Echte Bakkers Harry de Groot in Wijk 07 Weidevenne

On December 24th, I went to this bakery, or rather, I tried to. My children were in the shopping cart because the stroller had to stay home; otherwise, the groceries wouldn't fit in the car. The door said that shopping carts weren't allowed, but since there were only two people inside, I thought I'd quickly grab something. I was immediately told that the stroller had to stay outside. When I explained that I couldn't leave my children outside and that taking them outside wasn't an option (they take everything in the store), I received absolutely no empathy. They literally said, "You're welcome the rest of the year, but not today, this Christmas." Any further explanation I received was ignored. I truly felt unwelcome. What makes this even more galling: a twin stroller would have been even wider, and a simple solution like asking what I needed and quickly getting it wasn't even considered. Rules are rules, but a little humanity—especially around Christmas—is to be expected.

It's a bakery, not a restaurant. But it's one of the best bakeries in Purmerend.

I've had a few times now where the tiger white bread no longer has that crispy tiger crust, which it always used to. It doesn't even make a crunchy sound when you eat it anymore. The crust is now tough, which used to only happen if you had the bread for a day. It seems like they're selling bread from the previous day?

Better than supermarket bread but lately holes in the bread now and then and in combination with the price, 1 tiger brown costs 2.66 I can't get further than 2 stars. 2023 Update: now costs 2.75 2024 Update: 3.30

Best bakery in town. Very good baker in Purmerend. It's busy and there's often a wait, but it's worth it. They have several places in the city and one of them in Weidevenne.

Bread is fine. Since the business was taken over. If the service is lacking in customer friendliness, you call to ask what the phone is about. Very very rude. Been coming there for years. After three bad experiences, never, ever again!

Delicious bread, go there especially for it. This bakery has three locations, but for me this is the easiest to drive to and park. The disadvantage is that it is always, always busy. A 15 minute wait is no exception. I make it myself, I close it neatly at the back, because it is very tasty ;)

Good baker, but there are also "older" people who come in and stand close to you. So that you are automatically forced to avoid this. There are 4 dots on the ground, so only 4 customers in the store at a time. Today someone was standing close to someone else without a face mask and coughing. So the customer this man was standing close to looks at him with some annoyance, so the "older" man puts on his face mask. But a bit late. The pity is that the staff doesn't say anything about this. So that you keep the chance of skirmishes as small as possible.

I recently switch from visiting Harry de Groot the centrum to the branch in Weidevenne. I start visiting the Weidevenne branch for 3-4 times a week. Overall, I like the young staff; they are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, today I had an incident with the so-called "manager". As usual, I buy a few Pide bread and some desserts. I asked before I buy if the bread is freshly baked today. The "manager" claimed it is fresh and *not* frozen. I asked again; she insisted it is fresh. Then I go ahead and buy, after 5 min before riding my bike, I opened one the bread to check its core, it turns out it is frozen. I went back and asked for a 2-min private talk with the "manager". I was trying to consider the reputation of the place and her privacy. She refused and asked me to speak publicly. I shared my findings with her. Her answer we disrespectful; she insisted it is fresh and kept offering money to wash away her dishonesty. She declined to check the bread or ask any of her colleagues to check. In the end, she said it is called "inside the bakery", although today is 29 Celsius. I left the bread & the money she is offering and go on with my day. I'm writing this to send a message to the people running Harry de Groot. You have build a successful brand that I and many people in Purmerend love. Many of your staff are amazing. On the other hand, the manager of the Weidevenne branch is unfit for such a role. Besides, such toxic behavior from the manager will set a bad example for the young and new staff members. I encourage you to consider diving into why the manager opts for her self-pride & stubbornness over being honest and helpful to the customer.

Consciously get the bread here. Real artisan bread and other products. Definitely better than the supermarkets in the area. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

It wasn't too bad, not too busy, but also slightly less choice. Saturday afternoon.

Tuesday 21072015 bought six packaged filled cakes for just under five euros, to go with coffee with acquaintances. The cakes turned out to be very crumbly and had dried out due to age, so they were in serious trouble! Thanks Harry.
