I bought a bottle of water for 4 euros and went to the bathroom. When my family wanted to go too, they yelled at us, saying that only the one who bought it would be a pdkqow. Horrible experience.

Atypical and "authentic" place a few steps from the Central Station. Don't hesitate to have a portion of apple pie / Chantilly and a coffee ☕️: it is certainly worth that of another much more famous place! Attentive and pleasant service.

Terrible service myself snd the wife popped in for a coffee, when there was nothing on the menu we wanted we went to leave the guy behind the bar was incredibly rude. He's actually lucky my wife heard what he said and not myself as I wouldn't have minced my words with him. Avoid at all costs

We always go there during our stays in Amsterdam and then every day. We love the atmosphere of the old café there and the really friendly gentlemen and the young lady who work there. We will always come back.

01.2025 We were here twice. On the first evening the team was better, friendlier. The Irish coffee was great. The Amstel Bock is delicious. The Borrelplank with Kaas&Worst was great. On the second day the waiters were a bit grumpy at first, but they improved. But. The bitterballen mix was terrible Go to Majestics and eat them there.

One of my favourite bars where you can sit outside and watch all the people walking and biking near Central Station. A small bar inside with sand on the floor like the old days. It even has original Delft tiles around the fireplace. Good toasty sandwiches and drink selections. Thw friendly staff makes you feel welcome.

I was looking forward to visiting the oldest pub in Amsterdam for a meal. The white-haired male at the bar was super unwelcoming and very rude. Not only verbally and but also waving his hand around. Do not visit this place if you don't want your mood being spoiled by an unhappy and miserable staff members. There are plenty of other places to visit where you will be welcomed and will not feel sorry for spending your money.

Well, it was ok for a quick café. Listless waiter who reluctantly does his job. Quaint Loka easily accessible. Not a highlight

As an Amsterdammer you no longer have to go here to get a cup of coffee. You are drawn into deceiving tourists. More than €21 for two vases and a beer is downright criminal. A star for the memory of the past and a star for the old Amsterdammers behind the tap. For the rest I think something more normal.

A good place to eat and drink in a good atmosphere. Being on vacation with my girlfriend, we decided to eat a pizza and drink some beers there this evening. The welcome and service were very professional and in a good mood. We'll be back for sure the next time we come, full of love from France and good luck!

Very good experience in this establishment! We spent a pleasant evening with my partner, the staff is super pleasant and kind. The drinks and food are delicious and affordable. I highly recommend if you want to have a good time alone or with others!!!

Ok so I arrived in Amsterdam and stop to this dutch café to try dutch Coffee Nice. Amazing servers they smoke in english to help found the good stuff. One of them even smoke french and knew I was from Quebec and too and toad me À la prochaine! when I left 10/10

Enjoy beer, sandwiches, and a cafe near the station where you can see lots of people moving around! The location is good, but the food is not that good! It's just normal! But I'm satisfied!

Terrible service, we just wanted to order some coffees to go and the men behind the bar started mocking my accent and give us an aggressive treatment, there is enough bars around amsterdam to avoid this one. RACIST AND RUDE

terrible service. not welcoming & unkind. i was feeling extremely sick and needed the restroom, my partner (who had literally just payed for a product) (overpriced small water bottle, if youd like to know) desperately asked if we could use the restroom, to which the (i assume) owner pushed us onto the road yelling "dont make your problem my problem". which is VILE. i ended up throwing up on the street, where the same guy *pushed us aside again* to clean up after me, while i was still throwing up. if he had let us in, he wouldn't have had to clean the street outside. evil. do not give money to them.

Excellent service and wonderful food

The beauty of this bar is definitely unmatched and it's very cool to see some of the original photos. We made a pit-stop here on our way to the train after our brother in law mentioned it was the oldest bar in town. With that said, expect a very simplistic menu. We came in for a espresso drink, but it was one that was made by the machine which was a bit disapointing. A cool place to see but not necessarily a must stop for us.

Excellent service and very good place

Terrible human beings, we were customers, we paid, one of us was sick, we needed the toilette. They pushed us out and then pushed us away from the street in front (wich they do not own) while one of us was throwing up. Very terrible people and also overpriced, walk like 5 min more and go somewere else where humans are considered as such.

Amsterdam is my favourite place and can’t believe I could find anything I would ever dislike but unfortunately Cafe Karpershoek beat me to it. It was a hot day but the café didn’t make any efforts to make it any comfortable indoors. The racist staff was rude as the lady tried to initially block us when we tried to find a spot instead of greeting a customer but we ignored it and sat down. After a bit when we couldn’t bear the heat that was built up inside we decided to leave , she rudely asked us to pay €1 for using the toilet. Absolutely appalling, definitely never going back.

Such a gorgeous and historic brown bar that has served a wide and delicious range of beers for centuries. There is so much character and charm at Café Karpershoek - from the artwork to the walls themselves. The staff are friendly and quick on their feet - amazing service in an amazing place. So happy I was able to grab a vaasje here.

Drank coffee and water. Friendly service. Good prices. Top!

Been this place each time i've been Amsterdam. Such a fresh and a refreshing pint is served. Next time i'm in Amsterdam i'll be heading straight here for a beer.

Service and atmosphere was great! Cozy pub with tons of history in the heart of Amsterdam a few steps away from Central Station! Built in 1606, it is said to be the oldest pub in Amsterdam, and we see why it stood the test of time! They were playing classic salsa on the afternoon we visited. Also met some locals, and they introduced us to Jenever (Dutch / juniper gin) . We had a traditionally served in a tulip shaped glass. To mix that with a beer it was a great old time!

Simple, ask for a beer, get it, pay, no waiter timewasting. Fancy another! Update 12 years later, no bar ordering but the service is very quick and friendly. Perfect for a pint or several and such a warm, friendly place

Supposed to be the oldest bar in Amsterdam. I saw some reviewer that complained about the beer menu not being that good, but of course when you visit a place like this you have to get a Heineken. The two bartenders were two of the most friendly bartenders I've met my entire life. The wooden rafter ceilings are very cool.

We called in and had a bottle of wine wile waiting for our canal cruise, it was that nice after the cruise we went back for another 2 bottles of wine 🤣🤣.. the owner is lovely and service is amazing.

The staff is incredible rude. I just entered holding a can of coke and they said to me throw it away AND that I was stupid for doing it. The menu is expensive by the way, so try another options around anyway.

Customers with a baby trolley are not allowed inside, arrogant waiter/owner. constant flow of tourist in Amsterdam makes any dump such as this one full of customers, avoid it if you can and go to any other bar worth your respect and money

Unfortunately some people in service industry don’t know how to interact with customers. This is one of those places. People are unnecessarily rude. Food was a disaster. They serve frozen ready to eat pizza and some other snacks. I would suggest trying other places around to sit.

Oudste kroeg van Amsterdam, gezellig & bruin. In verkeringstijd pleisterplaats. Jammer dat we geen zuiveringszand meer op de vloer ligt.

Naar verluidt het oudste nog bestaande kroeg etablissement in Amsterdam.... Hoe het ook zij.... bijzonder sfeervolle bruine kroeg in "the middle of the action". Laat u niet afschrikken door bierdrinkende toeristen die buiten zitten...binnen is het warm, knus en gezellig. Uitstekende service en goed bier!

One of my favourite bars in Amsterdam. Always my first go to bar when I arrive. The staff are great. Very friendly. The drinks are reasonably priced as well. Been coming here for years and will hopefully continue to do so in years to come.

Café pintoresco y típico en Ámsterdam. La comida buena, tiene muy buena situación y no es muy caro. El personal no fue muy agradable pero era de esperar. Se recomienda para probar comida tipica como quesos.

They should be open until 2:00 AM. I went in about midnight saturday evening, the old bartender guy sad, they were closing. I sad, according to the net, they were open till 2:00 AM. He sad: I don't care about it. IT'S NOT FAIR! Why I give 2 stars instead of 1: Before, a few years ago, a good guy was the bartender, his name was Alex, he was very nice.

Great service as British tourist. We literally just had to sit down and have our drinks refilled whenever we wanted them. Great service from the guy with grey hair. Clean toilet. Not a bad thing to say about the place.

Old cafe from 1606 the story makes it worth a visit over the other cafes nearby. Really busy position but with a great view to the church and central station. I do not care for the central area but of cause need to visit it as part of being a tourist. The service was great and aware. It was Easy to get a table. The drinks was fine. Didn't get any snacks.

We only came for a drink while waiting for our canal cruise. Super quick service, friendly staff. Classic pub style drinks, don't recommend for cocktails. The inside area has some great old style charm/character. Toilets were also very clean
