Disgusting place the food not nice and we saw a rat inside

The food is not as described on the menu. The "smashed burgers" are pathetic. A white plate with a hamburger on it......... No salad, nothing, zilch. And extremely expensive. The drinks are also extremely expensive, and you don't even get the actual brand listed on the menu.

The prices are high compared to the meal.

First time in Amsterdam. We wanted to grab a quick bite before heading home. That's how this odyssey began in this unassuming restaurant. A constant musty smell emanated from the restaurant (we were sitting outside), which we initially mistook for the nearest side street, but that wasn't the case. A clumsy server who inadvertently dismantled the interior. We ordered drinks and received Aldi or Lidl Coke in an IKEA glass and a bottle of water without even a glass. We were astonished from the very first sip that Pepsi in Amsterdam tastes like River Coke in Germany. The set menus were no better, thankfully. A small frozen lasagna from a discount store, an unseasoned smash burger, and two unseasoned, pan-fried chicken schnitzels with a handful of fries that were also unseasoned and appeared to have been fried three times. The salad consisted of a few stalks of arugula, a limp cucumber, a rotten tomato, and ONE olive from a jar. ... We're almost 40 years old, and it was by far the worst meal we've ever had in a restaurant. My partner got scared of food poisoning right away. The food was served on half-cut wooden boards. Cutlery was provided in an old, dirty instant cappuccino can. The real kicker came with the bill: the smash burger and lasagna were €2 more expensive than listed on the menu, and the "grilled" chicken breasts were a whopping €5 extra per meal. Every drink, whether cola or water, was €4.95. The most expensive River Colas of our lives. A bottle of water cost 19 cents. A pretty hefty profit margin for the place. Before we paid, we checked the prices on the board at the entrance against the prices on the bill and pointed it out to the server. After a few stammering words, they asked for a moment to correct the mistake. They handwritten a change from €20 per chicken breast meal to €17. Which was still more than what was on the menu. With a friendly "Is that right now?" the corrected bill was placed on the table. We looked expectantly into the eyes of the older waitress, who apparently gave us a moment to consider it and disappeared back into the restaurant. After agreeing that we wanted to leave this disastrous place as quickly as possible, we paid the corrected, but still excessive, amount and left without a word. We urge you to avoid this place at all costs or, if you ask for the bill, to call the local police immediately. It's a complete tourist trap.

Excellent service, they speak Arabic, and the food selection is lovely.

The price of €24 was unreasonable considering the amount of food. I honestly felt like I had been scammed. I kindly ask you to review this matter and reconsider the charge.

Probably the worst restaurant in Amsterdam. What a mistake we made going to this restaurant without checking the reviews first. The food is nonexistent, just very low-quality frozen dishes at an exorbitant price compared to what's offered.

After more than a thousand reviews, I can say this was the worst. We ordered three sandwiches and four Cokes, and they brought us four glasses of cheap, already-filled Coke. They cost almost €7 each… and the three sandwiches barely had any toppings, about 12cm of bread. The total bill, after waiting for more than 40 minutes, was almost €60. We will never return, and I recommend that you read everything carefully, as they serve you large items even when you don't ask for them, just to charge you more. We felt ripped off, and I absolutely do not recommend it. There are many places nearby where you can eat better for less than half the price. (I didn't take photos because we were in a hurry, and it took a long time to get our sandwiches.)

The prices are high and the portion sizes are too small for what they charge. The Taste was good. If you order a large soft drink it just means you will get a larger glass but more ice... Not more soft drink. Will probably choose a different restaurant next time.

My friends and I visited this place a few weeks back on a Monday evening, not much crowd so the atmosphere was nice. We ordered a pizza calzone which was delicious, it's a bit more on the expensive side though and the food did take a bit more time to arrive but I'd attribute that to the smaller staff and the time to cook. The waitress who served us was awesome, she was very inviting and friendly and we also had a light talk. Overall just a nice vibey place to visit if you're looking to get some food in Amsterdam.

Super bad food, bad location and unfriendly Owners

The food here tasted like it all was reheated - we were also seated outside, and there were way too many people walking by (obviously) I would not recommend this place.

I had high expectations for this Italian restaurant, but unfortunately it was disappointing. The prices are quite high, and the food quality doesn’t match them at all. Even the pizza, which should be a specialty in any Italian restaurant, was average at best. To make things worse, I was served food on a dirty plate, which is unacceptable. They do offer halal food, which is a positive point, but overall the experience felt very normal and definitely not worth the price.

I tried this restaurant a few days ago; it was very welcoming, with a wide selection of diverse and varied dishes, and the portions were very generous. I highly recommend it.

Awful food for a really bad price. Think twice about ordering garlic bread, it’s just sliced of bread with a slice of cheese and a dash of garlic puree and the pizza was rock hard. I’d save your money and go to a better one just down the road! AVOID THIS PLACE!

Staff here are so accommodating! Made sure there was room for our party of 5. So welcoming! They have variety of food. We all really enjoyed our meals. Highly recommend!

Very disappointing experience. We had three dirty pieces of cutlery before we even started, which set the tone. The food was awful – dry, tasteless, and poorly cooked. The so-called English breakfast was a complete joke, easily one of the worst we’ve ever had. To make matters worse, drinks were ridiculously expensive – €6.50 for a small glass of apple juice! When we complained and asked for a discount (since we couldn’t even eat the food), they only removed a couple of drinks from the bill. The final price was still way too high for such terrible quality. This place is clearly a tourist trap. Don’t waste your money here.

Scam! Frozen pizzas. False advertising. Store-brand Coca-Cola that charges extra for a large size when advertised as medium or large on their menu. They claim it's Halal, but there's no certification or rating. They even charge extra for chili oil for pizza—unheard of! Be very careful!

Disappointing place. Ordered 3 beera. Same beer , coming in different glasses. Pizza base was not cooked. Ordered fish and chips. Fish was over fried. And very small portion of fish. I checked rating only after I ordered food so it's my mistake. Asked Tobacco they bring chilli oil. No salt peper. Toilet was without lock and last cleaned prior Covid. One guy came asking owner if he can charge phone for one minute and owner refused. Please avoid this place. Thank you.

Frozen ingredients. I saw the bottle that's normally Pepsi, but I saw COLA. Two slices of sandwich bread for €4. Steak the size of a ping-pong ball. Restaurant, avoid it, it's disgusting.

A very poor place. It's supposedly in a good location, but it's loud and smelly from the street. The wait for the food is long, and the food is also very poor. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

I often go to restaurants, and this one was a bad choice. Be careful when paying and ordering. You get a Coke from Lidl, one of the cheapest colas. A glass of Coke costs as much as a whole crate of Coke. Very expensive. The food is of very poor quality, and the restrooms are unimaginable. Unfortunately, we went to this restaurant.

The food was very, very bad and not tasty. The kebab and shawarma were not as advertised on the menu. The kebab consisted of two small, unseasoned pieces of meat, and the shawarma was very dry, less than 100 grams. And at the checkout, things didn't go so well either; more items were added that hadn't been ordered.

Yesterday I had a delicious meal and the service was friendly. Afterwards, when I paid, I wasn't happy. I'd been overcharged by €5. When I got outside, I checked the receipt; it wasn't itemized, which I found odd. I checked the price list again and calculated the price, and it was definitely wrong. I didn't go back, I have to admit, but I certainly didn't think it was fair.

Scam, prices are very high, I gor burger and my friends got crispy chicken and pasta, the worst plates we ever got honestly, and when we told the owner he was angry with us and claimed we are the first group to give such feedback, I mean check the reviews here and you will know what I mean

Ordered food at Bon Appétit (Amsterdam Station), and surprise! Got an uninvited guest: a chunk of mold baked right into it. Ate a few bites before realizing, and now I get to play fun biological roulette for the next 24 hours. If I wanted penicillin, I'd go to a doctor. Not a sandwich counter. Disgusting. Do better.

Very disappointed. My escalope was frozen, bread just toasted, and fries cooked in poor-quality oil. A colleague’s bolognese had no meat and a strange texture, another had a “double” burger with tiny meat and bad fries. Staff were rude and unprofessional when we complained.

Made the mistake of not checking reviews before hand. Ordered calzone and garlic pasta. The Calzone had uncooked contents in the middle and was bland, and the pasta was tragic. Garlic pasta was floating in water, with chunks of garlic on top not at all cooking in with the pasta, so it was completely tasteless plain soggy pasta. To add to it we asked for pamesan cheese for the pasta to which we received a small bowl of grated mozzarella. Staff rude when we gave feedback at the end on how poor the pasta was. Wasn't in the slightest bit interested in the feedback, nor did they apologise or offer anything off the bill. Clearly this place relies on one off visitors as nobody in their right mind would go back twice. The inside was also covered in flies which wasn't nice whilst trying to eat. Needed a shower after being there

The food was really nice it is one of the best that i had in Amsterdam. I don't understand why this place isn't higher in the score. The chicken salad, the chicken schnitzel and the savoury crepe was unbelievable tasty.

The Egyptian pizza is very delicious in Amsterdam. The place is great when you eat pizza on the sidewalk with people next to you. I love Egyptian food inside Egypt and outside Egypt as well.

A word of advice: don't eat there if you don't want to be disappointed. The food is ordinary and expensive for what it is. The worst part was when we got the bill, when we saw on the receipt that they'd added €2 to each drink we ordered. Pay close attention to the bill; they don't hesitate to rip off customers. And finally, if you think you can pay separately, forget it; we had no choice but to pay the entire bill and reimburse each other. P.S.: The meat tasted pretty fishy; I'm not even sure what I ate.

Several of us came, we ordered without any problem, but it was only after we'd eaten that the server told us that payment had to be made all at once, and that it was up to us to "sort it out between us." No information beforehand, nothing on the menu, and above all, zero flexibility. But the worst part was that we discovered it after we left: a drink listed as €4 on the menu was charged €6.50! No notice, no justification, just a hidden increase on the bill. Unpleasant service, questionable practices, a complete lack of transparency. A very bad experience. We'll never set foot there again.

We had a great time until payment, when we had no choice but to charge a friend for the meal in one installment (which was later refunded), and then he clearly increased the bill. THIEF!!!!!!

Review of Bon Appétit, Amsterdam If culinary nightmares had a poster child, it would be Bon Appétit. This miserable excuse for an Italian restaurant should be shut down and turned into a parking lot, because it’s a crime against both Italy and humanity. From the moment you step inside, you’re assaulted by a vibe that screams, “We give up.” The decor looks like a garage sale from the ’80s, and the atmosphere is about as inviting as a dentist's waiting room. It’s cramped, dark, and utterly depressing—if I wanted to feel miserable while eating, I would have stayed home and stared at my empty fridge! Now, let’s get to the food—oh lord, the food. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara, and what landed on my plate was a shocking abomination. The pasta was overcooked and glutinous, drowning in a sad puddle of what I can only describe as beige sludge. If that’s carbonara, then I’m the pope! My companion’s pizza arrived looking like it had been run over by a truck—soggy crust, tasteless cheese, and toppings that seemed to have been selected by a blindfolded toddler. It was an affront to everything Italian. And don’t even get me started on the service. It felt like a joke that nobody was in on. Our waiter was nowhere to be found half the time, and when he did appear, he acted like he was doing us a massive favor just by existing. Asking for anything was akin to demanding a pinky swear from a cat—pointless and frustrating. Let’s also discuss the prices, which are utterly ridiculous for the slop you're served. I’ve had better meals out of a vending machine! For what they charge, you'd expect at least an attempt at quality, but Bon Appétit clearly didn’t get that memo. In conclusion, do yourself a favor and steer clear of this culinary black hole. There are much better options in Amsterdam where your taste buds can survive. Bon Appétit? More like “Bon Appétit, Never Again!” Save your time and your money; this place doesn’t deserve either.

Ordered pints of heineken waitress did not state that heineken was not available and proceded to pour cans of amstel into a heineken glass food was disgusting and expensive the place was dirty too 0/10

In town for few hours before catching train elsewhere. Was close to train station and not too packed at close to 11am (many places in area had lines waiting). Seating appeared to be all outside, which wasnt too bad, though sun was at wrong angle, but just bad timing on my part. Did not enjoy all tge rancid smoke smell coming from nearby tables, but again, bad luck on who was sitting nearby. Prices were okay. Had pasta dish, very good and filling. Service was attentivevand friendly and no issues communicating (not from area). Good choice if you need a decent and quick option near train station.

Our food came out hot and quickly. It was delicious! The pizza was thin crust made right. The kebab and shoarma were also delicious. The fries on the platter were right out of the fryer. The servers were polite and spoke English. We don't have pictures as there is no food left.

So called "crêpe" was pretty crap. Super thin, super hard?? It was more like a very sweet wafer. And the omelet had just onions and mushrooms as "vegetables". We specifically wanted the non cheese omellete but it was with cheese anyway. In my reccomendation, avoid!! There are plentyy of better places to go for lunch, save your money. 🙄

A salad was good, it didn't have anything special either, very delicious calzone pizza was juicy, high prices for what I consider but they are Amsterdam Center prices😅. The attention from the girl was very good, good atmosphere, it was calm.

The food is not the best, the service was very good and the lady (Nathalie) who served us was very friendly and attentive. The problem is that the food is of very low quality and the place is not properly cleaned. I saw a rat twice, passing through the bathroom and also through the restaurant itself.

Low quality food. As garlic bread, they provided cold white toast with melted cheese on it, with little to no garlic. Had to ask for cutlery, and the drink was served after the food was eaten.

Food took far too long, quality was poor (Panino even turned up cold) drinks arrived 10 mins after the food was eaten. Prices also unacceptable for the quality and service. Avoid even like us when running from rain storms and long queues of other restaurants.

RUN AWAY We paid 18th for the salmon pasta?? » » and we end up with pasta from the day before and an absolutely disgusting fluorescent orange sauce and of course from a can. The staff is disrespectful, we were placed in the entrance, it was 1 degree and they opened the doors without constantly closing them. My boyfriend ordered shawarma/fries which was not good either and served without sauce? We had ordered water to drink, they gave us glass bottles and we didn't even have a glass.

I only recommend it to those who have a lot of money and little taste. Bland food, poor service. Ice tea costs more than 6 euros, water costs 3 euros, short coffee costs 4 euros. And the worst: the table was dirty. If you haven't settled in yet, run away!

I ordered a salad and carbonara, but some of the salad was discolored and was just torn vegetables covered in sour sauce. The carbonara is also messy. The staff's attitude and taste in song selection are both poor. My worst memory of Amsterdam.

The worst place to eat or drink something. I went there with my husband and a friend, and everything was terrible, and the prices are extremely high for what they serve. The coffee was just plain water with a little bit of coffee flavor and not even Fanta wasn't Fanta. It's water, many ice cubes, and a sprinkle of soda. The food was even worse. The fries are the cheapest frozen fries, burned meat, the soup is again colored water. 🤢🤮

I just wanted to go to the toilet. As always, I asked politely and I'm willing to pay for its use. The service said I should ask the boss or the men behind the bar. The man behind the bar said no. If I want to use it I have to buy a soaked one for it. I bought some water for 3 euros. I wanted to say, hey, I just need to empty my bladder and you're making me buy more water. When I opened the toilet door (pushing it aside) I just thought, I must be mistaken...! It was small and dirty. Luckily I didn't have to sit down ps. It's not Italy that runs this. So don't expect the food to taste good. There is food that doesn't look good but tastes good. And there are foods that you can immediately tell that they don't taste good by their appearance.

Unfortunately, the food is far too expensive, the atmosphere is uncomfortable and it smells musty. We really regretted eating here. To top it off, we noticed afterwards that the bill didn't add up and we were charged too much. (About 10 euros, which we couldn't explain) So a typical tourist trap.

You would expect this quality from a third-rate snack bar, but here it costs as much as a really nice meal. Fun fact: A musty smell occasionally escapes from a floor flap in the back of the restaurant that leads to the basement, which quickly spreads throughout the entire restaurant. Overall, more than unappetizing. Burning your money makes more sense and makes you feel better than eating here.

Often when we visit Amsterdam we go here to eat something. The ratio between price and quality is actually always good. This relatively small restaurant always manages to meet our expectations. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Definitely do it once.

Had passed this restaurant many times and wished id passed it again ordered the chicken snitzel which ive had in several restaurants in Amsterdam but this one was the worst ive ever had it didnt look great but i thought it might taste ok but it tasted worse than it looked it tasted deep fried then reheated in a microwave the chips were cold not freshly cooked the qorst meal ive had in amsterdam. I did tell them when i paid and they did take it off the bill so Thank-you for that but i wont be eating here again 😪

This place was nasty. The owner and the lady was very rude and had an attitude. I ordered Coke but the coke was very flat and they said that's all they had. It was like take or leave it. Also charged me 3.00 Euro for little bit of hot sauce. I don't know how they get this review of 3.2 it should be less than 2 star if any. Well it's your choice to go, maybe you will only go one time in your life time. There are plenty of places you can try near there other than this F.... joint. Good luck.

Pizza with chicken was great, place looks like made by a family because was really tasty. Not a high level of restaurant but tasty. Toilet wasn’t clean though. Service was good - everyone friendly, smiley and attentive. Wish you more clients.

The Paninis on the menu have salad and tomatoes on them but if you order one they only have cheese on them. And the bread is just a baguette that was put in the oven. Also the waiter seemed like he didn’t wanted to be there.

We was there last weekend. And I loved this terrace and view. Beer Amstel from Amsterdam. I have to wait little bit for food, but I saw so many people. But cocktails they brought first.
