We had a great meal, but unfortunately, we didn't have much time for a quick meal. Everything was great.

This is food as it should be. With lots of vegetables, and everything equally delicious.

Very friendly welcome and great service.

I was there today with some cycling friends. Very, very friendly, very, very tasty; it couldn't be better. Thank you.

We all opted for the three-course menu. The food was delicious. It was great that, in addition to the delicious fried potatoes and fries, salad and vegetables were also served. The schnitzels were generously doused with sauce. A bit too much, actually. It would have been better to offer the sauce in a jug. That way, everyone could decide how much they wanted.

A wonderful, pleasant, and cozy place to just sit down, have lunch, or grab a bite to eat. Several options are available, but each has its own unique character, and this one is definitely not to be missed!

Stegers still has a kind of old-fashioned charm 😀 A wide selection on the menu, and certainly enough on your plate or in the accompanying bowls. This restaurant, which also has a separate snack bar, is a household name in our village, and who doesn't know it? ☺️🤗 We hope they'll be the face of the Markt for years to come, with their charming building and terrace 😀 Review updated on September 9, 2025: Unfortunately, they were taken over in 2025, and things haven't stayed the same since. The quality and flavors aren't as good as before, and it's clearly cheap! 😞 I've updated the stars based on my current opinion as of September 2025.

Friendly staff who go above and beyond. Delicious food, great atmosphere, always a pleasure to eat here.

I had to wait and see whether it would still be that good after the takeover, but it was really great!

A quick review specifically about the cafeteria/snack bar, since it's really been a mess since the takeover. Where a plain schnitzel used to cost around €9.00 (I don't remember the exact amount), it's now suddenly €14.00. At the snack bar... The sauce is, of course, and rightly so, even more expensive, but it shows that the new bosses want nothing more than to use the customer as a cash cow. The meatballs have also been a disaster since the takeover, and the homemade fried potatoes, unless they're back now, are also no longer available. All in all, there's nothing left of Snackbar Stegers' original identity, and well, after all these years of enjoying it, I'm done with it. If I do go to the snack bar, it'll probably be for a croquette and fries at most, but I can get those anywhere in Aalten. What are we doing? I thought it would be helpful to mention this, so that people who order by phone don't suddenly encounter surprises at checkout.

Got food from the cafeteria. The schnitzel looked like it had been microwaved. What a dumpling, absolutely disgusting. Not going back.

The food is traditionally good! You get a lot of extras with your main course. Something I think is appropriate, but you rarely see it these days. Highly recommended! Also, very friendly and welcoming staff!!

Best restaurant in Aalten and the surrounding area👍👌 The main courses are served with all sorts of side dishes, such as fried potatoes, warm vegetable salad, fresh fruit, fries, etc. Eating out the way it should be, and all included in the price. Many restaurants could learn from this. Stegers, keep it up😁😁😁 The price-quality ratio is fantastic!

We went for dinner tonight; we've been coming here for years. It was always good! And the service was great. After tonight, we can't say that anymore. Long wait. Had to ask for drinks or the menu for dinner. It was raining, and there was no covered area for smoking. So we stood right outside the door. We were turned away and given no option. Rude staff. They won't see us again. It's a shame they came several times a month. Things certainly haven't improved since the takeover.

It is really good food, great service, and very fair prices

We have been ordering here for about 26 years, unfortunately the quality has deteriorated after the takeover. A crying shame! The fried potatoes have been replaced by cheaper slices, seasoned and prepared differently. The spareribs are tasteless, the schnitzel drier and without lemon. We have now found a good replacement, Vivaldi. But we really continue to miss the delicious creamy potatoes! I also do not really understand why you should change such successes. I would rather pay 2 euros more per container than pay the same for pre-packaged slices. A real shame.

We will definitely come back again.

For 23 years we have been picking up orders from Stegers or going out for a nice meal. Nice atmosphere and always good food. Today we ordered food from Stegers and the new owner. Crazy about Stegers spareribs, ordered these. They were very thickly fleshed but tasteless. I missed the delicious herbs and the spareribs from the grill where the meat slid off the bone. Now I think from the oven and with a very small amount of herbs but otherwise very tasteless. The well-known chicken cordon blue from Stegers is also no longer there. It tastes different and there is no ham in it anymore. They also forgot to give us part of the order. Since we have been picking up from Groenlo for 23 years, you don't just drive back to pick up the forgotten items. No, the spareribs that Stegers was famous for have become disappointing. And certainly not worth repeating. Very disappointed in the new kitchen quality of Stegers.

Sinds april 2025 zit er andere eigenaar op dit restaurant. Gelukkig is de kaart niet veranderd. Nog steeds lekkere spare ribs en vriendelijk personeel.

Had a delicious lunch with the whole family

As a French speaker who speaks a little Dutch (Belgian style!), I was very pleased with the service and the food! The staff were careful to use more common words when I didn't understand what they were saying. Thank you to them.

A very nice, clean restaurant with super delicious food❤️. Fish and salads were very well prepared. And the last time I had such a delicious chicken soup with so much meat was 15 years ago at my grandma's. Highly recommended!

Always friendly staff and good food for a fair price, worth taking a seat on a terrace

You have to wait a long time for good things. The food was very tasty and the portions were large, but we had to wait an hour for it and we were almost alone in the restaurant. The people who came after us got their food before us. Another thing I found really strange: I ordered a salad from the lunch menu, but I had to change it because everyone at my table had ordered something from the dinner menu. Or everyone had to order something from the lunch menu. Really not possible🙄

Had a great Schnitzel, the staff is really personal and friendly, concluded with a delicious Irish coffee. Hopefully this formula will continue to exist

2 weeks ago we had a super tasty meal, tasty, lots of vegetables... good amount of top! Highly recommended and hopefully it will stay that way...they will see me here again soon!

When I am in Aalten I usually go here and everything is always fine, this time too the food was good and the fries were tasty and hardly any hard pieces, and an excellent presentation of the satay (see photo)

This afternoon lunch and latte macchiato. Dinner tonight. Fried salmon and chicken satay. Finally, dessert: banana parfait and macaroon pudding. Delicious to eat your finger with. Friendly staff

A bit of a bad experience the last time at the takeaway. Incomplete order and did not receive everything paid for. There is no apologies upon collection, but only upon payment. Not in order. Food was also less than previous times. And it was not exceptionally busy at the takeaway.

Had a delicious meal at Stegers yesterday. They also have a vegan option now and that was a collection of beautiful dishes. And, as always with Stegers, more than enough (the photo is of the starter). Kudos to the chef!

Had a lovely lunch here. In addition, the coffee and apple pie from baker Vaags are delicious. As always it was well taken care of. The service was very friendly and hospitable. A large terrace with many shady areas.

Stegers is a household name in Aalten. The menu and decor have changed little since I came here as a child with my parents in the 1980s, but that's not a bad thing. Not everything has to be innovative and hip, sometimes something is good as it is. Recommended: fried mushrooms, snitzel, steak, pepper sauce. Portions are large and plenty of side dishes. This time we were here for our Christmas dinner with family. Delicious surprise menu, friendly service and the children could run around on the market square between courses.

We had dinner, it was really tasty. A delicious popon and carrot soup. And as a main course a pork tenderloin with champion cream sauce. I think it is recommended for everyone.

The service is no longer that good and guests had to wait 40 minutes for our food. When asked, the response was incomprehensible and then dad couldn't eat for 10 minutes and then it was wrong

Unfortunately, there was no response to just eating fries/frikandel and soup, while other people spent more than 100 euros. Because only fries were for the children, they said (while there is a drink of fries and mayo for €4. That doesn't make sense, but you can order bitterballen and mini frikandeltjes....

Always great! So last weekend was absolutely fantastic again. Main course and later dessert. The atmosphere was great and the staff was as friendly as always.
