Brasserie SenT in Oude Pijp

Everything is good, but the price is too high for my liking, and the portions are too small, which is a shame. It's still a good restaurant, though!

Any normal person who orders one of their dishes expects what's written on the menu; here they serve minuscule cuts, come having eaten dinner at home or you'll go hungry.

Top. Delicious food. Perfect atmosphere. Sunday night felt like Saturday.

nice food, but not the nicest waitress

The food here is genuinely very good, but the portions are surprisingly small for the price. The octopus, for example, amounted to barely four bites — at other places, the same price usually gets you a full, generous tentacle. It almost feels like they cut it in a way that hides how little you’re actually getting. The beef was also delicious, but again, quite small considering the cost. Even the crème brûlée was the tiniest I’ve ever been served. Another downside was the noise level. The table next to us was talking extremely loudly, which made it hard to enjoy the meal.

We first came here 8 years ago. When we were finally back in Amsterdam, a return visit to Sent was a must. What can we say? The meat was perfect, as always. I've never eaten a comparable Chateaubriand anywhere else in the world. The steak tartare appetizer and the gin and tonic sorbet dessert were also unbeatable. Unfortunately, this time we had a very, very loud group next to us, so it was a bit too noisy. As a result, the server misunderstood something. However, the mistake was rectified immediately. We can wholeheartedly recommend Sent. It's not exactly cheap, but always worth a visit. Thank you! 🙏

Quality - price ratio was quite good for the city, but service was rude. The waiter who brought us food explained some stuff in Dutch and we asked if he could speak in English, he rolled his eyes and left without saying anything. I don't expect chit-chat, just basic politeness.

The lamb was tender and tasty, without any odor. The restaurant isn't very big, but it has a nice atmosphere and is quiet. ^^ The other dishes were all equally delicious.

I’ve been caught by the rating on Google maps, as there are not that many places in Amsterdam that can be proud of theirs lol and it didn’t disappoint. The food was really delicious, we’ve had octopus & tartar for the starters and they were fenomenal! Totally recommend! They’re small, so one per person as a starter would work great, but if you want to be full - don’t recommend. The main dish - ravioli with mushrooms were not cooked well, so I can’t really talk abt them much.

On the most charming street in De Pijp/ Oud Zuid border, this place is so unassuming, cozy, and delivers. The cote de boeuf was perfectly flavored and the chimichurri was excellent. Perfect neighborhood spot and think best steak I’ve had in Amsterdam??

Food would have been 5 stars, but dessert felt like a scam. For 12 euros, berry "Cheesecake" was literally a tiny dome the size of a cookie, and 3 berries. It tasted good but the plate was unacceptable. I love the steaks here. It's a relaxed, unpretentious place to have good food at. Steak for two is 80 eur. Service is casual but fine.

€40 per person for good meat (and it has to be ordered by 2 people, so about €80 for a piece of meat for 2 people, better to venture with your legs to another store)

We came here on a day trip from Amsterdam, with no plans and no reservations. I called just half an hour before opening time, and, thankfully, there was a spot available for us right at opening time, even though they were practically fully booked. We received a warm welcome and were given free seating; our coats were even hung up FOR US. The atmosphere was very cozy and welcoming, with warm and friendly service that felt like old friends. My only criticism is that I think we had every server on duty that evening at our table; unfortunately, I missed the feeling of personal service. Furthermore, it took a bit longer than I'd expected for the food to arrive. But once the food arrived, it was nothing short of excellent. The smoked sea bass was like melting butter, and the leg of lamb was perfectly seasoned with a delicious sauce (for those who prefer it). This is highly recommended, regardless of the price. An absolutely outstanding steak restaurant! 🥩 The meat was cooked to perfection – buttery tender and full of flavor, simply a true feast for the palate. The side dishes and the cuisine as a whole were also fantastic. The ambiance is a dream – stylish, cozy, and romantic at the same time; you immediately feel welcome and at ease. The perfect place for a special evening for two, but also to simply enjoy good food in a relaxed atmosphere.

Intimate, wonderful service, great food!

I visited this brasserie with my partner during our trip to Amsterdam. It was our first dinner there, and we couldn't have asked for anything better. The place has a soft atmosphere, with tables adorned with candles, which makes it all the more charming. We had excellent meat, truly delicious. The staff is fantastic and always smiling. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have lived in the neighborhood for 3 years but have not had the chance to get here until tonight. WOW! How have we missed this?! We started with the ravioli appetizer for 2. The raviolis are so well prepared and textured. They were served in this smoked broth was absolutely fantastic. Then there was the meat! The meat was so tender and delicious. The big green egg just gives it that something oh-so special. I love how they serve the Chateaubriand with béarnaise and chimichurri sauce to give you that choice between creamy and acidic for each bite. The plate that you put your meat on has a pretty little variety of sauce dots on it and a yummy potato thing too for even more variety. Oh and the frites! They were perfectly cooked. All of this served with wonderful wine pairings that our server recommended and finished off with a lemony crème brûlée. We can’t wait to come back!

One of the best meats you can get in Amsterdam. Why 2 stars? Because I left the place hungry. It's not normal to have to share one small portion of fries between two adults when the cart said that my choice included fries. Think about it.

Amazing Lamb and really lovely service

WONDERFUL place. My partner and I came here for a celebratory dinner post-Amsterdam City Swim. The place had a really lovely, cosy atmosphere, and the staff were really friendly. We ordered the steak and fries, which were beyond delicious, accompanied by a lovely glass of champagne and a glass of red wine. We had such a nice evening and have said that we'll need to come back!

Delicious chateaubriand, perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, not to mention the wonderful chimichurri. Great wine options, I love Valpolicella. I personally didn't think the Gin & Tonic sorbet was that great; a splash of Gin over ice, a bit basic. The cheesecake "ball," on the other hand, was a real hit. This is one of those restaurants that knows what they're good at and delivers. Red meat, red wine, great evening!

A restaurant to keep in mind in Amsterdam. Off the beaten path, with a very good value for money compared to the city's average. Good meat with a more than acceptable béarnaise sauce. As for desserts, the most recommended is the Creme Broule.

One of the best steaks I’ve ever had, the chateaubriand is a must have! We started with octopus and steak tartare and those we to die for, the octopus in particular was not chewy at all and had delicious flavor. The wine selection was varied and full of options 😍. The service was impeccable, the servers so fun and amazing, and the owners were so friendly and accommodating, absolutely will be going again.

Always love coming back to this place. Best steak in town by far, handmade chips, well paired wine offering all at a very accessible price. When I want to go out or impress someone, O being them to SenT!

Great service, even better food

One of the most delicious steaks I’ve ever had. It could be slightly softer, was a bit hard to chew but I mostly gulped it down 😀😀 The boned marrow alongside the steak is a very good idea.

The standout of the night was undoubtedly the Chateaubriand—expertly prepared, tender to the bite, and served with a duo of sauces that were luxuriously creamy and rich in flavor. Service was equally impressive. My server, L (regrettably, I didn’t catch the full spelling of her name), was gracious, attentive, and genuinely warm. Will definitely be back!

Go for it! The restaurant serves late, so we were able to dine at 10 p.m.! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The setting is very pleasant in the Pijp neighborhood. And above all, the food is excellent! I recommend the lamb, which was divine! (And it's really affordable, too.)

Wow- we’ve been living in Amsterdam for almost 2 years now and this was one of the best meals we’ve had so far. We had the chateaubriand (exceptional) with sides, plus a bottle of wine and crème brûlée for dessert. The service was very attentive and kind. We will keep coming back for sure.

We ordered the Chiteaubriand steak for two and a starter with smoked salmon and white asparagus. Both were wonderful. The meat was especially super tender, juicy with a nice smoky flavor from the grill. It did come a bit more on the rare side so it’s good to ask first. Good service. Staff were friendly and offered tap water when we tried to order water (which is sadly rare in Amsterdam’s restaurants today).

After years in Amsterdam, I can confidently say this place serves one of the best steaks in town, especially the Chateaubriand. The quality is outstanding, perfectly cooked, super tender and full of flavour. The service is warm, friendly, and genuinely local, making it a cozy atmosphere. Highly recommend!

Update after third visit, my girlfriend took her parents who flew into Amsterdam and we made a big fuss over this place but it felt like they shafted us with their crap left overs, crusty Burny chips etc worth the expensive steak meal and no veg to go with this time . We always get the same meal but this time it barely has sides and everything was less and the service was noticeably worse, as if we weren’t welcome. Huge shame as it was my favourite place to eat when I come to Amsterdam but now I fear it could be a waste of time since I only have a few days in the city when I visit. First and second visit …Had the steak meal and with ravioli starter and I have to say it is probably the best meal I’ve ever had when eating out and the price for two of us was very fair. Better and cheaper than anything I can get in England, very good quality. Me and my girlfriend basically want to come back to Amsterdam just to go back to this restaurant. I just came back two months later and again best place I ate out.

Went here with friends, lovely spot, with very friendly staff and a good atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious on the whole, the Chateaubriand beef I will dream about for a long time. The fish was more bones than meat, and very difficult to eat. As a French inspired restaurant, honestly the main thing missing was bread. If you are charging that much, would be nice to have some good French bread at the table to dip into that lovely Bearnaise sauce. The main issue here is the pricing. 40e per person for 4 small pieces of meat is way too much guys!

Heerlijk gegeten. We waren eensgezind: de steak tartaar was goed en de Chateaubriand met béarnaisesaus was perfect. De frites waren lekker knapperig. Jammer dat er niet gevraagd was of we groenten bij het eten wilden, we hadden niet gezien dat dit apart besteld moest worden. De bediening was efficiënt, maar had wel een gastvrijere houding mogen hebben. We vonden de akoestiek slecht, het was behoorlijk lawaaiig. Al met al toch een hele fijne avond gehad en heerlijk gegeten.

Staffs are friendly, grilled pork chop and lamb are delicious, cooked perfectly and meaty. Ravioli is okay. Had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner.

Cute, understated place. Most importantly, the Seabass was as good as any I have had, and my friends agreed. Beautifully prepared, delicious, perfect.

Ce restaurant français est des plus recommandables. La salle est un peu bruyante car petite et notre serveur était pour le moins un peu ( trop) décontracté, mais les plats sont de qualité, les viandes de haut niveau et cuites à la perfection. Les tarifs nous ont semblés un peu trop élevés , surtout au niveau des vins. Une bonne soirée à deux mais ne comptez pas une une grande intimité, les tables étant très proches les unes des autres.

El servicio era increíble y el chateaubriand era de alguna manera incluso mejor! Un restaurante encantador tanto para parejas como para grupos más pequeños, con un tacto muy personal y un servicio cálido. La comida era excelente y el valor era inigualable con cualquier otra comida que tuvimos en Amsterdam!

Restaurant was cold, especially for early reservations like us. I did not find staff welcoming and warm. Octopus in starters has even less than one leg with a nice green dressing and souces. If you order meet, be prepared to be served very rare if this is not your preference. Because it has served without asking. Probably preset.

Myself and my fiance visited Brasserie Sent in February 2024 and even now in 2025 we still talk about the chateaubriand being the single best meal we have ever eaten. We will visit Amsterdam again in the coming year to sightseeing but more.importantly visit Brasserie SenT again. If I could give this restaurant a 100 stars out of a 100 I would it's just that good.

This Brasserie is a real gem, make sure to tell nobody about it so it remains our secret ;) Seriously, the Chateaubriand is out of this world. The service is fantastic by the friendly and prompt staff. The pork starter (forgot the exact name) and crème brûlée dessert are also amazing. Maravilloso restaurante familiar que dio la bienvenida a nuestra fiesta de 6 (con 3 niños de 14 años o menos) en la concurrida víspera de Año Nuevo. Los filetes a la parrilla eran increíbles y devorados por nuestros exigentes niños de California. Todavía estoy pensando en la terrina y voy a perseguir ese plato para siempre. Servicio cálido y elegante, bar completo y una encantadora carta de vinos. Estamos agradecidos por la hermosa noche de celebración en este establecimiento.

Atmospheric restaurant in a nice place. Menu is quite limited, especially if you don't eat red meat. In terms of fish, the only thing on the menu is a whole sea bass, which is quite a job to eat, with all the bones. But very tasty. If you like red meat, there is more choice. Desserts are also limited in choice. The wine list is extensive and there are also good cognacs and whiskeys on the menu.

My favourite spot in Amsterdam. small menu hides behind it lovely well cooked food from the charcoal bbq, served with friendliness in a cosy local space. Just go!

A delicious traditional gem in the heart of the De Pijp neighborhood, this place is one of the most high end bistros in terms of quality food in a casual setting. The wonderful smells just keep coming from the kitchen throughout the entire night. On top of that, lovely people who manage this. One of the most authentic places still left in this area of town.

Heerlijke zaak. Ongedwongen sfeer met vriendelijke bediening. Meeste gerechten worden bereid op de BBQ, wat het een heerlijke "smokey" smaakt mee geeft. Vooraf de Octopus (werg goed); klapstuk van de avond was toch wel de Côte de boeuf. Echt genoten!

We had really high expectations due to the high rating and featuring in many blogs but were disappointed. Food was good but the meat was not cooked as requested. We were placed at high tables for dinner which we do not appreciate when booking ahead without getting options. Service was poor and the small room very crowded and loud. We usually conduct hours of research for the best restaurants but unfortunately it did not meet our expectations.

Terrible experience at Brasserie SenT. Don’t ever go to this restaurant. The service was so terrible that nothing else was enjoyable and it destroyed my night of celebration. The waitress was completely RUDE AND RACIST. She was looking down on us, rushing us, taking wrong orders and dropped food from another table on two of my friends. One cashmere pullover, a jacket and a pair of white jeans destroyed. Was anything offered to compensate our nuisance? Absolutely nothing. Any normal establishment would’ve offered a dessert/coffee/drink on the house. Because the order was wrong, they charged us incorrectly, so we were trying to get it right. The waitress started screaming at me, interrupting my sentences, which put me in a completely awkward position, as the entire restaurant was starring. Go to McDonalds and you will have a better service. A complete nightmare. I’ve never been treated so disrespectfully.
