Grumpy staff. Errrgg grumpy male staff there, my god!!! I get the feeling it's too busy for them. Also, everything has become so expensive! Charged for Chinese tea for 5 people? This is new. Chinese tea used to be free with free water refills… since when do they charge money for Chinese tea?

I was for a second back in Shanghai when eating the food, everything is fresh easy and very nice. The staff is Indeed not so talkative but the food was a dream for a minute in Rotterdam. Can’t wait to go back try their cold noodles and dumplings 🍻

Delicious authentic food, but the restaurant doesn't look very clean or inviting. The toilets are also very dirty. Service is okay, but they could be a bit friendlier.

It is extremely loud in the restaurant. The service staffs are not respectful and very brutal. But the worst thing is that one lady has unhealthy breath. The food order is totally chaotic. Never come back again.

I recommend ordering just one portion of dumplings first to try them. We ordered four identical portions with beef, but they contained a lot of onion and a strong, distinctive seasoning that we didn’t enjoy. The service was good, although the atmosphere didn’t feel particularly welcoming. The duck was tasty but had many bones, which made it difficult to eat. We did enjoy the beef noodles and Chinese tea. Overall, it was an interesting experience, but I probably wouldn’t return.

It's not worth it. The price for this quality…

The prices are excessive for the quality. The white chicken feer were too soft because they were too cooked! They should be chewy! The food was quite bland compared to other Cantonese restaurants. It’s really disappointing because I was excited to try this restaurant.

I went to eat there with high expectations after reading many reviews praising its authentic flavor, but none of the dishes I ordered tasted authentic at all, which was very disappointing. Today I ordered Peking duck; the duck was cut very thick, and the pancakes were also very thick, but at least the dipping sauce was right and edible. I also ordered hot and sour soup, which was completely wrong; it even had something like pickled mustard greens in it. The Kung Pao chicken and Sichuan eggplant were both overcooked and mushy; they should have been spicy, but they weren't spicy at all, and they were really awful.

In our Chinese/Cantonese culture, it is customary to serve suckling pig on special holidays or wedding days. Unfortunately, a front leg and a hind leg were missing, so it was very embarrassing to give this gift... especially for €248!

It’s a scam. Don’t go. The food is not fresh, my kids were sick after the meal. Being Asian, it tastes horrible. They charged us 11€ for 2 bottles of filtered water, which was really from the tap. The tofu turned sour. Over 200€ for 8 and it was disgusting. Please avoid.

Very very busy, but beautifully served food.

We are from Germany and wanted to try traditional Dutch dishes. Unfortunately, this restaurant visit was a huge disappointment. Upon entering, it was immediately noticeable how dirty and unkempt the restaurant was. The toilets had clearly not been cleaned for a long time, and the floor looked as if it hadn't been properly cleaned for years. Unfortunately, hygiene does not seem to be a priority here. The staff also did not make a good impression. The hygiene left much to be desired, and furthermore, some employees even made jokes about customers, which is extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. The food was the biggest letdown. Several dishes did not seem fresh, and some even smelled unpleasant. Something like that should never be served in a restaurant. On top of that, the prices were far too high for the small portions that were served. Consequently, the price-quality ratio was very poor. All in all, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. Due to the poor hygiene, the poor service, the overpriced small portions, and the questionable quality of the food, we absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. We do not recommend anyone to eat here.

The food was scandalously small, expensive, and tasteless. Some of it was cold or lukewarm. They had even mixed up our order. As if that wasn't enough, the water was just tap water, which they shamelessly served at our table. The staff was also incredibly unfriendly. And as for the tables, chairs, floor, cutlery, and plates, I really don't need to say anything about them – they were filthy and stank. NEVER AGAIN!

Dimsum only for takeaway, we were not allowed to take a seat though we only asked for a dimsum menu at the entrance.

Seemed closed upon arrival; tried to open the door and it did open. Very, very busy and hectic, also seemed a bit dirty. Had to wait half an hour, but then we finally got a table. Very large portions; half a duck was finally a whole one. Very tasty food, but it's best to go a bit later so the rush has passed. We got a table in the corner, which made sitting there cozier than in the main hall. A lot of noise too; it's best to go after 8 PM if you want it a bit less crowded. Highly recommended, but later in the evening and it's best to call for a reservation, as you can't do it online.

Great Chinese Dim Sum. Very busy and chaotic but amazing food!

Enormous restaurant with a high ceiling. As a result, sound transmission is very high, making it feel like you are in a stadium. The food is authentic and the quality is very good. During busy periods, the speed of service for drinks is slow. Friendliness is high. Tables are cleared using trolleys. It gives the feeling of being in a canteen. Nevertheless, the experience is top-notch and very much in keeping with Chinese culture.

Had dim sum with a few friends today; it is still very good despite the crowds.

Food was fine, but service was so atrocious I can’t enjoy eating here ever again. It felt like we were annoying the staff. They take our plates when we are not done with the food, they give hardly any attention to our table, and they charge for regular tap water. Also, for the food I found it quite expensive (~25 euro per person to be mildly satisfied)

The food was mediocre, comparable to a few dim sum restaurants in Rotterdam, but there are far better Cantonese restaurants throughout the Netherlands. The roast duck and braised pork belly were too tough, and the spare ribs with black bean sauce were coated in a huge amount of batter with hardly any meat. The seasoning was okay, though. Many Cantonese people ate here. The decor was traditional Cantonese restaurant style, and the taste was authentic, but the ingredients lacked the freshness and tenderness expected of Cantonese cuisine. It felt similar to Hung Kee but much more expensive.

Food was okay, too oily and cold. They don’t serve the order properly as we ordered starters and main course , they got half of our main course first, then starter and then in the last the gravy that we were suppose to have it with the first main course. Also the restaurant is soooo loud, it’s impossible to talk to your partner as it’s soo loud in their without music. I won’t suggest this place for a nice dinner , there are better restaurants to experience Chinese food

Tai Wu is a somewhat dated restaurant with a genuine Chinese atmosphere. It is quite large, so don't expect an intimate dinner. Quite a lot of Chinese people come here, so that seems like a good sign to me. We ordered half a Peking duck (Siew Ap) and Babi Pangang in red sauce (there is also a Chinese version). You have to order the Chinese noodles separately for €4.50, or not of course, but then you only get meat and hardly any vegetables. We did get a bowl of white rice with it at no extra cost. The duck didn't appeal to us. It was half a duck, chopped into pieces, in a gravy. The gravy tasted fine, but the bones in the duck were less appealing. The duck was well cooked and the gravy was tasty. We only ate 10% of the duck. We were allowed to take the rest home, but we declined. The meat of the Babi Pangang was fine and crispy. The red sauce was very mediocre, barely a sauce at all, and somewhat glassy. The beers served with the meal were exactly what you would expect from a beer. There is a lot of staff walking around who serve you quickly. They all look a bit uninterested; not friendly, but not really unfriendly either. All in all, our visit to this well-known Rotterdam Chinese restaurant was disappointing. The most positive aspect was the atmosphere of a real Chinese restaurant, frequented by many Chinese guests. It is excellent for group visits, as there are large round tables. It is quite massive. We had to pay €62.50 and did not leave a tip. Perhaps not very nice, but it was all a bit disappointing. The portion sizes are enormous, by the way. The Babi Pangang was enough for the two of us. The half duck was enough for at least another two people. So order carefully; you can always order more.

coming here during a busy day (saturday dinner) and no foods were served late. excellent taste and great service. Unfortunately the crispy pork belly (fo nam) is no longer as good as it used to be. Its no longer the best menu, but the stir fry dishes are still amazing.

White nasi is practically white rice There is a tiny bit of egg in it and a few flakes of green, and you have to look closely; it is minimal, so I don't think the nasi is good Squid, shrimp, vegetables were good

I ordered a chicken chap choi for takeaway tonight. It is a shame I can't show a photo, but this is the worst chap choi I ​​have ever seen or had in my life. I paid €19.70 minus €0.30, making it €20.00 for 5 tiny pieces of chicken breast in a container, Chinese mushrooms, and broccoli. Totally tasteless Thai steamed food; this is a scam at the highest level! I feel hugely cheated.

The food was tasty, but if we order a dish there for around 28 euros and are asked if we want nasi or bami with it, I expect that price to be inclusive. I do not expect to have to pay an additional 4.50 euros for the nasi or bami on top of the approximately 28 euros for a dish. This is not clearly stated anywhere on the menu, and surely such a dish is not complete without bami or nasi anyway. Very strange and doesn't feel right.

Unfortunately, this visit was completely overshadowed by the poor service. Even though dogs are apparently allowed, we clearly felt that our Corgi was not truly welcome. We were seated at a small table right next to the kitchen instead of in the main dining area or side room. Our order was taken quickly, but in a very cold and unfriendly manner. While other guests were warmly welcomed and treated in a friendly, relaxed way, the staff only came to our table to serve food and later bring the bill. Despite many empty plates piling up on the table, nothing was cleared away. We even had to bring the teapot to the counter ourselves to get more hot water. It’s a real shame because the food itself deserves a much better Rating. Sadly, the negative impression left by the service outweighs everything else. We will most likely not return, and this level of inattentive service certainly did not deserve a tip. 🇭🇰 This was our second time dining at Tai Wu. Die Bestellung wurde zwar schnell aufgenommen, aber sehr kühl und ohne jede Freundlichkeit. Sogar den Teekessel mussten wir selbst zur Theke bringen, damit heißes Wasser nachgefüllt wird. Sehr schade, denn das Essen hätte eigentlich eine deutlich bessere Bewertung verdient. Leider bleibt vor allem der negative Eindruck vom Service hängen. Wahrscheinlich werden wir nicht noch einmal wiederkommen.

after entering the restaraunt we were not greeted for over 10 minutes. there was staff directly infront of us. ignoring us. after begrudgingly seating us, everytime we spoke or asked a question we were treated like a nuisance. we felt like we didn’t belong and weren’t welcome and are unsure why. the food wasn’t terrible but the overall experience was so terrible, i’d never come back

Great authentic Cantonese restaurant. I've been a return costumer for years. The 1st time I was taken there by Chinese friends who know Chinese food. So it's not like those tasteless european chinese places. However if you like dim sum. It's served only for lunch (until 17:00). And you need to make a reservation if you go for dinner or in the weekend. It's always jam-packed.

The waiters were very enthusiastic, but the food was terrible. Don't order the glass noodle casserole! It was tasteless, the ingredients weren't fresh, and I got diarrhea after eating it!

Disappointing for lunch. We had heard through word of mouth that you could eat well here. We went for lunch in high spirits. 2 people. We had two oysters. Chinese pancakes with shrimp. Peking duck with pancakes and chicken dye in honey sauce. Everything was tasty but lukewarm/cold. I mentioned this to the waiter and he said he hears this often, but everything comes from the kitchen upstairs and we don't want to walk too much, so we wait until our cart is full. Only then do we take the food downstairs. The toilets were also very dirty; I mentioned that too. He said he would pass it on. Furthermore, a place without atmosphere. And staff only come out when spoken to. We will not be coming back. Very unfortunate.

Had a very bad experience with their service. I've been a customer for a while and the woman with the short brown hair today was not helpful at all. Food came without sauce and she was very dismissive and rude poking finger into the food bag saying it was in there but in fact there was none. I had orders a lot before the same dish and it always comes with sauce on the side (this time was not). Not a big deal if she was being nice but the service from that lady was extremely poor, unfit to be a service worker and left a bad taste for the customers. I doubt that this is the first time she's done this and the restaurant must reprimande this behaviour immediately!

The busiest time is at least 30 minutes before you can place your order. Drink service is mediocre. Draft beer turns into bottled Chinese beer. Soft drinks are okay in themselves, but everything comes in separate parts 😅 Not suitable for children under 8 years old. If you place a follow-up order, it takes at least another hour. Once the food arrives, it is quite good.

Visited again after a long time and had a portion of “Sam Ping” (duck, bacon, and well, Sieuw). They are simply still very good; especially when you know that this meat shouldn't be served piping hot.

The fried rice was enormous, and the chili peppers were very fragrant.

We ordered two plates of dim sum, fried rice with chicken, and sweet and sour pork for my husband, my young son, and me. Everything was delicious.

One of the best Chinese restaurant in Rotterdam with a big selection. The food is authentic and tasty but just don’t expect to be the service to be good. Every time I go here, I feel like I’m back in the old days of china, the staffs are unfriendly and rude. Since the food is good, it really would be better if they can improve the service as well. Peking duck, shrimp and asparagus spring roll and the shrimp with some crumbs(forgot the name of the dish) is recommended!

Tai Wu is my favorite Chinese restaurant, serving the highest quality authentic Chinese food. It has a lovely atmosphere, is always cozy, and the rotating tables are super convenient! The food is delicious, but the service is poor. Wrong food and drinks aren't returned, but you still get charged for them. No one comes to ask if you'd like something to eat or drink.

I got two delicious takeaway meals. One with honey chicken and the other with nasi goreng shrimp and pork. In a word, "Delicious." Definitely recommended.

I found the food average. The ho fan, unfortunately, wasn't comparable to Full Moon's. The chicken breast in stir-fried sauce with vegetables was disappointing and tasteless. The Peking duck with pancakes and the nasi goreng, on the other hand, were quite tasty, though the portions were on the small side. What was truly disappointing was the service. When we asked the waitress what the chef's specials were, she said she didn't have time and that we should choose something from the menu ourselves. Another employee didn't respond at all when we asked him anything—not in Mandarin, Cantonese, Dutch, or English. All in all, not a pleasant experience, mainly due to the poor service.

TAI WU is temporarily closed! We made a reservation for October 25th, but we were met with a closed door. Tai Wu didn't even call. So we ate at the neighbors', and luckily we could go to Chinatown. After inquiring, it turns out Tai Wu has been closed since Friday, October 24th. This note is stuck on the front door.

The dry fried beef noodles were delicious! The seafood was fresh and sweet. The price was cheaper than the Yue Man Lou in The Hague. I would definitely go there again.

Got passed an older soup, most likely from last night. Extremely disappointing as the restaurant I usually visit around here was closed that day. Staff are helpful but the restaurant is extremely busy so it can take a few attempts to order or quite a long time.

Took more than one hour for our take away to be ready. They did not informed anything when we order, when asked they just asked us to wait with no estimation when will it be ready. Definitely not worth to spend your time here!!
