been transferred to a new owner..

We have twice now made a reservation in the last few months, and both times the restaurant was closed when we arrived. We never received communication that it would be closed.

Were told that the number belonged to the old owner. The window says they are closed until July 10th. It is now July 26th. Particularly disappointed as it was for a birthday.

Today I had a spiritual experience from a plate of food. The prices are extremely fair here and the portions are incredibly generous. Our server was so friendly and was eager to share with us about the food from his home. He listened to the flavors we enjoyed and made a selection based on that. We got a huge platter of food and not a single thing on that plate left me feeling “… it’s okay…”. This was my first time experiencing Ethiopian food, but once was enough to say that the meal I had at Awash Valley was the most amazing food I have ever ate. DO NOT HESITATE to stop in if you’re even slightly considering it. I had to literally call home in the middle of my meal to tell my husband how incredible the food was. I will be back!

The food was delicious and full of flavor and the portions were large. Many of the vegetarian main courses are also vegan. The service was also absolutely great. The owner told us a lot about Ethiopian food and culture. I will definitely come back again!

Bezoek: april 2023. Diner, twee gasten, twee vegetarische hoofdgerechten. Vriendelijke bediening, ruime keuze vlees, vega keuze beperkt. Schoon restaurant. Sfeervolle gevel. Maar mijn persoonlijke smaak miste ik qua interieur de link met Oost Afrika. Mijn mening: Persoonlijk aardig bekend met de Oost Afrikaanse keuken. Gerechten smaakten goed. Miste enkel de kaas uit die streek (of vergelijkbaar).

Eerste keer Ethiopisch en dat was me wel een avontuur. Dit is de authentieke Ethiopische keuken met uitleg en bijpassende verhalen van de eigenaar erbij. Vraag om de honingwijn, die is verrukkelijk. En de Ethiopische biertjes zijn ook niet verkeerd.

Vorige week in dit restaurant gaan eten op de eerste dag na heropening. Erg goede ervaring! De eigenaar was uiterst vriendelijk en duidelijk trots op zijn land. Belangrijker nog, het eten was veelzijdig en van erg goede kwaliteit.

Super chill place, with very nice people. We got to try a wine which was sweet and fruity. The samosas and the meats were delicious. Ethiopian food was worth a try and I definitely recommend it.

Bijzonder restaurant waar je de oorspronkelijke gerechten van de Ethiopische keuken kan ontdekken. Veel aandacht voor de gasten!

Erg genoten van ons bezoek. Heerlijk gegeten, niks op aan te merken. Het restaurant zag er ook luxe uit. En voor de koffie liefhebbers is het zeker een aanrader. Voor herhaling vatbaar!!

Hier vaker lekker en authentiek Ethiopisch gegeten en vooral de uitermate sympathieke en behulpzame gastheer verdient een dikke pluim!
