Very nice tent, definitely recommended!!

My wife and I had a fantastic evening here. Delicious dishes with lovely wine pairings and excellent service. The only downside... the bill was quite disappointing; we had a lunch menu and ordered an additional dish and a cheese board each, but each dish was charged separately on the bill. After some surprise, I discussed the matter with two managers, but they insisted on the bill they had prepared, which I consider unfair and considerably more expensive. That was a minor setback at the end of a wonderful evening at Visscher!

Restaurant Café Vischer is exactly what a good restaurant should be. Here, hospitality truly takes center stage: the service is warm, professional, and genuinely friendly. You immediately feel welcome. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with a refined feel. The wine list is excellent, with bottles averaging around €50, and the dishes are also of a high standard. We chose to fill the evening with various appetizers to share—and it turned out to be a hit. From the crab on brioche to the lobster soup, from the leek to the steak tartare, and finally, the glazed pork belly: every single one was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and presented with care. If we had to mention one point of criticism, it would be the leek dish that lacked some flavor, although the other ingredients were excellent. But that's really like looking for a needle in a haystack. This restaurant has everything it takes to be called a top-notch restaurant. No wonder you have to book well in advance—we completely understand why. We will definitely be back!

Lunch here was fantastic. The food and wine were truly delicious (I've never had such a delicious tuna salad), and the service was very friendly. Let me start by saying that the staff is excellent. That's certainly not the problem. However, the food is disappointing, especially considering it has a Bib Gourmande award. The wines are a bit expensive for the lack of quality and flavor. For this standard and price, you'd also expect an amuse-bouche, but that didn't happen. There are better alternatives in Leiden and the surrounding area.

Went to Café Visscher for the second time. Not a café, but a full-fledged restaurant with a very good chef. The wines we were served with the dishes were perfectly paired; we didn't have to call for a waiter at any point. All in all, excellent! I recommend the pork belly as a starter and the plaice fillet as a main course (so tender!). I'll definitely be back.

What a great place. I was told about it by a friend. I've been coming to Leiden for a long time but had never heard of it. If you arrive at 9pm you will be welcomed just as hospitably as if it were 11am. Great table on the terrace. Service - just real professionals - superior as well as all main courses and appetizers. We'll be back. Just looked inside and what a beautiful place. So after the terrace I'm looking forward to the fall and winter

Had a wonderful evening here with my girlfriend. The service is knowledgeable and not pushy. The food was delicious, the plaice fillet as a main course was good, but I personally found the pork belly with eel as a starter really fantastic. I was also happy with the wine list, many different choices and neatly organized. I will definitely come back.

Ate here via American Express offer, low-threshold introduction to the dinner dishes. We were a bit afraid whether it would not be too stiff or too French. No idea why we thought that. Had lunch here with a friend. In terms of atmosphere and service, it is like being in an episode of With the knife on the table. As far as I'm concerned, the service could be a little more relaxed, but they are smooth and things are arranged before you have to indicate it. For this price it is more than good food. It's a small menu, but what they do they do well. A lot of other restaurants in this price range could be ashamed. Cafe Visscher is on the shortlist for me when I'm in the area.

We were a bit early, the kitchen opened at 12 noon. Waited with cappuccino, tea and water. Egg Benedict and Egg Royale were very special with the sweet brioche underneath. We have never tasted the sticky dessert and cremeux coffee like this. Hats off to the chef.

Good food (Côte de Boeuf) with a nice 2018 Masi Amarone. Nice informal atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable table service and the proud chef/owner Arie who comes to visit us. What more could you want? It costs a bit, but then you get something. I'm a fan. ❤️

This one, the service slipped a number of times: slow with menu, order mistake that took two requests before it was fixed, incorrect bill (that was corrected immediately). First of all: the food (steak and steak tartare) was very good, I suspect that the mayo with the fries was not home-made (Brander?) but I forgive the chef for that. However, the service still needs some organization. Even though there were many staff present, we had to wait a very long time for the menu and then again for a piece of bread, even though we had indicated that we really needed it. That was a bit of a contrast to the rest of the experience, which was definitely good.

My son's birthday is a day after mine, so last Thursday we went to eat at a restaurant that had been on our bucket list for a long time. 'Café Visscher' in Leiden The name is an understatement. It is a full-fledged restaurant by Arie Visscher, former chef of star restaurants Joelia in Rotterdam and Librije in Zwolle. Then I don't have to say much about his level of cooking. It is not without reason that Michelin rewarded this “luxury brasserie” with a Bib Gourmand for its excellent price-quality ratio. The latter was precisely his objective. We started the dinner with a delicious glass of Champagne, after all we had 2 birthdays to celebrate. The menu contains imaginative starters, I couldn't choose. So Luuk and I took 3 starters to share. Start with a foamy lobster soup with shrimps, tarragon and crème fraîche. A steak tartare with a roof of crushed lagoustine and XO cream. And the fried pork belly with chorizo, tomato and soy beurre blanc. The lobster soup was tasty and richly filled with shrimp and lobster. A bisque the way you like it. The steak tartare was delicately flavored. As an extra, I opted for a generous luxurious topping of Perle Imperial Caviar. The slightly salty full flavor was a nice addition to the already delicious dish. The fried pork belly was full of flavor, with a freshness from the tomato, an extra salt from the chorizo ​​and a sweetness from the delicious soy beurre blanc. I actually wanted to lick the plate. Not done, but perhaps the ultimate compliment for the Chef. My main course was a sirloin steak with fresh fries and green salad, accompanied by an additional dish of fried leek with miso and pine nuts. The juicy, excellently cooked piece of beef, cut from the thin loin, with the characteristic small edge of fat, was a treat in itself. However, I took a fried foie gras as a supplement. The delicate, sweet taste and unctuous texture is an experience in itself. For dessert I chose 'Limoencremeux' with coconut, ginger and lime leaf ice cream. The ice cream was tart and 'savory' at the same time. The creamy-tasting coconut and the softly sharp ginger created a dessert in harmony. The dinner ended appropriately with a steaming Espresso. I'll go back soon for the bar bites: an egg of caviar, the Zeeland Oysters with cucumber, dashi and Hollandaise. The fried foie gras on a toasted brioche, Pata Negra and balsamic onions. Een absolute must-go in Leiden. Arie en zijn team hebben goed begrepen waar gastronomisch genieten om draait: Zonder pretentieus te zijn een volmaakt product neerzetten, zowel in de gerechten, als in de bediening en aankleding. Rosé wijn per glas: De Domaine L'Amaurique is echt fantastisch; de Toast Pata Negra is één grote smaakverrassing en rijkelijk belegd met die goddelijke ham. Ook de Bisque d'homard is een echte aanrader! Het enige wat jammer is dat wij niet eerder deze plek ontdekt hebben. Wij komen zeker (en vaak) terug.

Inmiddels heb ik alle gerechten van de kaart al eens uitgeprobeerd en zonder ook maar een uitzondering er valt niets op aan te merken. Allemaal topklasse en buitengewoon lekker,zeker als je je laat adviseren mbt de wijn die bij de verschillende gerechten gedronken kan worden.

Had dinner here with friends, having a lobster soup with shrimps and steak tartare with flattened lagoustines and xo cream. the lobster soup was richly filled with shrimp and lobster, and tasty, the steak was just big enough as a starter. Corn chicken, sirloin steak and even steak tartare as a main course. Chicken was tender in taste with a decent amount of foie gras, the sirloin steak was also well cooked. Desserts, cheese board and pavlova, are also tasty. Price quality is excellent, with 2 bottles of wine for 4 people before, main and after E350.00. Last Friday evening we had a delicious meal and enjoyed the wine and the atmospheric ambiance. The food was excellent and deserves five stars. We chose a delicious bottle of wine, “De Toren,” from a nice price range.

Fantastic restaurant. We had such a lovely evening as a couple, starting outside with some Cava and oysters and then moving inside for a delicious dinner. The service was very attentive and super helpful, we also loved the recommended wine. The food was beyond tasty. All in all, great value for the money and an awesome atmosphere. We will be back as this is certainly one of the nicest places in Leiden if not The Netherlands.

4.5 stars. We visited this place when they celebrated their 1 year anniversary with a special menu of 5 courses. The food was overall great, except the maiskip. The chicken was a bit too dry and tasteless when the other ingredients in the dish took the spotlight. Great service and ambience. Would still recommend this restaurant.

What a plus for Leiden. It’s obvious that the chef has had a good grounding in technique and there is a balance in the dishes that you don’t necessarily expect at the price point. I shared scallop and pork belly dishes with a friend and then had a great Halibut main course with Buerre Blanc. Service was very good and you wonder if they can keep up the staffing levels. I’ve seen this space in a lot of previous incarnations and this is by far the best

Nice place with good food and amazing ambience. But The only thing that I find weird is that when you pay 15 euro for an egg sandwich, you get 1 egg? I found this weird a bit. But the ambience is great, service is fast, and the location and views to die for!

This place feels like a michelin star restaurant. The atmosphere, service, and of course the food! I'm a tourist, how come I've never had bread with salt, pepper, and butter on it? That combination is insanely good! Throw on some prosciutto and it's the cherry on top!

New catering facility at Leiden station. The interior takes you to Paris. We were well received and quickly received appropriate wine advice. In short, the food was great. The Gnochetti and steak tartate as starters, for which we will definitely come back. Good meat with the main course, also possible with foie gras and truffle gravy as an extra. We had the Porc Belly and the Scallops. For the main course we had the sea bass and the sirloin steak. That was delicious too. The wines recommended were well selected and went well with the food. The service was extremely nice and we felt very comfortable. It's very comfortable to sit inside, but there is also a nice outdoor area.

Based on the reviews and stories, we expected a lot, but unfortunately the evening was disappointing. The price-quality ratio is not good. For this money you expect better dishes. Steak is served with a bowl of crappy salad (10 leaves of lettuce with some salad dressing to divide between 2 people) and a bowl of fries. Fries were tasty, steak on the tough side. Adding salsa verde is tasty, but it doesn't make up for it. For these prices, the plates could look a bit nicer decorated. And isn't it possible to present some decent vegetables on a plate? You pay 5 euros for a bowl of those lettuce leaves if you order them separately. Tap water from a bottle also almost 5 euros! The acoustics of the restaurant are very noisy, no music. The black chairs are nowhere near comfortable. Staff is very friendly. And in terms of design… something is missing. I think the idea was a French café at the beginning of the 20th century and they went for an atmosphere that should be a bit old shabby chic, including dirty mirrors behind the bar and rows of wine bottles on a platform. Not worth repeating for us. There are places that are less pretentious and where the food is tastier for a better price.

Bij binnenkomst worden we hartelijk ontvangen door twee keurig geklede heren met zwarte stropdas. Het is duidelijk dat zij ons al verwachtten. Onze jassen worden aangenomen en een van de heren begeleid ons naar een mooi gedekte ronde tafel in een rustig hoekje naast de bar. We voelen ons meteen welkom en bestellen een apéritief. Wat ons direct opvalt is de gemoedelijke sfeer. Bijna alle tafels zijn bezet en er is een gezellige drukte zoals we kennen van Franse Bistro’s. De muziek staat nauwelijks aan. Precies op het juiste moment ontvangen wij het menu. We hebben besloten ons te laten verrassen door de chef. We zien het personeel vrolijk en adequaat met elkaar werken. Er hangt duidelijk een harmonieuze sfeer onder het personeel. Er lijkt sprake van een bepaalde hiërarchie en indeling: er is een leider/chef die het overzicht houdt en er zijn medewerkers die hun eigen wijk bedienen. Goed afgestemd en onder controle. En belangrijk: steeds met een lach en met aandacht voor de gasten. Chapeau!

Menu is creative and fun, food is excellent, nice wine list, very professional staff - acoustics are a thing though. You cannot sit quietly at the front of the store and you are overwhelmed by a cacophony of noise. Far too much glass and stone and that resonates and resonates. It's completely different when you sit in the back. Take action quickly at the front because it is too good a thing to avoid due to noise issues.
