Hello, I visited your establishment today and may have lost my wallet there. It contained some cash that could serve as a reward, but my driver's license is what matters most to me; I would be grateful for any information.

Bar tender was very rude. We were asked to choose our own seats. Then were yelled at when we tried to use the bathroom before we were served. Just not worth it.

Lovely Amsterdam service from two men who mostly just look at you to see what you're doing there. Coffee not great, but acceptable. If you can sit outside in the morning, do it. It's busy, but the world passes you by.

Loved this place full of history and the food was nice snacks plate is good 👍 we had lovely staff and everyone was friendly.

Bartender very aggressive when I was just asking for a seat, aggressive attitude continued over the 45 minutes I was here and was the cause of me leaving only because I tried to pay at the bar one time because was my first day in Amsterdam

Completely overpriced!! I paid €13.50 for 0.2 liters of water and 10 measly cream puffs. Sure, the city center is expensive, but on top of that, the waiter was unfriendly.

I found the waiter very rude. We were just going to use the toilet, which was completely out of the question. We offered to buy something, and he had the most condescending attitude I've ever encountered. It's fine to be polite, which we were. It's incredibly sad to have the day ruined for two tourists who were in a good mood :(

I completely understand that restrooms are reserved for paying customers, and I approached the situation with that in mind. I politely asked if I could use the toilet, fully expecting that I might need to buy something first, which I had absolutely no problem doing. Instead of simply explaining that, the person behind the bar responded in a rude and arrogant manner, repeatedly saying, “It’s only for customers.” I immediately acknowledged that I understood and even asked how much I needed to spend or whether I could buy a beer or something else. Yet rather than answering my question, he kept repeating the exact same sentence over and over, each time in a more dismissive and condescending tone. What bothered me was not the policy itself—I completely respect a business wanting to reserve its facilities for customers. The issue was the attitude. A simple and friendly explanation would have been perfectly fine. Instead, I was treated with unnecessary hostility and passive-aggressive behavior by someone who appeared to be in charge of the place. It was an extremely unpleasant interaction and left a very negative impression.

Excellent service! They made a mistake when bringing us the beer. And one of the people had already taken a sip, and they didn't charge us for it!

Last Sunday, while waiting for the salon boat, a reservation was made for 20 guests on the terrace at eleven o'clock. Good service, delicious coffee, and excellent apple pie!

This is the best apple pie I've ever had. Right in the middle of Amsterdam's hustle and bustle. Great atmosphere, great people watching while drinking coffee.

Friendly service, a quaint and old-world atmosphere, and delicious sandwiches. Tasty vintage beers. Here you can watch the hustle and bustle of the city with a view of the train station and relax if you're too tired. It's been around since 1606. A welcome respite after a disastrous night in a hotel.

Popped in here ahead of a boat tour. Was a lovely place to sit and watch the world go by, and the history was amazing. We ordered food and I must say it wasn’t the best at all. Lack of flavour, needed a lot of sauce to get through it. But a lovely spot for drinks, history and watching the world go by!

We visited this place two days in a row as tourists. The lady who served us on the first day was very polite, but I can't say the same for the two elderly men. The shorter, overweight man with glasses had a constantly sullen expression and slammed the beer and water glasses he brought to the table as if he were trying to break them. Thinking we had done something wrong, we paid the bill and quickly left.

I heard it's a 400-year-old cafe. Since it was cold outside the train station and we couldn't get an Uber, we went in to sit and have some hot drinks. We ordered hot chocolate and red wine, and also some classic local dishes: fried meatballs and Dutch waffles. Everything was alright, except we didn't really like the Dutch meatballs. The staff were friendly, and everyone was quite chill.

Asked for a euro to use the toilet, quite rudely, I said yes, but after I go to the toilet then she secretly tried to charge two euros 😂 so I walked out and told her to call the police instead.

Oldest pub in Amsterdam. Nice atmosphere. Interesting to sit on the terrace outside and watch the flow of people walking and cycling. No cycling accidents occurred during the three occasions I was there. Very small selection of snacks. No peanuts served.

It's a great spot to experience the city's energy. Sitting at the tables outside and people-watching is a lot of fun. The city's people offer a visual feast. The drinks menu is extensive. The Amstel-Rose will leave a nice fruity taste in your mouth. The main train station is right opposite, Grab a bite to eat on your way there or going to. People-watch….

Had a drink on the terrace this week with guests from the USA (just waiting for the boat tour). What a bad-tempered waiter; he threw the menu holder and coaster holder on the table from 1.5 meters away. Unfortunately, I had to feel seriously ashamed in front of my guests. Staff are not a showcase for this establishment.

Friendly service, but reheated frozen pizza is unacceptable! Unfortunately, the pizza was also spoiled, so now I have food poisoning.

A quaint and traditional spot for a beer and some local snacks. The poffertjes are better than Pat's famous ones. The Bitterballen are decent. The music is at a comfortable volume for conversation. The service is efficient, provided by a waitress, and a rather atypical but friendly older waiter is charming. A good place to relax in the busy city center.

A nice old style bar. With very efficient but abrupt servers. I ordered a low alcohol beer and got looked down at because of it. I noticed them do this to a senior couple too. It is not the experience you want. The atmosphere between guests was great.

Not a place I'd recommend for tourists who don't speak much English. One day they treated us well, the next they treated us like dogs, with zero patience and no cooperation whatsoever, even mocking us. Very rude and obnoxious waiter. We stopped here and needed to use to restroom. The waiter was very unpolite and ordered us to leave. When we said we were willing to order something, he said they were too busy and wouldn't serve us. There are thousands of other places in Amsterdam, I would definitely avoid this one.

Extremely hostile environment. I would recommend this place to someone I don't like. Very scammy. My friend and I needed to use the bathroom urgently, so I asked at the bar. They said no unless you order something. And were pretty aggressive about it. I was clear that we weren't going to drink anything, but they kept pressuring. Sure--I asked for a Heineken and they only offered their larger sized glasses (I didn't realize until after). 5,50 for something neither of us is going to drink as we were headed on a boat tour next. Then, when I get to the WC, there is a sign on the door that says 1 EUR for non-customers! So I overpaid by 4,50 because in the end, my friend didn't feel comfortable using it at all with the atmosphere. And he was pressuring her to get something as well.

They were incredibly rude at this place.. I went in for a drink but went to the toilet first.. they were shouting and screaming at me.. I got my drink.. they made me sit down in front of the whole restaurant.. very rude and disrespectful.. lucky I didn’t smack the old man in the face..

Always our starting point for a pub crawl through Amsterdam is the Martelaarsgracht. It's a lot of fun.

Just popped in for a coffee on our last morning in Amsterdam. Good quality coffee in a nice old pub in the old part of town. Couldn't get anymore European if you tried.

Stopped for lunch. Before heading to the train station. Ask the board tender if we could bring our luggage in. He said no problems shut down when the waitress showed up. She said whose luggage is that when I told her it was mine. She said that was going to be a problem. Once I looked at the menu and saw how sparse their offerings were, I looked at my wife and said, I don't think we need the attitude, let's find somewhere else when we got up. I nodded to the woman and said we're going to find somewhere else. Thank you, she referred perfect. I think she was very happy for us to leave. Thank you, national.

Oldest bar in Amsterdam. The bartender was perfectly brash and the server was lovely. We had the meatballs and cheese tray which was fabulous. Sit outside on the sidewalk and was completely moved by the energy of all the beautiful people of Amsterdam.

It’s a charming and cozy café, perfect for a tired traveler looking for tea and a quick snack. 🤩 The place offers a lovely view and is conveniently located near the train station. 😍 We ordered the Dutch cheese, which was delicious but quite a large portion, so unfortunately we couldn’t finish it and the remaining wasn’t packed for us to take away.🤨

They have such a volume of work that they don't even look for a table! As soon as I entered, they sent me to McDonalds!! Unpretentious!!!

We wanted to use the restroom because the kid had to go to the toilet urgently, but the bartender wouldn't let us. I will never go through that door again, and I wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends.

Great place to visit, chat along with the bartenders and locals whilst having a nice drink in between visits. Came here a couple of times during the visit and would recommend for anyone to stop for at least a drink and a chat

Awesome. That old school "bruin cafe" experience in what's, supposedly, the oldest pub in Amsterdam. Whether it is, or not, a great place. We went there twice to sit outside, enjoy a drink and do some people watching. Always something to see outside, staff is great, friendly, they dress the part as well. Recommended!

Very unpleasant waiter, rude attitude

Not a good place for tourists, racist. I'm just realizing they wouldn't give me food. I had a beer there and regretted the bad experience of going in. The gray-haired man at the bar was very unpleasant and rude. Not just with words, but also with his hand gestures. Don't go there if you don't want a disgruntled and disheartened staff to ruin your day. There are plenty of other places that will welcome you with open arms and you won't regret spending your money.

Very rude barman: “are you not raised well” excuse me? This barman has a problem, i have no clue what it is. I come over more places nearby, everything around is friendly, but this guy and the workers there, so rude.

I was on my holidays and the man behind the bar was horrible. He came over and told the group I was with that we must order more drinks. The bar was empty. If I could give 0 stars I would.

After a long day of travel, we stopped in for some much-needed food and ordered the classic Dutch pancakes and coffee. The food was good—warm, satisfying, and hit the spot—but not particularly memorable. What stood out, however, was the excellent service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and easy to chat with, making us feel right at home. It’s a great spot to relax, enjoy a drink, and take in the street scene outside. Whether you're people-watching on the terrace or having a casual conversation with the bar staff inside, the welcoming atmosphere makes it worth a visit.

I'm giving it one star because it's not possible to give it a zero. A terrible experience, very, very bad service, rude people, and it's also very expensive. We ordered a couple of bottles of water and took three to the bathroom. They treated us horribly, saying we couldn't go in and that we had to pay an extra euro per person. When we left, they laughed at us and made fun of us.

The atmosphere and service were very nice. The prices were very reasonable. If you want to drink something in a nice atmosphere in Amsterdam, I would say don't bother looking for another place.

Ordered with my family some plates: tomato soup which came straight out of the microwave with soup powder. Burger with fries which tasted like I would not be even able to describe in words. Avoid this place, unless you like bad food and throwing your money away

Don’t go here, tourist trap prices! I ordered a large apple bandit beer for over €12, one beer! Even for two beers it would have been too expensive. I think it is downright antisocial to ask such prices. In New York I even paid less for a beer
