Café Vulling in Breda centrum

Beautiful location. This building belonged to my great-grandfather, and my grandfather was born there. He had cigars, tobacco, and snuff.

Self-service and therefore still reasonable prices. But we don't have to do a bit of tidying and cleaning ourselves, do we?

About ten years ago it was a nicer cafe but still not bad and good prices

We were always very satisfied with the service until we had a bad experience with a staff member last weekend. A small misunderstanding, and she immediately went on the attack, while we calmly tried to explain our situation and apologize... such a shame. We no longer felt welcome and were closely watched by this staff member. The rest of the staff were nice, but we were moved to another terrace.

Great cafe! Beautifully situated on the square with a view of the church.

A cup of coffee doesn't have to be expensive...this place proves it...

No service, you can see that in the price 👌🏼 With the coffee you get a coin for a second cup afterward, great staff and even if you only want 1 cup of coffee it's cheaper than everything around it 🤝🏼

For a fee, you get two free coffees. Self-service only.

A lovely spot to enjoy the view, the shoppers on market days, and of course, our pride and joy, the pearl, the large church. A great spot with a spacious terrace, perfect for meeting up with friends. You won't be bothered by pushy staff. It's a gathering place for people of all ages, and it's no problem to share a drink or snack together. Newspapers and newspapers are available for perusal. You can bring your own refreshments and snacks (no service), so there's no need to rush. It's definitely worth stopping by for a coffee or tea; you'll receive a free token at the bar for an additional coffee or tea.

Sat on the patio for 15 minutes and didn't get any help, which is a shame. Then I went inside to use the restroom and saw mice running around the place! 🐭🐭🐭 I reported it to the staff, but they didn't seem to care. This place should be closed immediately.

I visited Café Vulling in Breda Centrum on Friday, 9 August 2025 around 7:00 PM. The woman who took my order (young, with colored streaks at the back of her hair) was shockingly rude from the start. Her tone, facial expressions, and way of speaking made me feel like my questions were “stupid.” My brother even asked her why she looked so upset with us, and she responded even more unfriendly. When I went to collect my pizza, I politely asked to order another cola. In front of other customers, she told me sharply that I “had to be in line”, something I wasn’t aware of because it had never been mentioned. The way she said it was unnecessarily harsh and embarrassing. I came here to enjoy my weekend, but instead, I left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. After checking the Google reviews, I noticed many other customers have complained about the same behavior, which shows this is not an isolated incident. This staff member is damaging the reputation of the café. Until management takes action, I cannot recommend Café Vulling. Management contacted me and they are friendly, so I assume things won't happen again.

The lady behind the bar is really rude, unfriendly and i already saw previous comments all people complain about same problem. I think now owners should take an action about that . First time here and last time for sure !

Great place with a fun concept where you can order at the bar in a pleasant atmosphere! Lots of drinks to choose from and friendly staff.

Love it, been my main bar since I moved here. Great staff, great prices. But be aware order at the bar. Especially love the spritzes, cheapest in central Breda!!

Asking a euro for a deposit cup and getting 50 cents back when you return it. And then also asking money at the toilet while you are a customer in the café. I understand that they don't want the whole city to go to the toilet with jazz, but if you are just in the café you should at least be able to go to the toilet for free.

Vandaag naar cafe.de vulling geweest ben er altijd graag gekomen maar.nu vind ik de tent gewoon walgelijk het idee is dat het goedkoper is omdat er geen bediening is ! € 3,80 voor een glas fris.en daar.nog € 1 boven op voor statiegeld beker en als.je de beker inlevert krijg je 50 cent van de euro.terug wat een oplichters dus dat betekent een glaasje fris voor € 4,30 waar je voorheen een extra muntje kreeg voor een.kop koffie als.je een kop koffie had besteld die krijg je ook al niet meer van mij kennen ze het bekijken met hun zelfservice !

Due to a misunderstanding, the staff treated us very unfriendly. Not what you would expect from a café, even on a day like King's Day.

Because there is no service and you have to get your own drinks and food from the bar, the prices are slightly lower than other places in the city. Furthermore, it is a nice place to play a game, pool or table football with friends. Snacks aren't great.

Self service but cozy and cheap

nice atmosphere qwa restaurant. We only found the staff unfriendly and did not want to help us when we had a problem with a pinball machine.

On spec, we took a seat on the covered and heated terrace of Café de VILLING. This was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. This is self-service, hence the 3 stars for service, oopsie 🤭. The bold blond tasted delicious here. Because of the magicians next to us, this session was magical. Kudos! And in summary, a piece of home from home, class!

Pleasant place, nice atmosphere, even as an outsider who doesn't come there often. Buy 1 coffee, you get a token for the 2nd and you can get it for free, perfect.

Cozy terrace. Second cup of coffee free. No staff standing next to your table when you have just finished the last sip of your drink. Ideal!

The bar staff are not quite rude, but it doesn't make much difference. They ignore you until they feel the moment is right to speak to you. Continue to chat quietly with regulars while you wait. Their motto is: no service, that saves the price. But that doesn't mean that you can't be customer and service-oriented behind the bar. Of course it varies per team. But the one at 1530 on 29/8/24 was uninspired and uninterested and made you as a customer feel for a moment who is the boss here. Shame. Next time pay 10 cents more for a little service.

Nice place for a quiet cup of coffee and a game of chess, but also to have a beer with friends in the sun on the terrace while enjoying a cheese board. After visiting a few times, they even remember your regular recipe. ☺️👍 Kudo's given where kudo's are due. Clearly a cozy and no-nonsense spot to relax with friends while enjoying a drink.

They are nice and the price of the beer is lower because you have to pick up the order yourself. I cannot recommend a nibble because it is very expensive. We paid €25 for some (small portions) of cheese, olives and spring rolls. The atmosphere is of course good because in Breda and on the Grote Markt!

Grumpy employees definitely made ourselves regret to drink here. Don’t dare to ask something to them.

Really nice place to go to with friends. They serve food, although choices are limited in the evening, and you can also play pool for €1 (temporary €10 deposit). The offer of drinks is solid and the staff are very friendly. If there is one downside, it’s that the place smells too much of alcohol and beer.

Nice tent, especially very cozy to sit in. It's a shame that you have to order and pick up your drinks yourself.

Never experienced such poor service and quality. Ordered beer downstairs and then asked a paying customer for money to go to the toilet.

Gezellig cafeetje zonder bediening. 'S ochtends hier een koffie gedronken. Ik betaalde 5 € voor 2 koffies. We kregen een jeton mee waarmee we een 2de koffie konden afhalen (zelf te bedienen). Gezellig terras op de grote markt en leuk interieur ook op het 1ste verdiep. Het eten kan ik niet beoordelen, gezien we enkel koffie genomen hebben

Eten was redelijk maar personeel een jongeman met zwart haar vriendelijk maar de andere jonge dame achter de bar had denk ik haar dag niet.. 2 flancuchen kwamen snel de 3e duurde 15 minutenlanger gooide met dingen en van vriendelijkheid was ver te zoeken.. jammer

Handig concept waardoor de prijs nog redelijk blijft. Het plein is druk, maar wel gezellig. Toilet moeilijk bereikbaar dmv een wenteltrap. Ik weet niet of er voor minder validen een alternatief toilet is?

Altijd gezellig en personeel is erg behulpzaam. Als je verkoeling zoekt in de warme maanden zorgen ze daar ook voor door middel van een waterpistool 👍🏼 aanradertje

Niet bijzonder, ook de wijn niet. Wel goedkoop, maar daar maken ze ook reclame mee. Prima om te zitten in het zonnetje. Terras stond zo dicht op elkaar dat niemand er meer door kon, dat was er extreem.

Leuk cafe vriendelijk personeel het zonnigste terras van de grote markt.

Heerlijk gezellig! Vriendelijk personeel, mooie pooltafels, boven zijn de toiletten waardoor je wel 2 keer nadenkt voordat je teveel drankjes gaat drinken door de ultra handige wenteltrap. Mooi terras aan twee zijden, personeel is altijd in voor een gezellige babbel!

Doe graag hier een drankje :) altijd een fijne sfeer met super lief personeel!

Leuke plek, aardige werknemers, kan er lekker poolen met je vrienden en drankjes zijn een mooie prijs. Buiten is hangen hittelampen voor de koudere dagen.

Prima plek aan de markt. Wat een sfeertje.

Prima cafe met scherp geprijsde biertjes. Daarvoor moet je wel even naar binnen maar dit zie ik als een voordeel. Veel stamgasten op het terras, wat het naar mijn mening altijd gezellig maakt. Het personeel is vriendelijk en maakt graag een praatje. Al met al een goeie tent! Zeker aan te raden als je in Breda bent.

Kijk deze lage bierprijzen zijn gewoon pure winst. Hoe sneller je je drankje opdrinkt hoe meer je in gezonde conditie blijft om een nieuwe te halen. Daarbij is het zelf halen altijd een handig moment van zelfreflectie tov de hoeveelheid alcohol die je nuttigt met een klein budget. Daarnaast kun je elk personeelslid aanspreken voor een muziekaal verzoekje, dit vinden ze ook heel leuk om constant aan te horen. Naast alle gezelligheid kun je ook je acrobatische kunsten uittesten op de wenteltrap, of je vraagt een dienblad aan het personeel omdat je weer lekker veel goedkoop bier hebt gehaald! 🍻🎉

Het voelt als thuiskomen. Super gezellig café waar iedereen welkom is. Wel even zelf je bier halen, maar dan kan je gelukkig gezellig even met het barpersoneel kletsen! De prijzen zijn gelukkig ook nog te overzien, waardoor de volgende ochtend al snel komt maar niet zo schikken is op de rekening. Tot de volgende!🍺🍻

Drinken zelf hale, no problem moet je in de kroeg ook. Flinke glazen wijn, niet van die zuinige. Verder gewoon lekker biertje. Hapjes zijn gewoon normaal. Flamkuchen viel een beetje tegen. En nie duur.

Even in de ochtend een cappuccino gedronken, muntje erbij voor ene gratis .

Vriendelijke mensen en goed bier, hier!

Geen service, dat bespaart in de kosten. Een geweldig concept als je het mij vraagt, het is een kleine moeite om zelf even naar de bar te lopen en daardoor blijft de bierprijs erg aangenaam. Leuke plek vooral voor studenten om te komen en na college wat pils te komen drinken en een potje te poulen, de italiaanse bol met frikandel smaakt ook heerlijk. Al met al een prima plek om flink te begaaien voor weinig geld, ook best een flink terras aanwezig als je van zon houdt ofzo.

bestelden nachos en dat waren letterlijk de goorste nachos die ik ooit heb gezien, ik kon wel janken.

Lekkere bijzondere broodjes voor een redelijke prijs. 6,50. Ook veel keuze uit drankjes. Vriendelijke bediening
