For years, we've been able to buy authentic Kroes Duivekaters here. What a luxury! Always friendly service, despite the crowds. Now this baker is closing down due to retirement. We wish you all the best. But they've made sure that Duivekaters will be available at Bakker Kaandorp starting in 2025. Excellent. And yes, they cost €10, a fair price for such a delicious, large loaf. All the best, greetings from a true Duivekater fan since 1950

I find it so strange that you have to pay an extra 20 cents when paying by card! You rarely see this anywhere anymore. Customer service could also be better. The buns were a bit dry. The store's appearance also looks a bit dated.

I just bought it there, but it was cold, hard, and tasteless. There was barely any cheese in the ham and cheese croissant, and the rest was inedible. The atmosphere was chilly, and I don't think the woman working there was particularly happy with her job.

Delicious bread, good service! Pigeon hangover to enjoy, but be sure to order in advance because they are gone before you get there. Delicious fresh bread every 2 weeks on Saturday, but I don't come there on Thursday and Friday.

Yesterday afternoon we went to this bakery via Nieuwendam from Leiden!!!!!!!!!! We wanted to buy this for several people with memories of the old-fashioned pigeon tom...... but no, closed. On the site, etc. etc. is clearly open until 5 p.m. and we were there at about 4 p.m. very angry and very unfortunate. Then put it on the site.

Bought another pigeon tomcat this Christmas (2021). Unfortunately a disappointment. Dehydrated the next day, really dry! Not what I'm used to from this bakery. Just called after Christmas. Response as disappointing as the bread itself. "We haven't had any complaints yet" (so 🤔?? That's not the norm, is it?) The lady on the phone didn't really listen, no conversation possible. Tried but led to nothing. Customer unfriendly and no awareness of how to deal with customers and complaints. Case of pity.... When I read reviews now, this is not the 1st time!

Very customer unfriendly, don't expect service from these people. Last Monday evening I emailed whether it was possible to send 2 pigeon tomcats, and received an immediate response on Tuesday morning with a request for payment so that they could also be sent immediately on Tuesday. Paid immediately around 10 a.m. in the hope and actually under the assumption that they would be sent that same day. A few days later, after not receiving any more emails, I emailed to see if they had already been sent. Because there was no answer back, I called to check on the status of the order. “Yes, sorry, we are too busy in the store and I can't help you right now,” said the rude employee on the phone. Last Saturday I decided to call to see if they had already been sent (after waiting a working week). The same woman on the phone replied that they were very busy and she could not check the system to see if they had been sent. After all, a colleague was sick and the 2 of them (remember, 2s) now had to keep track of the entire store. He decided to come and pick them up personally, from Veluwe, so that he could eat the pigeon hangovers at Easter. When we arrived, it was (call it a coincidence) not very busy at the bakery, there was no one in the store. It is striking that there were 3 employees in the store, perhaps a colleague had quickly responded after the call 1 hour ago (?) When he arrived and said he had called an hour ago, the atmosphere changed from a frank greeting to an unpleasant atmosphere. The pigeon tomcats cost €7.55 each, luckily I got the shipping costs back with a big sigh. In the meantime, the pigeon tomcats were put in a box, after which I counted my change and noticed a difference between the value of the pigeon tomcats and the amount paid - shipping costs. Just checked, it turns out I paid €1 per box? So of course I indicate that I don't need those boxes. “You have already paid for shipping,” after which I indicated that I would now pick them up (also because they had not yet shipped them after 5 days). “Yes, I'm not going to refund everything, couldn't you have thought of this in advance? Yes, you certainly didn't think of that, did you", unfortunately you immediately realize what unsympathetic people and especially a lack of empathy they have... Of course I didn't need that box, so after a 'yes-no-yes' discussion I was very rudely refunded the final difference... customer friendliness is really hard to find here, which is a shame.

This bakery has the tastiest Duivekaters in the entire world. I was very happy that this bakery continued the real Kroes Katers. However, the service is terrible. We were literally told that we could buy the Duivekaters whenever we were near Purmerend. We were not told that we had to order them. Now I wanted to drive by and called them anyway (to ask if one Duivekater could be put in two bags) and was told that they didn't have any at the moment and that we had to make a reservation. So if they cannot meet the demand, I would say sell the recipe to a baker who can meet the demand, or temporarily expand production? The owner does not listen to customers and snaps at them. Instead of putting on her sackcloth. Because if she had done that, I would have understood it and I would have driven to Purmerend separately, but because she indicated that the company would never have said that we could just drive by, without ordering, we will probably go will not go to this company again! Too bad about the Duivekater, but that's the way it is. Unless the company calls/emails us and comes up with an excuse, then it's okay as far as I'm concerned. Furthermore, the site does not state that you must order first. And in a strange place under 'news flash' it states the delivery costs, which I suspect includes one or more Duive tomcats and not just the delivery costs!? It was honestly stated that delivery would not be an option at this time due to... the too long delivery time. I would modernize the site somewhat, but hey, I'm not the Duivekater...

Very tasty bread, not comparable to supermarket bread. The bread gets stale a little faster because it is not stiff from the preservatives. Freezing it (or eating it quickly) is no problem. Recommended!

Customer unfriendliness is of paramount importance. on 18-12-2018, it was my turn, can I have 2 pigeon tomcats from you, HAVE YOU ORDERED? no, I don't know that it is necessary.. YOU MUST ORDER THEN SO WE CAN TAKE IT INTO ACCOUNT!! the employee snapped at me with great job satisfaction.

I just got some bread and pastries at the market. The bread is soggy and tasteless. The pastries are soft and tasteless.

It's a shame that bread is bought to order, because "they probably can't do anything about it" and you end up with a sandwich with a big hole in it, and they often take the small sandwiches out of the bag, which is a bit of a shame, I don't pay for bread like that, so I have to look for another baker.

On December 24th, I went to this bakery, or rather, I tried to. My children were in the shopping cart because the stroller had to stay home; otherwise, the groceries wouldn't fit in the car. The door said that shopping carts weren't allowed, but since there were only two people inside, I thought I'd quickly grab something. I was immediately told that the stroller had to stay outside. When I explained that I couldn't leave my children outside and that taking them outside wasn't an option (they take everything in the store), I received absolutely no empathy. They literally said, "You're welcome the rest of the year, but not today, this Christmas." Any further explanation I received was ignored. I truly felt unwelcome. What makes this even more galling: a twin stroller would have been even wider, and a simple solution like asking what I needed and quickly getting it wasn't even considered. Rules are rules, but a little humanity—especially around Christmas—is to be expected.

While the menu has potential, the execution is disappointing. Dishes are often out of stock, and the cleaning service starts at 3 p.m., meaning you can't order everything. You keep hearing that they're "changing the menu." Furthermore, the customer service is lacking, and there seems to be little experience in the hospitality industry. It's a shame, because it could have been so much better. The older staff seem out of place and clearly lack experience in hospitality and service. P.S. I've never had such a flimsy toogoodtogo bag; it should be at least 15 euros, and it really wasn't 😂
