Cozy and atmospheric café-restaurant, but dinner was disappointing. €24 for 8 handmade ravioli with a few walnuts and melted ricotta. And then there was a significant error on the bill...

5 stars is not enough to express my appreciation for this wonderful place

We tried fish, entrecôte, ravioli, and fish soup. It took over an hour for the food to arrive, and we waited a long time. There were more locals than tourists. Service needs improvement. Prices are consistent for the setting. It's a good option if you're looking to try Dutch food.

Coffee is good, toilets were out of order...staff is prompt and nice to customers, even if they only know english

Mediocre food, very slow service. I have a different perspective as a parent of young children: we came at 5:30, asked that all food be brought as soon as possible, and most of the food don’t come until 6:50. Considering that the food was ok, not great, it was certainly not worth the experience and cost for our family

A true local place with very nice interior. They don’t have so many options on the menu which is good. The food is well made and the staff are friendly. They are not so attentive though. The restaurant can get busy, so make sure you book a table.

Menu differs from what you can view online. The food is excellent. Had ravioli myself. And what a beautiful ambiance. There is little choice in terms of wines. Service is friendly, yet their clothing is very informal. But worth repeating

Food is good but I found it overpriced. Don’t don’t split the bill, because according to them “takes too much time”. Very weird. Not sure I would come back. Staff very friendly.

If there were 6 stars I would give it..fabulous place..love coming here with my cousin when I'm in town, it's especially meaningful, our mom's used to come here when they were young..in the 40's!! And if that isn't enough, the food is awesome!

What a nice restaurant. Food was delicious. Tasty and fresh. Service was very good. We were with an international group and the young host (“climber”) had an excellent sense of how the hares walked. And made the evening a success. You don't come across enough in the Netherlands. Recommended

Nice ambiance, pleasant service. The burrata (it looked more like a small mozzarella) could be better and an extra piece of bread wouldn't go amiss. The steak tartare was excellent with the tasty little gem on the side. It could have been a bit bigger. Service was excellent and we drank a delicious spatburgunder.

We hadn't pre-booked and the place was full on an April Tuesday evening, but the staff took good care of us and sorted a table quickly. The waiting staff are a bit quirky and hyper, but that adds to the atmosphere of the place, which is nicely authentic. Food is decent quality, though menu relatively limited.

Belligerent and unapologetically rude waiters here. One threw a tantrum as we left after not being accommodated by the restaurant. Fun fact: plenty more down to earth and welcoming cafes/bars/restaurants only 5 mins away. Never returning here, and telling Amsterdam friends to stay far, far away from this unpleasant establishment.

A hidden gem in the centre of Amsterdam. The ambiance, the type of guest that breathe a certain artist joie de vivre, the food and hospitality. Always a delight to visit and a nice ending of a date with my lovely wife. Thank you!

A very atmospheric cafe on Rembrandt Square. In the middle, the interior is in the Art Deco style with beautiful details and cozy tables. Friendly service and delicious food.

Remains a fantastic (dining) café in the heart of the centre. I had forgotten a bit, but here I come back... And I was there again today, to eat before the theater and then for a drink afterwards. Beautiful atmospheric place‼️🎊

Eigenlijk één van mijn favoriete restaurants. Ik ben normaliter zeer tevreden. Deze avond niet. Kelner met rood gestifte lippen gedroeg zich zeer onaangenaam. Ontstond nadat het hem niet lukte om ons over te halen een andere wijn te kiezen (onze keuze ca. 35 euro per fles, zijn keuze 99 euro per fles). Bestelde fles kwam niet echt koud op tafel en zonder koeler. Drie medewerker gevraagd om ijsblokjes. Na de vierde keer hadden we succes. Rest van de avond zijn we door de kelner passief en actief agressief behandeld. Daardoor heeft de prestatie, deze avond door Café Schiller geleverd, eigenlijk een negatieve waarde. Jammer wanneer je zoals wij een 25 jarig jubileum viert. Geen fooi achtergelaten, al hadden de overige leden van de equipe dat wel verdiend.

Welke Amsterdammer kent Schiller niet. Hele mooie ambiance in de stijl van vroeger. Ga er een keer naar toe. Kleine entree, je loopt er zo voor bij, Rembrandt plein

Blijft een heerlijke plek. Echt lekker gegeten. We waren vroeg en er was aandacht voor ons. Toen het drukker werd was dat soms even lastig. Maar al met al een positieve ervaring in deze klassieker.

Prachtig café/restaurant op een plek waar je het niet zou verwachten. Het eten is buitengewoon, de bediening zeer kundig en de wijnkaart zeer compleet. M'n favoriete restaurant in Amsterdam!

Prachtige " kroeg" , klein Tuschinski qua interieur. Snelle ,bijzonder attente bediening in een warme omgeving .

Ze maakten waarschijnlijk weinig latte's ze waren gemaakt met melk uit de koelkast dus bijna koud.

The food was delicious (i took the grilled octopus, the fish of the day and the dutch eggnog - all was delicious). Very nice atmosphere. The service is great with very kind waiters !

I was so disappointed by this restaurant. I really wanted to try an authentic restaurant in Amsterdam, Cafe Schiller was clearly not the right choice. The restaurant was empty, no AC installed inside, it was extremely hot. The service was very bad and the food not worth the price at all. We ended up paying approx. 100 euros for two. We ate fast to leave the restaurant as fast as possible, the ambiance was very awkward. The restaurant must be better managed.

Al 40 jaar mijn favoriete plek in Amsterdam aan het Rembrandtplein. Schilderijen van de oorspronkelijke eigenaar aan de wanden. Een van de mooiste lampen aan het plafond.

Came to check the bar where they filmed a scene of the Dutch series Dirty Lines. Definitely a nice find!

Les plats étaient délicieux mais peu copieux (5 raviolis dans l’assiette si vous choisissez les raviolis sans accompagnement). On ne peut pas payer par liquide donc pensez à votre carte bancaire. Malgré ces petites remarques, cela reste une très bonne adresse. Le décor est somptueux et c’est un restaurant où l’on se sent bien. Pensez à réserver !

Un tradicional café de Amsterdam que sobrevive en una zona muy turística. Agradable, buen trato y buenas cervezas.

Pasamos tres días en Amsterdam y nuestro sitio de copas fue este ..... Muy atentos y serviciales. Un saludo desde Asturias (España)

A cozy little cafe up front with a full restaurant at the back. The restaurant needs prior booking as it’s always busy. The tables up front are available for walk ins. The bitterballen is what we got along with a couple of beers. The service is really good. They would recommend drinks/food if you want to try anything local. The place is easy to get to. There is a separate entrance so you don’t have to go through hotel Schiller. Would recommend this place for local Dutch experience.
