We opted for the shared dining dishes. They were all delicious. It's also great that they serve wine in half-bottles. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere in the courtyard, set in a beautiful building in the lovely town of Zuthpen, makes for a wonderful experience. We would love to come back.

Lovely place in the garden (rare in Zutphen) to eat or have a drink. The new concept here is that you can also order affordable small "café" dishes. We found it well prepared and indeed not too expensive. Now add artichoke to the menu and we are completely satisfied.

In itself a fine experience but with some drawbacks. I had made a reservation for my mother's birthday. When we entered there was no one to be seen who could receive us. There was also really no staff in the restaurant. I eventually walked into the kitchen so that someone could help us to our table. The waiter immediately left, we were left with question marks. Apart from some balloons, no attention was paid to my mother's birthday, which is a shame because I fill in something like that for a reason. It would have been very nice if the waiter had congratulated my mother, for example. The restaurant is otherwise beautifully and classically decorated. Later the waiter came to take the drinks but we still did not have a proper reception, so I asked the waiter if he could explain what the procedure is in this restaurant. I had already made a reservation for shared dining in advance but the waiter was clearly not aware of that. Other employees said little, walked by but we did not always feel comfortable. The food was fine but not special. In addition, nothing was explained, for example we did not know what kind of spreads were in the sandwich. My friend's coffee was forgotten at the end. Speed ​​of service was fine. Unfortunately we found the service really not sufficient for the character and class of Artisjok, I would not immediately recommend it to others because for us it was not a showstopper. Too bad because our expectations were high after hearing and saying! In addition, it is therefore also too expensive for the quality.

Beautiful surroundings, nice seating areas, attentive and friendly (young) staff. We also had the 'sharing together' concept. I think we ordered 10 dishes. Plus the house red wine and a local beer. Of the 10 dishes, 6 received ***** stars, 2 *** stars and 2 * Portions vary considerably (all dishes around €9). Roasted vegetables are 1 tablespoon full..... Luckily I ordered fries for the filling. Mind you, we are 55+ and not really big eaters. Going here with teenagers is like bleeding dry. On average, you expect more given the prices and appearance. Crème Brule had a really thick sugar layer. This violates the judiciary. The ice cream that came with this, on the other hand, was super tasty, so average *** We were there on a quiet Thursday evening and the waiter indicated that 'the chef' was not there. This may be the reason why 4 dishes were missed. We will give it a second chance (we want to sit in the indoor garden for once), but if it is not better then that will be the case.

Artichoke by Chiel presents itself as a culinary restaurant and also charges prices that reflect that. We went there for shared dining, and that was - to be honest - quite disappointing. For example, we received a dish of smoked salmon of mediocre quality on finely chopped curly lettuce that had no taste. That was a loveless dish for 8.95. The whitefish salad was prepared and tasty, but not special and quite little. The crispy feta was three small fried pieces of white cheese, I don't think it was feta, and certainly not tasty feta. The service is well-intentioned but inexperienced. The prices for the open wines are way too high. I thought it was a shame.

One of the reasons I wanted to eat here is that they have two vegan dishes on the menu – a rarity in Zutphen! What we ate: Bread with spreads – great start. Starter: baba ganoush – tasty, but too creamy and not really like traditional baba ganoush should be. Main course: chickpea curry – tasty, but the portion was really small. Dessert: rhubarb sorbet – never tried it before, but a delicious surprise! The great thing about this restaurant is that there is something for everyone, from fancy dishes (which I prefer to skip as a vegan) to burgers for the less adventurous eater. Everyone at the table seemed to enjoy themselves, but we agreed on one thing: the portions were disappointing. To get some extra filling, we ordered extra vegetables. Unfortunately, we only got a few bowls of mixed salad and roasted vegetables with exactly three pieces on them. Absolutely delicious dinner tonight. The new Artichoke concept (shared dining) was very nice, and offers the opportunity to taste and share various dishes. We ordered several dishes and they were all really tasty. Super varied too, and everything was of exactly the same quality as we have come to expect from Chiel. So great. Enjoyed it very much, and we will definitely come back soon.

Last night I was introduced to Artichoke by Chiel for the first time. I won what I won through a promotion via Facebook. A nice entrance with a nice warm appearance and friendly staff. The shared dining concept looked great, plenty of choice for everyone. It was all very tasty and high quality what was served. A wonderfully surprising taste. Definitely worth repeating. It was a nice, well-organized evening for us, we even received the drinks. We were so surprised by it that we left something for the waiter. Thank you! We will definitely come back!

Last weekend I had dinner at Artichoke with my girlfriend. We were very curious about the shared dining concept, because we had never experienced it like this before, and we were pleasantly surprised! It was the perfect way to taste different dishes that we had never eaten before. In addition, the service was friendly and professional, and we immediately felt welcome. Definitely recommended!

Truly an A location for that. But the staff is not well trained and you have to explain and ask a lot to them. They walk around with cell phones and don't even know what a prosecco is or where it is even located. At the very least, hire a manager who will manage everything if you dare to charge the prices Chiel asks.

At the entrance, your coat is safely stored in a beautiful antique cupboard. Then you enter the restaurant. Beautiful paintings on the wall and a stylish, trendy lamp set the scene. Immediately a delicious amuse, a tasty gazpacho on the table. Then we looked for a 4+4. 4 course dinner with matching wine arrangement. Heavenly! We floated from cod to Indian pumpkin soup and from duck breast to pineapple with nut crumble with delicious ice cream. What wonderful things. Between the acts a mop orchestra came to perform a long-lasting life. Chiel a big 10 for this evening!

A beautiful building, very cozy courtyard and very friendly service. The dishes are refined and quite good for the price you pay. Because given its location and compared to the surrounding area, it is not the most expensive restaurant. We were particularly pleased with the soup flavored with Indian herbs. We had the matching wine arrangement but found the glasses to be poured very sparingly. I would advise ordering your own bottle. At the end of the evening the chef/owner came by the tables to ask if everything was to your liking. All in all, more than sufficient.

During an escape tour we now passed Chiel. Take a seat on the outdoor area with picnic tables. Very friendly staff. No problem ordering 2 fries bags for the kids. The dog was also offered a bowl of water. A perfect setting and enjoyed our drink.

To start with, the service was good. Clear explanation for each course. We went for 5 courses. Quality of the dishes varied. The soup and risotto were delicious. The sea bream was a bit bland and the main course was decent, but a bit boring. Presentation better than the taste. The dessert was really not tasty. This was indicated, but nothing was done about it. Overall nice, but too expensive for the quality.

Good reception. We have not made a reservation. It was nice that we could choose where we wanted to sit. We could choose from the Bistro menu or A la Carte dishes. The Risotto was a beautiful and tasty dish from the A la carte, clearly attention had been paid to it, but the burger from the Bistro menu was more like a glorified cafeteria. Moreover, the burger was lukewarm. What a difference! Quite a difference in terms of plate layout, but not in terms of price!!!! The burger is listed as too pricey on the menu. Does not fit the atmosphere and is also in great contrast to the allure of the restaurant, how the staff expressed themselves, neat, attentive, almost formal. A glass of wine of less than 100ml costs 9.50, but good wine! But quite expensive for such a glass! A drink of water? they ask, and whether you want bubble or still water, you will receive a bottle on the table, which will be neatly poured into your water glass. But we didn't ask for a bottle. The bottle was on the bill for a significant amount. The Crème Brullee dessert is highly recommended! But we had to ask for the cappuccino we ordered again. An extensive shelf full of goodies. We didn't ask, we just wanted a cappuccino. The account also contained a significant amount of money for this. Of course, with those treats, that's okay if you ordered them that way. But we only wanted a cappuccino. It is also nice when that question is communicated with the guest. It's funny that the waiters kept saying "I'll make that for you". Consider the amuse that we were served... and which was not included in the bill. The service was a bit messy... And the price ratio, quality too expensive! I got the idea that two different restaurateurs run this place at one address...

What a disappointment! We had been here six months earlier and had eaten very well, so we were looking forward to a culinary evening. Nothing further from the truth. As a starter we had a fridge cold half lobster bop and a very small salad with barely any sauce. My friend was served wine from a bottle that had already been opened the day before. With the main course, the mediocre cone and fries were already on the table 15 minutes before the rest. Two of the three main courses consisted only of pieces of meat with barely any sauce, no garnish. We had to ask for that. The sweetbreads were poorly cooked. And unfortunately the boss didn't bother to come out of the kitchen to talk to us either. The restaurant was also far from full, so this poor cooking could not have been due to too much work in the kitchen. Pity

Ate soup of the day. Asparagus soup with pieces of salmon....very special and delicious. Quality is top notch. ...2 x 9.50e . Card is too trendy for us seniors. Would have preferred an old-fashioned bouncer with white bread.

It was very tasty food, you pay a lot for it but yes it is quality so yes there is very little for children and they have almost no vegetarian dishes

The gray sports sweater-wearing, somewhat too familiar waiters, do have knowledge of the wine list. 1-0 for Chiel. The recommendation is only made as if we were sitting in a beer bar and they were our cousins. Very inappropriate. Especially when you charge €7.50+ per glass. Then the food: €19.50 for a hamburger with fries. The burger itself was good, as was the pile of salad on the plate, but that's where it ends. The bun that the burger was on would put even McDonald's to shame! Dry and crumbly (I think it should have been fried). The fries were heavily seasoned, with a salty mixture, which made it so incredibly salty that it burned my throat. I ate it because I was hungry and I really didn't feel like eating the sandwich. When clearing the table we were asked the traditional question: 'Did you enjoy it?' My response to this was clearly unwanted. Visibly doubting my words, the waiter was poking his finger into the bun left on my plate. I received no response to the suggestion whether he might also want to take a bite to try it. In fact, he simply walked away. EXCUSE ME? Chiel, this can be better! So-much-better.

Hele fijne buitenhuis op zonnige dag heerlijk vertoeven in relaxe sfeer. Biertje en nootje gedaan en dat was top ! Kaart ziet er goed uit fijne prijzen ; gaan hier op zeker terug komen

Met een groep vrienden begonnen met koffie en heerlijk gebak uit eigen keuken. Na een wandeling door het mooie Zutphen heerlijke lunch gehad bij By Chiel. Na een tocht met de fluisterbootjes weer terug naar By Chiel voor een lekker wijntje en lekkere hapjes. Kom zeker terug hier. Alles was heel erg goed. Personeel heel vriendelijk en attent. Mooie zaak.

Sorry Chiel, maar als je kijkt naar de maat wijn die je een wijnarangement schenkt, dan ben ik benieuwd wat voor natte bodem het BOB arangement is. Met een 6 gangen gourmand menu begonnen. Het eerste voorgerecht ( zalmceviche) was goed. De kerrie/pompoensoep ok. Toen ging het volledig mis. Een soort verschroeide sliptong met daarna een stukje rundvlees van abominabel slechte kwaliteit. We zijn daarna maar afgehaakt, afgerekend en naar huis gegaan. Jammer van deze avond. We hadden ons er veel meer bij voorgesteld. Conclusie te duur voor te weinig kwaliteit. Of dit soort recensies effect zullen hebben betwijfel ik. Chiel reageert niet op recensies.

Bediening is erg vriendelijk en attent. Het eten daarentegen is echt een aanfluiting. Garnalensalade is overpriced, met droog getoast brood. Flammkuchen was niet gaar en van de smaken combinatie klopte helemaal niets. Geen aanrader!

Een perfecte avond gehad in alle opzichten!

Zeker een aanrader! Er wordt veel aandacht besteed aan het eten, dat vertaalt zich in een prachtig plaatje op je bord wat ook nog eens zeer smakelijk is. Bediening is zeer attent. 3 sterren voor de sfeer omdat het door het witte damast op tafel en de zeer formele bediening wat stijf aanvoelt, niet heel erg meer van deze tijd wat mij betreft

Het was war, de zon scheen fel, en in de gracht naast het cafe stond deze prachtige berenklauw. Het gebak was heerlijk!

Wat gedronken in de gezellige tuin.

Genoten van het 5-gangen diner met wijnarrangement. Verrassende gerechten/ smaak combinaties. Personeel was vriendelijk alleen wel met veel dingen tegelijk bezig, waardoor de aandacht niet oprecht voelde en de broodjes werden vergeten. Twee keer werd de wijn aan maar twee van de drie mensen aan tafel uitgelegd, omdat de derde naar de toilet was. Zou netjes zijn om dit anders te doen

Mooi restaurant, kundig personeel en top chef.

Waar draait het om als je uit eten gaat. Klantgerichtheid, gastvrijheid, het eten en een beleving van een avond uit. Helaas heeft dit restaurant daar bij ons niet op gescoord. Wij raden dus By Chiel zeker niet aan. Ze doen zich beter voor dan dat ze zijn. Volgens ons vinden de koks hier hun werk niet zo leuk want de gerechten waren echt niet lekker.

Wat een ambiance! Net zoals het eten en het personeel, zo is uit eten een feestje. Geweldig!

Zeer goed personeel en een mooi restaurant

Op Valentijnsdag verrast door mijn lief met een fantastisch 6 gangen diner met bijpassende wijnen. Bij binnenkomst een alleraardigste ontvangst waarbij onze jassen keurig werden aangenomen en in de kast gehangen werden. Daarna kon het feest beginnen. In een heerlijke ambiance, waar de hartjes op tafel zeker aan hebben bijgedragen, gestart met een zomers en liefdevol huisaperatief. Heerlijke gerechten met dito wijnen, uitstekende keuze van de Chef en de sommellier. Uitleg aan tafel over de gerechten die uitgeserveerd werden zowel in het Nederlands als in het Engels (aangevuld in het Nederlands door de Ukraïnse ober). Als afsluiting koffie met huisgemaakte bon bons. Een voortreffelijke avond gehad!

Spontaan binnen gelopen en wat een warme welkom. Sfeer is top van begin tot het eind. Heerlijke gerechten en ontspannen gedineerd. Wij komen zeker weer terug.

Een mooi aangekleed restaurant, eigenaar was een goede gastheer. Eten (lunch) was heerlijk, een mooi restaurant op een mooie plek. Een aanrader voor een echte lunch a la Carte. Gerechten zien er kwalitatief mooi uit en zijn heerlijk, ook de wijnkaart is een aanrader.

Fijne plek in Zutphen met een tuin in de middag en avondzon. Heerlijke burger gegeten en rijke salade ‘Uit de IJssel’.

Erg jammer allemaal net niet De combinatie voorgerechten niet bijzonder alleen de pastinaak soep was lekker De kreeft termidor besteld ,kreeg een klassieke bereiding Koffie appeltaart met ijs en slagroom jammer dat de appeltaart ook steen koud was

Twee biertjes en een portie draadjesvlees bitterballen wat heen draadjesvlees bitterballen waren: €17,50. Belachelijke prijzen. Na de corona steun (belastinggeld) wordt je voor de tweede keer leegezogen door de ondernemer zelf. Update; toch nog maar een tweede kans gegeven. Helaas. Om 11:55 aangekomen, alle borden die je uitnodigen naar het terras, naar binnen te komen stonden er. Om 12:15 nog steeds geen bediening op het terras. Wat echter heel verontrustend was, was de geur op het terras. Een rioollucht. En die lucht kwam ergens vanuit het pand. Kortom, we zijn weer vertrokken. We komen niet meer terug.

Erg lekker eten en een fijne plek om te zitten!!
