Edit: it gets better, the guy is back, he's new! So she's not only working alone, she also has to help him. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU ONLY SEE 2 PEOPLE BEHIND THE COUNTER August 26th 2026 Ordered burger, had it within minutes. 3 people behind the counter. Let's hope this continues.

Very disappointing experience. We had to wait nearly an hour for our order. The place was dirty and very disorganized. The staff were willing in themselves, but it was clear that they were at their wits' end as well. Due to the enormous delay, we ran into time trouble and ultimately had to throw away two complete meals. I have filed a complaint about this with headquarters and am still waiting for a response. What stands out even more: in my experience, a complaint at McDonald’s is taken seriously and handled promptly. That makes the contrast with Burger King all the greater. All in all, a very disappointing experience. This was absolutely not the level you should expect from a major fast-food chain.

This is by far the worst Burger King in the Netherlands. Dirty tables, dirty floor, dirty walls, dirty windows, broken furniture. Absolutely everything is filthy and broken. A lot of things were sold out and the items you could order were cold. They should fire the staff immediately, what a bunch of lowlifes! They are very good at gossiping about the customers. Wasted money! We will never come here again!!

Disaster. We've already been waiting 40 minutes for two cheeseburgers and a pimpernel, and this is supposed to be a fast food restaurant. Awful.

Ordered a cheeseburger, order ready every 10 minutes. Waited an hour for ONE cheeseburger. One of the benches was also completely run-down; the place itself isn't really clean either, because almost all the tables were mega filthy. All the ice cream was sold out too. This is a particularly bad place.

What a filthy restaurant! And waiting times of more than half an hour... We had already ordered before we really realized it. Broken benches, dirty floor, and filthy tables. Even the counter wasn't clean. The waiting time also turned out to be very long. After 10 minutes, only 4 orders had been served: do the math, and we would still have to wait 40(!) minutes. However, the filthy restaurant ruined our appetite so much that we didn't wait for our order and left needlessly.

Fast food? Not really. Waited literally 30 minutes to get my order this Monday 10/8/26 @ 15pm. Crazy...

After a day at Wildlands, we ended up at Burger King. After half an hour, still no food! It turned out others had been waiting for their food for an hour (and longer). We asked for a refund and left. I have never experienced anything like this at a BK!

I would advise against eating here; after waiting for more than half an hour, nothing, and trash is on the ground.

Worst experience ever at a fast food restaurant. I ordered two small burgers for £1.50 at 18:27, and around 19:05 I tried to approach a waitress at the counter by raising my hand, but she kept acting like she didn't see me. The order was ready at 19:19, and to top it all off, they didn't even call my number when it was ready. They hadn't even placed my order in the takeaway section, and I had to ask where my order was again because the screen indicated it was ready. Oh, and with the veggie cheeseburger, there wasn't even any cheese. I really chose the wrong place thinking I'd grab some food after a day at Wildlands. It's scandalous to have waited 52 minutes.

Burger King should be ashamed of how they treat this branch. We ordered at 18:05, walked to the counter at 18:55, and helped the staff complete the order. And even then, they were running around like headless chickens. The manager indicated that he had three sick employees and two new staff members, and was walking into production himself out of sheer misery. This is unacceptable. The restaurant itself is full of junk. The trash cans are overflowing and the stack of trays is starting to look like the Tower of Pisa. Almost all the benches are torn. Something is going terribly wrong here. And has been for a while, judging by the rest of the reviews. On top of that, we also received real chicken nuggets instead of vegan ones; it was resolved, but it was really, really bad!

Rugged furniture with holes, dirty and grimy. Simply a disgusting atmosphere.

Unfortunately, this was without a doubt one of the worst Burger King experiences we have ever had. The restaurant was very dirty and clearly neglected. The furniture was so worn that the upholstery on the benches had largely disappeared and even the foam underneath was decaying. This gave an incredibly unkempt impression. While waiting for our order, we were able to look into the kitchen. There, we saw an employee simply eating food that had fallen between the burgers and then immediately continuing to prepare the burgers. He was not wearing gloves while doing so. We found this very unhygienic and it gave us little confidence in food safety. We will therefore not be returning here.

Rubbish! You place a big order. Get a completely different order. At the door, they tell you to call Burger King. Impossible to reach. So I went to Burger King myself. A thousand apologies. You get home and it's inedible. Fries gulp down your throat. Cold. But I'm definitely going to take this further. 🤢🤢🤢

Very poor service, only two staff members on duty who couldn't handle it, 40 people were standing in line waiting for their order. Waited for hours for a cold order that wasn't even complete. Everything is dirty there, you can't eat properly. This place should be closed. This incident took place on July 24, 2026. I do not recommend it to anyone.

I had to wait just 25 minutes for my order. In those 25 minutes, a grand total of 3 orders were delivered. The entire warming room was full of burgers, but apparently it wasn't possible to put them on a tray. So when I got home with my order, the burgers were cold, while the fries were still warm. It's a wonder the name Burger King is still allowed on the facade here.

To Management Walked in this evening at 6:00 PM. It was immediately noticeable that there were about 15 open orders and the staff were running around like headless chickens. Hardly anything was being served, even though the counter was full of burgers. Immediately after I placed my order, no more orders were being accepted. This happened just as Wildlands had closed and people with children were looking for a quick bite. After ordering at the self-service kiosk, no receipt came out of the machine. Fortunately, I quickly received a copy at the cash register from a friendly English-speaking employee. Subsequently, I saw many angry faces from customers who had been waiting for over an hour. I myself requested and received my money back after waiting for 30 minutes. There were 5 employees, which should be enough given the size of the branch. However, the employees are visibly inexperienced. Orders were half-finished, products had been sitting around for too long, and orders were incorrect, causing the food to be cold before it was handed over. Additionally, the tables, chairs, and floor were downright filthy, and the trash cans were overflowing. I have advised the person in charge to temporarily close the branch and refund customers. The staff is not to blame for this; someone from senior management will have to take responsibility and resolve this. It is a perfect location right opposite Wildlands; this should be a gold mine!

Walked in here from Wildlands with two young children. 1.5 hours later and still no food, almost 2 hours later and finally got the money back. After waiting for 1.5 hours, both kids needed to pee; they were difficult about it at first, but opened the toilet after complaints from several people. It was extremely dirty (even worse than at a standard fast food place).

I don't know what they are doing here, but they are well over 20 orders behind and then they decide to turn off the doors and kiosks. You see them moving but don't see any orders being handed out. It seems like no one is managing this. The trash isn't being cleaned up either. I have never experienced anything like this before. Almost an hour later and still no order. They also put everything in bags to make people take food away instead of eating here. It looks just like they want to drive people away. Is this a competition to become the worst Burger King? I'm flabbergasted.

Waited for over 2 hours. Cold fries and fishburger. Delivery driver refers to customer service. You end up in a chat. Doesn't solve anything. You call..... 4 times... there is no one available at the moment. You are going to leave a review that is clearly not based on online ordering. No stars is too much, but unfortunately the minimum is 1.

In short: the worst Burger King franchise we've ever eaten at! But first: we were full... and there was no risk of burning ourselves on the hot/warm food, because it was lukewarm at best! ...but due to the long wait of over 30 minutes and the questionable hygiene of the premises, we weren't hungry anymore even before that! After visiting the Wildlands Zoo across the street, we wanted to grab a quick bite with five people! At/behind the counter were two young women. One was trying to manage the situation, while the other was busy enough dealing with the fries and sorting the order. The trays were piled high in the restaurant, the trash cans were overflowing, and no one seemed to be in charge. How could they be, when both employees were stuck behind the counter? The bench seats were ripped, the tables were dirty and hadn't been wiped down in ages. Next time, we'd rather not eat at all...

Food is cold, staff is slow, food is often already laid out (whoppers had been sitting ready for well over fifteen minutes), while mine still had to be made, unkempt restaurant, tidying up/cleaning is poor. Many items are sold out.

Don't go! The restaurant is filthy, there are holes in the benches, and the wait is incredibly long! There are only three people in the kitchen, and they move very slowly. Seriously, don't go!

Bad service. You have to make it clear with gestures what you want and mean, and even then the orders are incorrect.

A complete hygiene disaster. It's understandable that Burger King is a franchise subject to enormous fluctuations, but this place is seriously violating all regulations. Definitely avoid it!

Very slow, preparation took over 40 minutes. Burger King just doesn't get it right. You eat fast food because you want it to be quick, but not here… The burgers themselves usually taste good.

Everything is delicious, but it takes an incredibly long time. Fast food is supposed to work quickly. We waited 40 minutes for our order. That is really bad. There should be a manager monitoring the process.

Too little staff. In the rush, there are two people standing there. One with the knowledge that a new colleague with a clear lack of experience and more has standing next to him. If you are the owner of this place, you should be utterly ashamed of yourself for treating people like this. Better a clown than a king in this way. The clown does deliver, though. At the clown's, you won't succeed in misbehaving or getting inside with your fatbike. At this king's, that is normal. The order was for 5 drinks. Asking for and receiving a refund took longer than pouring the drinks. But the poor guy had already called the manager and received no solution for his situation. He couldn't help it. Lame management, however, could.

Guy who took my order ( Nathan, i think his name is..it says it on my receipt lol ) is very nice, complimented my hair and was very easy to talk to :) food is amazing, very yummy bacon cheese fries haha

The last time we wanted to eat there, we and several others who wanted to order were told that they were closed. The door was simply open on both sides, and according to the opening hours, the place was open for at least another 2 hours. Customer service is nowhere to be found there.

This is really not normal; everyone is waiting an hour for their order because they have far too little staff and they aren't working efficiently. There are tons of burgers lying around and they just keep making more, which means they spend ages looking for what they need. Truly the least efficient way of working ever.

30 minute waiting time for my order. Almost an hour for other people in my group. The food was good. Standard Burger King good. But the waiting time is way too long, and appears indicative or organisational issues.

It's a real mess here, trash cans full to the brim. Even the tables have become trash cans. The floor is covered in rubbish. Unfortunately, I can't add a photo, otherwise I would.

Unfortunately, Burger King was disappointing. It was very busy, which meant the atmosphere wasn't really cozy. The quality and experience made it not something I would recommend.

The room is dingy because the couches are worn out and the tables aren't cleaned regularly. The food is very average; the burgers weren't cooked to perfection, the cheese wasn't melted, and one burger was missing bacon. Overall, very average.

The Burger King in Emmen is located in a nice spot near the shopping center and opposite Wildlands. Inside, it isn't super cozy, and some of the upholstery on the benches has been damaged for quite some time (years). Note that most of the staff speaks English. The burgers at Burger King are simply good, as are the fries.

Far too little staff, so you get cold food and have to wait a long time; this happens quite often here. You're better off getting something somewhere else until they do something about it.

It was a filthy mess. There was nowhere to change a child. We had to wait an hour for our food, and when we finally got it, it was cold. Not surprising when you only have 3 staff members. This was the last time we are going here.

Today this branch reached its lowest point: the heating is off, the toilet is "out of order," and the staff is down to just two on a busy Saturday afternoon. And they have to work in a coat because of the cold. The food is almost cold, and one person after another is walking away grumpily. I just feel sorry for the staff.

Just ordered food for work and didn't receive everything I ordered. Filed a complaint with Thuisbezorgd, and what do you get? 10 cents as compensation. And after calling for 30 minutes, they still didn't answer; that's also bad business.

I've never been to such a dirty Burger King, and on top of that, I had to wait so long. They seem understaffed. Every table is dirty and sticky, and there's food underneath them. The restroom stinks of urine, and there's trash everywhere.

I honestly waited 30+ minutes for two cheeseburgers, and it wasn't even evening or anything; it was 12:30 on a Wednesday when I ordered. But hey, that doesn't surprise me, because few things go well in Emmen. When I finally got my order, it came with pickles, even though I'd asked for them without. It couldn't be worse.

We waited a good 25-30 minutes for our order. And then the food was almost cold. They couldn't even handle the orders. The trash cans were overflowing. It's terribly cold in there, and clean is another matter. We won't be coming back!

Whoever was working tonight really needs to get out. When we arrived, the shift leader was just taking a break, and there was a girl behind the counter. Our order had been ready and getting cold for fifteen minutes, but it took her her colleague's entire break to pack it up and give it to her. She was constantly distracted and constantly interrupted by all sorts of things while packing it up. Meanwhile, 15 new orders had come in, and absolutely nothing was being given to customers. Our drink cups were only half full because the person filling them wasn't even looking at what they were doing, and there was some kind of sticker in the fries. I've ordered cheese bacon fries countless times and received BBQ. The staff is incredibly inattentive; there's always something wrong with our order. The wait time is always 30/40 minutes, regardless of the busy time during the day. It's also often dirty and not tidy.

We waited half an hour for our food. When we got it, it was incredibly dry and tasteless. It's incredibly dirty and cold here. And then we had to wait an incredibly long time for a coin to use the restroom.

Burger King? Burger Kneus! On a Sunday evening around 7 p.m., no orders were being taken today. Wildnights was incredibly busy, and they could have capitalized on this. We arrived and saw a note on the door saying we had to enter through the shopping center. But the shopping center was closed!? How could they? A few young people at the door said the door could be opened manually. That's how we got in. And then you enter and see trash everywhere. See the photos. It's too sad to put into words. People were eating at two tables. But the kiosks were turned off. We looked at the counter. A staff member said from a distance that they weren't taking orders. How could they? With an hour and a half to go until closing? DISGRACE here. We're not coming back!

I just popped in here to use the restroom. You pay 50 cents, which is fine. But if you charge for your restroom, I expect it to be clean. But... no! What a filthy mess. The food is fine.

Never again! We had to wait 15 minutes because the owner was on a break. He was smoking outside. We couldn't order anything; all the screens were off. He didn't wash his hands. When we ordered, we had to wait over half an hour for our food. When it was finally ready, the order was wrong. The food was so disgusting. But the hygiene was even worse. Nothing was clean. Never again! 🤢🤢 We're all sick of it. There were 7 of us there.

It took way too long, and the burger was tasty, but it was gone quickly. The chicken nuggets were almost cold. It was very busy, but they did everything in order, which made it take too long. If I were them, I'd order the quickest and if you have time, order in between.

The food was awful, dry, and barely warm. But there's trash everywhere: paper, straws, receipts, and empty cups. Staff is shouting because they're trying to call out numbers in English. Our fries were very soft and not well fried but there was a lot of salt on them I think it's a bit bad but if you get a deal it's not too bad but it's not very tasty I would rather go to McDonald's or something because that's a bit tastier and cheaper otherwise it was tasty

Sinterklaas Sunday... 22 minutes waiting for crispy chicken, small fries, and Fanta. When I get the fries, they're cold. I asked for new fries and was immediately assigned a new employee. There's nothing I can do about it. It wasn't even that busy at the time... They say there weren't enough people scheduled. This is also the first time the shops are open on the Sunday before Sinterklaas... strange... customers have to clean the tables themselves...

Terrible. So expensive. I was shocked by what was on the tray. They forgot to add sauces. I walked back and asked, "The sauces were forgotten." At first, she denied it. Then I asked if this was correct, I had to pay 30 euros. There were hardly any fries in the bags, less than 15 pieces, and they were cold. No, everything was correct. I'd filled out a checklist about the hows and whys. When I went to the checkout, a girl named Eline had to tell me I could only get a drink because I already had something else. Firstly, why did I go to the checkout to order that drink? Secondly, there's another way, and thirdly, it doesn't necessarily mean I have to go for the whopper. I find it really strange that I'm going to the checkout specifically for a drink and getting an answer that doesn't need to be given? Does Eline think I'm not smart or something? Does she think I need help or what? This isn't called service. I should have mustered up all my courage for this, and then this? I made that whole checklist specifically for that drink, not for that whopper. Update: There's also an Englishman working there who doesn't speak Dutch. At least hire someone who can learn Dutch and is willing to put in the effort.

Standing at the checkout with my 3-year-old, just barely potty-trained, asking for a toilet token, they first demand a receipt as proof that you've eaten there. They also didn't suggest that he should pee first before ordering anything. So, we didn't order anything this time. Even when we did, the service was terrible (there's always something wrong with the order). We'll be skipping Burger King Emmen from now on.

The small 3-star whopper wasn't warm, and the rest of the order wasn't complete, but thankfully, it was resolved quickly. A friendly face behind the counter was quick to resolve the issue.

We also earn points by scanning coupons through the app. I've saved up 1000 points by then... I want to exchange these points for a Texas Bacon Lover, which was on the app... I get a Veggie burger twice... they shouldn't be calling it a burger. After repeatedly stating and showing I ordered a regular burger, they simply say it's our own fault. And I have to eat a veggie burger... because they didn't take it back and weren't allowed to get a real burger in return. I was really hungry and had to eat something, so I took a bite of the burger. I've NEVER TASTE SOMETHING SO RANCID!!! The smell was unbearable. 🤮 Which even the toilet didn't like afterward. I don't know what they put in those veggie burgers. But it stinks, it's gross, and it looks awful. I've been coming here for years for a beef burger. And then you solve this like this... The staff is always MEGA grumpy. There's literally one woman who's always nice and fixes everything, but unfortunately, she wasn't there and I don't think she works there anymore. They're incredibly slow, and they have a mouth on them, which is unbelievable. We've also had to wait more than 45 minutes for our food the last two times. You can't order normally at the cash register anymore. Only through the screen. And then they have two screens where you can order. Because the rest don't work? In other words, you can't pay with cash either? Because you have to pay directly through the screen. It's getting crazier every month here in Emmen, and people have no respect for each other anymore. It's completely gone here. I make my own burgers...

Horrible. The floor was sticky, all the tables were sticky, it was crawling with flies, all the furniture was broken, and four milkshakes took almost 13 minutes to be ready... with only two orders before me. And this at 3 p.m. But hey, if your staff doesn't even speak Dutch, how are they supposed to understand the guidelines? Never again.
