Chinees-Indisch restaurant Lotus in Wijk 50 Hoogeveen

Not the best Chinese in Hoogeveen. I would choose another one. The meat was undercooked and smelled strange.

Well-prepared food and a Chinese atmosphere, tasty food and affordable, if you can't finish it you can take it home.

We had a delicious meal. It was very good.

After a day of shopping in charming Hoogeveen, we ended up at this Chinese restaurant. A restaurant that looked just like it did in the 80s. The staff was friendly and our food arrived very quickly. The food was also just like in the 80s; it tasted decent but wasn't really warm. All in all, a reasonable experience. But unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

Het eten is matig. De service was een voldoende. Helaas is er geen sfeer. Al met al geen aanrader.

Wanted to place a catering order by phone, but she suddenly started a conversation with people at the counter. Acting professional, but didn't place an order.

Not fresh. Everything was jarred. Beans were canned. The Javanese meatballs tasted like frozen frikandel. I think everything comes from the supermarket (Aldi or something). Plus, the plantain dough wasn't cooked through. I'll never eat here again.

Just ordered 3 spring rolls... The first bite had a very unpleasant/sour taste. I called the restaurant and asked them to come back for 3 more. To my surprise, a plate and cutlery were brought out, and I had to try them, right in front of the customers. The owner took a bite of the spring roll I'd brought back and thought it tasted fine. The owner started talking about the distance from the restaurant to my house, saying I live only 5 minutes away, so that couldn't be the reason. When I got home, I cut the new ones loose, and again, there was a sour, spoiled smell. I called to tell them it was inedible again. The person on the phone explained that the spring rolls are made fresh every morning, and that many had already been sold today, and we were the only ones complaining about this. The bean sprouts were brownish and the meat was grey. It smelled terrible! Simply spoiled. It's sad that after calling twice, you're still not being treated well on the phone, as if it were my fault. In short, no more getting anything! 🤢

Ordered takeout over Christmas. It took a while for the food to arrive, but we were told that over the phone. The food was delicious, well-filled containers, and a good price.

What a terribly unfriendly woman works here. We wanted to eat something, which was possible, but we had to leave at 4 p.m. We arrived at 2:15 p.m. Since we wanted a small meal, that was fine. The whole restaurant was empty, but we were forced to sit by the door next to the exit. We went elsewhere and were rudely shown to our assigned spot. We walked straight out the door. Avoid this awful place.

Ordered a Chinese-Indonesian rice table (158) for 3 people here, it was surprisingly tasty, well seasoned and sufficient, a personal recommendation!

After an initial, less-than-positive review, I've now made a more positive adjustment. After picking up food several times, I can say the quality is good. Excellent value for money and well-prepared. Everything is prepared very quickly, so you don't have to wait long, even if you haven't ordered in advance.

Babi pangang was tasty in generous portions.

We always get nasi lotus, usually, and it's delicious. My only complaint is the prawn crackers, which are really tiny.

Ordered Nasi Rames. Yuck... how bad. Nasi with soft, overcooked rice. Hardly any vegetables. As a highlight, all the rames dishes in one container. Chicken, satay with sauce, beef with ketjap sauce, all in one container on top of the vegetables. Never experienced that before. Yuck, how bad... everything in the bin.

Nasi goreng the next day also very good to eat because the rice is not too dry. Many Chinese restaurants can take an example. Friendly.

Today, 8/1/2024, I ate a delicious “pulling day” lunch. It was great again!

We have been coming here to pick up food for years. Usually the A and B monthly menus. The food is always delicious! It was striking that these menus were normally enough for the entire family. However, these menus appear to be no longer sufficient and to our surprise we turned out to have far too little for my birthday, even with extra "2x Pisang goring" and extra "foe Yong hai" still not enough. So probably "shrinkflation" at Lotus too

Just a warning for people who love good food, don't get take-out from here! I would not easily rate something as bad, rather mediocre, but this restaurant deserves a bad rating. After two or three bites we knew enough, this has nothing to do with quality at all. Lost a lot of money unfortunately. The meat was tough and more of a C choice, the sauces were horrible and the tomato soup watery and greasy (I don't think it had anything to do with tomatoes!). The only thing that was acceptable was the prawn crackers, the rest went straight into the trash. What a mockery, it is incomprehensible that such restaurants still exist. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about a growling stomach tonight, we're too tired for that now! Never go to Lotus Hoogeveen again, I'd rather starve!

Really not good food. Bah! The tomato soup was watery and thin, leaving little flavor. There was far too little sauce with the babi pangang and also very little atjar tjampoer. There was also little flavor to the babi pangang. The large spring roll contained strange pieces of chicken. There was a strange glassy layer around the chicken pieces. Very strange and not tasty. The spring roll is also only tasty if you really like bean sprouts, because that was mainly in it. I was able to find 3 slices of leek and the rest was bean sprouts. The portion of satay was not included, so we had to go back again. The satay sauce was very salty. All in all, definitely not recommended!

We collect dishes almost every week. Lately it's not worth that much money anymore. The spicy soup was tasteless. The spring roll is just a piece of egg with plenty of bean sprouts. The crust very limp. The nasi was very sticky, no vegetables left, just a few pieces of egg. Very disappointing, we are considering choosing another restaurant. Gr fam thalen.

Heb in het pinksterweekend maand menu gehaald. Was prima van smaak, lekkere combinatie en goed op temperatuur toen ik thuis kwam. Netjes geholpen bij het afhalen, geen lange wachttijd.

Eten was niet naar mijn smaak,verschillende gerechten smaken bijna allemaal het zelfde. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

De buitenkant van deze zaak is niet echt uitnodigend om meteen naar binnen te stappen. Gelukkig was het interieur redelijk modern en niet typisch Chinees ingericht. De ontvangst was ook niet echt uitnodigend. In verband met de maatregelen rondom corona werd ons gevraagd of we misschien uit de Randstad kwamen. Zo ja dan konden we beter de zaak verlaten terwijl er maar vier andere gasten waren. De kaart is redelijk uitgebreid en onze Indische rijsttafel was verder ook smakelijk. Wel eenvoudig maar verder gewoon goed.

Onderweg naar huis maar even snel door Hoogeveen gereden op zoek naar een chinees restaurant. Na vragen aan wat mensen uitgekomen bij Lotus. Snel een bestelling geplaatst die binnen 15 minuten klaar was. Meegenomen naar huis en daar heerlijk gegeten. Prima dus.
