We sat down on the terrace and were immediately treated wonderfully! A blanket, a heater, and water with our coffee. Great service. I'll be back!

I visited this place twice, the first time with a respectful lady it was good and great, but the second time with two boys it was bad on it 😣 they talk to each other all the time and the service was zero.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend that place.Very unpleasant atmosphere..especially when you speak English to them..The stuff was very grumpy.Our Dutch friend went to this place few days before and booked the table for us and they were nice but when couple of days later he brought us there, we felt very unwelcome..Looks like they don't like the foreigners there..because they were very friendly to the Dutch people sitting on the other tables and to us they gave nothing but cold and grumpy looks.The food was not good, steak was chewy and they didn't even ask how we want our steak to be prepared.Mussles are served without any kind of sauce and when our friend asked for a garlic sauce, the waiter said they serve their mussels without sauce, would be nice if they at least offered mayonnaise or even ketchup, as surely they have it in their kitchen.Will not be coming back here ever again.

What a fantastic place with truly un-Amsterdam service. In other words, the service was fantastic! As were the food and the location, by the way. We had a wonderful time sitting on the terrace in an oasis of tranquility. Thanks!

Great restaurant/café with a large terrace and enthusiastic service. Mainly locals, despite its location near Leidseplein.

Managed to get a table without booking it beforehand! The food was great, the wait was not that long, loved the steak and the beer.

A restaurant on a side street in Overtoom. Very quiet and pleasant. We were able to sit outside. The service wasn't unfriendly. We were allowed to sit after asking. The menu was interesting. We ordered starters and main courses. Thank goodness! The portions were very limited and the kitchen wasn't particularly professionally prepared. The prices are high and the value isn't worth it. We rated them too highly. We wouldn't come back.

This neighborhood cafe has been there for years. Pleasant atmosphere. Reasonable choice of drinks, kitchen somewhat limited.

They certainly weren't busy but it took forever to get our food. The servers were very nice but ...... The food was reasonably priced. We're not that experienced with French dining - it was good, not that great. We really enjoyed sitting outside. It was quiet and could have a good conversation. Perhaps some of the other menu items would have been better.

Super warm welcome by a nice young woman but unfortunately after her departure the service deteriorated drastically. The young man who collected our starters forgot to tell the kitchen to prepare our main course. He passed by our table several times without ever realizing that we were waiting for the main course. After 45 minutes we had to go inside to find out if we had been forgotten. That's not to mention the bread ordered and forgotten. Maybe it was just a bad evening for this server but it unfortunately colored our experience on April 27 at 6:30 p.m.

Man was exceptionally rude. We asked to get a table and he laughed about seating us and then walked away. We waited for a bit and then left. Skip this place and try many nearby spots w much better service

Great local pub to grab a beer and sit on the street. If the weather is nice the place will be packed with Dutch people.

Really didn’t feel welcomed there. It took quite some time to place an order for drinks and to get food menu. When we asked if we can order dinner, we were told that the order can be placed only in 10 minutes, because the kitchen is too busy. The restaurant was not full at all. Eventually we just left to get dinner somewhere else.

Qué hermoso y acogedor bistró. Tuvimos una fabulosa cena de San Valentín. Auténtica experiencia holandesa, gran servicio, deliciosa comida y un ambiente muy agradable.

Small cafe, leaning against old brown. Nice varied snack menu and diverse range of drinks. Friendly help and delicious snacks. Holtkamp bitterballen, a glass of red port and a delicious rose.

We visited for dinner and the food is excellent. Delicious, lovely sauces to accompany and generous portions for both the starters and mains. Their drink "The best dam g&t" was actually a top tier g&t and definitely lived up to expectations. The food did take a while to arrive, so dropping a star for that, but would still recommend this place for a nice meal.

Maybe just the wrong meal choice, as I did see quite some positive review on the food. But we just had a breakfast there, and food was pretty ordinary and portion size is relatively small… we ordered avocado toast, maybe there was too much lemon juice added to the avocado smash, the overall taste was too sour. But nothing too bad, just nothing worth to be appraised either unfortunately.

Nice staff, it is located in a very quiet street with plenty of space, the coffee and the bitterballen are delicious. I often come there for a cup of coffee and a beer. The terrace is partly covered with quite a lot of greenery around it.

Café Toussaint is a lovely café just away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The kitchen does a really good job on taste and quality. A nice neighborhood café where you can have a drink on the lovely terrace, but also enjoy a good meal. And the staff is really great! Attentive, sees everything happening on the terrace and really takes care of you. A gem in the city. There should be more of that. Oh and you can also play pétanque there. Very hip nowadays.

Food was great. Service was friendly and helpful, though difficult to flag down for ordering. Cous cous salad was tasty and the frites were really good!

Un peu surprise de l'assiette de ravioli du menu du jour facturé à 18€50 et affiché à 17euros 50 et surtout voyant que QUATRE raviolis dans l'assiette. Le serveur nous a dit que la cuisine allait fermer et quil fallait commander, peut être qu'il n'en restait plus.... Autre surprise en voyant les sardines, ils mont amené une boîte de sardines avec 3 tranches de pain, je m'attendais aux sardines grillées...quelle déception, j'avoue que le pain etait delicieux, la salade semoule falafel fut apprecie de ma copine, et le camembert chaud en apero nikel

we often dined here, but today the shift was terrible, today we waited for our lunch, more than 40 minutes, toast with cheese and roast beef sandwich... Although other people received their order earlier, they arrived later than us... we paid the entire check and left... hungry!!! I'm ashamed of this attitude, enjoy our tips!

Eşimle akşam hafif birşeyler yemek için gittik. Mutfak kapanmak üzere olmasına rağmen sadece menülerindeki domates çorbasını alacağımızı söyleyince kabul ettiler. Fakat çorba görüntü olarak çok iyi olmasına rağmen çorbadan önce 3 cm uzunlugunda bir naylon parçası çıktı.... ardından ince ince 4 adet daha plastik ince parçalar ağzıma geldi.ve çıkardım...) çorba tabağının sadece 1/5 ini içtim.bu parçalar da o kısımdan çıktı... tabi ki bu noktadan sonra artık çorbayı içemedim.. ücretini ödedik ve ardından ordaki bayana çorbadan çıkan masadaki plastik parçaları gösterdik.. biraz şaşırdı üzgünüm falan dedi....ama olan benim akşam yemeğime oldu .Amsterdamdaki son akşam yemeğim bu şekilde oldu...üzgünüm ama burdaki yemeklerin nasıl yapıldığı ve hijeni konusunda ciddi sıkıntılar var!!

One of the most uncomfortable experiences I've had in a long time. My friend and I decided to stop on their terrace for a drink. We were immediately approached by one of the staff members and told very rudely we couldn't sit if we wanted to eat. "Only drinks!" We said it's not a problem since that's what we aimed for. But it seemed it was still a problem for them. I'm not sure if it was the fact that we spoke English or that we were two women, but 1 minute later, another staff member came to us and asked (in English) who told us we could sit there. We replied that it was his colleague (in Dutch, to his immediate surprise), and he turned and left. As this was not enough, they then proceeded to ignore us. They took orders from all tables next to us, even from groups that came later. Interestingly enough, the tables on each side spoke Dutch. One wonders what we did wrong... It's such a shame because the place and terrace looked lovely. Definitely not going back! P.S. Dear Toussaint staff, being kind to people doesn't cost you a thing. It's free even if you encounter English-speaking customers. Fijne dag!

The terrace is nice and spatious. I went there with a friend on a friday evening for *one* beer and even though it was busy there were a few tables here and there. We sat down in one of them but it definitely seemed like we weren’t wanted there - twice we were asked who had sat us there and were told we couldn’t order food (there was food in some tables around us and waiters carrying snacks every now and then). It took over 20 minutes for someone to take our order (again, only two beers). My friend and I don’t speak Dutch to each other but we can speak to a decent level having lived here many years. Alas, it seemed like that wasn’t enough. When we spoke Dutch back we were met with a skeptic “ah you speak Dutch” and he switched back to English. Every other table was getting served with a smile or at least some acknowledgement while we were ignored. When our beers finally came, they were delivered to the wrong table. Very few times have I felt this unwelcome in Amsterdam. Or anywhere, for the matter.

Nice location but slow serving time, Mixed irders, food came in different phases and not correct. Waited an hour for an omlette meanwhile other tables arriving later got their orders faster. They told us that the food will be ready in 2 minutes (twice in 30 minutes).

Very long waiting time on the food which wasn’t amazing

I was very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. We had to wait an extremely long time for our food, and when it finally arrived, it was not good at all. Additionally, the waitstaff were unprofessional and inattentive. I do not recommend this place and will definitely not be returning.

Even though the drinks, food and ambiance of the place were good, the service was very bad. When we went there as two young girls, the manager of the place was very rude to us and made us feel that we were not wanted there. When we asked for the bill, he picked us up from the table and told us that we had to come to the cash register, but he made everyone else pay the bill at the table. The other waiters were very cheerful and friendly. Even though I enjoyed the wine and food very much, the manager really spoiled our mood that day.

Very nice place with perfect service! The food is authentic and traditional (croque monsieur and croque madame + quiche of the day validated). Very generous and affordable dishes.

I got into the restaurant hoping to get a quick drink as it was raining crazy. While having a drink I wanted to see lunch menu and there it is: One of the best open sandwiches I had in my life, you cannot go wrong with the chicken sandwich if you like light spicy from chicken and sauce and sour from the pickled vegetables. The service was lovely, friendly and amazing too.

Very nice café to visit on an autumn evening.

Our plan was to go to another place nearby, but everything there was full. But what luck: Toussaint is much more fun and the service was great! Nothing to complain about. Good breakfast, music in the background and the staff (who apparently still had to settle in) remained calm and professional. This is how it should be done!

The owner is very friendly and attentive. The prices are a little high, but the dishes are plentiful and the atmosphere is great. They have gluten-free bread and oat milk, as well as vegetarian dishes.

The dish of the day was endive stew. And the cook knows how to do this. Furthermore... always a good atmosphere. For years.

Echt een toprestaurant! Goede sfeer en heerlijk eten. Goede vriendelijke en servicegerichte bediening. Bij bestelling cappuccino wordt er automatisch water bij geleverd. Personeel heeft ondanks de drukte tijd voor een gezellig praatje en eten werd snel uitgeserveerd. Leuke lokatie! Aanrader!

We zaten heerlijk buiten. Het personeel werkte enorm hard Drie verschillende hoofdgerechten hadden we, alle drie erg lekker!

Hier kun je goed eten het personeel is heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam aanrader en goed ontbijt

Wij hebben hier twee dagen ontbijt gehad, hele leuke en gezellige tent met goed eten en heel vriendelijk personeel. Echt een aanrader.

Ik kom hier al best vaak En het is net alsof je in Frankrijk bent! Verder ook lokaal mensen uit de buurt. Prijzen erg hoog voor wat je krijgt, namelijk van de voorgerechten: €11 voor 2 kleine merguez worstjes en 1/2 broodje, met ook te weinig brood voor de beiden worstjes. En ik vind €17 voor een stuk quiche ook vrij aan de prijs. Voor een drankje en kleine snack kom ik terug, maar voor diner wat aan de prijs. De Holtkamp bitterballen zijn erg lekker en de rosé ook!

My favourite spot in Amsterdam for year, but the food has really gone down hill. Very small menu, a lot of stuff straight out of the fryer. Lacking care and attention in the kitchen.

This place looks the part and with the sheen of high end service I was hoping for more. Starter of tomatoes and cheese was fantastic the lamb stew was delicious but then I ordered the soufflet we waited 30 minutes for what was not a soufflet more a gooey centred burnt on the bottom sponge. What a shame. I did chase them about the dessert after 20 minutes and was told the chef was waiting to cook it but the oven had meat in it so there would be a delay. I can only think this was a cock up so do give it a chance just avoid the soufflet.

We were catered by Hallisa, extremely friendly and recommended us the mussels and the coffee dessert. Great food, great service and good pricing in general.

The food was great but the best part of the night was Hallisa, the waitress that made our experience amazing. Sweet, helpful and just so nice. As long as you keep her, this restaurant will succeed! Thanks Hallisa!

Bijzonder gezellig gegeten in dit restaurant. Er heerst een heerlijk ongedwongen sfeer met zeer vriendelijke bediening. Buiten is er ook een mooi terras. De Camembert vooraf was verrukkelijk. En de stoofschotel was ook top.

A neighborhood favorite. Quiet during the day, with friendly service. Holtkamp apple tarts are always better with slagroom (whip cream)! A good place to meet up with friends for drinks.

Quietly tucked away from the bustle of the Amsterdam tourist areas a great spot for delicious breakfast. The Croque monsieur and madame we agreed were the best we've had anywhere!

On a very pretty typical street in Amsterdam with a very friendly waitress and great eggs on toast at a reasonable price. Sat on the terrace and had a pleasant time will come back on an evening some time to sit in I think:)

It was our first day in Amsterdam and got our evening started relatively late. A good amount of places had kitchens closing for 830pm and couldn’t accommodate us. Toussaint was able to get us considering the late seating. The staff is courteous and attentive. The main room is small but warm and charming. We had a couple beers to start an Texel Skuumkoppe a delicious Affligem Blond beer both served perfectly. For dinner we had the Chicken Special for the night which was a roasted chicken w lemon as seasoning , with side of potatoes and carrots. We also had the Sausage dinner w mashed potatoes and vegetables. Both dinners were good portions, but most importantly well prepared and seasoned and you can tell that the dishes were fresh and made to order. For dessert we had the apple pie w ice cream and whipped cream and a slice of carrot cake. Both deserts were well made without any over sweetness and they hit the spot perfectly. Overall highly recommend this place for a quick lunch or casual dinner. Solid value for the food. Atmosphere is calm and quaint and very cute. Very good start to our mini stay in Amsterdam.
