Café Ons Huis in Jordaan

Haven't had lunch in such a beautiful setting in a long time. With the €9.50 Social Deal, it was absolutely AMAZING. Oh, they do speak English in 'Ons Huis'... well, Amsterdam, right?

Never knew it, I ended up here through a social deal. Unfortunately, it was empty... nevertheless, we had a nice seat in the beautiful atmosphere with attentive service. Definitely worth going back, but this time for cocktails at the bar in the evening.

A beautiful, stately building with preserved authentic details. The staff welcomed us kindly and politely. After our order was served, we chatted for a long time, but no one came to our table to clear it or ask if we wanted more, even though it was very quiet. A missed opportunity. We had purchased a 12-uurtje snack through a social deal. What we received was different from what was stated in the deal and certainly less than what was offered. No quiche or croquette. No sandwich. Just two slices of bread (toast) and a little soup. No bottle of water. Coffee and tea were provided. It tasted delicious! All in all, a fine snack, but it didn't quite feel right.

Restaurant somewhat out of the "loop" which tried to attract new customers with a social deal. This will not be possible with the 12 hours we consumed. A mini vase of soup, a croquette on half a slice of bread and something that should be egg salad on the other half of the slice of bread. In the context of "attracting customers", the whole thing seems a bit forced and in terms of price/quality it is noticeable that the taste of the soup and the croquette was good and the ambiance was nice but not special. Tip: stop the social deal and make the cook happy with guests with refined culinary tastes and, in terms of prices, do just like the rest of the catering industry in Amsterdam.

The place looks absolutely beautiful, but the bites we got served with our cocktails just came straight out of a can. Not worth your money.

Wij hadden een social deal 2 vouchers gekocht voor dit prachtige plekje! Helaas was dit restaurant gesloten.. bij aankomst werden wij toch erg vriendelijk ontvangen werd excuses gemaakt en kregen we gelijk een speciaal biertje & een luxe coctail aangeboden Top tent !!

Beautiful beautiful place.. great portion sizes. Paulina gave excellent service. Unfortunately once she left we really noticed the service going down (still very friendly personel)

Het is eten hier is erg lekker. Steak tartare en garnalen kroketjes waren goed gemaakt en op smaak. Als hoofdgerecht ossenhaas met truffeljus. De ossenhaas was zeer goed gebakken. Wij zaten vol dus geen dessert meer genomen.

Mooi historisch buurthuis & monumental gebouw en dit chique restaurant "Ons Huis" is onderdeel van het luxe 4**** Hotel Mercier met veel aandacht voor de inrichting & speciale interieur objecten..maar het restaurant zat eigenlijk leeg toen wij er op 'n zondagse avond waren?..de tafels zijn eigenlijk te klein en het jonge personeel leek wat onhandig en onervaren..ons eten was zeker niet slecht, maar ook niet zo bijzonder en voldoende voor de prijs😉..tja, we hadden 'n betere **** totaalervaring gezien, maar dit werd wat ons betreft helaas niet waargemaakt!

Fantastic service, very friendly and attentive, almost like I am not in the Netherlands. Very chill and comforting atmosphere. Good food and nice wine pairing, and very good fresh oysters 😻

Food and wine were good. The place is neat. Two major accidents: When paying the bill, we discovered that we would be charged for a full menu even though we only took main dish and dessert. I wish the waiter mentioned to us that it wasn’t an option to not take the starters. The meat was served without the wine, we were done with the meat when the second bottle of wine finally arrived on the table.

Not sure what to think of this restaurant really. They obviously put a lot of thought into the looks, but then the tables are so small you constantly have to puzzle with plates and glasses. The menu is quite small with some classics and some more creative dishes. The bisque and cod were delicious, but the duck was not tender enough and the sweet potatoe fries could have been amazing if only they didn't had to wait under the lamps until the other dishes could be served. The waiting staff was good but sometimes there were very long unexplainable breaks between the courses. Overall we had a nice time but don't plan on coming back.

Lovely meal in the perfect environment. Pea soup starter was excellent and the steak main was perfect!

Vriendelijke dame die ons hielp. Het menu was heerlijk. Mooie zaak, erg stijlvol.

Charmante en vriendelijke bediening. Door corona maatregelen stil. Fraai interieur met een in het oog springende eenhoorn. 3-gangendiner: hoofdgerecht sliptong en mosselen uitstekend.

Luxurious café with a raisonable prices

Erg lekker gegeten en vriendelijk geholpen. Prijs-kwaliteit verhouding echt top! De locatie en sfeer is heel leuk en inspirerend; je kijkt je ogen uit naar al het moois. Cocktails aan de bar ook erg lekker, helaas erg rustig vanwege de pandemie crisis op het moment, maar ik kom zeker terug in betere tijden. Enige opmerking: bij de reservering hadden we aangegeven beide intolerant te zijn voor gluten. Het was fijn geweest als ze daar iets mee hadden gedaan door bijv. glutenvrij brood op tafel te zetten, iets wat andere restaurants vaak wel doen. Verder top! Kom zeker terug!

Lekker gegeten bij café ons huis. Mooi inrichting en goed bediening het was alleen een beetje rustig dus kom op mensen proberen maar!

¡Buena comida! Fantástico servicio! Tuve los huevos Benedict. Estaba perfectamente preparado y satisfactorio. A mi esposa le gustó la sopa de guisantes. Era un maravilloso verde vivo. Volviendo mañana.

In dit gebouw waren ooit een buurthuis en het COC gevestigd. Sinds kort is het een hotel (Hotel Mercier) met een prachtige lobby en grand café waar het fijn toeven is, o.a. omdat het zo mooi is opgeknapt en gestyled. De oude elementen van het gebouw komen zo echt tot zijn recht.

Ik zou zeggen: lees de recensie in de NRC van 4 januari en je weet dat je beter elders je heil kunt zoeken.

Menu has not enough dishes; Ceasar Salad was really bad, the chicken was cold and seem to have come out of a package. The atmosphere is not very cosy. Will not go anymore.

Delicious food, friendly service, delightful interior and atmosphere. Possibly the most delicious and tender steak tartare I’ve ever had and the dorado was divine, with hints of buttery lavender. The cocktail bar is also really lovely.

Aanrader! Gezellige bar waar je even lekker een drankje vooraf kan doen. Het restaurant heeft een luxe uitstraling maar niet te overdreven, heel erg fijn. Goede kaart, met prima prijzen. Het eten was erg lekker. Service was zeker goed

We had a great dinner with our family of 6. Food was really good. Great location. We had vegetarian food and a great steak for 2. I don’t know why more people aren’t here, we have the whole restaurant/ chefs to ourselves and I won’t complain because our experience was amazing. My daughters had: steak tartar, Mercier Mac & cheese, barley risotto. Lots of great cocktails with rosemary/vodka drinks...Pink Gerry? Yum! Setting off the beaten track but doors are open
