After finishing our first drink, we were immediately forced to order more. When we refused, the staff kicked us out the door in an aggressive tone. Such unprofessional service is unacceptable!

Hey guys, as the tourist, hope this comment would help you before it ruins your day. This is a worst cafe with strongly racixl discrimixxx I’ve ever seen in the Netherland. I politely asked for a table and I got direct big NO without any reason in opening time. If you think I’m defxming this terrible place. Please have a look at the other comments with 1 star. You will realize everything I said was a truth. And I guess what happens next would be like get the apology and an old animal will still be what it used to be. 我強烈建議所有亞洲人不要來這間餐廳，他的服務員有很嚴重的x視。

The pizza costs 15 euros and isn't even homemade. Not recommended.

Went there for eating something fast with my kids. Didn't know it's one of the older, if not the oldest, pub. I had a local beer and some food. Both good. The place is extraordinary. The wood everywhere, the really old planks as floor. I'm happy that I went there to see it. The staff was friendly and fast to serve.

Horrible experience! I only went for a coffee because anywhere would have done, but from now on I'll be more careful because, wow. The service was AWFUL. I don't know if it's just to tourists or if they're just unpleasant to everyone, but they shout at you in a super rude tone, very unprofessional, and their facial expressions and attitude leave much to be desired. Also, I should add that vegans and lactose intolerant people don't have any plant-based milk options, and the prices are also high, although that's generally true of Amsterdam; it's quite an expensive destination. Finally, before writing this, I read other similar reviews, so it's comforting to know I wasn't the only one. And although the owner responds and apologizes, it's not much use when there have been reviews like this for years and they continue with the same attitude. Anyway, it's a shame that people like this work with the public. I hope they replace all the employees, and I hope this review helps someone know where NOT to go.

A lovely cafe to visit to the watch the world go by, enjoy a tasty beer and food

This is a great little cafe opposite the Amsterdam Central Train Station. The atmosphere and vibe is very eclectic. The menu is quick and easy snacks. We had Nachos and Chicken Wings, a beer, a wine and a spirit. Everything delivered quickly and efficiently and very friendly. I adore this cafe!!

A decent enough old school Dutch bar. Nice views overlooking Centraal Station. Service leaves a lot to be desired though. I finished a beer and the guy just took the glass and didn’t ask if I wanted another one. Was overly attentive to one table whilst I just sat there waiting to be served. Weird vibe off one of the employees.

Stopped in for a quick drink and to use the restroom. The bartender (the bald gentleman) told us we both had to buy drinks before either of us could use the facilities, which came across as unnecessarily rigid. We were there to spend money, and would have ordered more than one round, but the tone of the interaction killed any interest in staying. A little patience and good faith goes a long way in a service business. Disappointing.

We visited this bar yesterday evening at around 10:30 PM, and unfortunately the service was one of the worst experiences we had during our trip. When we arrived, we politely asked the bartender if we could order drinks and if we could quickly use the restroom first because we really had to go. He reacted very rudely and told us that we would both have to buy a drink before we were allowed to use the restroom. His attitude was unfriendly and unwelcoming from the very beginning. Unfortunately, his behavior didn't improve throughout the evening. He was not only rude to us but also to other customers. At one point, two guests had already paid their bill. After one of them finished his beer, another bartender asked if the glass was empty. When the guest said yes, the bartender replied, "Then you can leave now." This was my first visit to Amsterdam, and I was expecting a much warmer and more welcoming atmosphere. Sadly, this experience left a very negative impression. I cannot recommend this place based on the way customers were treated.

Bar tender was very rude. We were asked to choose our own seats. Then were yelled at when we tried to use the bathroom before we were served. Just not worth it.

Lovely Amsterdam service from two men who mostly just look at you to see what you're doing there. Coffee not great, but acceptable. If you can sit outside in the morning, do it. It's busy, but the world passes you by.

Completely overpriced!! I paid €13.50 for 0.2 liters of water and 10 measly cream puffs. Sure, the city center is expensive, but on top of that, the waiter was unfriendly.

I found the waiter very rude. We were just going to use the toilet, which was completely out of the question. I politely asked if I could use the toilet, fully expecting that I might need to buy something first, which I had absolutely no problem doing. Instead of simply explaining that, the person behind the bar responded in a rude and arrogant manner, repeatedly saying, “It’s only for customers.” I immediately acknowledged that I understood and even asked how much I needed to spend or whether I could buy a beer or something else. Yet rather than answering my question, he kept repeating the exact same sentence over and over, each time in a more dismissive and condescending tone. What bothered me was not the policy itself—I completely respect a business wanting to reserve its facilities for customers. The issue was the attitude. A simple and friendly explanation would have been perfectly fine. Instead, I was treated with unnecessary hostility and passive-aggressive behavior by someone who appeared to be in charge of the place. It was an extremely unpleasant interaction and left a very negative impression.

Excellent service! They made a mistake when bringing us the beer. And one of the people had already taken a sip, and they didn't charge us for it!

Last Sunday, while waiting for the salon boat, a reservation was made for 20 guests on the terrace at eleven o'clock. Good service, delicious coffee, and excellent apple pie!

Popped in here ahead of a boat tour. Was a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, and the history was amazing. We ordered food and I must say it wasn’t the best at all. Here you can watch the hustle and bustle of the city with a view of the train station and relax if you're too tired. It's been around since 1606. A welcome respite after a disastrous night in a hotel.

We visited this place two days in a row as tourists. The lady who served us on the first day was very polite, but I can't say the same for the two elderly men. The shorter, overweight man with glasses had a constantly sullen expression and slammed the beer and water glasses he brought to the table as if he were trying to break them. Thinking we had done something wrong, we paid the bill and quickly left.

I heard it's a 400-year-old cafe. Since it was cold outside the train station and we couldn't get an Uber, we went in to sit and have some hot drinks. We ordered hot chocolate and red wine, and also some classic local dishes: fried meatballs and Dutch waffles. Everything was alright, except we didn't really like the Dutch meatballs. The staff were friendly, and everyone was quite chill.

Asked for a euro to use the toilet, quite rudely, I said yes, but after I go to the toilet then she secretly tried to charge two euros 😂 so I walked out and told her to call the police instead.

Had a drink on the terrace this week with guests from the USA (just waiting for the boat tour). What a bad-tempered waiter; he threw the menu holder and coaster holder on the table from 1.5 meters away. Unfortunately, I had to feel seriously ashamed in front of my guests. Staff are not a showcase for this establishment.

A quaint and traditional spot for a beer and some local snacks. The poffertjes are better than Pat's famous ones. The Bitterballen are decent. The music is at a comfortable volume for conversation. The service is efficient, provided by a waitress, and a rather atypical but friendly older waiter is charming. A good place to relax in the busy city center.

Extremely hostile environment. I would recommend this place to someone I don't like. Very scammy. My friend and I needed to use the bathroom urgently, so I asked at the bar. They said no unless you order something. And were pretty aggressive about it. I was clear that we weren't going to drink anything, but they kept pressuring. Sure--I asked for a Heineken and they only offered their larger sized glasses (I didn't realize until after). 5,50 for something neither of us is going to drink as we were headed on a boat tour next. Then, when I get to the WC, there is a sign on the door that says 1 EUR for non-customers! So I overpaid by 4,50 because in the end, my friend didn't feel comfortable using it at all with the atmosphere. And he was pressuring her to get something as well.

They were incredibly rude at this place.. I went in for a drink but went to the toilet first.. they were shouting and screaming at me.. I got my drink.. they made me sit down in front of the whole restaurant.. very rude and disrespectful.. lucky I didn’t smack the old man in the face..

Just popped in for a coffee on our last morning in Amsterdam. Good quality coffee in a nice old pub in the old part of town. Couldn't get anymore European if you tried.

Stopped for lunch. Before heading to the train station. Ask the board tender if we could bring our luggage in. He said no problems shut down when the waitress showed up. She said whose luggage is that when I told her it was mine. She said that was going to be a problem. Once I looked at the menu and saw how sparse their offerings were, I looked at my wife and said, I don't think we need the attitude, let's find somewhere else when we got up. It’s a charming and cozy café, perfect for a tired traveler looking for tea and a quick snack. 🤩 The place offers a lovely view and is conveniently located near the train station. 😍 We ordered the Dutch cheese, which was delicious but quite a large portion, so unfortunately we couldn’t finish it and the remaining wasn’t packed for us to take away.🤨

They have such a volume of work that they don't even look for a table! As soon as I entered, they sent me to McDonalds!! Unpretentious!!!

We wanted to use the restroom because the kid had to go to the toilet urgently, but the bartender wouldn't let us. I will never go through that door again, and I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends.

Great place to visit, chat along with the bartenders and locals whilst having a nice drink in between visits. Came here a couple of times during the visit and would recommend for anyone to stop for at least a drink and a chat
