Beautifully situated, nostalgic

THE pub of Haarlem on the most beautiful square in the world

We sat down for lunch on the sunny terrace. The tuna salad sandwich was generously filled. The cornbread was okay, but nothing more. The cappuccino was nice and hot. The chairs weren't very comfortable.

While Haarlem has been transforming into a plethora of coffee shops and other trendy craft beer establishments for years, Café Marktzicht retains its character. A simple pub with a terrace on the market square. Cold beer and fast service.

It was a lot of fun until we left. We had just paid and were already putting on our coats on the terrace when a waitress with stuffed lips rudely chased us away because an apparently regular customer wanted to sit. Then we were also told by the regular customer to fuck off, while we were already trying to leave. The two stars are for the fun before we left and the other waitress.

Love this place. As we only get to Haarlem about three times a year this is one of our main hang outs. Service is excellent, beer is great and the outside seating wonderful. Their wings are the best.

Very good service and very good food, very clean inside shame we did not have longer to stay due to our time back on the ferry to Newcastle.

Mooie plek, aardige mensen in de bediening. De lekkerste tosties van de wijde omgeving. Donderdag t/m zondag heerlijke broodjes voor een zeer redelijke prijs. Aanbevolen!

On my son's rainy rainy birthday we happened upon this lovely little place. There was a corner covered in balloons- we assumed it had been reserved for a birthday, but no, we could sit there! With our birthday man. What serendipity. Dry out, warm up, and eat tasty Dutch snacks. The staff were a little busy but really friendly and polite, and we were not in a rush. Only- we ate so many tasty snacks we did have to postpone our birthday dinner later, haha.

Leuke zaak in een prachtige stad. Kom zeker terug in Haarlem. De Brand Tripelbock van de tap was heerlijk. Aardige meiden!

Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Hadden wijn besteld en kregen er een glas water bij zonder te vragen. Deze stond ook niet op de rekening later. Dat noem ik nou service. Zeker een aanrader.
